Wanted a quick dine-in dinner place to eat at before the movies and decided to try out this place. The place is pretty big but it's kind of crazy due to kids yelling around and stuff. I kind of expected to be like a pub-like area instead felt like being at Boomers or Chuck-e-Cheese restaurant. The prices are slightly high in my opinion, such as 1 individual pizza (4 slices) cost $11.99. The person who took our order was really nice and energetic that I was excited to try out their pizza. We ordered 2 individual pizza, which were The Perfect Game and The Whole Nine Yard Pizza and waited for about 20-25 minutes for the pizzas to be served since it was slightly crowded. We sat by the booth but was slightly uncomfortable but we didn't expect much from the place. The pizza was actually good with a lot of toppings and was very cheesy. The only thing is that it just feels too overpriced for what we were getting. But it looks like there were pretty good deals during lunch time so maybe I'll try out their lunch specials if I ever get the chance. read more

Lamppost Pizza is a gem. Situated next to the Cinepolis theater, it has amazing pizza and a full bar. Aside from the bar, the family-friendly side of the restaurant is a "pay at the window" service with self-serve soft drinks. For some reason our 'whole nine yards' pizza had hardly any cheese or pepperoni. As I was eating it - I knew something was off. It wasn't until I realized my slices only had one pepperoni and it was at the..top? That was a little disappointing. Because it didn't have enough pepperoni or cheese.. I felt like My pizza needed salt :( it had a lot of toppings which is great but pizza needs lots of cheese and pepperoni too. we also got the linebacker, that one was a little better. Years ago they closed the location in riverside. Today we were in Ocean side and was looking to get something to eat and I notice Lamppost Pizza had to give it a try I haven't been there for what maybe 20 years. I almost skipped this place because of the negative reviews on the slow service. Not sure if people didn't realize its an order at the counter type of place. You even get your own drinks, settings and to go boxes at a station. Glad we just chose to go. We had a great meal and it was super convenient for going out before our movie. We got large Mediterranean and Best of Seven specially pizzas and a family sized salad for our table of five. It was more than enough food for everyone with loads of leftovers. Everything was excellent! The toppings were plentiful and fresh and the hand tossed crust was a perfect combination of airy and chewy with a crunch on the outter edge. The salad was super fresh as well. As far as the staff, they noticed us and took our order right away. The food took no time to be delivered to our table. They didn't mention anything about the system of getting your own utensils, etc. So I can kind of get the confusion others may have had. But it didn't take us long to figure it out on our own. I didn't expect Lamppost Pizza to be this kid-friendly since it's connected to the BackStreet Brewery. Normally, that first comment would be a compliment; in this case, it wasn't. I'm pretty disappointed that my friends chose this place to get food.. Immediately upon arrival, I noticed there were kids (middle schoolers) all over the side porch. But they were also all over the inside too- running around and punching each other.. like average 12 year old boys do I guess. It felt like I was at a Chuck E. Cheese. It was loud, crowded, and the kids were themselves all over the place. As I was waiting in line to order, I witnessed another server yell at a kid, who was much younger than the rest, that she didn't have time to deal with his questions and she didn't know (and therefore couldn't show him) how to use one of the electronics that sat by the counter. I'm not sure if she knew the kid, but it was shocking to see a server yell at someone, much less a kid of a customer. It was so crowded that there were no open/clean tables. I had to move someone else's empty water cup from a table just to have a place to sit. When I got my food, I realized I had no utensils so I went to grab a fork. There were no more forks in the bin so I stood in line to ask for one. Instead of giving me a fork first, she told me she would refill the bin so I had to wait for that. And apparently since they were so swamped, they ran out of metal ones and I had to use a plastic one. I hated the ambience. The food was decent- I really like their garlic bread and the spaghetti was pretty good. Service was decent at best. The guy who took my order was very nice and accommodating, but he was the only one there that was.. We used to get pizza from Lamppost every Friday night when they first opened, but stopped a couple of years ago. The quality changed and it seems like it can be hit or miss. They're back to the original crust recipe (soft, almost spongy) which is just okay. I prefer a thin crust or a thick crispy crust. But the sauce makes up for the so-so crust - not too spicy, not too sweet. And they don't skimp on the pepperonis. Prices are (still) expensive, $25 for a large 16" pepperoni pizza. So be sure to print out the coupons from the website - Buy a large, get 1 for 50% off, 15% off your order, or the $27 Family Feast (14" 1 topping pizza, 2 salads, and 4 drinks). Was really surprised by how dead it was. 5:30 p.m. on a Friday night and only a couple other customers besides us. Not sure if the sale of Krikorian has hurt business or if things have just slowed down. Staff was okay and accommodating. There are customizable and specialty pizzas. I decided on the pesto supreme, which is a vegetarian pizza with pesto, tomato, artichoke, mushroom, garlic. An individual size is available, and should be able to feed one person. The pizza has a good portion of toppings. The crust is just okay, it's on the thicker side, but for me seems to be different than standard crusts elsewhere. It's not bad, just slightly different. Great and quality ingredients in the pizza, on top of a great variety.
