When speaking to a service rep, the service rep cut me off while explaining a necessity for a loaner vehicle. I expressed, I didn't mind being placed on a waitlist, but needed to ensure there was no penalty if I couldn't keep the appointment last minute if loaners weren't available. As someone who works overnights, I will always be flexible with hours and as a former Subaru employee, I understand if things cannot be promised. Issue comes when trying to explain something and you either get cut off or dismissed...that's beyond frustrating. I chose to rate a 3 because one bad experience doesn't necessitate a terrible review. I have been a customer for 10 years. I recently brought my car in for service. Along with routine service, I asked them to look at the air conditioner which was blowing hot air. I was quoted $1600 to replace the compressor. I asked them to do the other work I requested but deferred on that repair. I was charged a $210 diagnostic fee (which was not disclosed when I signed the car in) - I refused but they would not release the car until I paid this fee. On top of that, afterward I took the car to an outside mechanic and discovered that the problem was actually a fluid leak which was repaired for under $100!!! Within the hour I got a call from the service manager Javed wanting to discuss. Unfortunately, he was not at the shop when the problem arose to help find a solution. The car itself is wonderful, but the caring customer service I received from Bobby exceeded all expectations. This was the best sales experience I've had- He searched the Chicagoland area to find the color car I preferred. Everything was explained to me- all the new technology could have been overwhelming, but Bobby took me through all of it with enormous patience. He called the next day and answered a few more questions that arose and even went to the trouble of making a video to some of the multi-step paths to turn on/off an accessory. Just bought my second Subaru from Muller Subaru. Marcus Bennett was our salesman both times and did a nice job. The sales experience was pretty simple and painless and we relatively quickly reached an agreeable price. We were a cash deal and it took less than an hour from start to finish so that was impressive. Unlike 4 years ago - and better - is that the mandatory sales pitch for the extended warranties went relatively quickly. Last time there was more of a hard sell while this time Muller just accepted right away that I was not interested. I also take my Subarus to Muller for service. The service department has been very good to date. Kevin Ferraresi is my usual service advisor. I don't like giving 5 star reviews. I think a business has to go exceedingly out of their way for me to give a 5 star review. I believe a 4 star review is a positive thing. (stupid grade inflation) I actually started out with a 4 star for Muller but after writing this changed to 5 star because in the end they were between a 4 and a 5. More like a 4.6 so I bumped it up to a 5 star review. I wouldn't have felt right with a 4 star in Muller's case. Lastly, the only reason I ended up going to Muller was because of a bad sales experience at Berman, I gave Berman a not-so-good Yelp review which eventually was removed by Yelp (boo) I assume because Berman didn't like that I included a sarcastic image. It's a lot farther for mw to go to Muller than Berman but in the long run I'm happy with my decision. read more

Sadly, their service department appears to be just like every other shady service department. After a rock jumped up into our windshield, We called and spoke with a rep, who forwarded us to parts and service because she "didn't know the price". Service department quoted us. We decided to go with them! Called back and spoke with the same rep, who now told us the price was 30% higher than the quote we received this morning. The same rep, who didn't know the price the first time, now knew to charge us a higher price. That's curious, but, okay. When we told this rep we were quoted a different price, she stated they would not honor that quote. Friends- I'm in sales- and if I quote a price, even if I was wrong, I honor it. I took it to Carx to run a full diagnostics on it. And it showed the spark plug wires was cut and the other wasn't connected. So I call to the dealership and was treated with total disrespect was told that it was my problem not theirs. And was told I would have to pay. Stay VERY far away. Was looking for a 2020 Forester. The internet manager here, Tony Vassa, outright lies to you. He tried to convince me that I would save on taxes buying the car in Highland Park (lake county vs cook county). Problem is in Illinois you pay taxes based on where you register the vehicle, NOT on where you buy it. The reason I know this is because I use to sell cars in DuPage county and had to charge people that came out from Chicago Cook County taxes. I also double checked this with other dealerships. So avoid their outright lies. Even if my car broke down right across the street I would have it towed to another place just to avoid And to answer Harry K's challenge. We went here after finding a used vehicle that completely matched our needs. The experience was pleasant, until we went to pay. They would not accept a cashier's check, because we are in Wisconsin. Okay, we weren't pleased but we wanted this car. They wanted us to wire the money. That was going to cost anywhere from $25 to $75 dollars, according to our bank. We opted to give them a check, and just wait until it cleared. This was on a Thursday. They promised they would deposit the check the next day. They didn't deposit it until MONDAY. I'm at the moment still waiting for the check to clear, and have to return the rental car we have. This was all an insurance issue. And what do I get from them? Nothing. Not even an offer to pay for our rental for an additional day. Won't be going back to them. Edit: This is the response I received. And I want to address it. "Karen, First of all, thank you for your business. When you contacted us to place a deposit over the phone, we did explain that we can not release the vehicle right away if your down payment is a check from out of state and that is the reason why we asked you to wire us the funds if you wish to take the delivery right away. It is our company policy and this policy is to protect our business. We apologize if our policy has inconvenienced you in any way. I just authorized my manager to release the vehicle to you on Thurs which is a week from the date you dropped off your check. Please reach out to us for any further questions." First, I did not contact you to place a deposit. My salesman suggested it. And I absolutely understand why you wouldn't take a regular, personal, check. But you wouldn't take a CASHIER'S CHECK. It's the same as cash. It cannot be cancelled without bringing it back to the bank that initiated it. So don't act like the aggrieved party here. Muller's suggestion was that I do a "wire transfer". The cost for that was more than I was willing to pay, thus we wrote a personal check on a Thursday night, being assured that it would be deposited "first thing in the morning". It wasn't. It wasn't deposited until days later, thus holding up the process. And as far as authorizing the release of the vehicle, well that's just lip service, isn't it? The check cleared today - Wednesday. And Thursday was 7 days later - the time frame I had already been given, so don't act like you're doing me a favor. The very fact that you all won't admit you're in the wrong is reason enough to not do future business with you, and for me to advise others not to as well. read more

BUYER BEWARE!- This review is for the auto services provided at this location. My husband has been going here for his CrossTrek services for the last 8 years. We have assumed the services suggested to be fair and accepted them with no question asked. Over a week ago, the service mechanic let my husband know that one of his tires (less than 4 years old) needed to be replaced ASAP during routine air pressure check. He stated that the bead of the tire was damaged and not fit for driving. He quoted price of $130+ and asked if he had warranty. My husband decided to take it back to Sam's where he had got the new tires. Turns out that the bead had a slit on it which could have happened only if someone improperly tried to remove the tire while mounting or dismounting. In short, Subaru mechanic damaged the tire while doing the routine check and covered it saying we needed new tire. This blatant lie shocked us as we have spent thousands getting our car serviced here. We wonder how many times we may have been deceived. We got a call back from a rep who offered to replace the tire for free AFTER we had purchased the tire and got it replaced at Sam's. No offer whatsoever to cover our costs. Came here to get my passenger airbag replaced due to recall. Overall an ok experience. It was a bit of a hassle to get the vehicle in for a recall part replacement. Over the phone we were given mixed messages about when the part would be in, so eventually went in person to order the part after we've been told it was ordered twice and then told that it had not been ordered. In person they're very nice and they even offered suggestions for things that should be checked for an upcoming trip. There was no pressure selling here, and they said that if we couldn't get in elsewhere we could bring the vehicle to them even under short notice. Nice waiting room.
