Never purchase a CPO here. We bought a MB CPO vehicle in April. We immediately had to bring it back because the hatch wouldn't open, the kick sensor didn't work, and the gas door was broken. CPO Checklist Items that have been repaired/replaced: Rocker Switch for Dynamic Selector Wheel Alignment Tire wear (Dealer stated all at 6/32) Visited a tire shop that laser-measured them as 6/32 in front, 5/32 and 4/32 in rear. Wipers Gas door Trunk-tailgate hinges Rear hatch alignment Tailgate closing assist Hatch motor Trunk release Ask for the full CPO checklist and then verify, because Knauz had my car for nearly 60 of the last 90 days all to complete items that "passed" on the checklist but in reality, they didn't complete them until I purchased the car so they could have MB USA pay for everything under CPO. read more

I purchased a used Mercedes Benz S class from Knauz. During the time of purchase I inquired about A and B service. The Sales Associate inform me that I have an A and B service package available for use. Six months later I used the A service they offered. Now it's time for me to get service B. I called the service department and they said they don't see B service available for me. The service department suggested I contact the Sales Associate and receive clarification. The Sales associate stated, "We gave you B service prior to you purchasing the car!" I stated, that wasn't communicated to me, what was communicated I have available A and B service. So I requested to speak to the manager. The manger stated the same, the B service was already provided and included when you bought the car. "If you don't have it in writing," "I can't do anything for you." "Would you like to buy the service package?" I politely got off the phone with major disappointment. Recognizing Knauz service after purchase is unethical. I would recommend purchasing a vehicle from another Mercedes Benz Dealership. We recently acquired a used Mercedes and decided to have our local dealer give it a once-over and recommendations for long-term reliability. We took their advice and asked them to perform all recommended updates to the tune of nearly $10 grand over two visits. 300 miles after everything was done, the car failed us (broken belt that they had just replaced) and left us stranded in Milwaukee, requiring a 60+ mile tow and $140 Uber ride home. We had the vehicle towed to Knauz and they denied any responsibility and charged us an extra $1,100 to fix what they missed the first time. For prescheduled B service on a 2015 Mercedes GLK 350 4matic in great condition with about 80k miles: -They somehow took two extra days to get essentially an oil change and inspection done (even despite me dropping it off a day early). -They chose to email and texted me the inspection report instead of calling me and it took about 5 calls to finally get someone on the phone to discuss. -The quote showed more than 10k in various supposed "very important" repairs (on a car blue-booked at ~16k) -They somehow failed to address the malfunctioning windshield washer which was the main reason I brought it in. -They then refused to set me up with a loaner vehicle when I decided against some of the recommended repairs. -Throughout the prolonged ordeal received less than desirable customer service and the service associate was generally dismissive. I ended up doing none of the recommended repairs beyond the oil change. I then brought it to an independent Mercedes mechanic for the windshield washer repair which took about 2 hrs in total. They also did a courtesy inspection and said "it looked great" and "will probably run forever". My next service, the A service is actually free through Knauz but I don't think I am gonna bring it back there :/ read more

Beware of this company. I dropped off my Mercedes sprinter van and after agreeing to just under $6000 of repairs when I picked it up, they charge me over $9000 and added a bunch of repairs. I never agreed to and never intended on doing. After much back-and-forth, they said they would offer me free detailing, on my 2011 work van ha, and $1100 in future work. After asking for just some of my money back in the form of check, they gave me the runaround for over a month. I talked to a service manager and his boss and they never reach back out to me and I'm done hounding them so just avoid this place at all cost or if you do go make sure you have copies of everything and writing before your service. I took my vehicle in for a very routine warranty issue, that was handled no problem! the problems started when I came to pick the vehicle up. upon pick up, the windshield was cracked severely, which was handled by Knauz no charge, but took 9 days to get done. at which time, I had to call to be given any sort of update on my Mercedes. I was told Wednesday initially, then when I called Thursday I was told Friday. it wasn't until I called Monday morning that I finally was able to pick up my vehicle. after leaving the dealership, I immediately noticed rattles behind the dashboard that I never had before bringing it in. Taking it upon myself to look, I opened the hood to find a bunch if very concerning issues... 1. only one of the guards had the twist locks in... 2. the intake line was disconnected 3. the hood liner was loose by the washer fluid, 4. plastic wrappers under the hood. I got jiffy-lube service from a Mercedes Dealership. the service manager must have been a used car salesman in the past because he has a way of talking that minimalizes issues and takes all blame off him and his team of techs. For a Mercedes dealership I expected better and will be using any of the countless Mercedes dealerships North of Chicago from now on. read more

Nice place, a little difficult to find. Certified Used Mercedes. Unfortunately the delivery consisted of there's the car congratulations. I had to figure out how to connect my phone etc. I needed to go back in and find my sales person to get assistance. Tried to set up my Mercedes MBRACE but the car needed an update to the system so back to the dealer I go. Need to call XM to get the satellite radio going. Received a generic auto manual, just a 1" thick book that covered every iteration from base to AMG nothing specific fplastic bag, which was also odd. Just ppoor customer service. My deal was completed right outside of the Sales Managers office, not once did he acknowledge me with even a hello or a congratulations on the new car, nothing. I would not buy another car from this dealer. I'd go someplace where they appreciate their clients. I expect more and frankly I paid for better service. Love the car though. Update Car needs updating in order to connect to mBrace systems. Scheduled to drop off for the day next week. Maybe this could have been done by the selling dealer. Update ll 2-11-20 Coupe weeks old maybe 1000 miles. Paint is coming off 2 of my factory AMG 20" 5 Spoke wheels and a center cap is delaminating. The rear license plate has multiple hole from screws being installed. The holes that have the nut on the backside are missing. Coarse screws have pierced the paint underneath. Had a horrible experience. They kept pushing back delivery (twice) even though we were coming in from out of state (and we had to make many arrangements). They acted inconvenienced by us wanting to purchase a vehicle because they were "too busy" and the salesman got rude on the phone because he had to come in on his day off (which he reminded me of several times as if it were my fault). When we complained to the manager, they didn't apologize and said "that doesn't sound like something that would happen" as if we were lying. When we finally canceled our purchase, their response was "we'd be happy to". Would not recommend working with these people. We are so grateful that this didn't work out. Overdue review... Excellent MB dealership. Hans, Ryan, and Trent were a pleasure to meet and work with. I went in looking to buy a new 2020 S560 sedan, and test drove that, along with the S450, CLS450 and the E43. S560 sedan was the real winner, for me and my desires... We have a Mercedes Benz dealership in LP (Fletcher Jones), and frankly, the prices were comparable. However, the Knauz team was far more knowledgeable, personable, and informative. I really appreciated the customer service here (esp Hans). When you're spending 6 figures on a new car, you expect nothing but stellar service, and the Knauz team delivered. Knauz has plenty of options if you're looking for an S class Benz. More options of the 2020 S560 here than in the city. The S560's trunk space is large- it fits a stroller, luggage, and other bulky belongings. The back seats are ultra comfortable, and the NUNA Pipa Lite LX car seat + base fits nicely back there (it was a struggle with another car we own). The ride is so incredibly smooth that it feels like you're floating on clouds. We bought an additional 3 years of the extended warranty for the sedan, giving us 7 years in warranty; the extended warranty at Fletcher Jones was extremely limited. The S560 is a beauty. We love it as our family car; it's the best ride we've driven yet (the Maybach was nice, with even more space, but too loud for us)! The best CON ARTISTS I have ever seen from top to BOTTOM especially the young gentlemen who have no clue what is going on and are the first line of defense to protect the more seasoned miscreants. That is was what this dealership represents. Their "service" department is run by the lowest of the low with a common bait and switch tactic, not honoring coupons or rebates THEY SEND out only to find out the fine print, which does not exist but is altered or changed when the work order is written. Their inflated rates and cost are unheard of, but if you are willing to overspend then this is the place for you. Once you own a Mercedes, it will be the longest suffering you will experience with that vehicle and service. Unfortunately I brought my 2017 Mercedes sprinter 3500 in for its first tire rotation and they damaged all four rims. I have custom Alcoa special order rims that I purchased with the vehicle brand new. I brought the vehicle in on Wednesday August 14th for its first tire rotation and when I got it back every one of my wheels are scratched and damaged. I've called at least six times and left multiple messages with the service writer and the service manager and have yet to get a call back it's been two days. I'm driving from California to the whistling Straits golf facility and stopped at this place on the way to get a tire rotation and this is what I got. Obviously I'll never go back because I don't live here but I just want to make sure everybody knows what kind of treatment I got. The car was then held ransom for what they said was an ignition system fault, which I asked for the old part and they didn't have it. I took the car after paying for work not done to a different mechanic who told me that the ignition was not changed, a new ignition comes with a new key and a new switch; these are all original. NO WASH FOR YOU! We have been Mercedes owners for over 8 years and one of the benefits is getting a car wash at any dealership. This is a nice benefit because it keeps those Mercedes on the road all shinny and beautiful. It is like instant marketing on the road. Everyone else's cars are full of salt and dirt and then this clean flashy MB drives by. It makes people look. We decide we would swing in and get a wash. The service guy looked at us and said, "Oh I can't do it. I've only got one guy washing cars!". He couldn't even look us in the eye when he denied us. I was a little shocked because I've never heard no from a MB service person before. This is not the customer service I expect when owning a MB. In fact, this place has washed our car before. So I didn't understand why there was an issue now. We have even had our MB washed at several dealerships on long road trips in the US. And again it was never an issue. You're probably wondering why this isn't a one star review? I'm giving an extra star for the Cutie's in the service waiting room. Those are those small mini orange/mandarin fruits. They are easy to peel and fun to eat. It is nice that management is putting out a healthy snack for its customers. So someone does care here. I had to have one to keep me from getting upset at the service guy. This review is in no way to reflect there sales staff in the showroom. I had no interaction with any of them on this visit. Let's get back to being denied our car wash. The one guy who was suppose to be washing cars was kind of just walking around. The service person who told us he only had one guy also pointed to us to show us the one guy. So as I was eating my Cutie I watched the one guy walking around and I kept thinking you could have washed my car by now. Some advice to the service guy is to lie to me next time! I said "okay Tom, thanks." Again - that was May 28, 2021! Today is August 23, 2021. I have NEVER heard back from Tom, the manager! I don't have any updates. any voicemails, any calls, text messages or emails, etc! NONE! I told Tom on my last call with him in May (28th) that I didn't like that I was the one doing (all) the follow ups, all the check ins, all the communication, etc! I thoroughly explained my gripes! And yet, here we are again - 3 months after we last spoke - speaking about my experience! By far - by far - by far the (Worst) experience I've ever had with a car service in over 40 years!! Stopped there with my Electric Benz to get the windshield wipers changed. The place is disorganized and the people working there don't seem to care whether customers are coming in or not, in fact I felt like an inconvenience and saw others treated with indifference bordering on disrespect. In the service bay I was directed to park my car in two different spots, then I was sent to the parts counter (which is a small, unattended desk), to buy the parts and which I was supposed to bring back to the service department for them to install... I've NEVER seen this in ANY other luxury dealership. Not to digress, but this begs the question, suppose I needed my tires replaced, am I supposed to walk to the parts desk, but the tires, and then carry the tires to the service desk??! A smug guy came out at the parts desk after what seemed like forever waiting, I told him what i needed, and after another long wait he came out to tell me that they don't stock the wipers and it would be about a week for them to get them... I told him to forget it and went to Advance Auto Parts instead - this regular parts store had my wipers in stock and came out to install them on the spot, all with a wonderful attitude and a smile on their faces despite the punishing cold outside. Maybe Knauz could learn the basics of customer service from Advance Auto... This wasn't my first disappointing experience at Knauz but I'll just stop here because I think by now even the phone I'm typing this on gets the point: Knauz has horrible service, the customer is just an afterthought, so they must be more interested in selling cars than giving a damn once you buy one. This is the opposite of all the reasons I buy Mercedes cars in the first place and Mercedes ought to pull their license. Update: about a week ago I followed up with them per Ray's request posted on Yelp and when Tom finally called me back, he said he didn't know what I was talking about but would check with Ray and call me back - over a week has passed and he still hasn't called me back. I'm highly disgusted with this place and the way they treat their customers. Their finance manager Vijay Zaveri ended up texting my spouse the night before the delivery at 9pm, bringing up her looks, saying how he agrees with his salesperson that she's really good looking, and that "she should be here" among other things. Mind you this is 9pm at night. My spouse found this to be very creepy, unprofessional, and very disrespectful. When we reached out to the General Manager James about it, all he said he was going to talk to him. He was rude and almost upset about my phone call. After I asked him to follow up with me he said that was not going to happen. We feel appalled by both of their actions. We are not writing this to gain anything. We just want people to be held accountable for their inappropriate actions. From this experience, this whole place seems very unprofessional and unethical. I hope the ownership sees this complaint and takes appropriate measures and trains their employees in ethics and customer service. read more

Here's a fun and friendly interaction with the team at Knauz: While biking on the North Shore Bike Path today, I came riding up to this business, approaching the traffic light. One of their wonderful employees had pulled one of the company cars fully into the crosswalk, forcing me to detour almost into oncoming traffic on Route 176 to get around him. I looked at the driver and said, "This is a crosswalk." And rode on. His reaction? - Pounding on his horn. - Making lewd gestures, then flipping me off. - Rolling down his window and swearing at me. - Bizarrely letting me know that I'm "fat" (5-foot-9 and 175 pounds, but shows you how triggered this guy was). The light changed, he turned left and kept swearing at me for a while before speeding off. All of this was essentially occurring in the dealership's parking lot, where potential customers were presumably walking in to shop for cars. This is the kind of high-class employee you want representing your business, no doubt. My sympathies to any customers who encounter this guy having a bad day. I'm guessing, though, that he has a lot of bad days. read more

This place has changed so much through the years from one of the premier Mercedes dealers in the country to a corporate and impersonal approach to dealing with customers. The management doesn't treat employees with respect and, in fact, when I talked to a "number two" person, he was incredibly insulting (he didn't want to hear any constructive criticism about how I though the morale could be improved). Here's how to alienate a customer: Send a letter inviting them to a "Special Event" on a single day. Offer them a nominal gift for coming, plus promise an additional one if they register in advance. When the do register, confirm it by email and then by phone call. This makes it seem like a big deal event. When they show up at 1:30 on that day, as "reserved" let them know that, unfortunately, all the gifts are gone, but they can come back in about 2 week and pick them up. You know, drive 15 miles for trinkets. Then they notice there is no special event at all. Its just the usual salesmen on hand to show cars, etc. Nothing special about that. Phooey! I've had it with being manipulated. Time to move on. read more

These people are crooks. I went to open my car, which was in a parking lot in Highland Park, and the remote wouldn't work. I then opened the door with my key and the alarm went off. I thought if I tried to start the car, it would reset the alarm. Instead it completely locked up my car. I called Mercedes and they said it would have to be towed. The gentleman from towing company I chose told me that he has seen this many times and my car went into theft mode. And the only way to reset it was to take it to the dealership. On our way to Knauz Mercedes we went. I was treated really well by guy in the service center, who gave me a car to get back home. The next day I received a call that they could not get my car to start because I needed a PSE Pump. The cost to replace would be $1348. UGH!! I was also told I had needed a right ball joint $250. Steering shock $172. Transmission cleaning $508. But those could wait if I did not want to spend the money right now. I was SO tempted to just let them take care of the PSE and figure out the rest of the stuff. But I decided to call another service center. I was told if I did need a PSE, the part would cost $580 and $150 to install. I would have to have it towed from Knauz to the new location, which I got a quote for $75. And while it was going to be much more effort than I was interested in, and I was still going to have to pay Knauz the $140 for the diagnostic test, I decided to go ahead and do it. I figured the effort was still worth saving $400 - which Mercedes was simply going to put in their pocket and call me a fool. So I called Jim, the uber friendly, extra compassionate service guy who wanted to take care of me. I told him I would be in to pay the bill and the tow truck would be coming in the morning. MIRACULOUSLY an hour after that call, he called to tell me that my car was able to start. So, I went up and drove it to the new service station to still have it assessed. They ran the very same diagnostic test and called me to tell me that - except the ball joint, there was NOTHING wrong with my car. It basically boils down to exactly what the towing company told me. My car went into theft mode and they reset it, and made up a $1348 issue that they hoped I would fall for. I could not be more disgusted by the behavior of car repair businesses trying to take advantage of people who know little about cars. I am appalled that this happened at a company that carries the Mercedes brand. What a shame. I am sure I was not the first. And I am certain I will not be the last. You should absolutely reconsider if taking your car to this dealership. read more

I got S 550 from them. they sold me breaks life time warranty and when i needed to change the brakes on the 2nd time, they told me to change rooters that cost $1000.00. So the life time brakes insurance is not a real life time - they will change the brakes but will make you to pay $1000 for rooters when the rooters in very good shape. I will never go back there and my next Mercedes will be from another dealer. read more

Just purchased a CPO 2014 C300 from another Mercedes Benz dealership closer to our house (western suburbs). Prior to the sale, I asked for the detailed service history for the vehicle. No problem, they said. Out they come with the Carfax! Not the same thing. We ended up buying the car with the promise that someone could run the service details between 8-5. Two days later and the only records they provided were the CPO inspection records. STILL not what I wanted to see! (Why is this so difficult?) Fast forward to this afternoon and my call to Lloyd at Knauz. He was understanding, extremely pleasant, helpful, and fun to chat with. He was also able to read me the service history of the vehicle. Magic! It *DOES* exist! If we didn't live over an hour away from Knauz, I would be taking my car to Lloyd and his service team simply for the kindness he showed this afternoon. Dick Bradley is an outstanding salesman, who really knows the cars. He's very professional, courtious and wants to be sure you are comfortable with your purchase. He gave us a great price. They did not have the exact car we wanted on the lot, but Dick found one in the area and had it the next day. He had Sam Greenberg walk us through all of the features of our new car, including setting up our phones and contacts, etc. He did a great job. Vijay took care of the financing for us and offered all of the programs that MB provides in a relaxed setting that let us decide, without any undue pressure. My review is a couple of weeks late. However, I wanted to take the time to share my opinion of Knauz Mercedes Benz in Lake Bluff. I've dealt with them Knauz a long time ago and didn't have a very good experience. Later, I hesitated to visit Knauz again only because my other Mercedes dealer didn't have what was needed; so, I contacted Knauz over eight months ago and he listened and, in person he was even more professional therefore, I decided I would give Knauz a second chance but, only if I'm dealing with Mike Jakus. Each time I visit Knaus Mike goes the extra mile to assist me as well, other customers I've observed him assisting; while I'm waiting my turn. It feels great to walk into an establishment and you're treated with patience, professionalism and respect as opposed to being ignored or rushed through. He went out of his way to assist me in purchasing new tires for my vehicle months ago. Again I returned approximately one month ago and he assist me again with patience as I determined how to move forward with my unexpected auto repairs; he and his manager literally made my day!
