We recently moved into a newly built house with little or no landscaping. In addition the property had runoff, drainage issues and the ground was heavy clay. We interviewed a number of landscapers with not much success. Some didn't show, some wanted to wing it without a design and some just couldn't work within our budget. Then we found Evan Blewett and his company Land Arts In Apex NC. Mr. Blewett and his company design sustainable, low maintenance, and yet dramatic landscaping that can be appreciated and enjoyed from both outside and inside the house. He visited the property several times to get a full appreciation of the topography and then presented us with a design concept and photos of plantings. He showed us what could be accomplished working within our budget. He was able to design so we could do some things in phases and yet still make a major impact with phase 1. The transformation of the property is truly amazing. The property was regraded, gutter run off redirected, and tons of top soil added. There were a few surprises during the regrading but Mr. Blewett and his crew found solutions for every problem. In the end we have a yard with a beautiful water feature, added trees, flowers, grasses, minimized the area that was lawn and all designed with easy maintenance in mind. Everyone associated with Land Arts was professional and worked hard to give us our beautiful yard. Our 22 year old Cary home was in need of significant landscaping, we were having drainage problems and our foundation planting were overgrown. Several of our neighbors, whose yards we admire, had recommended Landsarts and were very happy with the work Evan had done with their landscaping. Evan took time to assess our drainage problems, even coming out in the rain, to develop a plan that would work best for our home. He did a great job diverting our gutter drainage to our natural area, which has helped tremendously. We were especially pleased with the way Evan listened to our requests and incorporated them in his plans. For example, we had a stone paver with an inscription that we wished to keep, and he incorporated it into a landing at the base of our deck's stairs. It turned out beautifully. Our front walkway was redone in pavers and he was great about allowing us to be included in deciding the shape of the contours of the walkway. The plantings he chose for our home have seasonal interest, are hardy and work well for our area, with easy maintenance. We would highly recommend Evan Blewett with LandArts. Our front yard, in Cary, had all original "builder plantings" from 20 yrs ago. Evan helped us redesign and select appropriate plantings to optimize sustainability as well as low-maintenance. Most appreciated, however, was his skill in regrading our yard to ensure proper drainage. He thought "outside the box" when designing our new walkway to accommodate our drainage issues. Evan proved to be very experienced and skilled in both landscaping and hardscaping. And, I can't say enough nice things about his labor crew. His three men worked very hard, were very polite (turned off their equipment if I stepped outside in case i needed to talk with them), and meticulously cleaned up at the end of the day.
