Lan is slashie mixing the best elements of Filipino/Japanese/Korean/Thai/Vietnamese cuisine, all of which have some Chinese influence. This makes it a 6-way super fusion restaurant! My compliments to the chef, Johnson The, for making it work, because I didn't think it was possible. There's just an insane spectrum of flavors and ingredients to contend with. I'm not going to speak for his intentions, but I think his idea is to the take the most well-known dishes from the aforementioned cultures, and tweak them to fit the Miami palate. The service however is at the other end of the spectrum. They routinely forget your substitutions, once I had to return a dish TWICE because it had those foul little poop trees...mushrooms. I didn't want an apology, just an acknowledgment of guilt, I didn't get either. What I did get was a front row seat to the the most deliberate and exaggerated eye rolling of all-time. Yes that's an extreme case, and I still eat at Lan, but you've been warned about the inconsistent service. One employee I've never had trouble with is Bubble Boy. His only job is to make bubble tea. I don't know his name because he's a little shy, or doesn't speak much English, but he's the master of his domain. If you only want a cool treat just go directly to his takeout window. As far as bubble tea is concerned, I'm a one pump chump. The mix, fruit and syrup are all sweetened, so if you let Bubbles have his way, he'll give you his standard 3 pumps of simple syrup and you'll be on your way to Diabetes Meletus. Don't worry though he can make sugar-free and soy versions. For those of you that think the tapioca pearls are like lubed ball bearings, there's coconut, mango or rainbow jelly to choose from...sometimes. There are over 30 flavors, but I love the quirky Asian ones like -- Lychee, Matcha (green tea) and Taro (purple yam). You can even get some that look like they come right off the menu at your local at your local Latin restaurant -- Avocado, Piña Colada and Red Bean. There are excellent lunch specials that range from $7.99 - $9.99 and include soup, salad and California Roll in addition to an entree, but who the hell is in Kendall for lunch? Glazed Spare Ribs - cooked in Thai chili sauce that crisps and caramelizes the meat. Hello sweety meaty! Crispy Calamari - great on it's own, so there's no need to ruin it with the mango sauce it's accompanied with. Korean BBQ Rice aka Bibimbap marinated skirt steak, bean sprouts, spinach, wakame, and kimchee served over rice is a dish that will keep you saying kamsahamnida! Red Curry Beef - skirt steak, sweet potato, mushroom, spinach, onion, and peppers in a curry coconut broth. There's parking but keep a straight razor handy in case you need to cut someone or put yourself out of your misery. It can be a Nightmare on Dixie Street with people doing 17 point turns in their Lincoln Navigators to get into spots that are too small for Mini-Coopers. Frequent Diner Cards are available for $5 and it's simple, spend $250 and you get a $20 gift certificate. I'm about as faithful to restaurants as Kobe Bryant is to his wife, so it doesn't do me any good. If you live in EastKen, SoMi, P-Crest or work in Dadeland Station, I'd say it's still stupid. I'm more a fan of their other restaurant, Yuga in Coral Gables, but 'The Johnson' is still on my watch-list. To avoid the afternoon crazy traffic going back home, my friend and I stopped by the Dadeland North Station area to grab boba teas from Lan Pan. I always love that parking is free and no problem. We proceeded to the order window by the elevators and was greeted by the employee, Cat. I asked for the Cantaloupe Snow but she said they don't have cantaloupes. I wasn't sure what to get, so she suggested that I try a little sample of the Taro Red Bean that she just made for a customer. I was instantly hooked! My friend ordered the Thai Tea with tapioca. The Taro Red Bean snow was delicious, I didn't even know that we can combine flavors. I could taste both the taro and the red bean flavors, both blended very well. My friend usually hates beans as sweets (because he's used to beans being salty), but he liked it too. I thought his Thai Tea looked a bit fake...it was like a weird orange color, but he liked it! The tapiocas were a bit too soft, but I've have boba teas from here before that were done. Cat was so nice and friendly, and even helped me check into my Five Stars Rewards since the restaurant was closed for break. Hands-down one of my favorite Asian spots in Miami. I have been coming here for years and it is consistently amazing. This little gem is located inside Dadeland Station on the ground floor. They offer a variety of Asian dishes from sushi to Thai curries to Filipino rice bowls and more. Their menu is pretty large and diverse, so there is something for everyone. Some of my favorites are the Red Curry Beef, Szechuan Eggplant, Mongolian Beef, Crunchy Tuna Tartare Roll and Thai Donuts (make sure you save room for these!). They also have bubble tea! I love their Thai tea with boba... the bubbles are always fresh and the tea has just the right amount of sweetness. I can't go to Dadeland Station without stopping by their Bubble Tea Window. The service here is friendly and professional. I can always get a table quickly here; even on Saturday night with no reservation, I never wait more than 15 minutes. Best of all, the value here is amazing. The prices are super reasonable, and the portions for the larger plates are huge. They are definitely shareable if you get a couple of starters as well. I purchased a takeout meal close to the establishment's closing time and received my order quickly. ( I worked in the service industry so I know how frustrating it is to have someone order food before closing that's why I chose to get it to go and eat outside while I wait for Lyft)Opting to eat my food on a nearby bench while waiting for my Lyft, I noticed that there were still customers dining inside. Despite this, the staff insisted I vacate the bench, proceeding to remove it while I was still seated and eating the meal I had bought. This situation has left me quite upset, especially since other customers were still dinning inside. Well, passed by this very unassuming restaurant for many years and often wandered, what is it like. However, I was never enough to make the effort. Today in the pouring rain a dear friend suggest we have an early dinner there. I tried choosing another restaurant but he insisted so reluctantly I went. What a pleasant surprise!!!! We ordered a spicy tuna roll, Korean fried chicken, red chicken curry and a Korean rice bowl with beef. Everything was absolutely delicious. Only complaint is, for my taste, the fried chicken was a bit salty. I think it was over brined and seemingly more salt was added to the batter. The atmosphere is very zen and calming. A great escape for such a busy location. Service was adequate. I think the servers should briefly explain the dishes, what to expect. My family has been coming here for ages, and when I worked in the area it was my go-to for lunch. The staff are absolutely wonderful and we love seeing familiar faces each visit. I would have given this place five stars except for the off putting experience we had when we first arrived. My mother and I went for dinner on a Saturday at around 6:15, the servers told us that they would seat us but they just needed to clean a table first. We were seated at a two top in between two other two tops. After we had sat down and had begun looking at the menu, another server came by and essentially accused us of moving ourselves to a different table. She said, "the reason we sat you at that table was because we had a reservation for four people that we were going to seat here." After informing the girl that we were sat at this table, we kindly moved to another table. The gentleman who originally sat us came and apologized for any inconvenience. Besides that, we had the most tastebud tantalizing experience here. We started with brussel sprout slaw and the mushroom wontons. Both dishes were absolutely incredible. My mother and I agreed that we could have eaten a vat of that dish. The mushroom wontons were unique and the sauce was flavorful...I'm not gonna lie, we continued to eat the sauce after the wontons were gone. For our main meal, we ordered the coconut lemongrass chicken and the Mongolian beef with brown rice. I'm not much for sweet entrees, but the lemongrass chicken sauce was out of control, the chicken was moist and tender. Our Mongolian beef was SOOO TENDER and the gravy was perfectly seasoned, I only wish it was a little spicier as we had asked for it spicy. At Lan Pan, I would recommend the stir fry dishes/noodle dishes over the sushi. This time, we went for the two person sushi platter and were somewhat disappointed. There was so much rice and the fish was alright. It didn't really excite or impress. Maybe we should have stuck to sashimi. The rolls we picked were not that special. In hopes of salvaging our meal, we ordered the fried ice cream. It was quite possibly the worst fried ice cream I've ever had. I wish I had taken more pictures of it but it was soggy, the dough was tasteless, and the ice cream was so so. It made me reminisce about other fried ice creams I've devoured before. At Kabuki a Japanese/Sushi chain out west they would layer wonderful, little, carefully cut pieces of pound cake on the outside of the ice cream and they would dip it into a thin tempura batter so it would come out light and crispy. I also love Mexican fried ice cream when they roll the ice cream in crushed corn flakes. This particular fried ice cream from Lan Pan made me feel nostalgic... for the good ol' days. read more

My family found this little hidden gem by the Dadeland area after shopping. They ordered bubble tea and have been hooked ever since. Recently, we ordered via a delivery app. We got side salads that comes with a yummy dressing on the side, milk bubble teas, California roll, and Dragon roll. Everything was so good! We were seated right away but they do have covid guidelines in place and I felt safe knowing that. Some people after us had to wait for the restaurant to be less full. However, wait time was not long for them either. The food was great. I would say some of the Korean short ribs were a bit too rare but the taste was great. The chicken pad Thai was very flavorful and there was an abundance of chicken on it. The potstickers were nice and I have no complaints. One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in a very unlikely location - Dadeland station! They have a great weekday lunch special, and their appetizers are delicious. My favorite is the fried calamari. Their rolls and poke bowls are very good as well. The Thai donuts are our favorite dessert from here. Great place for lunch. The staff is very attentive and kind. The portion sizes are generous. The lunch specials are the best bang for your buck. They come with soup, salad, an order of California Rolls and your main dish, usually for about $10. Other than the lunch specials, their poke bowl is awesome. I like their bowls better than the ones from other poke places, because you actually get a good amount of food here. I find a lot of other poke places in Miami stingy when it comes to the fish.
