This is a must stop place. Great food presentation and flavor. Amazing owner with great service. We randomly ran into this place as we were heading home. The aroma of the food from the parking lot was invigorating my senses and I was really happy with the quality and flavor of the food. Reminded me of my good friend from high school and his mom's food. Wish these guys were closer to us.Restaurant is nicely set up with Ethiopian decor. Nice and clean. And if you haven't eaten with your hands this is a must Ty

Lalibela ethiopian cuisine is the best ethiopian food i've had in the US. my ethiopian family still live in ethiopia and this restaurant really reminds me of home I live in La (los angeles) and i can confidentially say Lalibela in Redding makes better food than any ethiopian restaurant that i've had in La... and i've tried most of them this was my first stop after landing in redding airport because im going to mount shasta and i am very pleasantly satisfied. i'm so grateful and glad that i found this restaurant. if i could, i would bring them out to La hahahah by the way, the service was great and so is the environment

The food here is delicious, and the owners and staff are great. I order the veggie platter, and recommend trying the sambussa as well.

The food here is delicious, and the owners and staff are great. I always order the veggie platter, and also recommend trying their sambussa as well!

My family was on the road, and the last thing we wanted was more fast food/diner food. Had to go a little off the 5 to eat here, but it was very worth it. The variety of flavors in the veggie combo hit the spot! Ethiopian coffee served just right. Service couldn't have been better and the atmosphere very comfortable. I wish this place existed where I live. Thank you Lalibela!

This place is amazing. I grew up eating Ethiopian food and this is the real deal! The food is so delicious. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. I felt like I was in Ethiopia with the music and the art. Also very clean!

The food here is amazing and reasonably priced. I am so happy and surprised to have this gem in the Redding area. The food is delicious, comparable to what I get in the Bay Area, minus the heavy price point of the bigger cities. The red lentils were by far my favorite! If you've never had injera, it is a slightly tangy but fluffy rolled up bread that pairs well with all of the dishes. The beef and chicken tibs are a perfect meat dish to pair with all of the yummy veggies. The owner is very kind and loves to share about the Ethiopian culture. From the traditional coffee, to the decorations throughout the restaurant. The space is open and can seat many people. I highly recommend coming here, it is perfect for a quick lunch or for a group of friends/family.

The service was great. The food was wonderful. The restaurant was easy to find and we were welcomed when we walked in. We got the veggie platter for two, and it was so good. The injera is gluten free and authentic. We will definitely be back if we are ever in the area.

I came to Lalibela on a Sunday around 12pm. We were quickly greeted and sat by a lovely man who I think may have been the owner. We decided on the Meat Combo, the Fava beans (breakfast menu), and the Ethiopian coffee, which we discovered was on the house with every meal! I thought that was a lovely touch. The coffee was also served table side and presented in beautiful dishes while incense gently wafted which added nicely to the presentation and atmosphere. When our food arrived we were pleasantly surprised by large portions and the items were clearly plated with care. The meat combo was flavorful, filling, and delicious! The fava beans which were served with bread were equally filling and wonderful, and a great deal at $8.99. I ended up taking some of the meat combo home and enjoyed it the next day for breakfast. I am so glad to see an Ethiopian place in Redding, and I am looking forward to coming back. If you have not been, you absolutely need to go!!

A new restaurant opened few months ago, it's really good. Including food and service. Highly recommended it. The restaurant is very nice

Top plate: Goat Tibs Bottom plate: Doro Wot

A beautifully cozy restaurant on Eureka way, Lalibela Ethiopian Cuisine is a hidden gem in Redding! - The goat tibs were seasoned perfectly with aromatics that allow those who usually are weary of eating goat to love - Doro Wot (which was recommend by our waiter) is a thick savory stew with a boiled egg and chicken leg, the ideal warm dish for a cold day. I could probably eat a whole bucket of it if I could. - beef sambussa is crispy and flaky paired with a spicy green sauce 100/10 recommended

The food was wonderful. We had the beef sambussas, doro wot, and shiro wot. It was perfect for two people! We could've done without the sambussas too. Adino started this wonderful place and works here with his family. You even get free coffee whenever you come! Seriously some of the best coffee I've had.

I've had Ethiopian food a handful of times in my life and always loved the flavors and variety of it all so I was stoked to hear an Ethiopian spot was coming to town. Tried it out and it really hit the spot. We got an order of the beef tibs and the meat combo and shared everything family style and it was all so flavorful and yummy. I am definitely going here again whenever I get the craving. I highly recommend trying it out!

I used to dream about the food all week waiting for them to be open on Saturday. Now they are open 6 days per week It is truly the most delicious comforting food in town. They have amazing service with welcoming smiling faces as well. The atmosphere is bright and beautifully decorated. It is the type of place you make yourself at home and want to stay a while. We had the delight of chatting with Charity. These are great people with a real talent of hospitality and cooking. I don't know how I would survive if Amazing Alheri ever leaves.

I recommend you do what I did - grab some friends and feast here next Saturday - they're open from noon till 5pm in the pop up restaurant space - we ordered one of everything on the menu and shared everything! Gosh what a way to celebrate a birthday, with a delicious handmade feast! I like how they kept the menu really simple, just 4 meals, 1 appetizer, 1 dessert. Each meal includes the famous jollof rice (rice cooked in a tomatoes, red bell pepper, onion chicken broth, Nigerian spices, bay leaf and thyme), fried plantains, and a side of a spicy red sauce; each meal has a different protein: #1 Chicken Meal (tender stewed chicken thigh) $18 #2 Fish meal (seasoned grilled salmon) $20 #3 Suya Beef (oven grilled thinly sliced beef) $20 #4 Fufu $18 (Fufu is a starchy side dish usually made of a pounded yam (also called "pando" or "poundo") or boiled pounded cassava and served alongside a rich stew, which in this case was the divinely flavorful egusi stew (the pureed seeds of a West African melon) with wilted spinach leaves and surprisingly tender and wonderfully flavorful goat meat. My friends taught me to pinch off a piece of pando/fufu/poundo with my right hand, make an indentation in it with the thumb to scoop up some of the egusi stew, and enjoy! It was simply amazing, this was my favorite of all the delicious dishes we tried! (Note that this meal is gluten free, for those with sensitive digestions.) #5 Meat pie (savory pastry filled with seasoned ground beef and sautéed onions, carrot, and diced potatoes) - this has a beautiful pastry shell with glossy egg wash, and a savory filling. We let this cool down too much before enjoying but it was delicious even cold! Each of the proteins were delicious, as was the jollof rice, but for me the egusi with the goat meat and fufu stole the show! Make sure to enjoy it right away when they serve it hot, to catch all the wonderful flavors! That's why we didn't have any photos, we didn't want to waste a moment of enjoyment! The jollof rice was moist and flavorful. Each meal was a generous portion and very filling - the rice was about 3 cups cooked, topped with a handful of sliced fried plaintains, and the proteins were generous too! It was nice that each meal came in a to-go container (spicy sauce in a separate container) so if you can't finish it you have a ready to go meal for later! We were intrigued by the Zinziber and the zobo tea, because the ingredients are so healthy and good for the digestion. Both come in ready to go bottles and were clearly hand made in small batches, with lots of love! Zinziber: this is the golden yellow one! Has filtered water, pineapple, organic ginger, orange, lemon, organic cane sugar - super refreshing with the citrus and pineapple, a tiny zing of ginger! So good for the digestion with the pineapple enzymes, citrus limonene, and gingerosides. Light and bright. Zobo tea: a beautiful deep red color from the hibiscus flower, filtered water, pineapple, organic ginger, organic cane sugar, cinnamon, cloves. This is also a wonderful digestive due to the combination of pineapple enzymes, gingerosides, and according to some traditions has blood nourishing properties due to the hibiscus flower. They don't skimp on the ingredients - the hibiscus is a deep red purple color, so they used a good amount and high quality petals to get such a rich color due to the high concentration of antioxidants. Both were refreshing, lightly sweetened just so, not too sweet such that it is still healthy and you can feel good about enjoying it. It was so fresh. I love that cultures the world over know how to combine foods to enhance health and nutrition! Such a delicious way to stay healthy! I will pick up extra bottles next time, at $6 they are a steal for the quality you are getting. The best handmade beverages to be found in town, I hope they start selling these at Holiday Market or Sprouts. No way you can make it as easily or combine the ingredients this perfectly to get the right flavor profile. Parking is easy and plentiful in the adjacent lot. Pro tip: Enter from the main door facing the sidewalk on Placer, remember they are open only from 12-5pm on Saturdays. Call ahead for to go orders, they aren't on Door Dash yet. I predict they will do very well and will soon graduate to their own restaurant space, because their food is simply delicious! Go support them! You won't regret it! What a great addition to the Redding food scene!
