Brought my 2020 RR Sport in for check engine light.. My service advisor was Lee Brownstein. Lee was super professional and friendly. Great communication throughout. They fixed the needed areas and the car came back home the next day. A few days later, the check engine light went back on. Lee quickly found a service car and took my car back right away. They ran diagnostics with no luck on what was wrong. He asked if they could keep the car for a few more days to see if they could locate the problem. They kept me updated with phone calls and text messages as they ended up keeping the car for another 5 days. Turns out there was a mouse that chewed through some venting and built a home under the wheel well. I'm thankful Lee stuck with it and was committed to finding the cause of the problem. I recently moved to the area and I needed to check my Land Rover for a sound that did not have before. They told me they needed 2-3 days to check the origin of the noise. After 2 days I received an estimate for over $5,000 with their "service suggestions" but nothing about the noise. When I called I was informed that they could not find the source of the noise but the SUV needed to be serviced. When I questioned the estimate, I was told that there was a mistake. Subsequently, they sent me three other estimates some higher, some a bit lower but in the end, all had mistakes that the service agent blamed on the parts manager. So, the source of the noise was never detected but they wanted more than $5,000 for service suggestions that I am not sure were needed because they did not have records of my SUV (I moved from out of town) they decided to "service everything to be on the safe side". I decided to take my car to another Land Rover dealer, who took care of the noise and provided some needed service for less than $2,000. Needless to say that I would never go back to Lake Bluff Land Rover, they are a bunch of clowns (the service person, in particular). read more

Service is horrible! Took Range Rover in for a standard service and car overheated before my wife got home. First response from service after speaking to them was, well we can't be sure whose fault it was until we get it in and take a look even though it was fine before the service. After getting the car towed back to the dealer the service team confirmed they forgot to tighten the cooling fluid cap. Of course this was Friday so couldn't get the car back until Monday. Got car back on Monday and there is a new red marker mark on the fabric that wasn't there before. read more

Car buying experience should be a pleasant and smooth one from the moment you walk in the dealership till the time you drive off the lot. A way to know how your experience is gonna be is the first time you walk into the showroom. If you dont get any acknowledgment, your concerns wont be considered for any reason and you wont get what you want. We walked in here Saturday afternoon (made a special trip) and the one tall sales-man told us he was with a customer and that he would send another one over to help us. We waited 20 minutes until another sales-man told us that he was too busy as well and introduced us to Eric who could help us. When we told Eric what we were looking for, (a quick test drive) he said that they were closing in 30 minutes and could not help us. Are you kidding me? We have a crazy busy schedule during the week and its not that easy to stop in anytime on the weekend. If someone acknowledged us when we got there it wouldve saved us some time. If they really wanted our business they wouldve at least offered to have a quick test drive and we could've come back later to do a deal. Very Bad customer service! We were a little irritated by the way they treated us and headed over to Northfield Range Rover instead. Northfield people were much much nicer and pleasant to deal with therefore, we're taking our business there. Their sales-man worked hard to help us find what we were looking for unlike the lazy old stiff dudes at lake bluff. We've had a lot of trouble with Knauz before with Mercedes as well and have completely sworn them off now for good. Maybe upper management needs to step up their game on this unless they dont care for customers or their business. And guess what there are tons of dealerships all around so people can go anywhere they want so no need for arrogant attitude. Go to Northfield and you'll have a much better experience. read more

Best Land Rover dealership I have been to- including OrlandPark to actually purchase my 2019 Range Rover Supercharge and a dealer in NB/NF for prior maintenance. Every employee I encountered at the Lake Bluff location was friendly [without getting in your face], knowledgable and provided assistance willingly [a non-Service center employee sorted out changing my license plate holder; figured out a Service Parts tech issue, and got me on my way]. The entryway to the the service center is accessible to actually pull-in [they'll move the vehicles up if another customer stops at the entryway, unlike other experiences], and, they delivered my vehicle directly to me- literally four steps from the Check-Out desk to my SUV, rather than both dealerships previously referenced that make you wait inside their showroom, for someone to than bring your car in-front of their 'Sales' entryway- it feels like a marketing initiative. Also, in my experience with other dealers, if something is wrong- in addition to the frustration of dropping your car off for service- than having to trek through the showroom is annoying/seems disingenuous. Lake Bluff gave me a comparable sized vehicle [a Discovery 5] to my full-sized Range Rover; that may seem trivial, but going from a large SUV to a compact suv is hard for people needing to transport kids and their car seats. I had a great experience test driving a Discovery, Range Rover Velar, and Range Rover Sport with Joe Gaynor. I stopped in after it was established that my 2011 Mercedes-Benz had very serious mechanical issues. While I wandered around the showroom for quite a while without acknowledgment (more than 20 minutes), once a manager noticed that I hadn't been served, he quickly connected me with Joe. Joe was extremely patient and did not pressure me to do a deal on the spot. I am still doing my research, but I was very impressed with the Land Rover product offerings. It has taken us 1 week to make an appointment for an oil change (we are used to 1 day), and we brought in and they told us they may not get to it today. This is really poor customer service. The service department is awful. Lee first quoted me $1900 to fix one fuel injector, I thought it seemed excessive so I called northfield Land Rover told them the repair I needed and they told me $1070 along with Hoffman estates Land Rover. When I called Lee back he told me that he made a mistake, a $900 mistake?! Then he gave me a reasonable price but upon picking my car up he added a maxi fuse on to the bill saying the car wouldn't start but he never mentioned that in the 7 times I talked to him prior to picking the car up. The fuse has a cost of $4.00 they charge $167 for one hour of labor so I was being charged $171 to change something that takes an entire 2 minutes. I argued with them about it not because I didn't believe them but seeing as how they almost made a $900 "mistake" I would have called other dealers to see what it cost to change a fuse. They took the fuse off my bill and upon entering my car they had TAPED the fuse to the middle counsel control pad, could they be any more immature? Then about a mile down the road I notice a huge grease stain on the panel of the driver side door. Because the fuel injector went out at 40,000 miles lee did give me a number to call to see if Land Rover would help with any of the cost. At first they would not until I argued with the guy and he came to reasonable amount of 70 percent coverage from there end, leaving me to pay the balance of 30 percent. Upon picking up the car I was expecting to pay $326 (30%) but I actually paid less then that because the service manager basically said not in so many words that they charge more to the paying public then they charge the Land Rover warranty program. So although they were helpful in the sense that they gave me the number to try and get some of the cost covered, I never had a feeling of trust in them. Lee was very very nice but that's it just nice, when I brought the issue I had about the fuse he literally walked away. I will never bring my car back here again. read more

The service department here gets a whopping 5 stars. The sales department gets 1 star. Lee Brownstein is my service advisor. He truly values the fact that I come all the way from Evanston to see him. Land Rover Northfield is much closer to me, but I absolutely hate the service department there. Land Rover Hinsdale is my home dealership, but they are an hour away and don't take American Express. Lee is amazing. He takes the time to carefully explain all the work that needs to be done for my '13 Sport. He was more than patient with me. I visited the sales department back in 2012 and then once again on 09/10/2016. In 2012, the sales rep who tried to help me (I forgot his name) was trying to sell me a Rover which didn't have any of the specs I wanted. I really don't understand why he would try and sell me a cheaper vehicle. On 09/10, I talked with Erik Shatzer regarding the 2016's Rovers. It was their special sales event and I truly wasn't in the market, but if he had actually valued me as a customer, I would have been persuaded into getting a vehicle. Matt B (the product specialist) did a decent job answering my questions about the 2016 Sport. I sat down with Erik and told him about all the features I wanted in my new Sport. He kept saying oh it's impossible to get a Sport the way you want it, unless you order it directly from the factory. He looked at other inventory and saw that out-of-state dealerships had the vehicle I was interested in, but he didn't elaborate beyond that. Since the conversation was pretty much dead at that point, I stood up and thanked him for his time. He was reluctant to provide me his business card and didn't even offer to shake my hand. After this experience, I won't be returning to Knauz for sales, but I will be returning here for service. read more

"BEST CUSTOMER CARE WHILE BUYING A CAR" We first went to check out the certified pre-owned LR4s' they had in stock. This was the most pleasant way to shop for a car I have ever had. At no point did my wife and I feel like we were being attacked by the typical car salesman. They simply asked us which vehicles we were interested in and then sent us on a test drive with on the car tech specialist (once was with Romy and once with Salvo) . Thess are younger guys who pretty much know all about the details and gadgets of the vehicles. It was great to go on a test drive without the sales personnel, because I felt like I could be more honest with the representative and with my wife. Once we decided on the vehicle we sat with Chad Holland, who is the manager of the dealership. "Chad was the best", with no exaggeration. He helped us get to where we felt comfortable with terms and was not pushy at all. I want to note that we were there about a week before and when we left that first day, Chad simply said think about it and let us know... there was no trying to change our minds about leaving and there was no chasing us out of the store trying to get us to talk to another manager, like how it is at a lot of the other dealerships. Now is when the real action comes into play. We were buying the vehicle on the last day of the year and we were the last customer out of the facility. We hopped on the highway and "BOOM" the car feels a little funny and the dash starts signaling warnings and is telling us not to exceed 30 miles an hour and that there is a suspension fault. On top of it all, it was pouring rain all day and freezing out. This was a buyers nightmare. I pulled over to the side of the road (on the shoulder) got out and saw that one of the tire went flat and that the truck had lowered it's air suspension down. I didn't know what to do .... I called Chad and there was no answer (remember we were the last customers out). I left a message and proceeded to contemplate trying to change a tire on our new car or calling a tow truck??? And then less than five minutes later Chad called me back and was as surprised as me to what was going on. Chad asked where I was and said he would bring me a loaner and then wait / go with the tow truck to bring the vehicle back to the dealership to be corrected after the holiday (IT WAS NEW YEARS EVE). The next week Chad had the vehicle gone through by the service dept. and replaced the faulty tire and opposing tire as well, so they wear correctly. Once the vehicle was inspected and Chad felt comfortable he had the truck delivered to our house. Chad Holland, I am so thankful that you called me back and came out to the rescue. I had contacted about a vehicle for sale that I wanted and worked with Jack. I was told that I could trade my vehicle in and give cash down. Jack told me to fill out the credit app. I filled out the credit app and was approved for the loan. I was told I needed to change my drivers license and did that. I was told I would be able to pick it up the following week. Took off work and rescheduled all of my patients. While working out the details to the money transactions, they decided to sell it from beneath me. Continued to call me and workout the details to the finances and then said it was sold days prior while still speaking with me about the finances. I had even spoke with management Chad during this time and ALL neglected to tell me they sold the vehicle till all finance details were worked out. I also worked with Chad who is the manager of the dealership who continued this conversation and on Saturday stated he would call me back Monday. Never called, I called him to be told the vehicle was sold while working through the finances that I was already approved for. It was sold days before and chose to not be a professional and call to say that! Talk about terrible customer service! Unprofessional on all levels to make someone run their credit and talk with them while a vehicle was already sold! Then to not return calls. Treat customers with respect and use proper communication!! Interesting to see how they interact with different people. I would advise to stay clear from shady dealerships like this. Lou Lang is the best salesperson I have EVER experienced. He will take care of everything for you. I call Lou when we need service and he takes care of everything. They have off-road events that are free for Rangerover and Landrover owners (free) and Holiday parties (free). Amazing dealership. I have never experienced such great service. He helped set up all of the unique and fantastic features on this beautiful vehicle. His attitude and expertise were certainly appreciated. I had visited Knauz a few times. Bought my brother a Hyundai at Knauz (great car buying experience) and almost bought myself a BMW at their BMW dealership. As a result of those dealings, I really grew to like Knauz. When I was looking to replace my car, I visited their Land Rover dealership. I didn't know a lot about the brand, but gave it a shot. I have to say, it was the best car buying experience ever. The sales team and General Manager are good people. Not once did I feel pressure, only excitement from them about their brand. I worked with Chris, Jack and Joe. Outstanding people who let me take my time and ask questions to help me learn about their vehicles. I sensed that they all love their brand and were there to simply help me to understand what their vehicles can do and what they have to offer. I never felt a strong sales approach as I always have at most other dealerships. I can say with certainty, this is the best group of people you will want to work with when looking for a new car. I test drove a few cars and eventually found that I really liked what the LR2 offered. Negotiations were very fair and I walked away feeling very good about my purchase. I've bought several cars, and without doubt, this group of people are the best I have seen in any dealership. Great team. And more importantly, great vehicle. I would highly recommend both the Knauz Land Rover team for a very pleasant car buying experience, and also the Land Rover LR2. I bought a Range Rover Velar about 8 months ago from here. After 1 month, the touch screens went out. It had to go in for 3 weeks while they waited for a new board from overseas. Brought car back to me without maps, Sirius re-downloaded - new board, common sense that stuff has to be re-loaded. Had to go back. After 2 months, same thing except this time they could do a plug in so it was there 2 days. 3 months later- same thing, in again. I've filled out all the surveys on my dissatisfaction with the car technology as well as Lee's unprofessional, combative nature. Not one single call from a GM or Manager. As I write this the board is currently frozen/broken again. I'm ready to involve legal - lemon law. The idea of having to face Lee again is dreadful. Last time he had the nerve to tell me how wonderful the car is and how people love them except the boards.. he has ZERO intelligence and no patience in dealing with upset customers who have a right to be. I had a terrible experience attempting to purchase a vehicle from this dealership. I was looking at purchasing a new 2014 Range Rover Sport. The salesman Lou emailed me specs with the MSRP on a vehicle that was in transit. After some negotiations, we settled on a price. We exchanged a few emails to determine a good time for me to stop by the dealership with a deposit. I told Lou that I would be at the dealership the following morning with a $2000 deposit. He agreed, and I thought that we had an agreement. A few minutes later I receive an email from Lou saying that he couldn't sell me the car for the agreed upon price because he had overlooked an option package that was on the vehicle. Now Lou is an experienced salesperson. What experienced sales person begins negotiations on a vehicle without knowing the full price. I asked for the manager. She would not sell me the car at the previously agreed upon price. She offered to take 1000 off the price but would not sell the car to me for the agreed upon price. This was a bait and switch tactic. They refused to sell me a vehicle at the agreed upon price. I was a very good customer of Knauz. I serviced vehicles there regularly, and I planned on buying two vehicles this year from their dealership group. I'm pretty sure that I will seek out other dealerships that take care of their customers, and not take them for granted. If they treat their regular customers this way, imagine how they treat treat new ones? read more

Two weeks ago I purchased a new LR4 from Knauz. Since it was to be my wife's car primarily, she did the search and due diligence on the vehicle with Chris Johnson as her salesperson. In an effort to be brief, Chris told her a half-truth (which Chris admitted to later) re: the car's towing capability. He took no responsibility for being less than honest, in fact he tried to play a semantics game with me post-transaction. I then spoke to Joe Cotteleer (Sales Manager) and this is when things got down right strange. When I told Joe about my issue and experience, instead of being gracious (about my patronizing his business) and empathetic (about my problem), or making even a modest effort to work through my problem with me, he was beyond curt and rude, telling me that - if I signed the contract - then his salesperson had done his job (the gist was that I should just go away). He is quite honestly the worst ambassador for a business that I've ever encountered and has, at the very least, cost the dealership any future biz from my family I've never written a review before but I was so taken aback by the dealership's attitude that I felt compelled. I'm also flabbergasted that a business would shut themselves off from future business - we're in our 40s with three kids approaching driving age - not to mention that the first story I tell these days to anyone and everyone is my experience at Knauz. Inevitably, problems and mistakes happen within every business (I get it) - it's how those problems are handled that reflect the integrity of the business and build good will with its customer base (Business 101). We've also bought a Range Rover in the past from Land Rover Winnetka - we've had nothing but good experiences there. If you have a choice, go there.
