Not sure how I haven't reviewed this place considering the amount of time I spend here with friends. I love this bar, the staff and the food from Valentina's Pizza. They added a garage door a few years back that makes the place a lot cooler in temperature than it used to be. My grandpa loved the pizza so much here that he requests to come back in for lunch whenever he is on island. Get the rocket it's his favorite! I'm so very happy that I was finally able to try this place out. On multiple occasions had stopped on by to check it out. Parking was a little tight - but was still able to do some scouting. Just needed to verify that it was Family Friendly and also there was some food. Luckily for me they had some Pizza. One afternoon the family was looking for a late afternoon pit stop / snack. I suggested Lanikai Brewing and we sat down to a wonderful little break. Was very relieved to find out just how family friendly Lankai Brews is. There were other people with their kids - which certainly made for a very chill atmosphere. We sat down at one of the tables in the back and ordered a Pizza and of course a couple of beers for my wife and I. Service was very friendly - especially to newbies who couldn't really figure out what type of food they wanted. The Pizza was excellent - first time we stopped by we had the Pesto Pepperoni Pizza with Spicy Honey Sauce. We had the sauce on the side - but it was certainly delicious. As for the Beers everything I tried I generally liked - have had a couple of their IPAs - and even a Barley Wine they had on Tap. Totally great place to take the family for a little break. I would however recommend to bring some games for the kids. We ended up playing Heads Up on my iPhone to keep everyone entertained. This place is more than worth a stop. read more

I love the location, structure and look of this brewery a lot but honestly, the employee working made my experience pretty lame. The guy already seemed annoyed and irritated for some reason? The pizza is good with some pretty custom and localized flavors, I personally vouch for the pepperoni, salami and Italian sausage pizza. My mom and I decided to stop in while we were out and about in Kailua. It's not as big as some breweries I've been to but the vibe is really nice and you can seat yourself. There isn't much outdoor seating, only a few that sit 2 people. I did see one couple with their dog so I'm not too sure if it's dog friendly really. A nice gentleman came to get our orders for drinks and food. I started off with the only sour they had and it was pretty good - very light and refreshing. My mom got a flight of their most popular beers and she liked them. I didn't realize at first that the pizza is out of a little oven in a food truck but it was really good! The bees knees pizza was so good and the other pizza was basically a standard pepperoni. I also got one of their drink specials which had a dark rum floater on top. Giving two stars to a brewpub goes against my grain but ... There's not a comfortable seat in the house. The bar, which seats six, is particularly bad seating where your knees don't have enough room. The booths are back-killers; the high top stools not much better. Just nowhere for me to comfortably drink beer. We visited a number of breweries on the island, but Lanikai was my favorite. The tropical, friendly vibe and incredible beers took me back to my solo backpacking days through northern Australia. The people were laid back, the pizza was bomb, and the beer was refreshing. Lanikai is the perfect spot to wind down after a long day, the open façade offering a warm breeze and the staff offering warm smiles. I had one of my most favorite beers of the trip at Lanikai: the Waialua Hawaiian Wild Ale Collab with Imperial Yeast. I also loved the Pillbox porter, which was smooth and tasty, and the lemongrass saison, which is a quintessential Hawaiian flavor. Definitely the most creative and experimental Hawaiian brewery I have come across with the few that I have tried. Mission To Mars. This brewery (along with NASA) apparently captured yeast 70,000 feet above earth and Hawaii using a ER-2 aircraft. The yeast was then made their UFO (Unidentified Fermenting Object) series in collaboration with Brothers Cascadia in Vancouver, Washington. The label art in my picture is of ER-2 pilot Extreme Ross as he flew threw the Northern Lights! Whew! If you ask me you can't get much more creative or experimental than that so the fact that this brewery had all of this come together is worthy of five stars and the story behind the beer series and the Mission To Mars beer will be etched in memory for a very, very long time. But onto the beer! The Mission To Mars is described as an Interplanetary Ale. Untappd has it categorized as a Wild Ale with it's fruity, funky and stone fruit flavors it indeed makes the beer very unusual from what you would see at most breweries which is what I'm always looking for. Light and crisp in body after reading the history of the beer on the side of the can one gets the impression that it has indeed has a bit of the coldness and wildness of space perfectly harnessed into a beer. Great brewery, perfect spot after a dip in the ocean! This place is a little hard to find, and even harder to park. There didn't seem to be a designated parking area, and we made several turns before getting a spot right along the curb. Oct. 16, 2025 Not really open till 10 PM. Drove about an hour knowing we'd get there late, after our Luau. Arrived at 9:50 PM. Brewery hopping is kinda of our thing. Been to 800+ breweries around the country in the last 5 years. We have over 150 glass growlers, over 50 Aluminum growlers, and generally buy a lot of swag. This place has swag. We figured we could get maybe a small pour, buy some swag and be out by 10 PM if we had to. Not our best idea, but we are leaving back to the mainland in a little over a day. Our schedule was tight. Just disappointed as we walked in the door, the first thing we heard directed at us was: "We already had last call." So, we turned around and left empty handed. A "Hi" or "Sorry" (of some sort) would have sufficed, as it was our bad, but in all of our brewery travels, this was the worst we have ever had, walking in the door. They had a picture of a nice doubled walled aluminum growler (on Yelp) I wanted to add to the collection. I don't know if they actually had one, but with that kind of welcome I kind of glanced over there swag and decided I would save my C-Note+ for the next brewery find. I can't really give any opinion as to the beer or food, obviously. The service, well, none really. My advice, don't get there late, like me (again, my bad). My husband always visits Lanikai Brewing when we're in Kailua. I'm not a beer drinker so I usually pass. While out running errands, we decided to stop in. They have really amped up their mixed drink selection. I had a couple of their "The Escape". Two kinds of rum with coconut cream. I will no longer be my husband dd for Lanikai. We sat inside and ordered some beers which tasted pretty good but came in little plastic cups! UGG this has become a big pet peeve over time -- I just think a draft should be served in a glass, preferably a super chilled glass. The server girl we had was friendly, but confused, and asked us multiple times what we'd ordered. My guy and I split a breakfast sandwich which tasted great!! Fresh arugula, balsamic drizzle, fresh cherry tomato... pesto I think too. It came with tangy salty crispy chips that were awesome. My tip is put the chips inside the sandwich for extra crunch. Great beers! They were celebrating their 10th Anniversary when we were there this year (the shirts say est. 2015 so the math is confusing but we rolled with it). Great atmosphere and great beer selection. They offer 3oz pours so you try a few before making up your mind. They also have a seltzer on the menu which is a nice alternative if your aren't a fan of beer. I tried the seltzer which was really light and refreshing. I also sampled a sour which I really enjoyed. It wasn't too sour which makes it easier to drink more than one which can be tricky with sours. They also offered pizza. I believe it was from a food truck right outside. The pizzas were Neapolitan style personal size. If you are hungry you could likely eat a whole one on your own. The also offered breadsticks which went really well with the beer. read more

This is a casual easy going place with good food and drink. It's in a very industrial area which means your going to be looking for street parking. Drink are good and served quickly. Love how this place has evolved and yet stayed the same to the same humble roots when it just opened. Note to self: Next time make sure you don't wait three years until you write a 5 star review for this place. We came here the first time when we were staying in Kailua. Loved it so much, we came 3x in a week. We also went to Maui brewing and tbh, that place looked nice but the beers there sucked. (Maybe except the porter) So if you want the best beers, come here. Loved that you can get a variety of styles here. Saisons, IPAs, but sadly no stouts. Their Pillbox Porter is the closest to dark I've had here which is fabulous. Route 70 is terrific as well. I believe these two flavors have been here since I can remember. They also have guest taps here (sadly no stouts when I was here but I believe that's the only time I've heard they had it), but I never get them because why are you not drinking local when coming to a place like this? The girls over the counter are super helpful. I do have to say when I came this year, the beers did not taste quite as good as I had remembered it three years ago. But service is still fabulous here and they usually have a food truck of some food company nearby to satisfy your hunger as well. Definitely more people coming here now, which I guess is a good thing. We usually try parking on the street because their lot is ridiculously small. I think they share it with a place that fixes cars and a judo studio. So the next time after coming to Lanikai beach, stop by here and get a few pints with some grub in your slippahs. I've seen the place for years but decided to try it for the first time on 3/30/25 for dinner. Had almost no wait time for our table for a party of 5 and and put in our order shortly after. After getting our drinks we let the waitress know that one of the virgin mixes tasted bad and didn't want it. She took it back no problem. We got our pupus followed by our pizzas. Food was delicious and we ordered another salad, which took another 30 minutes and numerous request to check on it, after we finished our meals. At one point the server said that when she asked for the kitchen to expedite after 20 minutes, she return to it being canceled. Some people in our party still wanted the salad so we still waited for it. After it came, the Ceasar salad didn't have a normal romaine that is associated with a Cesar but mixed greens of which alot of the salad was old. After that we asked for our check to leave and to our surprise the waitress still had charged us for the virgin drink.
