We purchased a few LED recess lighting fixtures many years ago, and recently there was one light was getting dimmer and pinkish. So I went to the store to ask if I could get any information from the manufature and to see if there was anything they could do to replace the weak recess light. I talked to Alisha, and she assured me to check with the manufacture for me. A couple of weeks later, she called me and told me that the manufacture would like to replace the lights. My experience with this store has been positive. I'm a first time customer of Lamps Plus on Stevens Creek in San Jose. The store has a decent selection of lamps and ceiling fans. My focus was a contemporary arc floor lamp. With the assistance of Suta in Sales, I found a quality product at the store for a reasonable price. Suta was helpful, cheerful, and knowledgeable. Though the lamp was well-made, the solid marble base was missing a small part. Since I live 40 miles one way from the store, Ranzu Lamba, the store manager, promised to send the replacement base to me via UPS to save me a trip. He was courteous, knowledgeable and attentive. I later learned that as I spoke to him on the phone about the defective base, Mr. Lamba was about to leave the store to attend his mother's funeral in another state. Yet he handled my problem professionally, promptly and proficiently. Subsequently, he followed up with me in e-mail and on the phone to ensure that the lamp worked well. Ranzu and Suta demonstrated pride and respect in what they do---rare finds in retail today. Made inquiry, advised site, and was told they'd have to check with a supervisor and get back to me. When they did, I was advised they could not match it. I felt this was false advertising as they would not honor their claim. So.......don't expect a price match with add'l 20% discount of difference. Stevens Creek Lamps Plus has the worst service I had experienced. I bought a $300 ceiling fan in Jun 2011, after it installed, the cover of the light cracked after two months. When I brought it back to the store, the personnel tell me that people sometime abuse it or don't know how to handle it. How can someone abuse the cover on the light of a fan up on the ceiling?? Initially they refused to replace for it, but I told them its still under part warranty, they should replace it. Finally they said they'll replace it for me but they have to order it. After waiting for 8weeks, they finally called me and said the factory had discontinue making that cover, they said they don't know what they can do. I have a fan with a crack light cover that I paid $300 for....very disappointed at how Lamps Plus is handling this. read more

My wife and I were looking to replace two ceiling hallway fixtures, so after going to Home Depot and being underwhelmed by the selection, we decided to go to Lamps Plus, figuring we would pay more for a quality light fixture. We selected this nice looking fixture from their ceiling display and ordered two of these at $70 each, several times the "cheapo" fixtures at Home Depot, but again we figured you have to pay for quality. When the fixtures arrived, I was very disappointed to find that BOTH of the very thin plastic shades were cracked. I took them to the store and they indicated they did not stock parts at the store so would need to order new shades. They arrived in about a week. On installing the fixtures, I was again disappointed at the very thin gauge of the metal frame and the poor quality of the hardware. I had to physically disassemble one of the units and re-tap one of the finial heads in order for the unit to go together. You can't even hand tighten the mounting screws without bending the metal frame. Once installed, the units look nice, but we had hoped that by paying two or three times the Home Depot price, we would be getting quality merchandise. Instead we got cheap Chinese quality at made-in-USA prices. By the way, the boxes say "Made in China", so I'm not just guessing. read more

This company is wonderful! We had a death in the family and wanted to send a specific Dale Tiffany lamp as a memory lamp to the funeral. We found the lamp on Amazon and other places, but there was no way the shipment would reach the funeral home in time. I called Lamps Plus and spoke with Bonnie in customer service. She matched the price that we found on Amazon and contacted the manufacturer and explained the circumstances. They worked together and was able to get the lamp to us just in time! We are so very grateful and think this company is awesome!! read more

I ordered a ceiling fan for our bedroom and immediately after paying for the installation,($80) the fan started clicking LOUDLY so that we could not sleep. After two service calls for the electrician to see if he could fix it, at MY expense( another $80), he could not. I called customer service. At first they would do nothing to help. After arguing hard and working up the chain of command, the best they will do is refund the price of the fan and send me a new one. I still have to pay for the removal of fan #1, and installation of fan #2( another $160). All in all, they are asking me to foot the bill for a defective fan to the tune of $240. I have never been so disgusted with customer service as with this company. And what got me really worked up was this canned comment, " I can certainly understand your frustation about a ceiling fan issue, but I am working with you on this, and will meet you half way with the expense." HALF WAY???? what kind of company expects their customers to foot 1/2 of the expense of a defective product???? NEVER will I do business with them again. EVER. I'm out $160 in installation fees and $130 for a fan that doesn't work. It's criminal. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Bad business. Six landscape lights, $ 215 (way over priced) all died after 5 days. Found you can screw & unscrew body tweak them to work nightly. 4 work this way, 2 died completely, one the stake broke from housing super easy. Totally rip off. And short warranty allows Lamp Plus to assure being ripped off. read more

Nice fan with lights that my lad wanted. However, since they didn't have the lamp we wanted at the store we asked them to deliver and install it. They said OK. Then the day before it was to be delivered they changed their story and weren't going to deliver it unless we paid $180. So we picked it up. Then the installer didn't have the right things to install it with! He had to leave, said they would call us to reschedule. That was early December and we still haven't heard from them. read more

It is not an honest store. We bought a lamp and was told it will arrive at store by today. When we call in to check, we were told that for some reason, it didn't arrive. They want us to wait one more week. We called some other store,and was told this lamp is a special order, and officially it takes at least 2 weeks to get shipped. So we were tricked at the first place! We had to cancel this order, not to mention the week got wasted in waiting, where we should go to find another lamp, so as not to delay our schedule. read more

bought 8 LED landscape path lights 15 months ago.....now that some of the LEDS are failing, the company advises the LED lights are not replaceable and the entire fixture is useless and should be discarded!!!!no where in their literature do they mention NON-REPLACEABLE LED's.......the fixtures I purchased have been discontinued, but they are still selling similar non-replaceable LED fixtures...be very careful of these people read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. I ordered a lamp which arrived in a generic brown cardboard box filled with styrofoam. The lamp turned out to be very different than how it was displayed in the pictures, so I decided to return it. Lamps Plus refused to accept my return however, since I had torn the generic brown cardboard box it came in. They said that since I did not have the plain brown cardboard box in perfect condition, they could not accept the return. Apparently they do not have any extra cardboard boxes at the Lamps Plus warehouse, and now I am stuck with a $150 lamp I do not want. I highly recommend never doing business with them. read more

WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER. When I first purchased my dining room table, they told me it wasn't on back order then I found out it was on back order for 2 months. Then my table finally "ships" but gets lost in transit so I no longer have a table and it is on back order again for another 2 months. I went here looking for a table lamp. I brought my own shade to make sure it would match perfectly. I was there at least ten minutes before anyone came to help me. There was not one other person in the store. There was a female salesperson working in the front who knew I was there and never asked if I needed help. I asked the guy if I could remove shades to see how mine would look, he said some of them were tied on with plastic but if I wanted one of those, ask him and he would remove for me. So, after looking a while I find one with the plastic tie and tell him I would like to try it. His response was "well, I'd have to go get the wire cutters." I just kind of looked at him as if to say "REALLY?" Geez...what happened to customer service. So he gave me a sigh, then went off to get wire cutters. While he was gone, I found another lamp I liked better. So I told him I liked this one better and he wouldn't have to go to the trouble to cut the tag. Instead of being pleased, he looked further annoyed. When I showed him the lamp I wanted he told me it comes with a hanging shade lamp. The hanging lamp was really ugly and I didn't need it. I told him I didn't want the shade lamp was happy to pay the price for the table lamp. He just started removing the shade lamp with a ladder and said "sorry, you have to take it." I said "I have to take it? Can't you just give it away? I don't want it and have no place for it." He was so rude and kept saying "YOU HAVE TO TAKE THEM BOTH." By this time I was so annoyed with the complete lack of service and rude manner of this guy, that I just walked out. I cannot believe that rather then be helpful and accommodating, this guy totally lost a sale. Business must be very good to feel you can treat customers like this. read more

I have bought several light fixtures from here over the past several years including two just a few weeks ago (but not from this location). They only had one light in stock but an older gentleman employee was quite helpful in calling the Blossom Hill store to confirm they had two and asked to have them hold them for me until I got there. However, a week later my mom was interested in a table lamp she saw on Lamps Plus' website. Being difficult to actually tell what the lamp looked like from the thumbnail picture (the description didn't even indicate what material it was made out of) we ordered it. It came in two weeks later so we went to go look at it. Immediately upon crossing the threshold we were virtually accosted by an overzealous salesperson. She had a very forceful and strong arm approach that was off putting. When we explained we were there to see a lamp we ordered, she looked totally crestfallen and unhappy. We found the original salesperson who had ordered the lamp and he went in the back to find it. It took at about 10 minutes before he returned. He then struggled to remove it from the box. It was heavily wrapped in plastic and bubble wrap and impossible to see. So we asked if he could unwrap it. He was very reluctant and only pulled down about an inch of wrapping and asked what we thought. I said we couldn't see it and again asked him to unwrap it. He slowly and carefully removed another two inches and asked if we wanted it. I told him the whole point of ordering it was so we could see what it looked like. He was obviously becoming unhappy with us but slowly revealed another inch or so of the lamp. I asked why he was so reluctant to unwrap it and he said that if we don't buy it and he has to return it, the manufacturer wants it returned in the same condition they shipped it. I pointed out that by unwrapping it, the lamps condition would not be compromised--just the plastic wrap and that could easily be re-wrapped and re-taped. He finally lowered enough wrapping to see about half the lamp which was enough to tell it was not what we thought it was. It was ceramic with a cheap paint job. The picture online made it look like a burnished weathered metal. As soon as we indicated we didn't want it, the salesperson became rude and demanded our credit card to credit our account. We tried to apologize for his trouble and thank him for his efforts, but he cut us off by again demanding the credit card. He quickly credited it back and was absolutely dismissive and immediately walked away while we were talking to him in mid sentence. He was so nice when originally placing our order but when it was apparent he was not making a sale with us, his demeanor completely changed. The salespeople work solely on commission we were told. This is one salesperson who should find another line of work. The whole experience was so bad that I will have to reconsider doing business with them again. Their loss since my husband and I have our own electrical contracting business and will most likely be taking our business elsewhere in addition to not directing any of our clients to them. As a side note, we went to Galaxy lighting as soon as we left and received impeccable and professional customer service. read more
