I think 3.5 stars is just about right. My broiled seafood platter was nice and fresh (though the sauce was a bit heavy). The fried calamari was also solid and they were able to do it without the fried peppers. My dad enjoyed his baked lobster. The lobster roll was the most disappointing. Lots of good lobster meat but not much flavor (I had to dip the lobster in my extra butter sauce). Decent wine list and very friendly service (if not particularly experienced). The outdoor seating had umbrellas but wouldn't be enough coverage if it rained. I rounded up to 4 because the patio is dog friendly:). read more

Oof, I'll start with the positives (this won't take long). The peppercorn Parmesan salad dressing is stellar. Free valet parking is a nice perk. With that out of the way, let's get down to the negs. There were four chairs at our table. Two of them were covered in bird poop. Thankfully, we only had 2 in our party and we were able to deftly maneuver to non-poop chairs. I ordered a lobster roll. 10 minutes later, the waiter said they ran out of lobster rolls, but somehow all the other lobster dishes were available. Moving on... Got a dozen oysters. They arrived submerged in water with a few ice cubes. Lousy shuck, shell pieces in most of them. Poots. I'd expect better in Idaho. An hour after the oysters, the waiter indicated there was a "kitchen malfunction" and our lobsters would finally arrive soon. No idea what that means, but we were finally served the skimpiest and most overcooked lobsters I've ever seen for $50 each. Dried out cold fries on the side. I told the waiter this was a very disappointing experience, and he didn't even respond. The location says it all. Total tourist trap. If you're hammered and coming off the ferry, this place is perfect for you! All others will do better with a filet-o-fish at McDonald's. Astoundingly, you have to give a credit card to make a reservation at this bucket by-the-sea. Nope! Stopped at Cumby's on the way home to eat a Snickers and forget the pure misery of this brutal meal. Landfall? More like Landfail or Landfill. Hard pass! read more

Go there for a drink but skip the food . This restaurant is beautifully located overlooking the sea. The food and service unfortunately do not live up to the expectations. I ordered a lobster roll which was served dry and tasteless. For $35 you expect some condiments or some seasoning in your food. It was bone dry with no sauce , salad or anything . It comes with a side of coleslaw ( the only saving grace of that roll) which they were out of and they informed me about this after they got my order. OK so why three stars for a beautiful waterfront restaurant. Mostly the food along with the overpriced menu items. The view was lovely the table was nice, the Aperol spritz was festive, but the food was just underwhelming for the price. The fried calamari appetizer was mainly tentacles and lacked flavor. My grilled salmon with garlic mashed potatoes was just lackluster. I mean I wanted to love it but it was really just OK. My husband said the same Said the same about his dinner. And when you're spending 200 bucks once you've had a drink an appetizer dinner and wine it should be really good. Went to the Landfall restaurant at 4:15pm on a weekday with my spouse and mother who is 100 years of age and in a wheelchair (to be fair, she looks 85). Hostess Jessica asked if we were having dinner. We volunteered that we were thinking of having drinks. Jessica said in that case we had to sit outside or on an actual bench by the entrance door if we were only having drinks. I might understand if the place was busy, but there were only about 2 tables inside the entire restaurant that were occupied. There was no one else waiting to be seated The hostess rudely stated it was the restaurants policy to require patrons to sit outside or at the bar. Obviously, a person in a wheelchair can't sit on a bar stool. We went to another empty restaurant and had apps and drinks and were seated at a table. Our bill was $87. Seems like $87 should buy you a table for a customer in a wheelchair at Landfall. We emailed our concerns over rude treatment with possible ADA violations to the owner of Landfall, but never received a reply . Will not dine there again. Rude, disrespectful, and unaccommodating to the disabled elderly population. They have come a long way from their humble roots. read more

The food was incredible! I forgot to take a picture of the fish and chips special, but it was really high quality stuff-- the fish was very tender and the "chips" were thick wedges of potato with crisped skin. The bread came pre-buttered and was just the right amount. And the mug of clam chowder came in an actual mug. We also finished with the Summer Berry Cobbler, which was great! The server was top-notch, on top of everything and clearly very familiar with the menu. He was quick, helpful, and effective. The overall ambience was great, too. My boyfriend and I were around the area for the weekend and wanted a date night spot. He found this spot and it was literally perfect! The outside has a fireplace where you can hang out, and the inside is uniquely decorated and has a very intimate vibe. From the beginning, the staff here were extremely friendly and customer service was perfect. Our server was great with recommendations and is great at what he does! We got our drinks, I got a raspberry Mojito which was nice and fruity with bits of fresh raspberries. The fried calamari's were delicious and fresh- a small was enough for the both of us. We each got our own side salads which was refreshing. They also had a garlic bread starter, which was thinly sliced and warm. I love that they used this garlic spread, as it added a lot of flavor and melted onto the warm bread nicely. I got the Savannah lobster which was a full lobster with a cream sauce, cheese, mushroom. I also used the butter and lime to help with the flavoring. It was delicious and there was a good amount of meat! We also got the chocolate lava cake. Came here for dinner with my family. Originally wanted to come here for the waterfront dining, but unfortunately the weather was bad on the only day we had left to come here. But luckily the indoor decor is pretty cool with a dark nautical theme. Lots of neat decor hanging around the restaurant. We didn't have a reservation and were able to get seated right away(Thursday night). For drinks, my husband got the landfall lemonade which he loved, I tried it and wished I had gotten it. I got the mai tai and it was a little heavy on the dark rum, but at least it wasn't weak lol. We got delicious garlic bread to start which was included with our entrees. They also came with house salads. I enjoyed the house salad. My husband upgraded his to a Caesar. For my entree, I had the broiled seafood platter. It came with sword fish, shrimp and scallops in a creamy sauce. It was great. The portion was huge and I was stuffed. My husband got the same thing and loved it. You also got to pick a side to go with it which I got mashed potatoes that were really good. I so wanted to get a dessert because they looked really good but like I said we were stuffed. Service here was amazing, all the staff were so nice. We had our kids with us and they were very kid friendly with high chairs, kids menu, and crayons. The staff paid our kids so much attention, which I totally don't expect at all but was very nice of them. One of the waitresses even brought our daughter a little dessert. Let me tell you about my most recent visit to the Landfill: This overrated establishment is right next to the docks at "The Oceanographic," so I have had occasion to visit a number of times when embarking & disembarking their oceanographic vessels. I've spent hundreds of dollars and many hours here, and have generally thought it was an ok place. Not any more. Recently, after a day of transcontinental travel, a colleague retrieved me from Falmouth, famished & thirsty, to join a group (the only patrons in the place at the time) who had been there all evening drinking $8 pints. The Landfill's kitchen had closed at 5:30 PM, five hours before. En route there, we stopped and got takeout burritos. While sitting next to the fire on the patio eating & drinking more $8 pints, some power-tripping assistant manager trainee (or maybe it was the owner? I did not do him the courtesy of turning around to make eye contact.) stepped outside, and in his best abusive stepmother tone berated us for doing so. His tone and delivery were over the top. One of our party reminded him that his kitchen had been closed for FIVE HOURS, but he finished with a parting salvo "...I hope you're proud of yourselves." It's a shame he vindictively turned off the propane burner in the firepit shortly thereafter, as I really wanted to burn my burrito packaging when I was finished. Actually, Mr. Assistant Manager Trainee, I am pretty proud of myself. I'm doing oceanographic research for a living while you are overcharging tourists for submarginal food. Captain Kidd's just up the street is a nice place on the water (rather than on a gravel parking lot) with better food and service. I'll be dining there from now on. A delightful lunch spot after ferrying back from Martha's Vineyard. The weather was delightfully gloomy all day and a mug of clam chowder hit the spot perfectly. My husband, son, and I were in the Woodshole area one early afternoon and decided upon the Landfall for an early lunch. It is so much more interesting looking on the inside than from what it appears to be outside. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted at the hostess station and escorted right away to a beautiful table in the back, away from traffic for my 6 month old son and right by the water. It was a beautiful day and the cool breeze from the ocean trickled in on both sides of us while the warm sun kept us feeling warm. We were almost sitting literally on the dock and had open doors and windows for my son to take it all in. The restaurant seemed classic/older with buoys hanging from the ceiling, it made you feel like you were on an old ship. Very cool and A+ for environment. The menu was on brand, boasting many delicious looking seafood dishes. Since it was lunch, I ordered a spinach & kale salad and added salmon and my husband ordered a lobster special. We asked our server to grab us a room temperature water bottle for our son and she quickly grabbed it for us. Our food was ready in no time and after we finished taking our son out to the dock and grabbing some photos, we were ready to eat. The portions were huge, the food was delicious, the service-excellent, and the prices were moderate to high. Parking is not great in this area so plan ahead. I would give negative star if that is an option. The service was extremely slow, we waited for more than 30 minutes to get our appetizers and another 45 minutes to get our main courses. When we asked the waitress, she blamed us for ordering an appetizer which caused the delay. In terms of the food, we ordered a local steamer as an appetizer, it was full of sand. When we give the waitress such feedback, she replied that it is supposed to be sandy because it was fresh off the water. Main courses are so so. My husband got the sea food platter and was extremely pleased as it was lightly breaded and fried which allowed for the sea food flavors to come through and allowed for a lighter lunch. We went on a family trip to Cape Cod during spring break back in April. The local town is limited on most of the tourist attractions due to the area and shops being closed for the season. Most of the food contained heavy oil or butter. It's a trick to season and cover up the fact that it is indeed frozen, not fresh! It's a such a shame as the area is known for live seafood and fishing. We were seated for a table for 4. We had the following: -Seafood broiled platter: Over-drenched heavily in butter. There were exactly 4 scallops and a few pieces of scrod, clams, and shrimp. The portion was extremely small for the price point. The dish was plain and drab-looking considering that it is supposed to be a somewhat "upscale" restaurant. The food appeared more of a gastro-pub quality. -Calm Chowder: It was ok. Standard chowder. -Fried Calamari: Quality was ok. -Lobster Roll: Be warned. Do not order this from Landfall. Try other famous spots. The few chunks of lobster was not freshly prepared. Hub was extremely disappointed. It taste like it came straight out of a can. Not even exaggerating. The bread was a bit hard too. It was also dabbed heavily in mayo to disguise the poor quality. While the reviews had me thinking this was more of a fine dining restaurant (it's not, very Capeish, but cute and great views!) the food and service was incredible! Second day of full capacity and they were busy but they didn't miss a beat and they were fast! We pigged out and enjoyed everything. The lobster bisque was perfect and you get a little cup of lobster to add to it. The lobster roll was not just claw meat, but good lumps of lobster tail and light on the Mayo. Where to start. We were seated promptly. The ambiance is very nice inside and it is located right next to the MV ferry in the harbor. Good and bad. The bad part is when the ferry leaves, all you smell in the restaurant and diesel fumes. Now the food. I got the baked stuffed lobster. For $51 this was underwhelming. The stuffing was mostly breadcrumbs. The lobster was also on the smaller side for $51. Not worth getting again. My child got mac and cheese which was just the Kraft box Mac and cheese. $10 for box Mac and cheese is ridiculous if you ask me. At least try and max a homemade Mac and cheese, it isn't hard. My wife ordered a lobster roll only to find out they were out! Out of a lobster roll....on the Cape....at a seafood restaurant....in a harbor?!?! Mind boggling. She ended up getting a burger and that was underwhelming also. All in all, a very underwhelming experience. The food was mediocre at best and the prices were high for what you get.
