So a few years ago this guy saw me on a pre surgery visit . and of course i need my teeth pulled. he told me he could make dentures that would work , after the dentures where done and wouldn't fit my mouth. he said it was a risk I chose. We have had to pay over $20k to fix his sub par work that appeared to be great at the time. Today was just one more example when my husband had surgery at Valley Implants and Periodontics. Our periodontist was shocked and we'd both sue Dr. Timmerman if we could. We walked away thinking he was great and his work has cost us pain and $$$$. Lance Timmerman is a terrible dentist. His practice is shady (he basically recommends a ton of his patients get four crowns just at the first visit - I know this because I was referred to him by someone I knew and she said the same thing. A second opinion from another dentist confirmed that I didn't need crowns on ALL FOUR of my back teeth. I don't know any other dentist that is emailing patients asking them to come back. I interviewed Dr. Timmerman to make sure he was what I needed for a dentist - one who was fairly quick (my last dentist of 14 years was so nice but so slow that my jaw developed severe problems from several appointments in a row where I had to have my mouth open for so long due to a crown that repeatedly broke just as it was being seated....and I just couldn't hack it anymore.) I also have MS and pain affects me differently than other patients. I wanted to make sure my dentist understood this and would be willing to prescribe pain medication when needed. Dr. Timmerman said he understood and would be glad to have me as a patient, and I saw him for several years. But he soon reneged despite meetings I arranged to remind him of my needs, and he was suddenly very hard to talk to.I got the feeling as time went by that his own needs were far and away more important to him and he seemed to have no qualms expressing this - could hardly wait to get rid of me in fact. A secondary but definitely highly annoying aspect of his practice is the amount of reminders of appointments via email, cell phone, text message, and land line constantly coming in absurd. When I requested they cut back on these I was told it would be too much trouble as the doc handled these himself. The messages contradicted each other as well. I even started to get the feeling that something was bothering the doctor -- he seemed very unwilling to talk with me - only zipping in when the staff had me ready for him, doing his work (quickly, as I had requested , and this was good) -- but it was perhaps a bit too good as I felt he was unavailable to have any kind of talk except the type where he told me what his position was and did not appear to listen to my concerns about our previous agreements being cast aside. What finally made me decide to find a better dentist was when I had an emergency which the oral surgeon he'd referred me to for dental implants told me to go right then down to Dr. Timmerman for emergency treatment. The surgeon's staff called ahead for me. I went to Dr. T.'s, waited an hour or so, then got to talk to the receptionist who told me they would not be able to help me no matter what the surgeon thought about the immediate care needed... When I said I was disappointed that he refused to see me for a few minutes or even talk to me about what the problem was, I was blown off with a "sorry we can't help you." Tears of pain and disappointment were met with indifference. I went home and wrote an email to Dr. T. about the problems I was having with his treatment (basically all the above), and how sad I felt that he didn't seem to care about the emergency I was having. What I got in return from Dr. T., who did not answer my specific questions, was a sentence fragment to the effect that I should seek treatment elsewhere. Was he having a bad day? Maybe, but I felt like poo on his shoe. I'd been polite and patient. I don't write negative reviews for the whole web to see, but I don't want others to go through what I did and end up spending a lot of time and money for pain and teeth nearly worse than when I started. For the latter read on. After an exam with my lovely new dentist Dr. Minagawa I got the sickening news that new crowns from Dr. T. already need to be replaced due to a LOT of decay under them. A few months before this I'd been to Dr. T. to tell him I had lots of insurance $ left to fix any remaining dental problems. He told me there was no work needed!! I think Dr. T. done me wrong, and I don't doubt others have felt the same. He is capable of very good looking work, and he is fast. But nota bene my warnings about what may lurk under the work that looks so good....very nasty hidden decay may lurk there and you may not find out about it as quickly as I have. Sorry, Dr. T., but every word is true and heart-felt, and I hope it helps not only potential patients,but also you helps you see how your chair-side manner affects those of us who depend(ed) on you for courteous and competent care. Dr. Timmerman, my opinion that you care more about yourself than your patients has been proven by your rush to get your friends to quickly respond to try and negate my very valid concerns about the treatment I got. It made me very sad that you further proved my critique by responding to my comments with a snarky and untrue snipe about me just wanting pain medicine from you. You know that isn't true. You certainly aren't more convenient than my MS docs, who I see once a month. You once again as I say in my critique - do not bother to address the patient's concerns --the decay under my new crowns being the most disturbing and worthy of being pointed out in a review about you. No concern about that at all, I guess. Just quick action to get fake reviewers to help you out, and some mud slung at me to further protect yourself. You have shown that you deserve my 1 star review. Dr. Timmerman is GREAT!! His practice makes going to the dentist feel more like a mini day spa rather than another dreaded dental appointment. Dr. Timmerman is always very helpful and answers all of my questions. He makes sure his patients are as comfortable as possible by providing warm neck pillows, paraffin hand treatments, and fresh baked cookies! The cookies may be an alterior motive for repeat business, but I am not complaining! ; ) I first saw Dr. Timmerman several years back when I worked near his office, although I loved going there, I changed jobs and tried a Dentist closer to home, he was not the same AT ALL! I am happy to say I am back at Dr. Timmerman's despite the drive, and I will remain his patient for the life of his practice! I recommend him to all of my family and friends! read more

I think yelp needs to add a zero star rating. I would love to have used it in this case. Here's my story. I bought a living social voucher to get my teeth whitened at Lance Timmerman and have been trying to get an appointment to go in before it expires in a month. Mr. Timmerman's office have been extremely inflexible, letting me know that even if I schedule it before it expires I must come into the office to do the procedure before the expiry date of the voucher. I can understand scheduling before it expires but why do I have to come in before my voucher expires? The offices are only open from Mon - Thur and you are all the way out in Tukwila. I live in Seattle. The assistant even went on to let me know that they aren't making any money off living social customers ... so I guess I am a second class customer now just because I have a living social voucher. It really looks like I've lost the $130 I've paid to get my teeth whitened unless I can fake being sick for a day and risk being fired. All in all an EXTREMELY BAD EXPERIENCE and I haven't even stepped foot into the office just yet. Contrast this to an airline voucher I had a few years ago. When I couldn't get a flight booked in time, they extended my voucher by three months and tried as best they could to work around my schedule. I have flown that airline many times after that just because of that one experience. That's how you do business Mr Timmerman! All in all an EXTREMELY BAD EXPERIENCE and I haven't even stepped foot into the office just yet. I ended up with mercury poisoning severely ill , have had nothing but issues with the crowns and work that didn't need to be done but was pressured into getting . His billing is atrocious and inaccurate and guido type for procedures not done . I believe this office and staff have no conscious and literally troll older population for business . My review is regarding BOTOX only! Not on Dr. Timmerman's dental work. I have been having issues with clenching at night for years and it started to cause pressure and some headaches when I wake up over the past 6 months. When I heard that botox could be a helpful treatment to help ease clenching by freezing and weakening the masseter (jaw) muscles, I wanted to go to a REAL dentist who also does botox because I felt that they would have more expertise on clenching, bite issues and the jaw muscle itself. The office is upstairs in the "University of Phoenix" building near Fort Dent. There is a good sized parking lot which was close to full both times I visited. The office is clean and pleasant. It is definitely meant to be used as dental office only. The office receptionists were friendly and accommodating. Once I sat down they began discussing Donald Trump favorably while I waited for my appointment which was rather unnerving. Dr. Timmerman is very knowledgeable and seems to enjoy sharing what he knows about botox and bruxism. He has a book (featuring his practice) that he hands out to new clients. I will say he looks quite different than his picture on this site and in the book. He should update his photos. I think I was expecting to be treated more as a dental patient with a jaw issue who needed botox for a medical purpose rather then as a cosmetic procedure client. He did not examine my bite or the effects clenching has had on my teeth. But did explain dental procedures I could do along with the botox if needed. He up-sold me on a full syringe of botox because this would take several treatments and it would be cheaper to get more. He Injected my jaw right there in the dental chair. It was more painful than other botox treatments I've had but that might be because I've never had my jaw done before. The dental chair is visible to anyone talking to a receptionist at the front desk. I could hear another customer talking about 10 ft behind me the whole time. If I turned my head I could make eye contact. I would have preferred more privacy for this procedure. The days following.... I had swelling and bruising in my jaw that was noticeable to others, I have never had this happen to me before. When I returned for my second dose I was told that this is normal for this area which is completely possible. After my second masseter botox treatment I decided that I would just use the rest of the syringe in my forehead and not come back to this office for botox again. I will continue going to a dermatologist if I continue to get botox for my clenching in the future. There is nothing gained from getting a botox injection from a dentist. I prefer the atmosphere, technique, and specialization a Dermatology office has to offer. read more

It's rare to find a doctor or dentist that you truly believe in. I have been a long-time patient of Dr. Timmerman, and I have had other dentists examine my teeth and tell me what a great dentist I have. In fact, a professor from the UW school of dentistry offered to look at my teeth and rate my current dentists. Upon examination (which I thought would result in "He should have done X, and Y comments", resulted in him saying "Wow...You have a really good dentist". This just doubled my belief in Dr. Timmerman as being a top shelf dentist in the Seattle area. Recommended (by me) above all others. I also consulted with Dr. Timmerman about my sleep apnea. I had pretty bad sleep apnea with an AHI greater than 40. Dr. Timmerman consulted with my about a dental device that can help. His office staff helped me with the insurance and I was able to get the device, which lowered my AHI to near 0. It's awesome, I can wear it every night instead of the intrusive CPAP machine. Lastly, I've read some of the other negative reviews posted here, and I hope that if you read the negative ones, you keep in mind that they had specific problems with administrative problems (of which I've had very few), but the bigger and more important thing you should keep in mind is that you want a GREAT dentist, in the same way you want a GREAT doctor to keep you healthy. Administrative issues are a minor detail. IMHO. If you are reading these trying to determine which dentist you should use, you should use the BEST dentist, not the cheapest or most available one. When people become unhappy about service as noted in a previous review, they often don't take responsibilty for for their own actions or the level of cooperation that is needed for medical professional relationships. What I read appears to be a person who demands a lot and makes rules for the relationship which often are out of reach for the other person. The review does not discribe Dr Timmerman's services. Dr. Timmerman is careful about his service as I have seen for over 12 years. He has been a dentist who performs well. He does not overbook appointments. His staff is friendly and make you feel comfortable at each visit. He is highly trained for I am aware that he has taken advanced courses continually. In this way he is well prepared for those diffucult situations that appear from time to time. I have recommend Dr. Timmerman to friends and connections. In some cases they have travelled for many miles to his office and they said the trip was worth it. In my case, Dr. Timmerman has completed replacing crowns as needed and fillings that were critical to my health and comfort. My oral comfort is better than it has ever been. He has completed critical implants for my wife with great success. I would give him a five star rating which I am sure most of his other clients would agree. read more

Let me start by saying that I am a veteran to the dental chair. I was once told that my teeth had a "tough childhood" and I have spent my adult years trying to correct those issues. I have had military dentists, managed care dentists and private family dentists. I can honestly say that I have not had a better dentist in my life and this is the reason I'm writing this review. I initially contacted Dr. Timmerman to correct a cosmetic issue with my two front teeth. I was unhappy with their appearance due to a large amount of cosmetic bonding attached to them. They looked like chicklets only worse because they were uneven and discolored. During my initial consultation, Dr. Timmerman took his time to explain all my options. I was very comfortable with his knowledge and expertise. He showed me examples of his work and we decided that the six-month smile system would address the cosmetic issues I presented. Approximately six months later, my braces were off and my teeth looked great! I was astounded that such a change occurred in such a small amount of time. Dr. Timmerman is also wonderful with general dentistry. I have had several fillings and crowns replaced and I was completely comfortable throughout the process. The final product always looks natural and cosmetically pleasing. Lastly, If you are in pain or afraid of the dentist, Dr. Timmerman will do everything he can take make you comfortable and take care of the issue. Wonderful dentist and staff! I've had several treatments done with Dr. Timmerman. I started with a Zoom whitening treatment that turned out great. A few months later I decided to get adult 6-month-smiles braces to straighten out my smile. My treatment with braces took about 7 months and my teeth looked incredible, but since one of my front teeth is dead from a childhood root canal, it was a different color shade. We talked about my options and decided on veneers. Everything went great and I'm finally finished with everything. I am 100% satisfied and happy with all my visits and my progress. I have good teeth, but did need old fillings replaced and Dr. Timmerman did a fantastic job! Now my old silver colored fillings are gone and you can't even tell I have fillings. I was recently visiting family in Washington state and broke a tooth at dinner. This is pretty embarassing, especially for a dentist! I know a lot of dentists around the country from various continuing education courses and when I searched online for a dentist, I recognized Dr. Timmerman as a smart guy that I had studied with at several courses. We don't know other well, but he went out of his way to make sure that I was taken care of right away. I'm sure this must have been inconvenient for him but he never complained and he was even funny! His treatment was first rate, by the way. I wish I could have worked on my own mouth but since I couldn't, I was glad Dr. Timmerman was available. It was an AWESOME experience, well, as awesome as getting stuck with a needle in your forehead could be. The staff was very kind and professional. Dr. Timmerman was very pleasant as well. Answered all my questions and put me at ease immediately. They got me in right at my scheduled appointment time. I was seen quickly (but not rushed). Not happy with the work. Yes he is quick, but I would rather not be jabbed, poked and pushed around with multiple devices in my mouth while have my teeth worked on. I felt more like a number and not a patient. I like the kind and more gentle approach. I am not sure if this was the work of the dentist or the assistant, but after having my tooth fixed they put on a temporary crown, for a week afterwards I was in excruciating pain. I called them to see if they could fix it. They did something which made it feel better...later that night I was in pain again. So I decided to go out of my way and reach out to a different dentist. As they were pulling off the temporary crown they noticed that there was a rather large sharp edge that was jabbed into my gum line which was causing most of the pain. I am glad that the new dentist was able to fix my tooth the right way and I was also able to go home the same day with a permanent crown. One good thing about this dentist he did reverse the charge to my visa card but unfortunately he did not reverse the charge to the insurance company for $500+ read more

I don't know what I did to be treated so horribly by Dr. Timmerman and his staff, and even now I have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when I think about it. I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Timmerman because on his website is a video of him saying very clearly that he is patient focused, that he always asks what the patient wants, and he doesn't try to push anything on a patient. When I called to make my appointment, I informed the receptionist upfront that I only wanted an exam and cleaning, but I did not want to have x-rays done. She said that was fine, and I even accommodated their office by providing my most recent x-rays by email. I came 15 minutes early for my appointment, filled out all the necessary paperwork, but only after I had already been there 30 minutes were my x-rays uploaded into whatever system necessary for viewing. Then I was informed in a rather aggressive way by a dental assistant that I would have to have new x-rays done. When I said that I did not want them, I was then interrogated as to why. I politely responded that it was simply my personal choice not to have them done. The dental assistant spoke to me in the most condescending and haughty way. She went back and forth between me and where Dr. Timmerman was in the back to relay messages, and ended up informing me that I would not be seen by the doctor. I was shocked and disgusted that this is how they would treat a patient. If I were pregnant, I doubt they would have insisted that I have new x-rays done or denied me dental care, so clearly it WAS possible for their office to perform an exam and cleaning without x-rays. For the record, in that same video on his website, Dr. Timmerman says that they don't make patients wait for their appointments and they respect their patients' time. The day of my appointment, I wasted an hour of my time just to be refused my appointment. But worst of all, they spoke to me so rudely and treated me so disrespectfully. I simply have never been treated so horribly by anyone in my life, much less by a healthcare practitioner. It still baffles and sickens me. read more

I recently moved to this area (been here a year now) and have gone to three different dentists trying to find the right one. Dr Timmerman seemed nice and explained everything. I have a lot of issues with my teeth and needed someone who could get me in and who also does most procedures himself. Well, my first appointment (root canal and crown) went really well. However, i had a tooth break last weekend and knew i needed a crown, so i called and scheduled an appointment. I was given a quote over the phone. They said my insurance would be all used up and that my fee would be .... ok, so i go in and the first thing they want to do is take a full mouth xray, already have had one of those, oh can't find it in the computer for some reason. I said no, can't afford it and i have already had one, actually three over the last year. Then they fix my tooth and i get my temporary crown... all done in an hour, great. But when i go to pay, it's $100 more than what i was quoted... oh, can't find my estimate in the computer either, that's convenient. Now i have no proof of what i was quoted. ugh. My take: Dr Timmerman is nice but pretty rough when he's working on your teeth, they want to take extra xrays that i don't need, and always charge me more than what i'm quoted. read more
