I've never had an opportunity to give two reviews for the same place. 1. Best donuts in town. 2. Incompetent store management. This location never has enough of the most popular donuts while hundreds of other donuts remain unsold. I've been told they would adjust their production numbers to fix it. For 5 months I've been told this. Still no change. Either they don't care about the customer or they are incompetent. The same donuts are gone by late morning every single day. So if you, like me, want one of the three most popular donuts, good luck. I will remove this review when the problem is fixed permanently. read more

I was directed here by a friend as I was looking for a local donut shop rather than a chain. It was easy to find. However, it was much smaller than I expected, there's a couple tables inside and outside. But, there wasn't a ton of variety in terms of flavor choices. The cashier was not very personable and seemed a bit annoyed with how long it took my daughter to choose her donut. know this place is popular on holidays and in general so I ordered at 2am for donuts to be delivered (grubhub) at 11am on Father's Day.Our dad works nights so that's why we had them delivered at 11 am so he would've had time to sleep. place the order early I thought would reserve/hold donuts, but no, 1 only ordered 6 and only got 4/6 we requested and paid for. donuts were good-but picky dad only likes certain flavors. First the good: their donuts are delicious. The not so good: I'm bringing up a first-world problem and realize this may seem a bit petty, but I receive regular emails from Lamars throughout the year as a member of their "donut club". So, after a year full of spam about their donuts, I finally get a birthday email stating "Happy Birthday. Stop in for a donut of your choice to celebrate". So, I go in all excited to grab my favorite raspberry Bizmark "donut "for my birthday treat since I'm cutting down on sweets as I age. But... according to their staff behind the counter, a "donut of my choice" only includes those with a 'hole', meaning I don't really get a donut of my choice, and apparently filled pastries (jelly filled) aren't considered donuts! Think about the goodwill they could have earned if a "donut of my choice" actually meant what I wanted, not what they wanted me to have. How much extra does a jelly "non-donut" actually cost them vs. a glazed crueller on someone's birthday? I had just finished eating breakfast down the street at the Original Pancake House and when asked if I wanted coffee, I mentioned that I had just picked up my free birthday latte at Starbucks). To my unexpected surprise, the server brought out a huge crepe with "Happy Birthday" on it. We stopped in early picked up three donuts. Donut we're OK not stellar. My question is how do I justify $10 for three donuts. These weren't special donuts these were just regular cake donuts. I might be off by $.60 on my pricing. But of course, I have to tip him standing there looking at me because he did something outstanding I guess. A donut is not just a donut. If you are true donut fan you seek out the best. Wanting to suprise my best friend in Loveland during the COVID-19 crisis, I decided to order her some donuts and coffee. I stumbled on LaMar's not even realizing their back story but quickly determining they would be amazing and I could support them through this crisis. The dozen managers special - 6 variety, 6 specialty along with 2 cups of LaMar's dark roast arrived safely AND was a wonderful surprise for my bestie. Yeah, decent donuts but not for the price. $16 for two with a medium black coffee (~15% tip). Service is nice enough, I'd come back if it had just cost half as much. The donuts here are good but only marginally better than the Kroger or Safeway bakery donuts. Here, they consider a berry filled bismark or a cream filled long John "specialty donuts". That means just shy of $5 a piece for donuts that cost 89 cents at the grocery store. The donuts here are most definitely not five times better than the latter. At other boutique donuts shops around town $5 gets you almost two actual specialty donuts with unique icing, crumbled candy toppings, and a donut that actual looks and tastes "specialty". I also ordered a medium mocha for more than a venti Starbucks but was handed a 12 oz small. I pointed at the cup size display, pointed at what I was given and said "this is a medium?", which clearly it was not, and the employee just said yes and moved on. They either drastically instituted shrinkflation and don't want to update their display or the single employee they have working doesn't give a shit or is skimming money after we overpay. I'm glad I finally tried this place. Now I know anyone who says this is the best donut in town is full of shit. read more

Is this donut marginally better than Kroger's - yes. Is it worth the 4 dollars more that they charge than Kroger? -no. I had a crème filled long John and it tasted overwhelmingly of fry oil and really not much else. It wasn't bad, but it is absolutely not worth the cost. read more

All you really need to know is that Lamar's donut shops have the best donuts in Fort Collins! I have been to both locations and they are both great! If I had to choose, I would probably choose the other location over this one, but only because it seems they keep a larger inventory and I am more likely to find the donuts I am looking for..my family is very particular about which donuts they like. For me, the old-fashioned donut from Lamar's is amazing!! It's the one that melts in your mouth and tastes even better if you warm it up a little. Some people complain that Lamar's is too expensive. I will admit, they are more expensive than the other options in town, but they are also considerably better than the other guys as well. Don't make the mistake of finding yourself at the "Dunkin" place...they are good for coffee and nothing else. read more

Very dirty and unkept. Coffee was burnt. The service was minimal. Overpriced, sadly this chain has gone way downhill the past 5 years.

We stopped by on a Sunday for donuts and the girl that was helping the customers was extremely rude. She was impatient and rolled her eyes at customers while making their selections. Also, I used the restroom and the sink was broken, there was no water to wash your hands or even sanitizer available in the restroom. The employees use the restroom and return to work and serve food without washing their hands - this is a huge health violation. Final note, donuts are extremely overpriced. read more

This is a newer location compared to the one out on Drake. This store is quite a bit smaller than their other location as well. The donut selection is still great but it seems like you need to get here early to have lots of choices on what donuts you want. There are lots of businesses and offices on this side of town so I think that is what contributes to them getting so picked over. LaMar's is probably the best donut place in town and I think that contributes to their donuts going so fast. I can't really pick a favorite here. I like the pumpkin donuts but there are buttermilk donuts which I often get, among several others. This is definitely a place I could go to much more often but I need to keep moderation in mind. Donuts are almost an instant remedy for this non-morning person. I almost always want something sweet to eat in the mornings. read more

Simply blown away! Walked in to pick up a couple sweet treats and it turned into an experience that changed my day! The donuts delicious and the service was outstanding! Normally I expect donuts to be a little stale as they were probably cooked earlier in the day, but even just before closing the donuts were soft, fresh and great! What really topped off the experience was Steve. He was friendly, attentive and polite. He even offered a couple donuts we've never tried before for FREE! He probably would've thrown them away anyway, but the simple gesture to offer a couple extra donuts for no other reason than to let us try them was really over the top customer service! Tiny, very clean satellite of larger Lamars location on Drake, and they have a lot of donut types, all of which are yummy. Only three tables for seating, so you're playing the odds on seating availability...one star off for that. If you carry out, you're golden. Donuts are superb! Love Lamars donuts! First off, I am not paid for this review nor did I receive free product for the review. My husband and I started a new tradition a few months ago because of this place. But a little backstory first... Have you ever had Dunkin Doughnuts? If you haven't, don't. If you have, You HAVE to give Lamars a try. I had never been a big sweet eater in my life. That is until 4 years ago when I began to help take care of a 90 year old woman with a massive sized sweet tooth to match her massive sized heart. About once a week she would ask for chocolate cake doughnuts with chocolate frosting. They HAD to be from Lamars. Well after a couple of years of this going on I finally gave in and tried one (again, wasn't a sweet eater and I never eat breakfast so I had been nicely declining for a very long time.) AND HOLY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE. You don't understand. Seriously. Its like freaking butterflies and sunshine explode in your mouth. The darn things are dangerous if you have no self control. I had to make this tradition with my husband just so I don't end up 500lbs (not judging, I'm fluffy too... So now to my tradition: The second Saturday of every month has become Smith Doughnut Day. Well you might say "whats so great about that Nelli?" I'll freaking tell you. We buy 24 doughnuts in the am (12 cake for me and 12 raised original for the husband) And that's all we eat ALL day. I kid you guys not, we make ourselves sick by the end of the day because we pound the best doughnuts in Fort Collins all day. Best day of the month. Everyone should try it at least once. read more

I have been going to this LaMar's for a few years now and have enjoyed the service and the boutique atmosphere. While they do not always have the selection the other store does, they make up for it in service and speed. Family friendly location that is geared more for pick up rather than sit down. I just randomly decided to get donuts on a Saturday. I am a healthy and highly trained medical professional that just decided to have a random treat. I went into a busy store that had people lined to the door. I watched in sympathy as the staff hurriedly tried to serve customers and get product put out the door. Distastefully though, I noticed the girl that was handling cash with her long flowing hair down to her waist, decide to go from handling cash straight back to handling donuts.... No gloves or hand washing involved..... Just grabbing donuts with her bare filthy hands and butt length hair and slapping glaze on them. Now that is a health violation if ever I saw one. Maybe random inspections are headed their way... I will never go back that is a given. I guess it was the universe telling me this place was bad for my health in more than one way. read more

This was our first time visiting and you can bet we will be back. Everything was delicious from the donuts (duh) to the coffee. More importantly, though, Patrick gave us and everyone else, some of the best costumer service I have seen in a long time. He hustled to be quick for costumers, always offered to help costumers a to their car with their purchases, and was very knowledgeable about the business. I'm sad to say that I received really poor service at this location. The Drake location has a better selection and friendlier service. I stopped in here shortly after the store opened for business on a weekday. Tom, behind the counter didn't seem very interested in serving the two customers in his store. Perhaps he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. The donut case wasn't full. Many donuts were missing. There were only cake donuts and glazed in the case. I inquired whether there were any bismarks. He said he hadn't brought them out yet, but made no offer to go get them. It was if he had no interest in catering to his customer's wants/needs. Is it that difficult to walk into the next room and bring out a tray of donuts, or even a single bismark if that's what the customer is looking for? I had intended to purchase a dozen donuts. Instead, because of the poor service, I walked out with one donut. I won't return to this location. read more
