I had a really peaceful and relaxing lunch here. We sat outside. Service was excellent. I started off with a passion fruit Mojito which was delicious and hit the spot. For entrées, we both ordered The growler salad. It was delicious with apples, avocado, Bacon, radicchio, celery carrots in a wonderful balsamic dressing.. The best thing of all was the grilled chicken that came on top of the salad. It was moist and juicy unlike most grilled chicken you get on salads, really delicious with a great flavor. Local bar near train station. They have typical pub food with some good appetizers. The wings are good, but the nachos fell flat. They have games on the TVs and usually it's not too busy. They have their own parking (metered), which is convinient. Cant comment on drinks, but the staff is attentive and friendly. If they revamp the menu, I would give this place another try, for now we only go here when we need a place thats open late and we know what to expect from the food without any surprises. read more

I've been here on late nights and picking up take out. Great options food wise, tasty.I've had the tacos, power bowl and I think some pasta dish. Service can be a bit slow on late nights since most people are at the bar but bartender is friendly and helpful so it makes up for that. The bar is owned by a firefighter so it has that "everybody knows knows your name" feel without being run down and serving more than just beer. Little spot to play darts in the back- not a presumptuous spot but not a hole in the wall either. Come for a casual date or bring everyone to watch the game and kick back some beers. Came here during the start of march madness. The place was a vibe and music selection was great. Great sports and happy hour restaurant. The wings came out hot and crispy. I really enjoyed coming here. Craft beer is absolutely my jam, so this spot is a great choice. Food/Beer: Their beer selection is awesome. I got to try a few things I'd never had and I was thrilled. Will never go back to this establishment again, we walked into and it was so loud we could barely hear each other, no it wasn't packed , apparently just full of loudmouth inconsiderate patrons. Took a good 15 minutes for anyone to ask us if we were thirsty I ordered an old fashion, but first I asked if they could make a good old fashioned. Completely confident in the response I received, I went ahead and ordered it. Well another 15 minutes and I was told there was no Jim Beam and I said Bullit bourbon was fine. The drink came out it had no ice in it, and it was I want to say mostly sweet vermouth, and Manicero cherry liquid, and it was awful. If you don't know how to make something just tell me. My girlfriend got the salad which she liked very much, we ordered a flatbread blackened steak special which was good, except for the fact that maybe three out of the five pieces of steak that were put on it were pure grizzle. I ordered the autumn burger, I asked for it a little pinker than medium and a side of mac & cheese. This burger was so dry, I ordered a side of steak sauce just to dip it in so I could swallow it, mind you this is a $19 hamburger, I ate only half of it because I literally could not eat the other half, took two bites of the mac & cheese which was fine, but at this point I was no longer hungry and I just wanted the check, they did take four dollars off the price of my burger, which was nice but they should've completely removed it from the bill. I would just suggest maybe to go there for one of their many beer selections and maybe some wings, I don't know if those are any good either, but I would never go here again and I would never recommend it to anyone. My rating is going up... this place seems to have gotten their act together with the flavor of their food. Four of us at here on Sat and the food was outstanding. I used my groupon that expires today actually so like always I waited till the last minute to go. For $19 I got a Flight of Beer ($18) and $25 worth of food. We started with pretzel served with grain mustard... my kinda mustard (spicy) and the Artichoke Spread was delicious. My entree was the Andouille Sausage, Peppers & Onions... out of this world good. Hubby had the Blackened Catfish Po' Boy.. (i tried Catfish for the first time and I'm now a fan). My gf had the Smoked Chicken Sandwich... really liked it and her fiance had the Growler Burger and really liked his. We all had the growler fries and everyone loved them. For dessert hubby and I shared the Snickers Pie and my friends shared the Flourless Chocolate Cake (btw those were the only 2 choices for dessert). We both agreed the desserts were way too rich. What happened to this place? My guess is that it's no longer under the original ownership. Great beer selection, decent service and kind of a cozy atmosphere except for all the TVs. They have two big projection screens which have been there since opening but they've added more TVs between them. It's not that big of a place, not sure why they keep adding more screens! The menu which used to feature house-smoked meats and inventive things like bacon-wrapped dates has been dumbed down and is eclectic in a bad way. When a restaurant offers pizza, burgers, tacos, pulled pork sandwiches and other unrelated items you know that they've lost their focus and are trying to offer something for everyone while doing none of it well. The chili made me feel ill -way to greasy and sweet- and the blackened fish was a soggy mess as if it had been poached, not blackened. I wouldn't go back. read more

I had the lobster mac n cheese, which was great, a good portion, unfortunately I can almost never finish standard portion sizes. It was also bingo trivia night which made it even more fun. This place is charming, warm and welcoming. The food is mostly terrific; Thai chicken wings, burgers (many interesting specials including fried oysters, sunnyside up eggs, bacon, blue cheese and much more), nachos, soups and salsas. But the service is a little inattentive, probably due in part to the place being busy and the servers being over extended. Parking is easy and the locations is good, with several different seating options. A plus because, in spite of the nice music and sports on tvs all around, this place isn't too noisy and you can easily converse without shouting. One significant note is that this is a burger specialty place that has no pickles or mushrooms. I mean it's not onions or ketchup, but c'mon folks these are essentials for most pallets. I loved the old Growlers, it was a 5 stars from me. The Philly cheese steak was perfect the Brussels sprouts were incredible, they had a great Tomato bisque soup with grilled cheese, it was literally my favorite place. A few weeks after the pandemic hit they shut down and I was heart broken. I kept stopping by to see if they were open, to my delight I called and someone answered and they said they were the new owners and they were opening back up. I told the owner he should try keeping the same menu and he would have a customer for life, he said they were and they were keeping the same chef. I came in once they reopened to support them, the menu wasn't the same, I didn't hold that against them since they were trying something new, but a lot changed. For $8 you would used to get a large order of Brussels sprouts, now you just get a small cup. They changes the cheese steak to something inedible and removed the tomato bisque soup. I still kept supporting this place, must have gone 20 times since the reopening, I think it was for nostalgia hoping it would get better but kept getting worse. Over the summer they cut their menu in half using the pandemic as an excuse, saying something about being under staffed, while every other restaurant on the area had let their full menu? They recently stopped their brunch which was the last thing I thought was good. Went in for the final time today where they forgot our order, didn't have chili for the nachos, wings over cooked and didn't even apologize or comp us anything for the 50 minute wait for apps. I really hope this place gets better but I lost all hope. I never leave negative reviews but this place ruined which should have been a great opening football Sunday, and a great local place. read more

I found this gem of a pub on Yelp, and since it is one of the few places in Downtown Tuckahoe that stays open later on weeknights, my friend and I decided to meet up here after work. We actually stopped by here on a Tuesday night, just in time for trivia. Trivia was a fun time, and very well organized - compared to a few others that I've been to. As for the food and drink, they have an excellent selection of beers and a pretty decent menu as well! We ordered the buffalo wings and the sliders. With the sliders flight, you to choose a combination of the three types they have on the menu. We decided to go with one of each. The pulled pork and tuckahoe cheese steak were both really good, but the burger left much to be desired. The wings were decent - and the quantity was surprisingly generous. These two items together were plenty for the two of us, although I think we could have easily shared them with one additional person. The servers and hosts were all fantastic and very friendly. I felt very well taken care of, but not overwhelmingly so. Since our first visit, we've been back one other time, just for drinks. Once again, the atmosphere was inviting - even to the very end when we were one of the two couples left at the bar. read more

Good beer selection. Good atmosphere. But that's about it. Service: The service was very slow (although the staff was friendly). First, the guy who greeted us at the door seemed to be too busy to actually sit us down. So we were left there for a few minutes. Next, we were shown to a table that had not been cleared. The drink orders were taken quickly but took some time to arrive. It was just me and a friend but we had to wait more than half hour for a burger and an appetizer. After finishing the meal, we had at least another half hour till our dishes were cleared to our check being settled. Food: The food was terrible and very expensive. Burgers around $15-18. Appetizers above $10. When food arrived, the crab cakes and fries seemed cooked from frozen. My side salad had no dressing at all. The burger and fries had no seasoning at all. But the crab cakes were salty. Definitely not worth the $16 and $18 price tags. Overall, not a good experience. It started great with the drinks but all downhill from there. read more

The only complaint was the over fried calamari, the fair to midland tough pub pretzel and the over fried chicken tenders. The salads although abundant in size lacked originality and flavor. I spent 2 years working on achieving a place on the Wall of Foam which I completed in December 2019. I return to find the new owners have ripped down every name from the wall and abolished the whole thing. This is a slap in the face to the regulars that made Growlers what it is! How could you be so insulting to the people that return to your bistro daily/weekly/etc and support it during this time without even any acknowledgement of the change or a new reward for the loyal customers? What a shame, the new Growlers doesn't deserve our business anymore. read more

Really really solid find. Guys there no their beer and able to make good recommendations. Place smells amazing. Clean, friendly service, even the other patrons in there pretty personable. Went in the afternoon so did lunch as opposed to the bar scene. Wings were great. Not a ton of spice in these which I prefer, but nice flavor and super super crispy which I like. Burger was a good choice. Mixed up the sides which they were more than happy to do to try the Mac and cheese which was popular as well as the sprouts which were awesome. Pulled chicken was only ok. Could have used more chicken on it and a smokier flavor. Dressings didn't do much for the overall package but I was so full by time that came, I obviously didn't care. Took a large group (25 people of all ages) into Growlers as part of a pre-wedding celebration. They took wonderful care of our boisterous group, food came out fast and delicious, beer was cold and also delicious, and we really liked the industrial-chic look of the place as well as the way we could flow indoors or outdoors in the nice weather. My brother met his wife there at a pretty epic Oktoberfest, and Growler's regularly hosts live bands, trivia nights, Ladies Night, and a bunch of other events. Sigh, I was very excited to hear about the reopening of Growlers Beer Bistro. An excited return never felt more strange and confusing. This was one of the very few westchester spots that had a welcoming environment of diverse craft beer enthusiasts. It's unfortunate that it is no longer the hub for foam walls, trivia battles, gaming & the much loved Growler's team. This is in fact a new restaurant that took over the name. The new Growler's has more of an upscale "bistro" approach than a craft beer joint. This is no way slamming the restaurant - The menu is fantastic and carries an array of food and beer options. Their service was dedicated and attentive. If you're a fan of crab cakes, I highly recommend the Sebastian sandwich! Beer flight: We got to pick 5 samples, and it looked like they were about 5oz each. Wish they had more non-IPA choices, but still pretty yummy. Food: Got the hush puppies. I'm not a huge fan in general, but these had jalapeños and chipotle mayo and some other stuff that made them super tasty. Also had the smoked chicken plate, which came with 2 sides. The chicken was seriously smoky and juicy and delicious. Mac n cheese, yum; Growler fries (Parmesan cheese & bacon galore), also yum. Def enough food for 2 people. Wow. There's almost NO FRUITS AND VEGGIES on this menu! Seasonal salad was unavailable, leaving two salad choices. ALL the food was over-salted, almost inedible. Salad was drenched in straight vinegar (not vinaigrette). The hush puppies had NO REAL CORN?! They were made of tough cornmeal. Seriously, frozen corn isn't a huge cost. Remoulade was too spicy for everyone else. The artichoke dip was decent, but honestly I was so hungry, I can't say I would order it again. 3 our of 4 people were disappointed with their food. Which for some reason they have decided to discontinue..... Growlers... If you're listening / reading ....... Please bring back the Veggie Burger, even if only as a special every once in a while....
