Menu had a good assortment of choices, but the appetizers jumped out immediately. Boudin balls, Spicy surf and turf nachos and a Cesar salad were selected as a meal for the wife and I. Got the Boudin first and it was devoured immediately. A perfect blend of cajun sausage, spices and pepper jack deep fried to perfection and the remoulade was a great accompaniment. The Cesar was delicious. Large portion, crisp greens, tons of shredded Parmesan (not a problem for me) and plenty of dressing. We added 10 lightly fried shrimp that were perfectly done to push it over the top. Surf and turf nachos. Shrimp, shaved beef, queso, cheddar shaved jalapeños and a handful of spices made these THE BEST NACHOS I HAVE EVER CONSUMED!!!!! I have eaten nachos since about the age of 10 (I'm 45 now) and there is no comparison. Period. Michael Minerva' Pub 1842 at the MGM Las Vegas (closed since 2019) used to have the best nacho's. The Tap House in the same building had a Poke Nacho that was a equal substitute. Under The Oak Cafe, you now hold the title for Chris's Best Nacho Choice in North America (a title that's worth absolutely nothing and you certainly don't get a refund). The food was not tasty at all. There was no seasoning and the texture/quality of food was nonexistent. I was disappointed because the aesthetic of this restaurant is beautiful, however, that is all. This is a great place to take pictures, but if you are expecting delicious food, this is not the place. The server was very nice but slammed with tables stating "we are short-staffed." Upgrade to 4.5 stars, two more visits since my first review. The service today at lunch was top notch. Truth be told, our lunch was on comps, but I still tipped 40% on what should have been the bill! I had the shrimp Poboy with fries, remoulade and ranch on the side. Shrimp were well cleaned and perfectly fried. Toasted French bread was on spot. Fries were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. My wife absolutely loved the Mahi tacos. Our server was awesome, I asked her to relay our appreciation for today's experience with her manager. We had a party of 7. We waited about 10 minutes to be sat. But since this sits inside a casino, there is plenty to do. Once we were sat, we were introduced to our waitress. For the life of me I can't remember her name but she was a pretty Latina. She worked the evening the day before Thanksgiving. Three of us ordered a cup of gumbo. Unfortunately, when it came out, the rice in the gumbo was either old or under cooked cause it was hard as rocks. But we spoke to the manager and he replaced them with bowls and new rice. They say that the gumbo is award winning and it was REALLY GOOD . Everyone enjoyed their meals. IF YOU DON'T WANT A LOT OF FOOD, DON'T COME HERE!!! The Caesar dressing wasn't a creamy Caesar that I prefer but it was still good! The chicken was cooked perfectly! As the servers began bringing other meals out to our party, I instantly regretted my salad choice! The fried shrimp smelled incredible as well as the fried pickles! This wasn't the first choice for dinner. Since our first choice was too long of a wait, we settled for Under the Oak Cafe. Our party still had to wait 30-40 minutes before we were seated. The table we sat at was directly under the AC unit so cold air was constantly blasted in our direction as we ate. For a casino cafe, the food was mediocre as it was the typical basic food from any type of cafe but I would've honestly enjoyed it elsewhere. Club sandwich - The sandwich came with fries on the side. Portion size was huge mainly as it consisted of bread. Grilled salmon - If you're following the daily recommendation for protein, this is the right portion. The salmon was the size of a deck of cards. The edges of the fish were dry but the center was cooked perfectly. This dish allows for a choice of two sides. I chose the grilled veggies and coleslaw. The coleslaw was my favorite as it was refreshing and light apart from the other heavy dishes that I sampled. Fried catfish w/ hushpuppies - This was a family member's favorite. I ordered the salmon jasmine rice and broccoli the salmon was a bit over cooked the rice and broccoli was pretty good. Hubby ordered the Ribeye Father's Day special we ordered the bang bang shrimp, fried green tomatoes, 2x wings son ordered the applewood bacon burger no tomatoes and other son ordered the veggie omelette and French toast. I have gone here several times but first time I will provide a review. Being inside a casino, I was prepared for a little larger bill than normal. So you have to hope the food lives up to it. And it does. First off, the portions are gracious which makes the bill a little easier to pay. I started with a house salad and I order it with blue cheese dressing, which i thought would help me prepare to see how my main dish will be. I use the dressing sometimes to judge the meal. A cute cafe right out of Alice in Wonderland, and the food was good too No wait on a Saturday morning for breakfast at 9:30 walked right in. Was sat under the tree in a large booth. Very cute and spacious. Had the Classic Oak breakfast, opted for scrambled egg whites, smoked sausage, breakfast potatoes, biscuit. - plenty of choices to customize your breakfast. My husband got the French Toast. We both had lots of leftovers due to the large portions. Next time we will try the pancakes and maybe a Bloody Mary. They are open for lunch and dinner as well. Me and my wife was in town for Thanksgiving and the night before us and the rest of the family went to the Scarlet Pearl Casino in D'Iberville to eat at the Under the Oak restaurant. We were greeted nicely and our server was extremely nice while seating us for dinner. We all ordered and even though I don't remember what everyone ordered the food was really good. I had the seafood bread which was OH MY GOD GOOD! They give you healthy portion of food as I ordered the shrimp and grits which I didn't know if I could finish (I finished) and everyone else's plate looked really good. The only issue that we had was the gumbo, at first it came out for 3 of our family members (including my wife) with undercooked rice as it was still hard but the definitely made it up with larger bowls and everyone said the gumbo was extremely good. First time in Biloxi for a work trip, staying at the lovely Scarlet Pearl. As soon as we arrived, lunch was an emergency. Funny how plane rides do that to you - we were starving! For convenience, we decided to eat here. It was pretty average, which isn't a bad thing, keep in mind. The Strawberry margarita was strong, and that was fine with me! For food, we had the crab cake and is wasn't terrible but it needed more crab less filler. The pretzels were good though; the beer cheese sauce was yummy. I've been here twice my fist visit wasn't too appetizing. However I thought I'd give it another chance considering it's been a while. A waste of time and money. It took us forever to get sat but even longer to be greeted once we finally got a table. I had to flag my neighbors waiter down to be attended. By the time our waitress finally got to us the table next to me (who was seated after us) was already eating their appetizer while I haven't even gotten a drink yet.
