Beautiful bar in theater district. Made reservations for 5:00 on Wednesday and it was filled up by 6pm. Got the free Irish coffee martini by showing our show tickets - it was very strong! I'll stick to espresso martinis. Service was excellent. Finished our meal way before our 7pm show so should have taken our time with our cocktails before ordering dinner. Hubs enjoyed the shepherds pie. I thought it was ok. I don't know if ground beef is traditional (vs stewed) but that was a little disappointing for me. Wanted to shed some light on a great place that doesn't have many reviews. We were in the area to see a broadway show. Trying to find a nice establishment to grab a drink and something to eat before going in. Surprisingly in our search the night before, no good options were coming up. We decided to chance it. We stumbled into Langan's which was a few doors down from our theater, The Palace. We almost missed it with there being no noticable advertising of a restaurant/bar. It was the perfect place to stop. My wife and I ordered cocktails, she had a martini and i had an Old fashion with an Irish spin. We shared the chicken club which was more than enough to keep us full until dinner. The drinks and food were really good. The bartender was also very friendly. He gave us the story of how the new Langan's came to be with the owners investing into an irish chic restaurant from the normal pub. And he also let me taste a few irish whiskeys. Class. read more

Visited Langan's with a Women's group. There were about 12 of us. We were soaked from torrential downpours. The staff could not have been more accommodating. They even had bags for your umbrella at the front entrance. Nice touch. We received a free drink as they had a Theatre special. Food was amazing. They're French Dip melts in your mouth! What I wish I'd known before eating here... TLDR: If you're looking for an upscale bar with solid food, close to the Lena Horne Theater this is the place...if you're expecting a nice, quiet restaurant with excellent food - skip it. - - - - - It was dark and loud, clearly a favorite spot among locals. At 5:30 p.m., the after-work happy hour was in full effect. Clusters of people filled every space, spilling into the aisles from every corner. To exit after our meal, we had to tap shoulders, offer polite "excuse me"s, in a snakelike zigzag to the door. It was very loud--impossible to hold a conversation. We awkwardly, and only occasionally, tried to shout over the music and the crowd, but mostly we sat in silence, resorting to texting each other to continue our conversation. Food was decent/solid: 4 of 5 stars... I ordered the prefixed meal. Appetizer: chicken lollipops (some fusion of drumsticks with extra crispy skin slathered in BBQ sauce and a side of tangy, mildly spicy Asian dipping sauce). Entree: The lemon beurre blanc salmon was good, but the sauce was barely there--just a whisper puddled on the plate. The salmon was perfectly cooked and generously portioned, but flavorless, as was the asparagus. The sweet drops--tiny, pickled red peppers(?) -- added a nice tangy contrast, but there were only five of them to match 15-20 bites of fish. The saffron rice pilaf was also scarce, maybe a quarter cup, leaving the meal unbalanced and nothing to go with my salmon halfway through the meal. Dessert: The sticky toffee pudding was decent. I'd never had it before, but given the main ingredient is molasses- I think it's supposed to taste exactly the way it did: burnt, smokey and not sweet. Service was a mixed bag. The hostess was fantastic--warm, attentive, great eye contact. Bussers and food runners were friendly and helpful whenever we flagged them down, which we had to do often, since our actual server was nice but MIA. I even mentioned we were there before a Broadway show (which should've prompted her to check our tickets and offer the complimentary Irish Coffee Martini), but that never happened--we were barely able to get the food and drinks we paid for. Overall it was good - just not what we were expecting. There were 2 other tourists there who were clearly in the same predicament we were in. I'd recommend the business change the website category from restaurant to bar. Note: it's about a 6 min walk to the Lena Horne Theater. read more

This is a solid choice in the theater district. We didn't have reservations so are at the bar which was very busy, but still offered full service. The burger was wonderful. Sticky toffee pudding was also warming and good but more cake-y than I'm used to. Service was ok, again, just very busy at the bar. read more

Stopped here after seeing Maybe Happy Ending and wanting a nearby place with a restaurant week special. It was between this and another spot and we're glad we picked Langan's! A nice open space with rich styling, a friendly and helpful staff, and delicious food. For apps we had the French onion soup and chicken lollipops, both tasty. We each had the burger because the bacon marmalade sounded amazing and it was; the burger was huge and tasty and it came with these flat, crispy fries I'm now obsessed with. We loved the whipped ricotta and the tuna tartare. For mains we picked the French dip sandwich and the Gaelic chicken, both were phenomenal. We needed a place to eat lunch before the matinee. I've been to Langan's a few years ago and remember having a nice experience. I'm happy to say it is just as great. For a midtown restaurant, it is just far away from the craziness of Times Square, but not too far from getting to your show without having to walk far. Came in for dinner before a show. The restaurant is clean and really quite beautiful. We were seated at a very comfortable table in the back and were greeted immediately. The menus-Prix fixe & regular-are varied and interesting. Naturally there are Irish specialties among the mix. Husband LOVED the Shepherds Pie. Service was fast, food was delicious.
