Came here last night and had a very odd experience. Our group of 7 went to sit outside around the fire and were going to grab a drink around the bar, but the server said she could bring food and drinks out to us so we said perfect. Our group was pretty hungry so when ordering drinks 2 of us started with appetizers as well. So far so good, but when trying to order is where everything shifted. After dropping off beers someone asked to order and she took his order and started walking away, someone else said can I order as well and after making an annoyed sound she took his order then started to walk away. Then I said can I order as well and then she slammed her notepad on the table next to me and asked for my order. After she ran away, note only 3/7 people at the table had been able to put food in. My guess is she was busy which is ok and we'd be able to understand but there was no communication just rude remarks. My appetizer comes out, but I still didn't have the soda I ordered (everyone else did have their beers though) so my husband went to ask the bar for a soda and another rude employee just handed it to him without acknowledging him simply put her hand out while turning her face away. Server comes back later and someone asks to order, and server responds with is anybody else ready to order one at a time. I respond with we were all ready but you keep walking away and taking orders one at a time. I'm not sure what her situation was, but the lack of professionalism and service here is why I won't return to dine in. This is disappointing because the location and set up is great. We came to eat here tonight and did not have a good experience. It all started when we ordered. We did end up with a new guy (he was doing his best) he asked for help from those training him because something happened on his end after we gave him money for the order. Those training him were making it confusing. We were told to sit down. We went and sat and waited and waited. Started to notice that others behind us were getting their food. We go to the counter to ask where our oder was. They said they didn't have our oder so we asked for our money back (we did not have a receipt because we were never given one). Those training the guy did not believe us and did not want to give us our money back. They then said come back in 48 hours for your cash we kept pressing. They then told us they can only give us $20 back in cash and the rest on a gift card. That was not ok with us. Then they said ok $20 in cash now and we would need to come back in 48 hours for the rest. We did keep pressing and we did get all of our money back. Okay. Liked the location. Outside in the evening with the fire pits going. People watching while they walked to and out of the movie theater was the highlight of the evening. It was an early saturday evening around 7 pm I am sorry to say our server was bumbling. Unorganized and not very good. Seemed like a nice person but the service was not good. Drink came incorrect. Ordered the taco pizza and my husband loved it. Asked for some banana peppers cause they put so little....she brought it after we finished eating and was ready to pack up. The floors were dirty, that's the first thing I noticed. Portions were good. The prices were decent. Everything is almost self-serve: drinks utensils, boxes, and condiments. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, which was standard. I wouldn't hurry back any time soon though but if I return, I'd want to try their pizza. read more

pleasantly surprised -- experience was, for the most part, much better than i expected. was kinda dreading going. got dragged there for an extended family-in-law pre-CHRISTMAS dinner (and my wife has two brothers and two sisters and they're all breeders. hey, i've got five kids, i can say that without judgement). but the company was enjoyable even if the noise level (without including our group) was rowdy enough to make conversation difficult. salad was HUGE. lightly dressed (hate cloying dressings) with fresh ingredients. pizza crust was a bit spongey (my prejudices run towards thinner, crispy crust pizzas) -- good for the style just not my preference. ingredients were generous (we ordered sausage and pepperoni, the kid's favorite). didn't see the "doggie" boxes for leftovers by the drink station until after i waited in line at the register -- my bad. nice selection of beers. had an underaged kid on the register who not only couldn't pour our beers but couldn't answer any questions -- probably not the best idea that we had to wait while he found somebody "legal." *** NOTE TO MANAGEMENT *** i'm guessing you were busy in the kitchen making sure things ran smoothly but every once in a while you need to check the dining room. we were there for nearly two hours and tables that needed busing when we got there still need busing when we left. also, good idea to ask the guy pouring beer not to "palm" the glasses from the top when serving -- grab 'em from the bottom so he can keep his greasy mitts off the rim where my lips are headed. read more

We agreed to a small pizza. After our pizza was served, Rachel the manager came to apologize and refunded our money we had paid for our pizza. We explained that wasn't necessary, but she insisted. It is very rare to eat at an establishment now where the service is friendly, and if a mistake is made, they right it. We really appreciated the personal sentiment of Rachel coming to us to apologize. Our food was delicious, the atmosphere was family friendly and it was clean. I went to Lamppost Pizza for the second time around, and I had a more memorable experience. Tuesdays are 8 dollars off 2 medium pizzas, so that was cool. I had a Groupon, so I decided to invite the family out for dinner. The bar was really busy, but the restaurant was more laid back. Decided to get a mushroom pizza (large for about $20) and a few beers ($3.50 a pint). The pizza was fresh, with a great sauce to topping to cheese ratio (not too much). The beer I tried was a brown that was brewed by them (they're connected to Backstreet Brewing, literally). It was flavorful and rich, plus it went well with the pizza so I was sold. The prices can be a little high on the pizzas, but they are great pizzas. Also, the menu has a lot of appetizers and sandwiches that are reasonably priced. It's setup for families as well, which is nice if you have kids. Tip. If you're go to the restaurant side, you walk up to the counter and order. They'll give you a number (pour you a beer if you order one) and you go sit where you feel like it (aka an open booth or table. It's never polite to just take over someone's table right?). It's not that obvious when you walk in for the first time, so I didn't want you to look like you're lost. For a nice family type place, with a good bar, this is a place to try. read more

The picture of the Garlic chicken pasta they have on doordash is VERY misleading. It shows penne pasta, I got spaghetti noodles for some reason. I didn't get any cheese on it either like it shows. Had a really weird smell to it also. Once I took a bite I immediately said NOPE. Tasted like they threw some old sauce on it and stuck it in a microwave and also the chicken was mushy and the overall taste was very bland and off putting. Not to mention my garlic toast was burnt. The pizza from Lampost is ok but the appetizers suck the fat one, which brings me to the heating situation. This has improved over the past 6 months but at one point there was only one working heater. Since then they have upgraded and finally got their heating situation sorted out. Piggy backing on Rob S. and his post regarding his experience. I was at this location the same time as this man and his family. I was sitting at a fire pit table, not the one he was at (there are 2). I personally asked to have the table turned off, after it had been lite by a group of people who had left. The group who lite the table to start gave the same reason "we just wanted it for ambiance", clearly noting the weather didn't warrant it! Ya, July in San Diego...the fire pit isn't a thing. Lindsay (the waitress) handled herself in a way I would call classy. I wouldn't have been so cool and calm being yelled at, cursed at, and generally disrespected. Having a "bad" experience doesn't give you a free pass to treat people poorly. I've come here several times, it's a great spot, great food, reasonably priced drinks, and a staff that is spot on with their service. I can't name a single time I've ever had a bad experience, in fact, if you did you really had to try to have the bad experience. This team goes above and beyond regularly. In short, I witness the behavior of this patron and it was appalling. His wife was clearly embarrassed, the excessive use of curse words to the staff was totally out of line, and the demanding of free food is super tacky. It's unfortunate that a people behave this way and then throw out the "Well I'm going to Yelp you"! Hopefully one day there is a reverse Yelp, where restaurants can Yelp the customers. If that was a thing, I'd recommend not serving this guy ever. Take the loss of the $30, it's not worth it. Shout out to the amazing bartenders who made sure each customer had a drink and never waited long for a refill, to the wait staff who were doing their all to serve customers way after last call (myself being on of those customers, sorry and thank you for not pushing us out)!! read more

Lamppost is that one spot I can say I'm a long patron of. Been coming here for about 4 years now, usually on Monday for $3 pint night but it never disappoints. It's a pizza place next to the krikorian who also has a bar and they brew their own beer. They have a large outdoor patio with now two firepits that everyone usually gathers around. They've got great beer at decent prices $5 and their pizza is pretty good too. I usually like their cheese bread which runs you about $6.
