Backstreet Brewery was one of those wildcards picked for a Tuesday date night; Daryl and I were all geared to go watch Contagion, but wanted to grab food within walking distance. Chipotle? Had that two days ago. Panda? Er... maybe. Sushi place? I wanted something warm. Neither of us was feeling Mexican food. Since we recently ate pizza, Lamp Post seemed like another avoid-me-for-now place. When we walked into BB, we didn't realize LP and BB were one in the same. We grabbed a seat in the bar area, since there were more TVs to choose from and looked at the menu. Meh food for high prices. This is not where you go for dinner. We ended up ordering their sampler plate of sorts, which came out to us in a literal mound of wedges, wings, and mozzarella sticks. I'm using the word literal literally... it's like everything was fried together and just unceremoniously dumped all onto a plate. They were alright, but it was hardly filling. Despite that we still couldn't figure out what to order on the menu, and ended up going to Panda and splitting a plate. The service was decent; our waitress was very nice and encouraging, especially when we picked from the home brews. Unfortunately, I'm REALLY not a beer drinker, but I had "Murder by Death," I smelt the burbon, but couldn't taste it... I really had to power through that stout and wash it down with wedges. I can't tell you if it tasted great since I hate that bitter/hoppy flavor, but I will tell you this: that $h!t'll get you fcuked up. For that, I may just come back. I have been here at least four or five times now, and have ordered something different every time. They keep the menu small, so if you're one for a big menu of entrees this might not be your place. Pizza is in my opinion their best selling option here since it's interconnected with Lamppost Pizza. Besides pizza they have all the usual as you would expect from a brewery/pizzeria, they have their salads, subs, and pastas; what they do have a hefty variety of are appetizer choices. Try the rib tips! The food in my opinion is rather bland, tasty, but everything I've tried just has no "personality" that really makes the food one of a kind. What might be lacking in food, is made up for with beer. They keep up with an always changing menu of local brews and seasonals that you might not find at other restaurants/micro breweries! I've been able to try some beers here that I would not be able to find anywhere else but the supplying brewery itself! Go in and seat yourself! Service is always good and I've never had to wait extended lengths trying to wait for a server. The servers know their beers well and have a well rounded knowledge of the menu. Went here to get some pizza and beer and was highly disappointed. The restaurant was not Covid friendly at all. We were not given any direction on what to do once we go to the restaurant. We were approached by a rude employee when entering. We then got a table outside it was very dirty. We asked for it to Clean and it took about 20 minutes for them to come clean it. The menus are NOT Paper and they were "short" on menus so it was one menu for one person. Very short staffed and would not recommend coming here. read more

It was very disappointing to see & breath cigarette butts in a fire pit located in the middle of the table! We thought about walking out because it smelled so bad like cigarettes! Backstreet Brewery/Lamppost is a solid business in downtown Main Street Vista. Myself and a couple girls from work love to come here after our shift just to hang out and have a couple of drinks and split an appetizer. The service is good (especially Zac and Meagan!) and the ambiance is fun and relaxed. I love the patio seating with the heaters and fire pit - it's great for people watching too :) As far as what's (usually) on tap, I'm a fan of the Jagged Lil' Pilsner more than anything. There's another really light beer a friend of mine ordered which I found to be pretty good too. I wasn't a fan of the double IPA or the Rita Red Ale... but maybe that's just me. The pizzas are great, the salads are good, and I wouldn't order the sampler platter again. I'm glad Backstreet is on Main Street! read more

My family watched an evening movie at the theater next door. The movie ended around 9:40pm on a weeknight. We had a late lunch and had popcorn at the movie. We needed some dinner quick and easy before heading back to our hotel for the night. I was not able to use the Yelp app to place an online order, but I did call in for takeout about 20 minutes before the movie was ending. The young woman that took my order was helpful in determing the right size pizza for my family. Walked out of the movie and the pizza was ready. SO MANY TOPPINGS! I noticed right away that the pizza box was heavier than usual. It was almost deep dish level of toppings. We got half linebacker and half the whole nine yards. It was a challenge to not lose toppings while eating the slices of pizza. The quality of the ingredients was good. Would love to come back to try other items on their menu. read more

I recently moved back to North County, and am trying out my pizza options. Lamppost was super conveniently located, but I can imagine parking becoming a PITA when it gets busy. Lamppost is decidedly a family restaurant; kids an parents seemed to make up 95% off the patrons, and the place was full. I ordered a large pepperoni, a safe bet on a first visit at any new place you go to. Large was a large, not huge or skimpy, but at $26 I was surprised. I was more let down when I set into it. properly cooked cheese and meat (considering they go through an oven on conveyor belt Quiznos style) but the crust was rubbery. A reheat the next day on a grill crisped up the bottom dough to my preference, but the crusts were still throwaways. I noticed a much smaller shop across the street I will give a shot next. read more

Tried a flight taster & the beer selection was really good! The large pizza was huge & way too big for 3 people. We ordered the supreme one & it had lots of veggies & meats- it was very fresh & yummy. We also ordered mozzarella sticks. The marinara dipping sauce was especially good because it had meat in it. It was in a mid price range for everything but the food & beer was good. We sat on the patio which was nice & there was even a duck chillin' on the patio with us too. I was surprised to learn that Backstreet Brewery is actually a little chain, with locations in Irvine and Anaheim as well as this one in Vista. The one in Irvine is also inside a Lamppost Pizza. The one in Anaheim is a tasting room and production brewery. To my knowledge, all the house beers on tap at the Vista location were made on location. They have a pretty large system that adorns the back end of the bar area. I guess one of the reasons I was surprised that Backstreet has multiple locations was because this one was a bit underwhelming. It wasn't bad, it just felt a bit amateurish for a large sports-bar type of place. I didn't try the food, but Yelp seems to think it isn't that great. The bartender made a point of selling the house beer over the guest list, which is probably a good move business-wise, but he did it in a way that felt off-putting. Locals and regulars dominated the crowd, with a fair number of "bros" and a fair number of retired guys. The location is immediately next to a movie theater. I found the parking to be inadequate; be prepared to walk a bit, especially in the evening. Backstreet is not far from the little triangle of beer I reviewed recently, made up by Mother Earth Brew Co.'s tasting room, Wavelength Brewing, and the Belching Beaver Tavern and Grill. When we arrive the host said we could sit anywhere as it was open seating and that was it. 30 MINUTES passed by and No One, and I say No One acknowledged us. Sometimes my service here is awesome, sometimes it's not ~ I spent a lot of time here in the beginning of the year watching Kings games and the Giants playoffs, so I think I've been here more than an average amount...for a while there my girlfriends and I were even calling it "our local" as it was kinda our central meeting location. Tina was often our waitress and she was great...quick, efficient and always checking in to see if we needed anything else. She made sure I always had extra limes in my drink which I thought was awesome because I'm pretty sure I bitched the first few visits because the bartender always put a skimpy lime slice in my vodka/tonic. However, the occasions we haven't been served by Tina the service has been just okay. Even so, I'm still okay with it as I know I'm not there for fine dining or amazing craft cocktails. The time I was here before this visit (it was a couple of months ago) I got horribly sick the next morning...the only thing I had to eat or drink the night before was a vodka/ketel. I AM NOT SAYING THE DRINK MADE ME SICK...I'm just saying that ever since then I have not been able to even fathom drinking vodka and tonic AT ALL. It's kinda like if ya vomited Fireball through your nose then you'd probably not be a fan of cinnamon tasting things for a while, ya know? Ever since then I've only been back this one time and I can't say see myself coming back again soon...maybe next year to watch a game or something... Review is for service. We are regulars here and have all our family gatherings and birthday parties here, but after our experience last night I will be looking for a new venue. We came here with a group of 13 to celebrate a birthday. We were seated a table outside on 2/9/22 on the brewery side. We initially ordered one pizza inside to get our food going for hungry kids, and then walked outside and put our number on the table and waited to order drinks, and additional food. We wait 20 minutes. I see the server is sitting inside drinking with her friends. Several other tables are wondering about ordering drinks too. Finally I ask her if we can order some drinks. She walks over and we order sodas and she walks away before we can say anything else! She brings back the soda cups and then runs off again! We had a very similar experience as the other reviewer who commented that she kept "running away." Frankly it was bizarre but it was clear she had other priorities. I didn't get her name but this is a woman with full sleeve tattoos on her arms and black hair. She proceeded to ignore us the rest of the night and drink and socialize with friends while multiple other tables were ignored and frustrated. We were not the only ones. It became a running joke outside with all the tables who would get helped. We ended up ordering at the bar each and every time. However I want to compliment Chanel! She was running around, covering the bar, serving, cleaning tables, running food and doing everything she could with a smile on her face and working so hard to pick up the other waitresses slack. This is not the first time I've seen Chanel working so hard and always smiling and checking in on tables. She deserves a raise! We made sure to tip her and her and the bartender received $100 worth of tips instead of this other woman. The woman celebrating the birthday told me "I've never been made to feel so dismissed in my life" when talking about the other waitress. Very disappointing but kudos 10x to Chanel! read more

First time here, not probably coming back. Its Sunday evening and the staff is obviously wanting to go home, we aren't exactly feeling welcome.
