    Bootylicious drink
    Adrienne S.

I went here for a friend's birthday knowing nothing about this restaurant and oh my, it was an experience! It is overwhelming when you walk in; there's a lot going on visually , it is a little loud and the hosts wear bright pink blazers. I loved it! I highly recommend going with the right people who will appreciate all the kitschy stuff like we did. Now the food. I ordered the bootylicious drink that came served in a butt mug and another at the table had a drink in a chalice that was on fire. I was sold. The drinks were all very good and I tried a few of them. For food, I will say, it's a little pricey, but what isn't these days? I had the meatball appetizer that came served in an actual pot (with a handle and everything). Entrees, I split the pasta for 2 and the chicken dish and we had tiramisu for dessert. This food was all very good! They also have an ice cream tower that they cut slices off of in front of you and a giant flaming wheel of cheese that they do something with. This place is just fun, y'all! I also have to give a shoutout to our waiter, Joey. I know our table was loud and obnoxious, but he was great. He answered all of our ridiculous questions, and even sent me home with an extra side order of some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. If you're kind of a stick in the mud, don't go here. But if you want a fun, unique night out, this place is it!

Wonderful experience with my 20 y.o. for her special birthday meal. Pizza al Fuoco shared app. She had the duck, I had chicken Saltimboca. Shared tiramisu dessert. All was delicious, great service. Lovely place and we'll be back for her next birthday so we can have some fun cocktails! Nice that you can dress as fancy as you want, or wear jeans. We loved sitting in the alcove velvet booth!

TALK ABOUT INCREDIBLE! This place has such a fun ambiance. It's so great in there and the entire restaurant is incredible decorated. I would've never imagined a place this great being in the location that it is. Seems more suitable for a Chili's or Applebees but what they've done with the restaurant is absolutely OUTSTANDING. Our service was impeccable. We both ordered cocktails - I had a fruity vodka drink and my friend ordered a mezcal tequila one. Both were absolutely delicious and presented so well. For appetizer we ordered the meatballs and started the meals out with both of the presentation pieces - the hand pulled mozzarella and the cacio pepe in the cheese wheel. All three were absolutely amazing. After that we ordered the ceaser salad and it was one of the most unique presentations I've ever seen. Once everything was chopped up and tossed - it was one of the best ceaser salads I've had in my entire life - HONESTLY! We ended with another pasta dish from the menu that we took two bites of, and ordered two pieces of the lemon blueberry tiramisu to go. We had them the day after and they were incredible. To the gentleman who put on a show with the mozzarella and the pasta - thank you so much. You were kind and willing to deal with my photos. Our server was also great. Cheers! Keep up the amazing work! Usually places like this are a one-time stop in my book because they're more for the pictures but the quality of food will truly have me come back. Thank you!

Another spot on my Syracuse bucket list I had the pleasure to finally get to recently! I made reservations for 6:30 on a Wednesday. It was already crowded by the time we arrived, and we had to wait a few minutes for a table. Not a big deal, just be aware that this place is popping! We started with a round of cocktails. I got the Carmella, which is topped with a giant wisp of cotton candy to pay homage to Grimaldi's, which was in this spot previously. Very photo worthy of course, and tasty too. The cup is surprisingly voluminous! There was lots of fun eye candy everywhere - giant pink feather chandeliers, cheeky renaissance-style paintings with modern twists, salt & pepper shakers shaped like chili peppers. I would have loved to look around and explore more, but it was pretty crowded & hard to get the full effect. Probably come early if you want to soak it all in! Naturally, we had to try the cacio e pepe in the cheese wheel. It was super fun to see the chef light the cheese wheel on fire & toss the pasta inside of it. Prep went very quickly and at the end, we had a heaping pile of pasta to share. From some of the other reviews, I was expecting the food quality to take a backseat to the razzle dazzle and honestly would have been OK with that, but the pasta was outstanding. It was so creamy and flavorful, and the portion was exactly right, not too small and filling without being too much. Brava! We didn't opt for dessert, though there are some great looking options. I did feel a little rushed with the service, which is understandable given how popular they are. This maybe isn't the place to linger long unless you're dropping major money to justify taking up the table space. Next visit, I'd probably hang out in the bar area to try more of those delightfully fun cocktails and maybe give some other pastas a go. This place is an experience unlike others in town and worth checking out if the opportunity arises. I love the sheer creativity of the restaurant group and owner behind it - they could have just kept repeating what was already working for them but it's pretty neat how imaginative each new concept is.

Cacio e pepe in the wheel

Lala lu is a complete experience. It's a delicious experience, to be sure. But, more than that--it's a feast for the senses. Had reservations for 6:30 and had to wait a few minutes past our reservation time (no biggie). We were then led to our table and met with a richly decorated dining room with unique seating arrangements. We had a booth, which felt perfectly tucked away with its own feather chandelier and view of the gorgeous dining room beyond. This is definitely a spot that has contemplated the vibe as much as the menu. My dining companion and I started things off with cocktails. I got their old fashioned, she got some amazing concoction that was topped with blue cotton candy--it was quite a spectacle! The old fashioned was a solid cocktail. For our dinner, we decided to each go for the cacio e pepe in the wheel as an entree. This is done table side and would highly recommend as one of the more entertaining meal items I've ever ordered (flames and everything!). Our server misunderstood and thought we wanted to share one order of the cacio e pepe (instead of one for each of us). In the end, this worked out as the one order was pasta a-plenty for the both of us. The cacio e pepe is a simple pasta dish but delicious in its simplicity. The service was attentive and lovely throughout. Get to it!

Okay so the ambiance is 10/10. You really feel like you're in a Boujee restaurant in Europe. I loved the decor. It's soooooo perfect. The waitstaff was also phenomenal. 1000/10. Good menu. The drinks were decent. I got the sangria flight. Tasty. For the food I'm giving them a 3/10. I think they try way too hard to be unique. I want something unique AND tasty. The best part of the meal was the dessert. We got tiramisu. It was pretty delicious. The presentation of the food was alright. The taste was mediocre at best. The rainbow pasta in the photo was barely edible. The lamb chops were decent but I wouldn't order it again. They have to focus more on the taste of their food and not the presentation for IG- worthy photos. I would come back to give them another shot for sure.

Chicken lalalu (was served with mushrooms on the plate - NOT listen on the menu description!)

!! Public Service Announcement: As of 6/26/24 the "Cacio e Pepe in the wheel" is only served on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. This is NOT mentioned in their menu currently. My cousin and I decided to have a girls night out and try out this restaurant. It looked cool online, had some obnoxious drink options and elaborate food. Looking at their menu online we saw they had the Cacio e Pepe in the cheese wheel and we had planned to order that and share (since it can serve two). We made reservations for Wednesday, June 26 at 7pm, arrived at 6pm and got sat right away. It wasn't busy at all. The server was no help in explaining the drink menu. She just repeated what was on the menu when asking about specific ingredients or presentation. So I knew from the start we wouldn't be able to rely on her much to walk through the menu. We ordered the Arancini Eggrolls as an appetizer: the flavor was good, it's like an arancini Italian rice ball, but in eggroll form. It comes with a spicy sauce. When we ordered our food and told her wanted Cacio e Pepe, she said they are not serving it now and only serve it on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. We were extremely confused and asked why, as there was no indication of this on their menu. She said "He was getting paid a fortune and was standing around doing nothing most of the time. This dish is most popular on the weekends, so we sent him home and only have him come in Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays now." To say we were disappointed was an understatement. (Strike 1) We ordered other entrees as our main meal. My cousin got the Chicken Lalalu and I got the White Truffle Bolognese. The Chicken came out almost as described, but they added sautéed mushrooms on the side. My cousin is allergic to mushrooms. The menu entree description does not mention anything of mushrooms. If she had known there were mushrooms served with it, she would have ordered something else. We scooped the mushrooms off the plate and sent them away. My white truffle bolognese says "topped with arugula and white truffle." I didn't see white truffle topped anywhere, so I'm very confused where it could have gone. It was also supposed to be served with Mafaldine, ribbon-like squiggly pasta - it was served with bucatini instead, spaghetti with a hole in the middle. Be sure to read the entree descriptions very carefully, as they hardly use any punctuation and can be misinterpreted. (Strike 2). We were almost tempted to get a dessert to get the whole experience (drinks, app, entree, dessert), but our server took too long to give us a dessert menu and take our order we decided to just leave. She tried to make it right or bribe us with strawberry gelato, but we declined. We asked for her to give split checks and split the app. She came back with 1 check. Then took another 10-ish min to correctly give us split checks. The server we had was not top notch, unfortunately, and didn't add to our experience. (Strike 3) Lastly, I was surprised to see a credit card service charge on the check. I don't live in NY, so this was a complete surprise to me and shocked to learn later it's a new law. I personally believe that's part of the cost of doing business a business should take on and not put it onto a customer. I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately did not meet my expectations. I would not recommend this restaurant, mainly because of the service received and some key discrepancies on the menu versus what was served.

Absolutely loved LaLaLu. The ambiance and service were fantastic! The drinks are unique and tasty. Our table was ready twenty minutes early. Fresh bread, wedge salad, and steak were all delicious. Steak was cooked to perfection. The cheese wheel was a presentation and was delightful! I will be back, most likely will be my new birthday celebration go to! With all that being said it is upscale dining and prices are reflected accordingly. I thought the pricing was reasonable for the dining experience. This is an update. I took my daughter for her 25th Birthday dinner, she specifically chose LaLaLu for the ambiance and loved everything about it! The chick vibe is just so fun and the lighting, decor very unique to the Syracuse area. It was a week night so no table service meals available. They were out of the LaLaLu Chicken which one guest had ordered. We loved the bread and oil and seasonings this was an upgrade since my last visit and server quickly replenished when it was gone. Arancini egg rolls were a different appetizer choice served with spicy dipping sauce. My daughter and I both had the Filet Gorg Ravioli medium rare. Hers was closer to medium than medium rare but she still enjoyed it. This is an updated menu item since my last visit and I enjoyed this version of the filet considerably more! Both served with mashed potatoes that were more like porridge but still tasty enough. Served with vegetable as well. We shared Tiramisu for dessert that was brought with the sparkler for her birthday, love that. Dessert was enjoyable and she loved the entire experience! She said it is her new favorite place! It is very pricey so will be reserved for special occasions! Be sure to bring cash there is up charge on all menu items and an additional credit card fee. Cash is king as the menu says!

Lala Lu had great atmosphere. It felt exciting and was more than it looked like on the outside. There was much to choose from and we had a hard time making decisions. Our service was pretty good, with only minor waits. I would say that the drinks took quite a bit of time to come to the table. Filet Gorgonzola Ravioli (no picture): This was interesting. I was expecting a couple of ravioli but it came with one big one on top of the steak. It was also blue and black which was a little odd to me. The cheese was personally not my favorite, but my filet had pretty good taste. Ribeye: This was amazing! It was cooked perfectly and the flavor was great. Overall if you want a fun night with a cool ambiance than this is the place for you! There were also a lot of fun foods that we didn't try.

Craziest looking place. I had the Seabass. It was amazing It was very quirky. They had menus that lit up as well as check presenters that lit up. It was a very unique touch.

Absolutely worth the hype! We came here to celebrate my birthday and had the most delicious and memorable experience! From the fun drinks to the presentation of the volcano pasta, I was blown away at all the details and uniqueness that this place had to offer. Definitely a great place to celebrate and entertain out of town guests at!

We were excited to try Lala Lu & waited for an occasion to make a reservation. While we enjoyed our meals, the service during our dinner got progressively worse. We booked on open table & got a text that our table was ready at 7:30, 15 minutes before our reservation. When we arrived, they were expecting us & seated us right away. The person filling water & the waitress came by in a timely fashion & introduced themselves. I enjoyed the atmosphere. There was cool art & decor everywhere I looked. The music was upbeat & not loud. Many customers were dressed up. Our waitress talked us through the menu, including her recommendations & what they were out of. They were out of several items but we appreciated the advance notice. I liked the wine list descriptions, which helped make my decision. Our waitress provided helpful feedback when we chose between 2 cocktails. She kindly checked on us a few times while we were deciding what to order. We received a bread basket early, which is a nice touch & I loved the seasoned Parmesan with it. When we ordered our app & entrees our waitress let us know that she'd have the kitchen start our appetizer right away & start our entrees once our app was served. I appreciated this, as I value timing in fine dining. Our waitress returned shortly after to tell us they were out of the whipped ricotta we ordered (interestingly, whipped ricotta was served with one of our entrees. I wonder what they were out of & wish they could've offered it with a substitution for whatever they were missing) & asked if we wanted an alternative. We chose calamari which was more expensive & not worth it. The calamari was fine & I enjoyed the marinara, but there were lots of pickled veggies which we didn't love. Shortly after we finished, the waitress brought out my husband's steak. She said she brought it before my food because she didn't want it to get cold & mine would only be a few minutes. I found this odd, but appreciated that they wanted to serve food at its best. However, my stuffed lobster did not arrive for at least 15 minutes. In that time they could've cooked a whole new steak. There were only 2 other groups in the dinning room, so I'm not sure what the delay was. During the wait, we were not checked on. My husband said his steak was very good, but his experience was soured by having to awkwardly eat alone while I waited. When my food finally arrived I was offered a brief apology. The Stuffed Lobster was very good- a large portion, probably enough to split. There was a whole lobster with meat still in the claws & some of the tail. A cracker was provided, but only a full size fork to get the meat out & no bib for the mess. It was served with butter which was not fully melted. Our waitress came as I was starting to eat & asked if we wanted to hear the desserts. I would've preferred to finish my meal first, but let her go ahead. She came back 2 more times while I was still eating to ask if we were ready to order dessert. At one point she took my husband's fork away even though he had been using it to try my pasta. When I was done eating, he used my fork & the waitress asked if we were done while he was still actively eating. For dessert, we ordered the lampone chocolate cake- which was absolutely delicious! I asked for coffee & was told that they "don't have coffee right now" which I took to mean that they didn't want to make it. It was clear they were trying to close, as they were clearing lights away from the unused tables. Not a second after we set out forks down, our dessert plate was taken away. I did appreciate that the bill folio was lighted as it made it easier to see. We were at the restaurant for less than two hours- out by 9:30. I thought we ordered in a timely fashion (apps & entrees at the same time, dessert while we were eating dinner) yet we were rushed from the minute my entree was placed on the table. I did not see any time limit listed online. For a restaurant that takes reservations as late as 8:45, this is unacceptable. We also put on open table that we were celebrating a special occasion & were never asked about it, but we saw other tables with sparklers. I highly recommend that Lala Lu revisit their menu & service standards. It would be helpful if their menu was kept updated to reflect the multitude of items that were unavailable. Meals for couples need to be served at the same time. Between having to swap our first appetizer choice out for a more expensive item & having to eat our mains separately, we would've greatly appreciated if they had made it up to us in a more meaningful way than just an apology. Perhaps most importantly, they need to allow their customers to enjoy their meals without being rushed. If they can't provide a high level of service at 9:30pm (especially after a delay from the kitchen)they should not take reservations at 7:45. The food was good, so I'd give Lala Lu one more chance, but there are improvements to be made

Celebrated my 18 year anniversary with hubby, so we love steak, this restaurant was on my bookmarks under "must eat in Syracuse." Reservation's was for 8:30pm, got there 10-15 mins late and called them ahead to give a heads up and they were very understanding. As soon as we arrived they seated hubby and I right away. Ambiance: WOW! Loved it, from the hot pink booths (wish we were seated there) to blue velvet lux seats and our booth had leopard print which is my favorite print! The whole entire place was just absolutely my kind of place to be at. It gave me sexy, classy and hot vibes all around. Loved it. Service was on point to, loved how they wear hot pink suspenders with all black. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to us. The food was delicious from start to finish. We just ordered drinks and entrees, skip appetizers since we wanted the main meals right away. We ordered the steak for two and the stuffed lobster with pasta. Really big portions so it was perfect for sharing. I really liked the pasta, it was so creamy and flavorful. Hubby ate most of the lobster since I knew it was his favorite and I was already tipsy from my drinks lol. The steak with the truffle butter was absolutely heaven in my mouth. The mash potatoes and Brussels sprouts were perfect sides with the steak too. The drinks I ordered was Bootylicious or something like that since it was served in a booty cup, thought that was hilarious and it had tequila in it which is my go-to liquor. The other one was Carmella with the cotton candy, this drink was like a blueberry shake or something with vodka and was my most favorite out of the two. Warning when you eat up the cotton candy it will stain your teeth, but its a fun and delicious drink! Hubby ordered a drink that was like a mojito and the cup it was served in was big and cool. Dessert: we were so full already but I had to have tiramisu since its my other favorite dessert. We did the classic tiramisu and they served it with a sparkler greeting us Happy Anniversary. It was a fun nice touch to end our night at LaLa Lu! Thank you for this experience and making our night special. I definitely will be back again! Cheers!

They also sell some very cute greeting cards, earrings, magnets, etc. We ordered two drinks (Ube Espresso, Crème Brûlée latte), a flower pot mini cake (chocolate cake with raspberry filling in a decorative flower pot), a crème brûlée donut, and a spinach puff. The desserts were good, with the flower pot mini cake being our favorite. The chocolate cake was moist and the raspberry filling was balanced. We didn't love the flower frosting on top, but it was very pretty. The donut was very unique and filled to the brim with a fluffy cream - though we both thought it could've had a bit more flavor. The dough was perfect - soft and pillowy. The crème brûlée top made for a fun eating experience as the thin hard sugar had a satisfying crunch. The spinach puff was also delicious. Flaky pastry and cheesy filling - very comforting. The stars of the show were the drinks. The coffee was superb - balanced, smooth, and rich in flavor. While I didn't find the ube flavor to stand out, the ube espresso drink was still one of my favorite coffee drinks I've had. The Crème Brûlée latte was my friend's favorite - it was the perfect dessert drink. It even had the sugar crust on top. I would definitely come back to try more of their menu!
