Husband called in to check prices for a muffler delete and was completley disrespected after being greeted with a disgusting attitude from the associate. If customers calling in for services bother you, then you need to look into another line of work. Was just about to drop $300-$700 here for a 30 minute task but will now gladly take my money to a place where customers are respected. Ps, if you read their reviews here on Yelp, you can see other people complain of the exact same thing. This is the second time my Tahoe has been in to see Kevin, and I had to let everyone know how pleased we have been with his customer service and quality of work preformed. The first time we came to Landa Muffler & Brake was to have a CO2 sensor (that my husband tried to unsuccessfully repair) replaced. Kevin was very knowledgable about the repair needed. He was able to get the vehicle scheduled in a reasonable amount of time, and did a great job with the repair. A few months later and the other CO2 sensor codes came up and my husband immediately called Kevin to schedule an appointment to have him replace them. I was referred to Landa by a autobody shop, to look at my car and see why the check engine light was on. When I got there, they pulled my car in, looked it over, and came back and told me Kevin would call me with what they found. Kevin called me the next day and told me I had the wrong converter put in my car, even researched on where to get the correct converter and told me to call dmv emissions to handle the dealer who sold me the car. Well, when the dealer refused to fix this issue, and I asked Kevin to give a statement, a estimate, a piece of paper with what he found, he told me, verbatim " look lady, I have a business to run, if I have to go court, are you going to pay me 102.00 a hour to sit there?". Then told me IF I paid him to fix my car, he would write up whatever I liked, knowing that I needed this info to get the dealer to pay for my repairs. This guy literally tried to blackmail me for a service he ALREADY did! Not only will I tell EVERYONE I know to avoid him at all cost, I am reporting him for this unethical, illegal service! Dropped my truck off to have Kevin change the catalytic converter on my truck because it wasn't running right. He popped the hood and before he hooked anything up, he motioned me to the front of the truck. He said, " Do you hear that?" I heard a "tick tick tick". Then he pointed down to a spark club that was sparking through the plug wire. He said it was running on 7 cylinders, not the 8. He recommended I change the plug wires before he works on it. By not changing the plugs before he worked on the catalytic converter, it would not correctly run and could ruin the converter. No charge to me. So I ran home, swapped the plugs and wires, called him and he said to bring my truck down. I dropped it off and 2 hours later and at a reasonable price, I had a new catalytic converter. He said the old one was shot and not performing 100%. Now my truck runs better and cleaner! He was honest and very reasonably priced. Now he's doing the front end work on my sons truck. I'll post a review that I know will be another great one!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND LANDA MUFFLERS! **Update** Kevin called and said our sons truck was done and ready to be picked up. Drove down and paid him. We drove the truck home and it took a little bit for my son to get used to super responsive steering! Update: when it comes to brakes these guys have about a 4th grade mentality. I went in for a simple master cylinder replacement. When they called and said the custom part I had was "bad" I had a new one shipped overnight; only to find out they installed it wrong. Getting the Jeep back the booster was damaged and locked up my front brakes to the point of smoking...merely blocks from their shop. Taking it back I was told I must have done something because to them everything was fine. When I asked if they correctly bench bled the master Steve get very red in the face, threw up his arms and walked towards me very aggressively. They were very threatening handed me my keys and told me to leave. Ended up costing me over $1000 in damage to parts and labor. read more

Landa previously did a magnaflow muffler on my Jeep...no complaints. I stopped in today to get a quote on repairing damage to my exhaust that recently occurred in an accident. I explained that the vehicle had been in an accident and that I was looking to have the axle back of the exhaust replaced and possibly delete resonators...he just stared at me and said he would need to get it on the lift...I said ok...still nothing. No, I can do that now, later, two days from now, schedule an appointment, I'm busy now, nothing. Just a blank stare. I asked if he could give me a ballpark or...? He hesitated. And said 1 million dollars. Yeah? I know when I'm being told to go screw myself. What do you do with that? Just lost a customer. I work in the auto industry here in Reno and I will inform everyone I know and deal with to go else where. read more

His prices were also on par with just about every other shop. The quality is AMAZING. Him and his team have great attention to detail. I have a '66 Dodge pickup with a Slant 6. The exhaust on it was pure garbage. I brought it in and told Kevin I wanted it to sound as close to a V8 as possible. He knew exactly what was needed to make that happen. I was traveling with my 5th wheel, hit a bump, and the entire exhaust pipe behind the muffler fell off of my 1997 Ram diesel. I called Landa muffler because I had them put a new exhaust on an old Camaro I used to own when I lived in the area. Kevin answered, and as I explained the situation he asked "did your truck come with a catalytic converter?" I said "I don't know, it has an aftermarket Banks exhaust on it." He rudely replied "that's not what I asked you. If it came with a catalytic converter and it doesn't have one, then I could get fined $2500 for working on it and I'm not doing that." I was offended by his very condescending tone, and politely thanked him and told him I would go to another shop. I called another muffler shop in town and the polite gentleman listened to my problem and will happily weld the pipe back on. And yes, my truck DOES have a catalytic converter and it is still intact. Given the tone of Kevin, I won't ever consider Landa muffler again. It appears they don't need my business anyway, because they can afford to run potential customers off. read more

Replaced the exhaust manifold on my RV in a very timely manner. Only reason I'm not giving a 5-star rating is because the existing pre-heater hose no longer fit after the exhaust manifold replacement and I had to notice that on my own and replace it by myself. Kevin is great, I had a broken exhaust stud I wanted replaced to fix a leak, he put it up on the lift diagnosed the real problem which was improper welds cut and re-welded down pipes which got rid of a rattle from my catalytic converter hitting my frame rail and fixed the stud for a super reasonable price. Did I mention he got me in the same day I called, beginning to end less than 1.5 hours. Friendly and efficient I will be back for sure. read more

My K1500 Chevy Silverado had sprung an exhaust leak, and I decided that after talking to a coworker about where he takes his cars for exhaust/muffler work, would read up on reviews on a place he recommended: Landa Muffler on 4th St. Overall, Landa's reviews were favorable with a few not-so-great ones. But I decided that I wasn't going to take my rig to any Midas or Meineke shop, because I have taken my car there years ago and wasn't too impressed with their parts and workmanship. I would just have to commit to a leap of faith and try Landa. I went inside the shop and Kevin greeted me warmly. After getting my truck on the rack in less than 5 minutes after getting there, he then proceeds to LISTEN to what I had to say: it was my beater/ski rig, and I didn't want to spend too much on getting my leak fixed. To me, this quality is a TRUE characteristic of a consummate professional. He then SHOWED me what was wrong, and recommended I replace the original catalytic converter (clogged ??), rusted muffler and rusted exhaust. The truck is 21 years old and has 172,000 miles, so his recommendation was valid in my eyes. He told me that he would upgrade the exhaust piping from the stock 2.5" to 3" from the header all the way to the back, and he would also upgrade the muffler to something that would sound good. He told me that he'd use Magnaflow components, which is one of the premier exhaust brands in the automotive business. I asked him how much it would cost OTD with parts and labor, and was prepared for a sticker shock. When he told me the price, I was both surprised AND elated !! I told him, "let's do it" and he and his assistant went to work on it right away. I get a call that my rig was ready in 3 hours. My g/f drove me to his shop and I told him, "can I see my truck before I pay ??". He said, "Sure. Do you want to hear how it sounds too ??". When he cranked the engine over, she sounded a bit louder and throatier. She sounded BADASS, imo. I crawled underneath to inspect their work while the engine was humming, and I was pleasantly surprised at the level of work they put in. The welds looked great (as far as I can tell) and I couldn't hear ANY leaks along the pipes and welds. I happily paid him and we small-talked a bit more. I found him extremely friendly and easy to talk to. He is a "straight-shooter", no BS kind of guy, a rarity in the auto repair business. My g/f had a hard time getting her minivan from "Park" to "Reverse" on his driveway. She called me over and I tried in vain to shift it, but the shift lever wouldn't budge. Kevin saw from his office that we were having a hard time getting out of his shop, so he strolls towards us and suggests methods in getting it out of "Park". One of his methods worked. Like I said, Kevin is just one of those nice guys, and I wouldn't hesitate taking any of my vehicles to him for exhaust or brake work. I would highly, HIGHLY recommend him to my friends and family. (BTW, my truck seems to run a bit more peppier, probably due to the new cat and upgraded exhaust diameter. And she sounds AWESOME !!!!) Thanks Kevin and Landa Muffler !!!! read more

It pains me to write this and I'm sure Kevin will want to respond. I had custom exhaust work done about 6 years ago at Landa to my lifted Jeep Wrangler and was very happy with the work they did. Thus, when I needed new cats for my '01 Audi S4 - I immediately went to Landa. I made it a point to ask if they were familiar with this particular car and the work that needed to be performed; given my previous experience I trusted them. I stress - this was by no means a simple job and at a minimum required at least 7-8 hours to perform. The OEM cats for this model are no longer made - so when they ordered Magnaflow cats that had a universal flange - I assumed (should have asked) that they knew something I didn't. After a week and a lot of attempts (including calling Audi and trying several different parts) they were unable to complete the job. I was now left with my S4 without any pipe/cats from the turbos to the mid exhaust and as a result - undriveable. After speaking to several of my Audi mechanics in Sac and Reno, I asked and Landa offered to have the car transported to a garage that could complete the job. I was also offered compensation for my trouble (I accepted the complimentary transport - but I declined their offer of compensation). I'm fortunate that I have more than one vehicle but nevertheless, I was immensely disappointed in Landa's taking on a job that was beyond their ability to complete - including product knowledge that was inadequate to inform their decision to take on this job. My caution would be that I would trust Landa to work on a standard swap out/exhaust - but like one of the other posts on here - I would be very wary of a complicated job that is out of their standard 'in / out' type of job. Landa expressed regret and I could tell they genuinely were sorry about what happened (Kevin said that this was the first time in his career this had ever happened). I have to give one star b/c of the way this job turned out - but Kevin and his staff are genuinely good, honest people who genuinely care about the work they perform as well as trying to do right by their customers. However, when something like this happens to you of this magnitude, you would be reluctant to return. read more

My muffler came loose from the grommets that hold it in place, I took my car in and Kevin diagnosed the problem immediately, I had backed into something and bent the exhaust pipe. I had to wait a week before they could do the repair because they are so busy, while I would have liked to get the repair done right away, I like the fact that I'm dealing with someone that is so in demand that there is a long wait. I came back on the appointed day and Kevin got right on it, great work at a fair price. They are also a certified smog station, I will definitely be back to smog my cars. read more

shotty work! Had them do a custom by-pass mod on my corvette. I even gave them pictures of exactly what I wanted. They installed a twice spliced piece of pipe that looked like Ray Charles welded it. I've got a lifted Jeep Cherokee 4x4, and when I put on new leaf spring shackles the bolts now interfered with the tail exhaust. I had Kevin@Landa put in a new system from the 'cat' back. Very quick install and was charged a fair amount. Kevin custom bent the tail pipe to exit without interfering with the shackles. Thank you Kevin and your coworker for your help! While in Reno the week between Christmas and New Years my old truck decides it would stop being dependable after some investigation it turns out I need a catalytic converter, I called several places in the Reno Sparks area a few over the phone quotes were lower but the only person that seemed genuine was Kevin his price was only a few dollars more the the big chain guy but he actually sounded like he was going to look more into the problem. Being an out of town we I was worried about time he stayed open New Year's Eve and got me in. He didn't try to sell me more then I needed but gave me a quote for custom exhaust after I asked... That's when his prices were amazing. A few hundred less then the quote I received at home in Washington state and he could do it on the spot on a holiday. Recently brought in a muffler to be attached to my axleback. I was persuaded to make a complete axle back with larger piping instead. Rather than taking out the two bolts to remove the axle back, they decided to chop it in half and cut off the flange where the midpipe is to meet up with the axleback. Lazy and unfixable to a part they did not ask to ruin. I've taken the axle back out myself and it takes less than 5 minutes (without a lift). They then attached hangers (poorly) to the muffler with steel that has since rusted; It is Reno, the metal will be exposed to salt and snow so use higher quality metal. After hacking up my old axleback they welded on the new piping instead of attaching a flange to mate up with my midpipe. Now my axleback is one solid catback. They also broke my $150 diffuser in the process. On top of that, they removed my $40 downpipe adapter to mate my downpipe with my midpipe and just shoved my donut gasket in between. I now have an exhaust leak since they stole my adapter. After everything, they have caused more damage to my car than the job cost. Very frustrating and now I have to deal with an immovable axleback and an exhaust leak. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Problem went away and then started hearing another noise which I thought was related, but turned out was a completely different issue.
