My husband brought our mower to the Norfolk Land and Coates after replacing several original parts with new aftermarket ones. We paid a $70 bench fee for a diagnosis and expected an honest evaluation. When my husband picked it up, he immediately noticed that the new aftermarket parts he had installed were replaced with old, dirty Toro parts including the ignition switch he'd just replaced. Staff offered no explanation, only shrugging and saying "I don't know." A note on the invoice reading "Rusty unit, going to get $$" was especially concerning. After multiple follow-ups, including a call from Todd offering two replacement parts "as a good faith gesture," we were still denied a refund for the bench fee. The gesture itself confirms that something wasn't right, yet no one took accountability. This is about more than parts it's about honesty and integrity. You know me for my positive reviews and honesty. Well... my garage kept lawnmower came back with some extras. Today is May 11th, they had my lawnmower since March 10th. It was in for some normal repairs (battery, tire, and spark plugs) not anything that would require keeping it for long like a rare belt or engine overhaul. I went to Tractor Supply and found the tires and battery on the shelf. Spark plugs could be ordered in a day. I thought "No, these are our people, I will give them some time." I purchased all our lawn equipment from them. Faithful to keeping our lawn stuff running and out of the elements. Always came here for large purchases, extras, Stihl products, and was looking to upgrade our 360 mower. I enjoy mowing the lawn. I am the kind of person who posts pictures of my yard. I knew exactly what marks were on my lawn mower when it left the house. There were the usual scratches along the bottom from getting too close to the landscape pavers, but that was it. I missed my lawnmower and decided to go see how she was doing. We came by one day to see if it was still there and watched as they picked it up with a fork lift, hit the fencing, and the wall with our lawnmower. A guy showed up this morning, dropped her off and left without knocking on the door. The rod for holding our leaf bags was bent over (wall vs lawnmower). The new rubber clamp piece was snapped in half on the back. There are scrape marks through the plastic on both sides. The handle rubber is cut open. This land and coats SUCKKKK they had my lawn mower since august 18th it is now September 24 I was told it should be done in 3-10 business days that's ridiculous I kept calling and the worker Dustin just giving me the same answer " we're still waiting on parts " everytime I call I get no update till one day I said is there anyone else I can talk to and I got sent over to the parts and they finally tell me my parts are on back order and "they'll get here when they get here " that's lovely to hear isn't it so yea I'll just take my lawn mower to a different land and coats read more

Nothing in this world burns me up more then a shady repair shop doing shady work and then not stand by their work. This is my for the most part new saw I purchased it new back in 2013 from land and coats on bonny road well back In December the pull start would not retract so had it to land and coats for a recoil repair and as you can see someone did not put it back together right. Now they will not stand by their work they want more then what a new saw would cost to fix it. Everyone that know me know I can fix anything myself but this was a where i did not have time to fix it. This was the first time this saw had need to have anything fixed on it. So with that's been said buys beware. This saw need a new coil flywheel and recoil assembly. And yet they want like 500 bucks to fix it with they should be fixing it for free cause they are the one that cause it to start with read more

Was willing to buy the best, was talked into buying a DEAL. Now Four seasons later I am left with a mower that has major engine problems. No need to buy products from this "Specialty" store since there is nothing "Special" about the service. I have bought from Sears using Briggs And Stratton Engines and never had any engine trouble and ran them for 15 years. I was asked to do a tune up by Land and Coates for PM, I did it this season and now that too was money thrown away. I also have my suspicions as to that being part of my current engine issue. My Kohler Toro was leaking oil, I immediately brought it in for service, they have kept my mower for almost a week and want $250 in repairs...really who would do that? (Maybe instead they should offer me $250 toward another mower.) Mowers should be expected to be able to handle cutting grass once a week, certainly longer than five years. Today though I have a mower, 5 months out of warranty, and Land and Coates is doing nothing to stand by the item they sold me, fully aware that there has been no abuse done to the equipment. read more

I have made a few purchases at this location and all have went smoothly. I went by there at the beginning of the week to purchase a small Honda generator. The place was a mad house, the local news had hyped the hurricane so much that everyone and their grandmother was there. I mean it. There was literally a grandmother there with her O2 and all. Anyway I walk out with Honda, not the one I wanted but bc of demand it was what would work... Or so I thought. I happened to try it out today and though it started up fine. I could not get any voltage out of it. I called they said bring it by and thats what I did. I mentioned to the service tech that I really wanted the residential Honda one and that because of this issue I wanted to see if they would do a swap out. Clearly they do not do this kind of stuff as they have no returns on chainsaws and generators displayed in many locations. But I was like what the hey, I spoke to Mark and he immediately said why of course I will let you swap this out. Needless to say I walked away very happy and 107 buck more richer as he even refunded me the difference. I cannot say how happy this has made me. It felt good to have such great customer service. Looking for a dumb place to buy outdoor power equipment? Then look no further. This has to be, in my opinion, the dumbest place ever if one is considering a large purchase for home or commercial use. Take for instance the LARGEST purchase you're likely to make there: a zero-turn riding mower. EVERY single one of their "new" riding mowers has some sort of ding, or scratch; many scratches actually that they will try to cover up with spray paint. Does this affect performance? Probably not. But if you're paying premium dollar don't you want the place you're handing over your hard earned money over to to deliver a quality product in every respect? I know I do. Why, you ask, are these expensive machines so banged up? They are in such bad cosmetic shape because EVERY SINGLE DAY, twice a day, they are driven in and out of the place, again dumb. Sales selection is top notch, prices are good, people are very friendly. Once you buy something, though, good luck getting it serviced. Service dept is understaffed, backlogged. I took my Toro riding mower (which I bought from them) in for repair, they said 2 weeks. I called on Friday after two weeks, they said Mon or Tues. I called on Weds, they said Thurs. I called on Friday, they said "We just got the estimate done 5 minutes ago, we should be able to get it completed by the end of next week." A month to fix a mower!! We brought in a gas trimmer to be evaluated asking all pertinent questions such as how much to check it out, repairt, etc. told $35 to check it out...$75 per hour to fix it, and the $35 would be included in price of repair. Couple days later were told it would take over $170 to fix. Said no thanks, would give it back to person who gave it to us. Were told it would cost an additional $30 some dollars to re assemble....a simple gas trimmer!!! Talked to manager and he said it was common practice he approved of this transaction. Bought my Briggs & Stratton mower from them, never had a problem till I had it serviced there the first fall and it's been down hill ever since. Have had multiple time where the mower was sputtering and took it back, each time they stated it was the fuel and then adjusted something near the throttle (??) It would run fine for a while and then right back to the same problem. Brought it back for service and the winter lay-up maintenance and guess what, it is still doing the same exact thing that I brought it in for. My landscaper has told me he no longer wants to go there and I have now gotten the hint. I hope you get the hint as well. Nice place to buy from, terrible place for service. :( read more
