Long story coming. Bear with me, I rarely complain publicly…read more So today, I took my car (with a baby and an 11 year old) to get inspected. Anyway, I went to Valvoline off of Main Street. After waiting for about 20 minutes, it was my turn. There were two inspectors who were working together. One took a quick walk around my car and informed me that it would not pass inspection. I asked why. He said that 1) my back windshield wiper was damaged and needed to be replaced. I asked if they could do that for me and he said yes. Perfect. He was going to make a product/service sale. No problem. 2) My windshield brow tint was too low. He proceeded to pull out a tape measure and measured the outside of the windshield to show me. It was 7 inches long. Apparently it can only be 5 inches. I asked him if I should take my car to the dealership to get it fixed since they were the ones that installed the tint. He said, "People sell illegal tint all the time. But you won't pass inspection with this. It's too long." It wasn't illegal. And I've had it for nearly 4 years. Now, I don't know much about cars. I'll be the first to admit it. So on my way home, I called my husband and told him about it. He told me that he's taken my car to Valvoline for the past 3 years and it's passed inspection every time. When I got home, I went to the department of motor vehicles website and looked up inspection specifications for the brow tint. I may not know things, but I can google them. According to the website, you measure the brow tint from the inside of the vehicle. Not the outside. When measured from the inside, it's less that 5 inches. When he got home, my husband took my car to another shop in town. They agreed it was perfectly within inspection guidelines and they passed my car. I'm livid. I feel like my time was wasted and it was taken advantage of that I didn't know anything about cars. Because I would HATE to think that they don't know inspection guidelines at Valvoline. And if they don't, I definitely wouldn't trust them to do anything under the hood of my car. From here on out, we will be taking our vehicles anywhere else.

No complaints there -- the car looked great. But the interior is where things keep falling short. They clearly vacuum well, but wiping things down seems to get skipped every single time. Dash still dusty, windows still dirty, seats not wiped down...just overall disappointing. Last visit they even left the marker writing they put on the window still there after the wash, so I figured maybe it was just an off day. Nope. The wait time is also super long, which makes you think there'd be some sort of quality check before handing the car back over, but unfortunately that hasn't been the case. For the price, the value lately has just been kinda meh.

They had to drive an hour to pick them up and I agreed. It took much longer and then after they arrived it was 30 more minutes. Then someone tells me it's the wrong spark plugs and if I wanted to wait for them to get the correct ones. I said No, and was waiting 45 more minutes to have my old ones put in. Now it's 11:30am. My car finally pulled up and I really needed to go, but had to wait a couple of minutes to get checked out. Finally, I am checked out and I leave and they didn't put my air cabin filter back on. I drove back and my car starts smoking. They said that it was smoke from the oil they didn't clean up. When the manager came by he said they didn't even put any antifreeze that I had paid for. I have been here before and they didn't put my oil cap on correctly and my car started leaking oil. I have been avoiding this place for years but decided to give them another chance, big mistake. I am wondering if my spark plugs were even put back correctly. I never write a bad review, but this case I'm doing it for people's safety and for them not to lose money.

These guys do it all and then some…read more More than just oil changes and state inspections They can do almost everything you need done on a car They do a thorough inspection of all parts and inform the owner what they feel needs doing but they *WON'T* do any work ever without the permission of the owner - also they will take the owner out into the bay to explain exactly what they are intending to do. The owners Casey and Graham are two of the most friendly, knowledgeable automotive service workers I have ever done business with, and I have done business with them for about four years. Relatives from NW Houston drive up to their shop because of the honest and excellent work.
