Amazing views and winery! We only stopped by almost at closing and after the last tasting hour because we were told there were amazing views. The staff/sommelier were amazing, and came to greet us despite it being closing hour. Instead of turning us away for being closed, they opened their space to give us a small wines tasting and describe the vineyard. We had amazing conversations along with great tasting wine! (Also a dog friendly space) I really appreciate the extra kindness and the staff going out of their way to make it a great visit experience! I would highly highly recommend!! WOW! Langtry knows how to throw a party. We have been to pick-up parties and events at other wineries, but Langtry's Paella Party on April 21 ranks among the best. Delicious and bountiful food from the Paella Guy out of Windsor, neo-flamenco music from Austin and Owens, and, of course, great wine. Love the petit sirah! A very relaxing afternoon. They are justifiably famous for their reds- especially their Cabernet Sauvignon&Petit Verdot. They make a sweet Sauvignon blanc, but go for their reds (Lillie herself was a ginger) One can relax in the tasting room, or enjoy the wine under the wisteria. It's in a remote part of the Bay Area, so it can be quite a drive. It's worth the adventure. read more

Langtry is a hidden gem in Lake County as it is the winery most comparable to those found in Napa, California. I enjoyed the scenery more than the wine, I must admit as everything I tried was a bit on the sweeter side, which I am not a fan of personally. We love this spot so much! We relocated to the area last year and stumbled upon Langtry on one of our house hunting trips. We were immediately blown away by the beautiful views and the serenity you find at Langtry. Knowing that we had such a special place only 20 minutes away helped us make the big move. Not only are the wines and views fantastic but the hospitality is what makes this place truly magical. Both Jose and Scottie are so friendly and approachable. Scottie really knows his wine and the history of the property and is always welcoming and is clearly a favorite of Langtry's repeat guests. We joined the wine club and have found ourselves visiting quite often on the weekends when we just need to take a break. They are doing a lot of work on the property and we are excited to see how the property transforms- while hopefully maintaining that historic charm and character. I visited this winery over the weekend. It is tucked out of the way, far from the heavily trafficked Napa roads. It is about 40 mins north of Calistoga on Hwy. 29, then take a right onto Butts Canyon Rd for another 6 miles. The tasting room is gorgeous, there are picnic tables with views, and lakes galore. The estate is so large (22,000 acres), it has its own appellation. The Lake County Petite Sirah is probably their best wine and has won more awards than any other Petite Sirah in the world. The Chardonnay is good too (not oaky), and the Sauvignon Blanc is good as well. If you have a little extra time, make the trip over the mountain to the Langtry Vineyards. read more

We were staying in Pope Valley for the long weekend, so luckily for us the drive wasn't far at all. Even if it had been, this was worth it! There was only one other couple there when we arrived, so Scotty took us back for a tour and barrel tasting - the Pinot Grigio we tried was amazing, so pineapple forward! We all loved the Cab too - it probably won't be bottled for another year or two, but it's going to be outstanding. Staff was incredible, and the estate was gorgeous even on an overcast winter afternoon. If you have a reason to be nearby, don't skip this. read more

I visited quite a few wineries over a 3-day period and Langtry was my absolute favorite. No, the building itself isn't as fancy as "The Castle" or other estates, but the property is breathtaking. The winery overlooks a huge blue lake and is surrounded by rolling hills. My first thought when pulling up was that wish I could horseback ride through the property! I went with my great friend Lorna who is a frequent visitor. Scotty served us. He took us to the back and allowed us to taste an unfiltered Chardonnay, straight from the barrel and talked to us about how it was made. He was also so kind when answering my questions. Compared to other wineries, Langtry's service seemed so much more personal. Considering price and taste, Langtry had the best wine of all the wineries I visited. I highly recommend their Petit Verdot and Petit Sirah. The less expensive Guenoc label is also a great buy. read more

Fabulous! I live in Hawaii, but was in Sacramento on vacation and really wanted to go to Napa to Langtry...MY FAVORITE WINE EVER!!! I convinced my mom to drive out there with me, and we had the best time. I was so excited to be there, seeing that I'm a #1 fan of the Guenoc Sauvignon Blanc for several years now, and was going to make it to Langtry one of these days. Well that day has come, and I'm going to go back for sure! Not only is the landscape around the vinyard so beautiful, it is just relaxing and quiet. Scotty, the guy running the tasting room was so much fun to talk to and treated me like royalty. When I told him I came from Hawaii and drove all the way out there just to their winery, he took me in the back, and poured me a glass of Guenoc Sauvignon Blanc straight out of the steel drum that was going to be bottled the next day!!! Amazing!!! So delicious!!! Best experience ever! After I bought all my Guenoc & Langtry souvineers, I left the happiest camper ever! Sadly, I had to ship my wine home to Hawaii via USPS, and the 2006 Meritage I purchased broke. No bueno!!!! At least I still have my Langtry Marsanne Day bottle of wine left. I'm just afraid to drink it, because I won't be able to get anymore while I'm in Hawaii. I will go back, and I'll bring my husband next time! read more

This was my Second visit to Langtry Estates and Winery and was even better than the first! The setting is exquisite. The wine is equaled to the setting. My fave is the 2007 Cab. Stunning. Jose, the Tasting Room Manager is a sheer delight. He was a perfect host, went above and beyond to ensure we had a special experience. We went to the back of the valley property, slowly and respectfully. You can see a cinder cone outcropping and a beautiful old estate home from the main road. No problems to take a quick look and not bother anyone. Be sure to read up about the history of Lilli Langtry on the internet. Bring a picnic and enjoy the picnic tables on the top of the hill with a view of the lake across the road. The wine is very good here and they have a very well run operation. It's never super busy so the tasters can take care of you like you have a private reservation. And lastly, I will point out that the drive is beautiful by way of Pope Valley Road. Yeah, there's a fire that went through there recently. But even that is eerily beautiful. read more
