Walked in to a basic mom'n'pop store greeted by the smells of oil and sugar. Gentleman at the counter politely said hello. Since it was my first time, I decided on a trio of their glazed varieties. I'm not a huge fan of overly filled and topped donuts anyway. The classic plain glazed donut was fluffy and airy inside and lightly glazed on top- perfect. The glazed French Crueller was slightly wet inside and crispy outside- prob won't get again as I prefer the fluffiness of the classic donut. The sour cream fashioned I saved for last because it's my go-to donut. Honestly, it let me down. Yes, it was crispy with lots of crusty surface area and had a dense inside. But it had too much surface area that held on to too much glaze, making it overall way too sweet for me. I will be back to get more plain glazed and maybe try the twisted two-toned. read more

Lame experience. I pulled up to the place and the open sign was still lit and there were customers inside. I walk in and I'm looking at the donuts in the case and they employee behind the counter says, "Sorry were closed". I said, "You can't sell me a donut?" So they give me the whole company line about how the registers are closed down, blah blah blah. I made the comment that they could just get me a donut and I'll give them the cash, yet they continued to act like they were powerless to override the system. I shook my head and left. Businesses that can't make small executive decisions to not only satisfy a customer but to ensure that they keep their current customers are ridiculous. The second I left the employee came over and turned off the OPEN sign, which was the cause of this whole incident to start with. Much better location than their other one. This one is more open and has lots of places to sit and a much larger variety of donuts. The young girl working was friendly and patient while we made our selections. I opted for the snickers donut, which while delicious, was a bit too sweet for me. Lamars Donuts are a well known donut shop in town and we wanted to give them a try. The have a nice selection of donuts, fritters and more for certain. The staff was helpful in explaining the types of donuts and didn't feel rushed. There are two classes of donuts - those with holes and those with out which are a large donut. Priced accordingly. The donuts are good.. to get right to it. Over all some are not as balanced as I would like.. as some are really sweet. They are good don't get me wrong but compared to other donuts across the country I'm rating them a 4. I would visit and worth the trip for sure. The doughnuts have always been amazing here, lines are always long so you know it's the happening place for a doughnut in the morning. I been coming here for just over 5 years when I got a chance since learning about them and they have been amazing. My complaint is their prices. I went in and got 1 doughnut and I ended up skipping the coffee because my total came out to $5.89... for ONE doughnut.. are you serious? These are donuts that you pick out of a glass display case not like the other donut shops where you can customize or get fancy toppings, then that's worth the five dollars. To pick one out of a glass display case that's been the same for the last five years but it's now over five dollars?? Sorry but I'm gonna go somewhere else. read more

Lamar's is a staple and I just absolutely love them if I'm in Fort Collins and in the need to cater to my sweet tooth. Considering a single donut is expensive, I usually just go all out and get a dozen. The Chef's Special or Baker's Special or whatever it may be called is $21 for a dozen but allows for you to receive a variety of both donuts with holes in them and donuts without holes in them/filled donuts. This is the standard for Lamar's pricing. Given that a dozen donuts with holes in them is $16, might as well toss in the extra $5 to get some jelly or eclair-style donuts. Anyway, Lamar's is great. It tastes wonderful, not too greasy or hefty or disgusting at all for a donut. Just right and delicious. I also have gone there during the pandemic and staff are kind and taking the necessary precautions with COVID-19. I'll certainly be back to support whenever I see fit to have a donut which is usually most of the time in my life. read more

This was a cute little shop. The line was super long but it moved quickly. The cappuccino was delicious and there's nothing a like a good, plain, glazed donut to go with it. I love Lamar's donuts! This is the better location in Fort Collins and I really enjoy eating donuts here. My very favorite donut is the old-fashioned glazed! The seating here always seems to be enough, since most people get their donuts and go. The staff is friendly and helpful. The parking lot isn't the easiest to get in and out of if you're traveling west. They don't have the best coffee, but I don't usually get my coffee here. I'm usually grabbing my donuts and heading somewhere else for my caffeine. The donuts are fairly pricey, but still the best ones in town. Something for everyone to keep in mind, if you want hot coffee, go get it. Don't wait for delivery. Its probably not a good thing to order out for coffee in the morning. They're going to busy and it may take over an hour to get your coffee, and it will just be warm, not hot. That being said, compared to Caribou's Americano, the one I got here was an average house roast coffee anywhere else. Caribou has 3 shots espresso in a medium, the one I got here was a very light coffee. 2 doughnuts and 2 medium coffees delivered with 15% tip came to $23.68, so I kind of expected more, but there's a pandemic, so "don't get your hopes up". Better than motel coffee, it's a good average cup of joe, and the doughnuts were good, so I give it 3 stars. read more

There donuts are alright. But they are probably the best in the area -- Fort Collins really doesn't have any good pastry or donut shops. There buttermilk donuts are a disgrace to every other buttermilk i have ever had, plus about 50% of the size. They offer no strawberry sprinkle donut, a classic at every donut shop I have been to in California. While I think they are great donuts, I didn't like the masks non-mandatory for employees nor did I like the completely gross kiosk/iPad being used for door dash nor did I care for the clerks serving donuts then handling cash/credit cards then handling more donuts process. I had to walk out even though I had waited in line. Either have separate donut servers from cash handlers or wear gloves between customers. Lamar's high ratings have been well deserved (up to now) -- we go every week or two and treat ourselves to crullers (lower carb/lighter). When we got an email advertisement for fruit filled empanadas for a limited time, we were eager to get some -- we've tried them before and they're excellent. However, we've been checking in at the store every couple of days over the last couple of weeks (since getting the ad) but they have not ever had the empanadas and now in this last week do not have crullers either. On Monday April 25 the manager guy said "the baker didn't get the word to make empanadas after coming back from vacation, but we'll have them tomorrow". I returned the next day and they still didn't have them nor had they before I got there (I asked). When I checked one last time the morning of Thursday April 28 and got the same answer that they didn't have either empanadas nor crullers, I said "maybe we'll have to start going somewhere else". The blond young lady who seemed to be in charge replied "Great!" and "I remember that you've been asking for these" and was smiling as though it made her day to know that we might stop coming. I bought a creme filled long john for my wife, but that's probably our last visit. High reviews from the past don't excuse poor service and lack of delivery on promises now. My husband and I were just at this establishment and waiting in line for several minutes and when we got to the counter to order an older gentleman behind the case asked us to move down and then he proceeded to ignore us and wait on the couple he obviously knew.
