I find myself at Dadeland Station often (it has EVERYTHING) and often when I'm weary from shopping, I start getting the itch for something refreshing. Here, they have a convenient window to step up and order without going inside. I usually opt for green tea with an extra flavor like mango or peach. I never leave out the boba (the tapioca pearls) but be forewarned they are quite filing. All of this totals out for about $4. If you want something a little bit heavier, they have fruit smoothies that you can also add some milk to to make for more of an indulgent treat. I've also sat down here for lunch before. Their lunch specials are decently priced and most come with soup, salad and a sushi roll on the side of the main entree. Lan Pan Asian Cafe, (also known as bubble tea heaven to many) is a great little spot located on the first floor of Dadeland Station. It's a pretty large space. They have many tables and a bar. I came on a Sunday around 4 and we were seated right away. There is a bubble tea window if you're in a rush! I originally came for the bubble tea, but we were kinda hungry, so why not? I had the Taro snow with bubbles and it was actually really yummy! I had no idea what to expect. It kind of tasted like a milkshake, a great milkshake! The food was good. Lan where have you been all my life?? Oh that's right! In a big-box mini-mall behind Dadeland. I went here a bunch when they first opened but then I moved a bit further west and soon found my Asian food fix elsewhere. After suffering long disappointments, I knew that I had to return. This review covers only the cooked portion of their menu as I haven't had their sushi in a long time and was never blown away by it. Tonight we returned after an hour long pre-dinner indecision battle involving pretty much every restaurant in Kendall. Thankfully the man and I settled on Lan. He ordered the Mango Snow smoothie which was tropical ecstasy in our mouths. For dinner we shared the "7 flavored" scallops and the vegetable red curry with tofu. The flavours were perfectly balanced and the curry had a wonderful mixture of vegetables beyond the typical peppers. The scallops were pure perfection. Buttery and delicate with a sauce that packed a magical punch with all the right flavours. The service was on point, food came out fast, and we were beyond satiated. TL;DR: tasty food. A little overpriced. The boy and I often come here and order the same things. Here's our breakdown: Appetizer: crispy calamari - this is a must must MUST have if you like calamari. Especially if you love spicy food. The sauce this comes with is what makes this incredibly addicting. :D We always ask for extra sauce on the side. Entree: I usually get the beef or vegetable red curry. It used to be a fav but these days every time I come here, I feel like I've drank the ocean. You might be inclined to discriminate against it due to its close proximity with Best Buy and Target, but that would be a mistake. True to its name, Lan serves up examples of a variety of different Asian cuisines, from Japanese to Korean to Vietnamese and everything in between. You can find traditional Vietnamese seafood-and-noodle bowls on the menu, you can find sushi, traditional Thai red curry and beef, as well as a number of nouveau Asian specialties. I know what you're thinking. #1, it's located too close to Bed, Bath & Beyond. #2, it can't possibly be worthwhile, because any restaurant that claims to be good at everything is good at nothing. Pick a cuisine and stick with it! Thai, Korean, Vietnamese, and sushi, are you kidding me? I'm here to tell you it's no joke, they really can prepare a fine sashimi plate, and then rustle up a credible Mongolian Beef if you so choose. I would recommend the Korean BBQ Rice or the Seafood & Glass Noodles, those are my favorites. Also not to be missed is the Lan Salad as a starter, with their excellent proprietary cilantro dressing and copious mixed greens. Having just finished shopping for school supplies at Target and Michaels we had first gone next door to find the 'fast food rotisserie chicken' was going to take a while. Never having tried this place we were pretty excited. I must admit I was in the mood for Sushi so my hubby and I chose to get a platter for two, and our daughter ordered a noodle dish. The fish in the Sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. The tuna roll was very spicy.. I loved that - the portions good. Miso soup was strong which is rare, not watery like in some joints. I've driven by this restaurant numerous times and never gave it a second thought to stop. I allowed its unassuming facade to lead me to believe it was fast food or something like that. This place is a perfect example that one should never judge a book by it's cover. The reason I decided to visit was an overwhelming positive review by the panel of one of my favorite shows, Check, Please! South Florida (PBS). As each person raved about their meal, I realized I was "so wrong" about this place and must try it sooner than later. I picked out a Monday lunch hour to visit and was surprised to find it extremely busy, with only a few available tables. We received a warm welcome and were seated immediately. The menu had so much to pick from, along with a very generous lunch menu. I selected the Vegetarian Mapo Tofu that was described as silken tofu simmered with vegetables in a spicy chili-bean sauce. I was warned that it was spicy but I fully enjoyed it; approximately a Thai 2 - 3 star, which was perfect. The included starter was a salad, miso soup and a California Roll. Service was impeccable and really, too much food for lunch. So much so, that my meal turned into lunch the next day. To sum it up, lunch was plentiful, friendly, impeccable, tasty and generous. Best Bubble Tea! What's bubble tea? Bubble tea, also known as foam tea, is a sweetly flavored tea beverage invented in Taiwan in the 1980s. I've been there over a dozen times purely for their great selection of bubble tea at the side window of the restaurant! If you've had the type of bubble tea where it was a blend of flowery tea and some kind of artificial syrup and hated it, please reconsider and have one of the smoothie bubble tea flavors that Lan Pan Asian offers! My first run in with Bubble tea involved a disgusting bubble tea as described above and from that moment on I despised bubble tea. My taste buds were reawakened when I tried Lan Pan's Smoothie bubble tea and was reunited and HOOKED in an instant. As of right now I've found that Lan Pan is the only place in Miami that makes Smoothie bubble teas. Only a handful of places actually offer bubble tea and do it poorly. Depending on what type of fruit smoothie you'd prefer, will determine which flavor you should get. It's a smoothie, who doesn't like a refreshing smoothie in hot and humid Miami?! I prefer and cannot resist but get the "Strawberry Lychee" bubble tea with black tapioca pearls. It's my all time favorite. I've tried bubble tea with the other alternatives to black tapioca pearls like the different flavored chobees and jellys and found them to be too sweet and a bit artificial tasting. So I recommend the black tapioca pearls!!! Friends of mine also like the coconut smoothie bubble tea as well as the thai iced coffee or thai iced tea. If you've never had a bubble tea before please know that it IS weird chewing your drink, so be prepared to experience somewhat of a culture shock. You either love it or hate it and I love them! This place is my favorite place when I have need to Asian food. Here is why: 1. Their menu is huge. Any Asian dish or craving you have can be fulfilled here. 2. Everything's I've had here is delicious. I've never ever ever had anything here I didn't absolutely love. I've had the szechuan eggplant, various sushi rolls, green papaya, and the tuna sandwich (which is not like a regular tuna sandwich). I know there is still more to try but i feel like you can't go wrong here 3 BOBA TEA. It's amazing and they have any flavor you can imagine with just the right consistency and boba. Order in and you get a little bit more smoothie in your cup than if you order from the window. It's very fairly priced and if you sign up with five stars, it is very easy to get a free one every other visit or so. Just be careful because it can get filling and not leave enough space for the real food, which is why I frequently just get sushi. 4 the lunch specials. I work about 12 minutes away and travel here sometimes for a light lunch. The sushi they give you during lunch is a little mediocre but still good. The salad and miso soup make up for this. They don't have A TON of options for entrees but i personally like the teriyaki salmon. I've had the shrimp with the tamarin sauce and ofc it was very sweet bc it didn't have anything to dilute the tamarin. What has happened to LAN. The food I'm sure is still great; however, I never had the opportunity to eat it, only order it, as service was so painfully abysmal we left. Some sure signs the staff is suffering morale problems, is no one smiles! They zombiotic in there activities and appear dead on the inside. I disregarded my first red flag, cause all I was thinking about was there Korean BBQ Rice. We were seated, and then the waiting game began, as the clocked ticked by I felt I was in a DMV line, getting nowhere fast. After some fifteen minutes our waitress took our order without even writing it down, she then with her zombie like face and lethargic appearance skirted away, even my Buddhist girlfriend said,"Do you think will see her again". She was right, we didn't! A couple was seated next to us, and low and behold they were served within five minutes of someone taking there order. We of course were dead fish. Others around us were being served, we only ordered two sushi rolls and sweet potato fries, apparently way to difficult to fill the order. It was this time the G/F was getting cranky, not me, but it dawned on my that all the staff had the same dead expression, the owners had sucked the life out of them, there was no one to complain too, it was time to say goodbye! The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the white fish. The salmon and tuna were really good and fresh. The pieces were small, but I thought the overall value of the meal for the price was good. The waitress was attentive and my friend and I were in and out of the restaurant in less than an hour. This restaurant is super convenient located at the bottom floor of Dadeland Station. 1st night at Maimi, this was the closest and first open place we saw... we ran in since we were so hungry....you know airplane food is a bore & scarce. The servers were nice, seems like a family owned environment. We had a chicken fried wonton (it was kind of salty - not very good - and it cut the inside of my mouth because of the sharp fried edges); 1 plate of chinese style eggplant -good; one other plate that I can't remember and 2 bowls of rice, which we were charged for too. I know people like myself will be very hesitant to believe me, but this place was actually decent, good even. Here's the key...realize that it's called pan-asian for a reason. What does that mean? It translates to "do not expect authentic." That, in Kristen language, usually translates to, "don't go there. If you're forced to go, don't order," but I figured if fusion/Americanized is their specialty, that's what I'll order. So, I recommend not getting things that attempt to masquerade as the authentic version, because they won't be satisfying. Don't go in expecting to get a duplicate of what you had in a friend's house or in an Asian restaurant in NY, LA, or a similar place. Expect Americanized, but not the typical. Their version of Americanized was very pleasant. Not the syrupy sweet, oil-soaked Americanized, but rather a sleeker, more streamlined version that actually tastes good and takes a small aspect of the original and gets a little playful with it. Imagine something like curry rice noodles with chinese sausage and veggies. Authentic? Not at all! Good? Yes, actually. I got the Miami Heat sushi and it was pretty good, especially for Miami. I've certainly had fresher tasting sushi, but the overall flavor was nice. A little spiciness from the meat, sweetness from the mango...overall, pretty good. Surprisingly enough, though I wouldn't crave it, I would certainly go back again, if invited, with much less reservations and I'd expect to actually enjoy my meal. The only reason I would only go back if invited is just because it's not the type of food i crave, but not because it wasn't good. But let me reiterate, don't order things that try to pass as the real deal. Stick to the obvious fusion dishes (typically, the ones with the really vague names...and the sushi, which is always Americanized). Very nice, chic decor and friendly service, by the way. The Mister and I used to visit Lan all the time for two items only: the Tuna Sandwich appetizers and Vietnamese coffee! The tuna sandwiches are not your typical tuna and mayo between two slices of bread - oh no no no. These awesome tuna sandwiches are tempura fried sushi-esque triangles with a tuna mixture in the middle of rice and seaweed, drizzled with what tastes like eel sauce and some cream sauce. Absolutely delicious! And the Vietnamese coffee - who doesn't like coffee with condensed milk!?! Our recent visit to Lan was ok - of course we had to order the tuna sandwiches, but we decided to try other items from the menu: Korean BBQ Steak Rice and Thai Iced Tea. Needless to say that both were bland - the korean rice had a hint of the kimchi flavor with some heat, but other than that, the entire dish lacked the flavor it was supposed to have. And the thai iced tea - we've had plenty of thai iced teas from many different places, and this was the worst out of all the thai iced teas we've had. It just seemed watered down - it wasn't as sweet and creamy as it should be. Good thing we ordered the tuna sandwiches to counteract the sad new items we decided to try. We'll definitely come back for the tuna sandwiches and the Vietnamese coffee, and I think we'll just stick to those. I only come here for the boba teas. I've eaten here in the past and their food/sushi was tasty but not tasty enough for me to return. Now, back to the bobas. For $4.25 you get a small tea in a cup with a snap on lid. Don't expect to get the typical sealed lid that accompanies traditional boba teas. I've heard from a former worker that they use powders to make their teas. I can not confirm to deny this because I'm too short to see behind their little street counter. The counter does come in handy if only ordering tea. The tea formulas aren't consistent, and I stick to 3 types: Thai milk tea, lychee and jasmine. Sometimes they are more sweet or creamier than past visits. But I'll keep visiting until I find another place that makes bubble/boba tea. read more

The pearls had a nice soft & chewy texture but no taste to them. Katsu Don 5/10: Good flavors, but the katsu was very soggy. Instead of adding a nice crunch to the dish, the breading was like baby food mush that slid off the thin pieces of pork. Curry Vermicelli 2/10: BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT!! DO NOT ORDER THIS!! I have NO idea how this was one of our waitress' favorite/most recommended dishes. Words cannot even fully describe the horrible experience from ordering this dish. To start with the taste... (or more like lack thereof)... it was just creamy & bland. There was NO FLAVOR and just tasted like mouthfuls of bland noodle with coconut milk or some other creamy substance smothered all over it. Pricing: Definitely on the higher side for Asian food, but perhaps I'm used to west coast pricing where Asian restaurants are everywhere. I would definitely recommend taking that $15-$25 (dinner/weekend pricing) elsewhere. The Korean short ribs were delicious! They had a lightly sweet soy kinda sauce which was plate licking good. The sauce they put is uniquely amazing. I poured the extra sauce on my rice (did not want to let a drop go to waste). I also had some flat noodle beef. It had lots of veggies too, which was a first for me on this dish and I liked it. Second time I came here they overcharge me and act really rude about my order. I made it clear I didn't want milk and the menu says that's an option. The girl yelled "it come with milk" over and over. She wouldn't say not one other thing. She also got nasty about each of my sons orders when I explained the menu says this she yelled "everything boba" over and over. Last time I was here I ordered one boba and was charged for 3. I've visited Lan Pan several times on shopping expeditions. I, however, am wary about asian fusions that serve many cuisines, but all mediocre. So...this review is for all the times I've gotten a pearl tea and hoped it would be better than the last. It never is. First, don't go inside if you want tea. You'll stand near the station and have all the ladies awkwardly eyeball you until a male employee walks by and tells you to go outside to order. To be fair, these ladies are very friendly once you order from them outside. But they don't handle a line well. At the time I ordered, there were 2 couples behind me and they did not acknowledge either of them until we had left - and we weren't blocking the window either, we had stepped to the side to wait. On to the teas themselves. In my hometown, I usually get black milk tea with a scoop of tapioca pearls. Here, it's watered down milk tea that was premixed with a half scoop of tapioca that has not been cooked all the way through. If you spend more than a few chews on each pearl, you're doing it wrong. I've also had the thai tea, watermelon milk tea and the mango milk tea. Also extremely watered down to a point where I'm asking if they forgot to add flavoring at all - then I get a hint of mango, as if I'm drinking wine and there is a whiff of tropical fruit and surprise it's gone! So they charge $5 for watery milk and undercooked pearls. Oi. I will get them some props for my friend who ordered a dark chocolate milk tea (she had asked for white, but they were out), and it legitimately tasted like chocolate. My boyfriend has always recommended this restaurant, specifically for its lunch specials and I'm not sure why I've never ate at Lan Pan Asian Cafe even all those times I came for delicious boba taro tea. Finally, got to go with him and was so surprised by truly how great their lunch special is at this tucked away restaurant in Dadeland Station. The place was packed and I'm glad we got a table since I did notice others waiting during my meal. These lunch specials provide an abundant amount of food because they are served with miso soup, a large fresh greens salad, a small bean sprout salad, and a California roll. We ate all this and Shrimp Dumplings $5.50 as appetizers. The two salads were delicious, haven't had anything similar since the last time I was in Thailand. The Shrimp Dumplings blew us away; can't remember the last time I ate good dumplings like that. For my meal, I ordered the Beef Curry $9.95 which was so good it reminded me of my Thai moms! I was a little irritated though that it did not come with rice considering I always eat curry with some... My boyfriend ended up ordering the Snapper Katsu $10.95 which was a nice size and cooked perfectly. Favorites would have to be the shrimp dumplings and the beef curry, but can't wait to try other items on their affordable lunch menu. This is maybe my 4th time ordering here. I did a review before and gave them 4 stars. I like the place, but my boyfriend doesn't because he says the things he has gotten are too greasy. Anyway, this time I ordered pick-up, and while the food was decent, I was super disappointed they included one little plastic container of rice. I ordered almost $80.00, worth of food, including a soup, a couple of main dishes, a few sides, and when my boyfriend got home there was just the one small container of rice. Not only that but the rice just didn't look good. I had to cook some rice. Not sure what they were thinking, but for an order like this, it would not be the time to skimp on the rice! read more

This review is soley based off of my bubble tea experience. I have not tried their food yet, so be advised. I came here yesterday with my aunt, as she told me they have decent bubble tea here. I have passed this location many times, but never knew about them, since they're pretty hidden! This restaurant has their bubble tea location located towards the back area, with a window outside to order from. It's called Bubble Bar. They do have a pretty decent sized menu, and even offer different drink options for those that do not want traditional bubble tea. There was a small line upon arrival, of maybe 5 people. However, there was only 1 girl working the stand, and she was also catering to the customers eating inside the restaurant. So what should have been a 10 minute wait, was more of 1/2 hour. When it was finally our turn, my aunt ordered a Taro Snow, and I ordered an Almond with milk bubble tea. For those that don't know, the almond flavor is really hard to come by, and of course, my favorite. Unfortunately when I received my tea, it barely tasted like it, and I felt like I was just drinking a cup of milk. I went back to the window, and asked the girl if she could add more of the flavoring in. That's when I find out they use the powder flavor, which is the cheapest, and worst kind. Had the crab and taro coquettes and the Filipino rice bowl. Food was excellent probably why I would come back. The service wasn't up to par. Our server, some young woman with black frame glasses was a tad bit rude and unprofessional. We sat toward the bubble tea bar area. While we are eating we had another employee setup her cleaning area on the table right next to us. Cleaning soy caps as I remember. Food experience was excellent. Staff experience below poor. My father is like the pickiest of eaters. For him to truly love a restaurant that is not a steakhouse is very rare. When I asked him where he wanted to go out to eat for my birthday, without hesitation he said LANS! Lans is conveniently located at Dadeland station so there's a lot of parking and it's not too difficult to get to. I've never waited more than 10 minutes for a table, which doesn't mean that they're never busy because they do get busy. Their turnover rate is just FAST, they get the food out to you fresh and in no time. Speaking of the food, it's so delicious! Whenever I go, I usually get sushi but there are times where I like to switch it up! Their spare ribs are on point and I highly suggest getting it every single time you go there because you will be addicted. Lan Pan is a surprisingly delicious Asian cafe. It is a cute place below Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I end up eating here when I am very hungry post Target runs. The first time I was there, I did take out. It was very busy, and it ended up taking almost a half hour. Fortunately, they accidentally put an extra wakame (seaweed) salad in our order. I gladly accepted it. The second time I actually sat down, and the restaurant wasn't too full. The server was very attentive, and we received our food quickly. One of the reasons I really like Lan Pan is because of its interesting menu. The menu is huge filled with lots of dishes and sushi rolls. Eats: Seaweed salad-The seaweed salad was very yummy and nicely sauced with a hint of oil. Sweet Potato Sticks-This dish was very unique! It was baked sweet potato sticks that were in a tasty orange sauce. This was not typical Asian cuisine, and this may have been my favorite part of my meal. Mushroom Salad-There were a couple varieties of mushrooms, and it was a pretty large salad for an appetizer. Szechuan Eggplant-This was the only dish I didn't like. I asked for it broiled instead of pan fried as they had another eggplant dish on the menu that was broiled (but included tofu). However, the eggplant was SUPER greasy and didn't taste broiled. It was very disappointing because I was really in an eggplant mood. So, I would return to Lan Pan. But, I would specify less oil if I were to order eggplant here again. read more

I have only eaten lunch here so I can't say much about dinner however I can say a lot about the lunch. I work nearby so I often order from this place. They deliver and it's convenient. The food here is also exceptionally delicious. Not to mention you get a good "bang" for your buck. No here is not some illegal Asian in the back giving rub downs. I mean you get a lot of food. There are several lunch specials. My favorite is red curry. It's made well and comes with rice, salad, California roll, and a miso soup. It sounds eh when you see it written. When you see the food you know why the lunch special is $9. You get a good amount of food for that price. I've even had the sashimi special and been full. The service is also good. No complaints. This is a place that I will probably frequent often for lunch as a go to. I recommend it to anyone that's in the area or that at dadeland and wants some sushi/Thai food. read more

Pretty good boba tea. I feel like it's gotten overly sweet over the past few years but it's still my favorite boba tea shop.
