Great spot - it's in a very touristy area of Waikiki, but you won't find one in your homestate, so it is the obvious choice over Cheesecake Factory across the street. We had OMG Hazy IPAs and a "Hunter" pizza topped with guava bbq pork, pineapple, jalapenos, & red onion. It was bomb - a perfect Hawaiian pizza. Even late-ish on a weeknight, it was packed with families and big groups, but there was no wait and our server was prompt and efficient. My only nits to pick are the hidden elevator (we didn't notice they had one till after we walked up like 50 flights of stairs) and the metal chairs are soooo loud on the concrete floor. Food was good here. We came for a wedding dinner rehearsal and had a large group. They setup tables for us in the back and we had plenty of room for our event. The couple had placed a pre-order for all the food which was super easy because we only had to worry about ordering drinks. There were ton of options like nachos, wings, and pizza. Plenty of options and huge portion sizes. The staff was super nice and was very helpful. They always came around refilling our drinks and putting in new orders with the bartender. One of our favorite visits was during the Spam Jam Festival--they had spam baos that were so good paired with their beers. We've also tried their pizza before, which is always a good choice. This time, we just came for one round of drinks. I wanted to try the Pineapple Mana Wheat, but it was already sold out by the time we got there around 6PM (we had just come from the Waikiki Makers Market). I ended up getting something similar--a Pineapple Chi Chi, which was refreshing and hit the spot. My husband got the Big Swell IPA, which he enjoyed. After consuming my weight in Mai Tai cocktails, I wandered into Maui Brewing in search of an excellent IPA and a lite lunch. Maui Brewing definitely earned this 5-star review. Do not get put off by having to climb the "never-ending" flight of stairs to access the brew pub; there is an elevator. There is a large bar area, an outside patio, and an adjacent dining/drinking area next to the Outrigger Hotel. Side bar: There seems to be a gazillion Outrigger Hotels on or near the strip. They do have an impressive craft beer menu, some guest taps, and a full complement of high-octane spirits. I was initially disappointed that their Big Swell IPA was tapped out. My second choice, the Overboard IPA, was a great 2nd choice. This is a typical IPA with a dry finish. During lunch, I ordered the Bikini Blonde. This is an all-day lite but refreshing beer with a crisp finish. I ordered the seared ahi salad for lunch. This exceeded my expectations. The generous portion of ahi was seared perfectly. The ahi was accompanied by an egg, avocado, radish, Okinawan sweet potato, furikake goat cheese, and drizzled with Bikini Blonde-cilantro vinaigrette. Deliciouso! There are big screen TVs available if you wish to catch a game. Service was excellent at the bar, and the bartenders knew their beer and provided great guidance. Amazing selection of beer and great vibes all around. I am a fruit beer person, so having pineapple, coconut, and tropical fruit forward drinks are my favorite. I had the huli huli wings this time. So good. I love the sauce. The wings have a nice crispness and they give you a nice portion. The ranch was good and I like the slaw. One child had a meat pizza, it was very flavorful and delicious. You cannot go wrong with the wings or the pizza here. On the other hand, my husband's burger was not very memorable. It was small and fries were extra. Not sure about last time, but why is a burger an a la carte item? It did not have the advertised pineapple flavor. It could have used more sauce and perhaps a slice of pineapple and not just the pineapple jam. We had a better burger in a food court nearby. I came to this Maui Brewing for a happy hour // kickoff networking event for the conference I was in town for. The local club had reserved a large portion of the outside patio for us - which was nice for the sheer number of attendees. Rooftop + patio = amazing views. Pizza had been pre-ordered and continued to come out fairly regularly as soon as a few were eaten. That was much appreciated and I'm a big fan of thin crust pizza with good undercarriage (#Barstool). There were a variety of pizzas ordered which made it enjoyable to have a few different slices. The best was their supreme-style and simple cheese. The pizza with jalapeños was super spicy. Because it's a craft brewery ofc I'm going to get a flight. I didn't have a menu in front of me so I went off our server's reco's- Pineapple Mana, Mango Sticky, OMG & Lime Lager. These are pretty hefty sample pours! We get them on the mainland but there's nothing like a fresh draft straight from the keg. My fave was the Pineapple Mana, with the Lime Lager coming in a close second. Unfortunately the service was fairly bad, in observation and experience. The restaurant had ONE dedicated server to our large group, whereas 2 or 3 would have been better. There were a couple of drink / food runners, but the server couldn't keep up - I saw him constantly getting pulled in all directions.
