As a cyclists that also rides the 29" BMX retro bikes i recently stopped in to one of the Landrys locations. I have been a customer for about 4-5 years and spend about 10k a year on bikes from Various stores. A group of us give bikes to local kids that can't afford them. During my visit i needed to purchase some parts for a few of the SE bikes i recently bought. We bought 8 SE bikes for local kids. I usually change the free wheels out along with the pedals. When i entered the store a Landry team member approached the counter and slammed his yellow water tumbler down and looked at me. I was already discussing what i needed with a young lady and this gentleman over heard what i was saying and began to say how much he disliked the 29" bikes and the people who rode them. He also stated that he sees them riding in front of cars and essentially can't wait till "they are all gone". He appeared to be very upset with me for asking about the SE bikes and parts i could buy. He continued to say that the roads will be better once all "them are gone". Almost indicating that he's ok with the people that ride the 29's should get hit. He discussed the bikes weaving in and out of cars and increasing the chances of getting hit. He essentially lumped every bike rider in one group. Btw i can't do wheelies and i don't ride in front of cars. That was enough for me and i started my walk out the door. There was another customer that glanced over at me and was perplexed as i was. With that said i will never step foot in a Landrys bike shop again. If this is the type of team members you want to hire and represent your company, good luck with your business. But you will never see another dime from myself or my organizations. PS i am a local business owner and i would never allow a team member to work for me who has this type of opinion about riders and bike owners. read more

My service appt fell far short of expectations. I had a $378 repair ticket on a $650 2-year old bike which was pricey but understandable based on this market. Included in that price was a "ride ready" tune-up for $200. The completed bike was not ride ready and showed no attention to detail or competence with the repair. The rear axel was not fully seated in the frame; the brake pads were not aligned with the rims; reflectors hung loose without screws; tire pressures were 20 + 27 psi. None of these examples demonstrate a product that is "ride ready." I completed the repairs myself which was annoying since I had just paid someone else to do it. read more

I've been to at least four Laundries Bike Shops across MA, and the pattern is clear: zero customer service and inflated prices. The last time I'll ever go was a recent visit to the Norwood shop, where I was quoted $250 for a simple drivetrain adjustment on an analog bike--$100 more if it's an e-bike. Most of the inventory looks like it's meant for your mom or dad. These shops are employee-owned, but that hasn't translated to accountability or a customer-first attitude. read more

This store sucks! Said they could fix my ebike, but ***couldn't even get the battery off to measure the voltage***. Then had the nerve to charge a $50 diagnosis for doing ---nothing---. When I spoke with the manager, she eventually agreed to "split the difference," but *never returned the half the money*. The real kicker: When I dropped off my bike, I removed the battery for their convenience! I showed the technician how to put it on and take it off, using their tools, in their shop. Yet their work receipt, attached to this review, says "I've got nothing. I can't even get the battery out to test it with a multimeter." I suggested to the manager that she might have the technician to whom I demonstrated battery removal do the work, but in a defiant, headstrong manner, she maintained all the technicians are equivalent. Even though when you look at the proof I attached to this review, you can see the tech had zero knowledge. If you take your ebike here, you will feel so frustrated like me at having wasted your time driving there, getting ripped off, then enduring the sad 2nd trip to pick it up and bring it back to your home, still broken, having no bike to ride in the upcoming days, and finally starting back at square one looking for a competent shop. You are taking a huge financial risk if you make yourself vulnerable by taking an ebike here. Strong avoid. If you get screwed over like me after reading this, you will have no one but yourself to blame. read more

Just purchased my second bike from this store and the customer service is beyond amazing. If you are looking to buy a bike remotely close to this location and you don't purchase from this store, you are doing it wrong. I purchased a road bike a few years ago and decided I wanted a bike for any path/trail so I wouldn't be limited by terrain. Went back to Landry's because I had such a great experience the first time around. With covid putting bikes in high demand, I lucked out and they had a bike in stock that was my size because it came in the night before. Happily hit the mountain that weekend and just felt like the bike was too big for me even though it was the correct size for my height. I reached out to the store and they were super supportive about ordering a smaller size and exchanging the bike. Since their return policy is 30 days from the original purchase and I wasn't so sure about buying a smaller bike that could be too small, they took care of everything. They ordered it no charge and told me to hold onto the other bike in the meantime, extending the return policy since they didn't know how long it would take for the new bike to come in and it may not be the right size anyway. Needless to say, I didn't use the bike in the meantime even though they said I could have. Fast forward to this week. The bike came in and it ROCKS! It's absolutely perfect. They exchanged the bells and whistles I had purchased for the other bike and got me all set up in no time.... even returned one of the bottle cages that didn't fit on my new model and took it off the price of the new bike! Couldn't be happier and anytime I need anything cycling related, I will be going here. You should do the same!! Customer service experience was a dream. read more

The staff is friendly and helpful and I will be back here when I am ready to purchase the family bikes. I brought in a frame that needed a brake hose internally routed and bled. I was extremely dissatisfied with the whole process and won't ever find myself in a Landry's bike shop again. If you're new to bikes I recommend avoiding this place unless you want to run the risk of being scammed. What should have been a simple job turned into a nightmare. Backstory: I have been riding bikes since around age 10, from XC to downhill. I recently began building my SO a hardtail that can be used for light singletrack and bike paths. I bought a frame (2018 Specialized Rockhopper Expert) and began collecting parts. I already had a set of Avid Elixir's sitting around so I decided those would go on this bike. I then realized, unfortunately, that I don't have the tools to disassemble the rear brake, snake the hose through the frame, re-assemble the brake, and then bleed it. OK, NBD, I'll just go to a bike shop. Turns out it was a big deal... From the minute I spoke to the bike mechanic, Greg, he treated me poorly, or as if I was a naive child. I told him I was building a bike for my amateur SO and it was only being used for bike paths and light gravel. Doesn't matter, Greg told me the Avid Elixir's I had were crap; giving me the backstory on how every single Avid Elixir brake was defective and would eventually fail. He asked me if I wanted to buy a pair of cheap Shimano's instead and that it would be easier for him. I told him I have three other pairs of Elixir's on other bikes and have never had a problem and I want to use the brakes I have. Annoying. This bike isn't riding in the world cup Greg... I eventually got an invoice for $73 and change which I felt was reasonable given the fact that he had to take apart the brakes and rout the hose. Three days later I received a call from Aaron who told me that the hose on the rear brake was too short. I asked him what he meant and he told me that when turning the handlebar the brake line is too short and tugs on the caliper. I asked him if it was rideable and he skirted the question and asked if I wanted to buy a new hose. Extremely annoyed at this point I told him to leave it alone and that I'd come inspect the bike in person. What Aaron didn't know, apparently, is that I knew the brake line was long enough. The hose measured 55" and the path on the frame the hose follows measured 41". I also had installed the brake externally, pulling the line taut to the frame and turning the handlebars with no issue. When I got to Landry's to inspect the bike Greg was there and I told him that I knew the brake line was long enough and he doubled down on the shadiness saying "it's too short, you'll see...". They brought the bike down and THERE WERE NO ISSUES. I could turn the handlebar clockwise PAST the frame without tugging on the caliper. At this point I knew they tried to scam me into buying a new hose and paying for the labor to replace the hose because the bike was 100% rideable. I guess they thought this bike needed to do bar spins?? Sheesh. I told them to bleed the brake because at this point I just wanted this nonsense to be over and didn't want to mess around with another bike shop. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE, THE SCAM CONTINUES. When I came to pick my bike up after the bleed, the person to rang me out said that when they determined the line was too short they essentially purged the invoice from their system. He then told me the final price was $87 and change and that Greg forgot to add the brake fluid in the original invoice... I wouldn't have been mad at the last part because mistakes do happen, but they tried to scam me into buying a new hose and made me come in to the shop to call their bluff. Overall be weary of these people because if you don't know your stuff they might try and take advantage of you. I wish it was easier to patronize local bike shop's, but they always seem to shoot themselves in the foot or do something shysty. read more

I was looking to replace my old mountain bike with a trek dual sport. I had conducted all my research and knew what I wanted. With the virus, new bikes have become scarce with folks practicing social distancing. I called all over my area within 25 miles with no luck or a suggestion to preorder and wait at least 60 days or more. I expanded my search and came across Landrys, which btw had great reviews. I used the interactive chat never thinking someone would reply within minutes. I explained what I was looking for and was directed to the Norwood store. I called the Norwood store and spoke with Tommy. He confirmed the dual sport 2 was available at the common retail cost. He also confirmed my appointment and he'd put it aside for me. After about a 45 minute ride I arrived and called to check in. Within 5 minutes I met with Tommy, test rode the bike and closed the deal. I added a kickstand and water bottle holder (installed on site). Tommy gave me the tips and instructions on my new bike and cashed me out. Definitely recommend with zero pressure as well as courteous and professional service. read more

Brought in my bike to be tuned up. They took me immediately; made adjustments to the brakes, chain, and gears, checked the tires and had me out within 30 minutes. The technician was highly knowledgeable and told me what he was doing as he tuned up the bike. Will definitely be using them in the future. read more

I met with Dan Cronin who originally sold me the Verve II at the beginning of the pandemic back in the spring of 2020. Just as he did then, he was most helpful and has a very friendly demeanor. I brought in two bikes for servicing; one for a flat and the other needed a kickstand. I had resigned myself to leaving the bikes and retrieving them in several days. Dan, deferred to one of his colleagues to take my wife's bike and install a kickstand and took me right away. He found a pinhole leak in my tire tube and replaced it. I did not expect such quick service and I am grateful. Dan is clearly an asset to your organization and provides superb customer service. l continue to visit your Norwood store and Dan, in particular, for all future purchases and service needs. New store is huge and all of the staff was super friendly. Dan was super knowledgeable too! read more

Great place. Expensive, but very good quality for bicycles and parts. Be certain to work with an experienced person. Although everyone there is very nice and willing to help, some have little experience while others are real experts. Sometimes, I feel as if I'm being pushed to purchase something just because they have it in stock, even though it is not necessarily the best for my needs. Since they are very expensive, I do not want to purchase something to "get by" and then have to purchase something else again later. Sales reps also appear to be in a rush, and that is also an issue. I strongly recommend Landry's bicycles, but shop there shrewdly, do your homework, and don't let them rush you. read more

Understand things are different now but I had my first poor experience there. I am a long time customer and have purchased several bikes there and always take them there for service. I am familiar with most of there staff but I was not familiar with the staff member who serviced me the other day. I went there to pick up a new bike that I ordered by phone. He brought bike outside and quickly explained how it functioned. He checked the seat height and had me ride it but loudly called me back after I rode it for about 20 feet. He was ver quick and abrupt and impatient. Couldn't wait for me to leave. I tried to get him to explain the new computer they installed for me but he didn't just saying that it was straightforward. It is not and my research of it suggests it is a low rated model that is difficult to operate. Very disappointed in this entire experience. read more

Just got a brand new $600 bike for my 13 year old which is a pretty outrageous price to begin with. Was never told the bike doesn't come with a kick stand. Took it home realized it and took it back the next day to have it put on. They still wanted to charge me for it, told them no way. I ended up paying half the price for the kickstand. This is by far the worst experience i have ever had at a bike shop and I have been riding for over 15 years. First of all there was next to nothing in this shop that had anything to do with BMX aside from one complete p.o.s. bike. Pretty interesting since they are listed as an FBM retailer. Secondly they knew nothing of bike tech. I brought my brand new SUnday Funday in to have a new crank put on. I only brought it to them because they said they could have it done by the end of the day and I had a competition coming up I needed to practice for. Big mistake. By the next afternoon the bike still wasn't done. When i asked why I was told they needed a bigger hammer. A BIGGER HAMMER? Why are they even touching my bike with any hammer let alone one bigger than you would find in a bike shop? There is a tool called a crank puller, I should think a bike shop would invest in one. I gritted my teeth and waited patiently for the call. Finally just before closing day 2 the bike was ready to be picked up. Fine. I went and got it, went to a local skate park, rode for five minutes when I realized my chain went slack and my rear tire was rubbing my brakes. No big deal, see, Sunday has these nifty little inventions called INTEGRATED CHAIN TENSIONERS, so with a little turn of an allen key I should have been back on my bike. Should've been, but these asshats broke one of my chain tensioner, then tried to hide it from me by screwing the remaining one all teh way back into the frame. I spent the next three days calling, but the little punk that broke my BRAND NEW FRAME called out sick and was gone. Nobody else in the bike shop had any clue at all what integrated chain tensioners were. Knowledgeable my ass. They are literally the best things to happen to bikes since the wheel and an entire shop full of "mechanics" couldn't figure out what they were. Finally on the 4th day the kid still wasn't there and someone else offered to have me bring the bike all the way back there so they cold figure out what went wrong and order the part. No offer for a refund of the 45 bucks the took from me to break my bike. Which I might add, 45 bucks to put a crank on is a ridiculous price. I still haven't gone back. Dick Maul's in Halifax gave me the part they broke for free. So my final summation is this, they are over priced, under skilled, ill equipped, and if they break your stuff they will go completely out of their way to hide it from you, instead of warning you there is a problem with your bike. Now I will say this, my experience is with the Norwood location. But I see place to review said location on yelp, and given that it is a chain, I stand by my review and will not be returning to any location that carries the Landry name. read more

This is not the place for Johnnies first bike- go to Walmart for that- this is the place for serious riders or those looking to join the fray. Prices vary- typicaly not an inexpensive place- but you will get quality expertise knowledge and they sell some of the better products, gear and bikes on the market today. read more

Went to the Norwood location to get a tube in the back wheel of my son's bike replaced. They did the job in 30'. When I picked up the bike, and carried it to the car, I noticed that the training wheels were put on sloppily, i.e. unevenly. Not a big problem, so I didn't bring it to their attention. Once I got home and took the bike out of the trunk, I noticed that the front tire was now flat. Filling it with air didn't help, as the air quickly ran back out. I don't know why the bike with perfectly working front tire was returned to me with a flat front tire - I really wish I tried both tires out in the store, but now I'm stuck replacing the tube in the front tire as well... Will not come again and wish I went somewhere else the first time. read more

Had a great experience there today after lugging out my bicycle out of the storage shed (where it had been left for years), brought it in to Landry's, where someone in the service department did a quick assessment on the spot, inflated the tires, noted a few areas to keep an eye on, suggested a tuneup in a low-key way, sold me some chain lubricant to apply myself. I walked out 15 minutes after coming in, with a workable bike just for the cost of the lubricant (which he told me how to apply). I'll be happy to give them my business in the future -- very impressed by the responsiveness and knowledge... read more

A big "thanks" to Aaron and the entire team over the years at your Norwood location: I picked up my Trek 7300 (purchased there 2009, has 25k miles) today after bringing it in for a new set of chainrings (and crank) plus bottom bracket. Great news: It runs so smooth, and shifts perfectly through all gears front and rear. I do a lot of the basic maintenance myself but I use the store and staff for parts and accessories (cassette, chain, derailleur, brakes, spokes, cables, tires, speedometer, pressure gauge), tools and lube, clothing, and even some friendly advice--it's a great place; staff is always helpful and responsive. read more

Landry's has always given me excellent service for my bike . I was introduced to them thru Pan Mass Challenge where they help us all along the course with maintenance issues (2 flat tires in the course of 10 miles). Today i went for maintenance on my old bike and ended up buying a new one. Ash was the sales person and he was extremely knowledgeable and gave me no sales pressure,spent a lot of time with me and explained everything. Went there on a Sunday late afternoon after my chain and got wedged between the cassette in the hub of my wheel. I was unable to extract it, and they did a great job taking care of it in a few minutes. They didn't charge me for the Service, as they had a very helping and friendly attitude. There have been times when I've had to wait in line for service, but overall this is a great shop, with knowledgeable service and sales people. read more

I was met by a very friendly approachable employee who helped educate me on the different bike features and the things that would need to be a part of my bike - like proper wheel height. He let me take a few out for a spin in the parking lot. He added a kick stand, took it for a ride himself when I mentioned the brakes were noisy and fixed everything on the spot and educated me about tune ups. No complaints here, and I'm happy to recommend them to anyone else. read more
