Priya has some exceptional food. I haven't always been a big fan of Indian cuisine because it can sometimes be too spicy, but that completely changed after having dinner at Priya's. I loved the vegetable masala--it wasn't too spicy at all--and their garlic naan is incredibly tasty. The regular naan is great too and pairs perfectly with the thali. Great for take out! We got the Chicken Tikka Masala, Vegetable Bryani (massive portion-- enough for 4+), Chana Masala and a garlic naan (packed with fresh chopped garlic). Everything was fresh and tasty, nothing was oily. Felt good after eating. Nice man handed me a box of my order. We have no Indian food in Red Bluff, so when we come to Redding to shop we always go to Priya. They have plenty of Vegetarian options for me and an equal amount of meat based dishes. We went for dinner and the food was fantastic, just as i remembered. The chicken Tikka masala and vegetable curry were my favorite. The onion pakora was also a hit with our table. The service was okay, ambiance leaves much to desire. There was only one other table dining and the rest of the place was empty but we were sat right next to the other patrons. We would much prefer takeout here rather than dine-in. I went a couple days later to try the lunch buffet and i would not recommend it. The food tasted like it was at least a day old. Pretty decent meal. As a party of 4 we got butter chicken thali, eggplant curry thali, and goat biriyani a la carte. Each thali comes with rice and 4 other smaller sides, naan, and a small dessert (rice pudding). The butter chicken was pretty decent and the eggplant curry was ok. The naan came out hot and was very good with the other dishes. The biryani had a lot of meat in it and was very good as well. It also came with two sides (a yogurt and a curry? one). Both the dish and the sides were a bit bigger as a la carte. Overall a decent choice for indian food. Nothing special but does the job. read more

Priya Indian Cuisine is located in a strip mall like almost everything else in Redding. It's been like 5 years since I've been here and well, the price of the lunch buffet isn't under $10 anymore. It's $16 now, so plus tax and a little tip, basically you're looking at a $20 lunch buffet. At that price point it's not something I'd do often like once a week or anything. I'll say the food is still good and they did have my fave items on the buffet. As far as Redding goes, this is about the best Indian lunch buffet there is. I'm not too much into Indian food, I just know what I like, and that's the tandoori chicken and the tikka masala over that fluffy light basmati rice. Oh, yes, I do like the included naan bread too! I did like that the tandoori chicken was mostly drumsticks and thighs and not like some cheap Indian places do, is put out all the scrap pieces of chicken for the buffet, like the backs and rib cages and even necks, and save the better pieces for the ala carte menu. The chicken was nice and tender and you could bite in and not have to tear off the meat with your teeth. It just bit off nicely and had good flavor. The tikka masala was good like most places, hard to mess up that one. I ate as much of the chicken as I could but I think I was just able to get my monies worth as I was stuffed at that point. I'll come back, but maybe not as often when the prices were cheaper. read more

Food was a let down. Decided to dine in and when I arrived, the man (appears to be the owner or manager) seated me, then brought me a fork and napkin. No menu. It was 5:30ish in the evening so he assumed I was there for the buffet dinner. I wanted to order vindaloo, but tried the buffet since I was super hungry and didn't want to wait. As a new customer, I was hoping to be asked if I wanted a menu or was I there was buffet... There were 3 main dishes, flavored basmati rice, some cake, iceberg salad, dessert and some cut fruit. The curry chicken was super salty ( not much curry flavor), naan was good, tikka chicken was super dry- maybe due to lights drying out the meat, and I didn't try the 3rd item which was same dal dish. I ate one plate of food and a few pieces of fruit. If you are hungry and just want food in your belly, it's a clean spot to visit. Don't go if you want authentic Hindu / Punjabi cuisine with real spices. I was truly disappointed. Gave it 2 stars for price & effort. read more

My husband and I stopped at this location on a road trip. We had very low expectations but were pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste. They had a buffet but we decided to go with the a la carte menu and ordered the potato pakora, chai and chicken biriyani. Potato pakora was freshly made and we were given 3 amazing chutneys. The chicken biriyani was also tasty and the chicken was perfectly cooked and falling off the bones as we ate them. Service is quick and there is a no nonsense atmosphere. We were visiting Lake Shastha and had skipped lunch and needed a nice heavy meal. This place had a long weekend special buffet so we ended up here. Ambiance was bright and colorful, buffet had a decent number of dishes which were kept warm in chafing dishes. In addition to Indian buffet regulars like bright red tandoori chicken, butter chicken, naans, palak paneer, dal, pakoras, they also had vegetable pulao, an assortment of chutneys, onion salad, okra pakora fry, cut mirchi, mutton curry, chicken curry. The good stuff first: pulao was great, so was the dal which tasted exactly like one would make at home. Though the regular chicken curry was better than the butter chicken it still lacked an oomph factor and was mediocre. The okra pakora fry, and the pakoras were just limp. And a fresh batch of pakoras came out while we were there and those were limp as well. Palak paneer with naan was decent. Overall a very decent option for an Indian restaurant that's not in the bayarea. We are spoilt with a plethora of some outstanding choices here in the bay. read more

I placed my order through Yelp and we were there in minutes. I did not take photos as we weee all starving and loaded our plates full and ate. We ordered the following items: Eggplant curry: Okra Masala: We ordered this spicy and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the spiciness and flavor and if ever in the area Lamb curry: I didn't eat this my hubs did but he said it was good. Lamb Biriyani: this was a huge order with lots of chunks of lamb. It was enough to feed 3 people on its own. Naan bread: I thought I was ordering 3 breads and accidentally ordered 3 orders and ended up with about 12 pieces of Naan!! They came with condiments, like picked carrots, and raita sauce. So yummy. read more

This used to be our go to for Indian food. While the dishes taste great they no longer carry tamarind sauce which is huge and the portions are ridulous. Their mint chutney (also a huge draw for us), is sent in 2 tbsp containers. They used to send (we order in a lot) of naan free of charge and now they charge 4.99 for one piece (cut in two). Our last order of naan was burned. I don't understand how they justify such an expensive dinner with such poor attention to details. We will be cooking Indian at home when we want it now. I've been coming here since I moved to Redding and it's always been consistently very good. Since the Covid shutdown they have been doing a lot of take out that I see going on while dining in. I'm sure the food is great when packed to go but I've always preferred eating there because when The Chicken Tikka kabob comes out of the kitchen sizzling on the platter it is pure goodness. The Thali dinner is the way to go and don't forget to order the samosa's or pappadam for the kids (they are like a giant Pringle but made of chickpea flour). The sauce trio served with either of them are great. Like I mentioned their food has always been great but as of this date I have to say the food this time was better than ever and every single thing we ordered was on point and delicious. The interior design and decorations are dated but pretty. They had a buffet open in the evening which is always a nice option. I was with my friend who was going through a difficult time and I was hoping to have a relaxed evening with her. We checked out the buffet but she was a little worried about how long it looked like the food had been out and I was concerned about gluten contamination. We were about to look elsewhere when they told us we could order something made off the menu ensuring both freshness and gf allergy precautions. Despite being one of only three tables in the restaurant, service was really slow. It took a painfully long time to get my wine, then the menu, then to order, and about the time the food finally made it we weren't really all that hungry anymore. Ordering gluten free was a challenge here as well. I wasn't sure I was being understood which made me nervous but I chose to go with items I'm used to being gf in the cuisine. While we were waiting for our from the menu freshly made meal, we noticed people from the kitchen kept coming out with dishes and filling up from the buffet and then going back into the kitchen. When our food finally made it to us we were pretty sure a good amount of it had materialized from the buffet we'd intended to avoid. My friend, who was grieving a family loss, was no longer hungry. However I made it my mission to eat for the both of us. I wasnt super impressed though and called it quits without finishing my plate. I had also ordered a togo order for my parents. The food unfortunately made my mom pretty sick and she's now untrusting of anything I bring for her to try. Overall, I can't say there was much to comment on. I have been here several times. The food is delicious. The ambience is not so great as they usually have music and a TV playing at the same time, both at volumes that compete with each other. The dining room looks clean. The bathroom walls and doors are disgustingly filthy. I kept hoping and expecting that they would clean them, but they haven't in the last couple years.
