I had it towed to Metro Metric based on a friend's recommendation and prayed it was a good choice, and they really came through. I dropped the car off at 2:00 pm and Ron told me he probably wouldn't be able to get to it until the next day, which I said was totally fine. To my surprise, they called me to say everything was fixed and done at 8:30 the next morning. They even stayed late to finish the repairs! Their prices are also the best I've found anywhere. I went to another place first that quoted me $1700 (before tax because this was in Washington). Metro Metric only charged me $797, which was actually less than they quoted me for when I dropped it off and told them what the other mechanic said was wrong. Where else can you find a second opinion that charges you $900 less than the first guys? I will definitely be coming back here for any future car troubles! Probably even oil changes from time to time.

You may have to wait several days or weeks for your appointment, but it's worth the wait. Metro Metric will diagnose the problem with ease, and the repair price will be very reasonable. In some cases, they'll tell you that you don't even need to fix the problem at all. My husband and I have been using Metro Metric for several years, and they've been able to solve a bunch of issues on our Honda Element and Scion XB: starter issues, coolant issues, various error codes, etc. We also use Metro Metric for oil changes and routine maintenance. We can't imagine going anywhere else.

It is absolutely the best shop to go to in Portland. I took my Subaru there with a problem with the cam sensor. They got it all figured out the place I took it to in Portland, which will rename nameless insisted that it was a $3000 job and what I was asking to do was just remap the ECM at the dealer near Burnside I'll say told me that that was impossible that my ECM had the burned in memory that could not be erased from the trouble light being on. I insisted to do what Gary's automotive Portland auto clinic had told me to have done instead of the $3000 work that that dealer told me that I was gonna have to pay but thanks to Portland auto clinic otherwise known as Gary's automotive they saved me $3000 actually they saved me $2803 cause I had to pay their $200 for the ECM remap I'm gonna take my Subaru there for the rest of its life savings of $2803 is just enough to never go anywhere else. Can you believe that they saved me? They were honest they were quick with the return, they were very knowledgeable more knowledgeable than the dealership of Subaru. I would've been ripped off if I hadn't of gone to Gary's automotive otherwise known as Portland auto clinic before I took it to the dealership. They had to have some other specialists work on a part of the engine, and it was all coordinated seamlessly. Lots of updates by Abby to the diagnostics, and she always asked, as all shops should, and discussed the issue before doing any work. It's driving better than it has in a long while. They did all the major maintenance. Also! They caught that other places put in the wrong coolant and 2 wheels were short lugnuts. So now I'm objectively safer (a shop looked at my tires in the last few months. Loose lugnuts should have been caught.) Also also. They have a few loaner cars, which saved me about $4-500 in a rental. I'm bringing my car back for it's 6mo and 12 mo maintenance. Really can't express how good an experience it was. Worth it.
