I love this spot. If you're in the area I recommend coming here for dinner if you can get a reservation. I came here for a family birthday and loved it. I can't wait to stop back in. This spot is very quaint and cozy. When you're here, you feel as though you're in someone's house. I love their drinks, burgers, fries, and appetizers. Our server was very friendly and attentive, even though we were here on a weekend evening and it was quite busy. I can't wait to stop by again for dinner.

What a nice date night venue! Full bar and delicious food; what more can you ask for? When there is calamari on the menu, 90% of the time we will order it. The calamari was soft and tasty, not the frozen, chewy type that some restaurants serve. The main courses had a variety of options that can fit anyone's taste. The wine and beer selection is on point! I definitely recommend School and Vine.

French 75 (8/10); boy do they know how to make a strong & tasty cocktail!

Thoroughly enjoyed my first dining experience here! I came based off of a friend's recommendation and it lived up to the hype. My entree of calamari pasta fra diavolo was delicious - the sauce was the highlight of the dish! So bright & flavorful! But the star of the night was hands down the ahi tuna appetizer. If you go you have to order this! Pair it with one of their delicious cocktails too.

I will start this as I always do by saying that I don't give out five stars unless I am really blown away. This is one of the few times I give that five stars. I live this place. It's small but has a great feel. The staff is super friendly and they do a great job making sure we were taken care of. Had a manhattan which I hardly ever have because most of the time I am disappointed. This time I was not disappointed it was one of the best I have had in a long time. The apps were awesome the bacon and duck wontons were off the hook. I could have eaten 10 of them. The house made kettle chips were just perfect. I am going to try and make my own as they were that good. I ordered the Steak Frittes the garlic fries were money and the steak was medium rare as I asked for. I feel like that never happens. Most steaks are over cooked but not here. They nailed it. Everyone loved their food and would go back tomorrow if we could. The price is high but when it's worth it I don't mind paying. If you have never been please go for a nice date out. This place will impress. Don't be in a rush as this is a nice place that you don't need to be in a hurry. Make a reservation as it's not easy to get in. Worth it!

Love, love, love the atmosphere of this place, as it is nestled in a small little corner of a neighborhood. A small, rustic building surrounded by vines and trees - the environment is truly an escape, and is my favorite part about School & Vine. The food and drinks are just okay, (aside from the fries which were pretty good). I got a Bacon and Brie burger which was good, but if I am paying over $15 for a burger, I like for the flavors (i.e. the brie and bacon) to really shine, and for me they didnt - it kind of tasted like a regular burger. Everyone else at my table got burgers and they seemed to agree - just okay. I also got the blueberry lemonade martini which kind of fell in the same line - just alright. I do not think I would return unless I was truly looking for that "escape the area" vibe because you truly do not feel like you're anywhere near Syracuse when you are here. If that's what your are yearning for - definitely give this place a try , and maybe something other than burgers are their thing!

Small quaint restaurant though you would not think a restaurant would be located in a residential area but it would be great place for a date night. Atmosphere is intimate complete with candles and dimly lite dining room. Have heard that the outside area is beautiful in the spring and summer however, in upstate NY in November we settled for coming back next year to experience the outdoor space. The food was excellent and the service was great. The French Onion soup was to die for and was as good as the soup I spend hours making. Portion sizes were large. I am glad I ordered a side salad as that was enough for me though had I known how good the soup was I probably would have ordered two bowls and no salad. My dining partner ordered a Hamburger which looked amazing. Hamburger was flavored and cooked to order however burger was a little overcooked but flavor made up for it Would highly recommend this restaurant and we are looking forward to returning. Menu changes frequently so be sure to check their website for their current menu. Additionally, they offer daily specials

I have never had a bad meal here. The food is fantastic. The service is great. I love the atmosphere and I love the history behind this restaurant. There's outdoor seating in the warmer months as well.

Once again, it was outstanding. Great service great atmosphere and the food is superb. The price is worth what you pay for. If you have not come here yet, I strongly suggest it. It may be expensive, but the experience is hard to beat. One of my top five favorite restaurants of all time.

I was genuinely looking forward to dining at what is often described as "the best restaurant in…read moreSyracuse," especially for their Valentine's Day prix fixe experience. Unfortunately, based on our visit, I do not anticipate returning. While I do have several culinary critiques--such as paying for the luxury wine pairing only to receive a bold Burgundy alongside Linguine and Clams, or seeing "Caviar" listed on the menu and discovering it was actually Bowfin roe--these are ultimately matters of taste and expectation. Likewise, the eclectic menu progression, shifting from Korean/Asian-inspired starters to Eastern European notes and then unexpectedly into Italian influences, was unusual but clearly stated ahead of time. SEE UPDATED REVIEW FOLLOWING THIS SECTION SPECIFICALLY RELATING TO "SERVICE FEE". What was not clearly stated--and what I believe crosses into dishonest practice--was the service fee. The menu advertised on Instagram included fine print noting a 3% service fee. That seemed reasonable. However, the check we received instead included a 22% service fee, which is a significant and unexplained deviation. This is not a simple oversight. The terms presented online at the time of reservation did not match the terms presented at the restaurant. (UPDATED REVIEW: Following my review, one of the owners of Noble Cellar reached out to discuss my experience. We had an in‑depth, thoughtful conversation about the complexities of New York State restaurant laws, particularly those governing how front‑of‑house staff may be tipped and how back‑of‑house employees may be compensated. While we were in agreement that the language surrounding the service fee was confusing, our discussion gave me a clearer understanding of the intent. I now feel far less certain that the discrepancy was malicious or deliberately deceptive. That said, it should have been made much clearer to diners that the service fee included what is traditionally understood as gratuity. Transparency in this area is crucial for maintaining guest trust, and clearer communication would have prevented the confusion I--and likely others--experienced. I want to commend the owner for reaching out directly and taking the time to address each of my concerns. His willingness to engage, listen, and provide context demonstrated genuine integrity. We also discussed my other critiques in depth, and it was evident that he was sincerely interested in my perspective and committed to further elevating the experience they aim to provide. I was invited back to experience a standard service, and I appreciate the opportunity. I look forward to giving Noble Cellar another chance and hope to update this review again following a future visit.) Our total bill was $599, including a $100 "service fee." I still chose to leave a $100 tip, as our server was attentive and should not be held responsible for management's decisions. In the end, we spent $700 for two people--paired with the added disappointment of feeling misled. I have photo documentation of both menus, and the discrepancy is unmistakable. I will be reaching out directly to ownership and management regarding this issue. Until then, I feel compelled to leave a 1-star review, as this level of inconsistency and lack of transparency is unacceptable. Without the inflated and undisclosed fee, my rating would have been closer to 3 stars, based on the food and overall experience.

We ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer, and the batter was so crispy and also fluffy (almost like a battered haddock but lighter) - awesome! The bang bang sauce has great flavor, but slightly too mayo forward for my preferences - but ate it up nonetheless and would get them again! I also ordered a blackberry margarita- which I will say was strong, but the flavors were great. When I asked if they minded giving me a couple Slices of lemon and some simple syrup (and yes I admitted that it was a ME problem, not that they made it poorly- it was just stronger and I'm a big wimp!) , they promptly, no questions asked said "we got this" and put the drink back in the shaker and added some simple syrup (mind you I was totally fine with just a little shot glass of it to dump in my drink!) - so the willingness to be so helpful was very appreciated. As for our entrees, one of us ordered the Cajun Alfredo and one of us ordered the Tropical Salmon, both were made incredibly well, and the flavor and seasoning was fantastic! The Alfredo sauce when I tried it was lovely, not so thick and "artery clogging" as some Alfredo can be, but coated the noodles beautifully and packed a flavorful punch. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the pineapple and coconut in the rice made for an amazingly delicious dish. We were also fortunate to sit at a window overlooking the swan pond and then take a nice walk around the pond. So lovely- cannot wait to go back!!

I asked them if they could get me a clean cup and they ended up bringing the same one as the same mark and crumb were still there. For food, our table ordered a few items to share. We got: -CAULIFLOWER WINGS: The chutney/salsa on top of the fried cauliflower was nice and gave the item a little sour kick. However, the cauliflower itself was not cooked fully so not as soft as I wanted it to be. -SYRACUSE POUTINE: The appearance of the poutine was not the best. However, the gravy it came with was very flavorful and tasty. The potatoes themselves were not fried and were in wedge form but went well with the gravy. The small globs of melted cheese on top were a nice complement. -CAJUN SLIDERS: The slider compliments/sauce went well together but the sliders themselves had grill marks on it which gave a bitter bite to those parts of the slider. Additionally, the fried shrimp inside of the slider still had the tail on and so it was a bit of a surprise to bite into a full tail while eating a slider. All in all, a cute spot to see people but food had some hit or miss components.

I was the only returning patron, the others much enjoyed their first time here. Walking through the front door you're instantly hit with a wonderful smell of food cooking over an open fire. Got a terrific table to look out the window and enjoyed a nice evening view. Took full advantage of every food meal course available. Started out with their evening appetizer of homemade bread with cinnamon butter. Each of us got our own dinner choice along with small plates to start. The two small plates were green lentil salad and ember roasted carrots. Both of them with their unique flavor and style. The green lentil salad featured heirlooms. The ember roasted carrots featured labrieth, doqqa, and maple syrup. Keep in mind everything here comes from local farms and local breweries and distilleries. Big fan of supporting the state and local community. Fantastic! They feature only a few main entrées, tonight's included halibut, steak, chicken, and sea Island peas with jasmine rice. Knowing how well seasoned their steaks are, I went with a filet mignon 10 ounce. Probably a little more than I should've gotten, but I very rarely eat steak and know how well and good they are here. Ordered the steak medium to medium rare and that's exactly how it came out. Mouth watering delicious. Along with the steak includes mashed potatoes, chimichurri, kale, and. crème fraiche. Every bite was outstanding. One of us got ice cream for dessert which she said was very good. The ice cream was made right there at the restaurant. We kicked off the dinner with a rum cocktail and a tequila cocktail. All spirits locally sourced. If you haven't tried it here yet you should. You will not be disappointed.

We were promptly seated and ordered glasses of wine while perusing the menu, which is on the smaller side. That usually means everything on it is rather good, so we had high expectations. We started with the Mushroom Toast, Ember Roasted Carrots, and Beef Tartar. I'll start with the bad and finish with the good. The Ember Roasted Carrots were a complete miss. They were trying to go for a middle-eastern flavor, with each ingredient contrasting, while the carrot served as the centerpiece to flavor. I found this to be INCREDIBLY bland. The carrots were not salted enough during roasting and lacked enough char. They dish also needed more labneh than it was served with. It literally just tasted like carrots and yoghurt. Honestly, if I could only give one critique it would be to have used more salt, but this dish was a real disappointment. The Beef Tartar suffered from a similar issue. It was bland. Not enough salt was used. It unfortunately tastes like flat beef. I overheard the bartender talking to another couple and he told them they really want to highlight the ingredients. The idea is purity or something like that. And that's well and good, but you still need to season beef tartar. I don't think this is necessarily a poor execution of the dish(es) rather this is more in line with the philosophy of the kitchen, and that's fine. It's just not for me. And now for the good. The Mushroom Toast was great. It had all the things I had wanted. Fat, salt, umami, freshness. This was a good dish and I would get this again. As for the entrees, my husband and I ordered the Cappelletti and the NY Strip. The Cappelleti was the strongest dish of the night. The flavors were layered and intentional. This was a great dish and I1000% would get it again. My husband ordered the NY Strip along with bone marrow. It was cooked to perfection. Cooking it over a wood fire gave it a great char and almost Smokey flavor. It was very flavorful. The chimichurri made the steak feel lighter than it actually was. My husband loved it and I loved having a bite or two of everything together. This was a complete dish and I'd highly recommend it. The only knock I could give it is the bone marrow. There was a lack of volume in it which is probably due to being cooked over a wood fire. Parts of the bones were also over roasted. I'd skip this the next time and get the foie gras pate. Lastly, for desert we were disappointed that we could not try the rice pudding as they were out of it (we will try it the next time if available). We did however order the Flourless Chocolate Torte to share. It was made perfectly. It was rich and decadent but remained light. It was almost like a mousse, but not quite. We loved it. Overall, the had a great time. There were several highlights and I think they make up for the a couple of the earlier dishes. I'd like to see what else they have to offer when they change their menu.

TPOH nailed it: "Speaking of hearing, I can't take too much loud music I mean I like to play it, but I sure don't like the racket" I'm starting here, with the vibe, which sets the scene, dig? Decor-wise, it's luxe lounge, and is a welcome surprise in the Salt City. We use Resy, and...either the hostess misheard our party size, didn't really care, didn't really doublecheck to read our actual reservation, or whatever man, that's just your opinion. So, the backroom might have been a bit better suited for us olds, we were ushered into the front room. Not the window, but pretty darn close. Again, fun for people watching, inside and out. Like a lot of places, the York has a broad spectrum of offerings. Burger. Nashville Hot. Multiple pasta options. Sure, sure, sure. The porkchop with kimchi fried rice was the clear winner, hands down. The chicken, mashed and greens took second place (but I'll give ya a pro tip chef: the longer you cook your greens, the better they are). The salmon was a distant third because everything bagel seasoning is a lot after a while, and the veg was uninspired. Our TL:DR recommendation is come for cocktails and poutine. The poutine satisfied by itself. Our server was great- thanks, Destiny!
