We ate here on a Friday night during a weekend visit to Tulsa. It was close to our hotel. I think about Thai restaurants as being not risky in terms of being disappointing but having a steep upside when you find a really good one. Lanna Thai proved to be the latter. While waiting in line to be seated, I noticed a plaque on the wall proclaiming that they were picked for a food magazine list of the top 50 restaurants in the USA. They lived up to that billing. I ordered my standard comparison dish for Thai restaurants -- one of the curries. In this case, it was red curry with chicken. Everything about it was delicious -- the sticky rice, the delicate pieces of chicken, the still slightly crisp vegetables, and the generous serving of coconut milk seasoned with curry paste. I ordered spice level 3 out of 5. It was close to overpowering for the first 2 bites, but then my palate adjusted. It didn't lose its heat when I finished it at home a few days later. We were taken care of well by our server, and we enjoyed dining in the split-level dining room. The owners made an interesting choice by preserving the original room layout instead of completing remodeling after they bought the building from the previous owners. We had fun during our meal wondering what restaurant(s) occupied this building before Lanna Thai. Judging by the full dining room on a Friday night, Lanna Thai won't be giving up this space any time soon. read more

I really don't like to leave low reviews. This place is highly liked so we wanted to try it. When walked in, I wanted to leave. I didn't like the feel of the place. And then being sat in a chair with a tied on cloth cushion kinda done me in. I felt like how do I know these are clean. They just gross me out. Lanna Thai is hands down, the BEST Thai food in the Tulsa area! We have always enjoyed each and every dish we have ordered here. My husband and I have tried several items on the menu, and we tend to repeat our favorite dish- the Thai red curry. I like to have pineapples and plenty of basil/cilantro in mine! Food quality has deteriorated; more significantly, extremely rude service to our party of 5. When we entered the restaurant, we were told by the hostess that the kitchen will close in 21 min, but the restaurant will remain open. Within the next 5 min (after we ordered the appetizer), we were told 3 additional times that the kitchen will close soon. When she brought the 6 dishes out to our table, the lady told us in a harsh manner, "I will give you 5 minutes to finish". So my review has been removed once- let's try this again... This use to be my favorite Thai restaurant until the last time I ate here. The food is top notch and the atmosphere is really cool. It's in an old beer brewery. They have the best summer rolls of anywhere I've ever tried. Their dumplings steamed are amazing. I always get one of their curries. The last time I was in here I got the curry that I always get which is amazing. I believe it's the number 55... unsure. Anyway, I asked for there to be pineapple added to the dish. I was told of a $2 up charge. No big deal. My food arrived. No pineapple. Not a biggie. I asked the server for pineapple since I had ordered it and he proceeded to argue w me that I hadn't when I could tell him how he told me it was $2 extra. He then Comes back to my table, with another server. Argues about how my food did not have pineapples w the other server or chef (unsure) and then FINALLY brings a side of pineapples. I'm very disappointed with the service it says on their doors that hours of operation until 10pm but at 9pm their doors are closed. They don't answer the phone calls starting 9pm. I came in around 9:25p.m to do a carry out order cuz I called them like 10 times and nobody answered and the doors were locked. I tried knocking but nobody came up to me. I've been a customer here for a while now and love to support small local businesses instead of big chain restaurants. This is very small of you guys not to answer the phone calls and lock the doors so nobody can come in. If you take carry out order till 9:45 and your dine in until 9:30 at least keep the doors open so customers can come in to do their order. Very disappointed with your service. This is not a first time happening. That's a constantly thing because I nearly call every day to do an order with them and this happens all the times. I am Thai and this is the place I come when I crave close-to-authentic Thai dish with Thai spice level. The owner is Thai and I appreciate his hospitality. The service here is awesome, and you can ask your dishes to be cooked any way you'd like. I was visiting Tulsa and was craving some Thai food and I stumbled across this place on Yelp. It had pretty good reviews so I was like why not try it out. It wasn't far from where I was staying at either. I wasn't super hungry so I decided to get the kids fried rice. As I was looking at the menu I realized it's a little different from the usual Thai menu items you find in dallas. Some of the food was also a little over priced in my opinion. The kids fried rice is a pretty good portion size though and it also comes with a side soup. The soul isn't that great tho. They don't have the kids fried rice spicy so if you want it spicy you have to tell them. I was excepting the rice to taste like the fried rice you find at most other Thai places but it had a different taste to it. I felt like it tasted more like Chinese fried rice than Thai fried rice, if that makes sense? Maybe I'll try something else if I'm ever in town but honestly I wasn't too impressed. read more

The only place I'll go for Great Thai food I always love coming here, being Asian- it's like going to Nanai's house and being comforted with great food. Don't like to post a negative review, but. Had lunch at 2PM. They were not that busy, service was nonexistent, food we asked for, complied wrong, felt rushed. I asked for a glass of wine, got it at 2:47 PM, and was asked to leave at 3:00. Dang. This is one of the nicest Thai restaurants I have ever been to. The large menu is almost as big as it's venue. High ceilings and clean/ open space host booth and table seating for any party size. The decor is authentic -not tacky and there is a stage... you can bet I'll be there for when something happens on that stage! The food is incredible and made fresh. Last time we were there we started with the Spring Rolls. Every bite was crisp and flavorful -but only 2 come out with an order... which is probably for the best. For my main entree, I had the Praram Long-Song which consisted of steamed chicken on a bed of steamed carrots, broccoli and bean sprouts topped with a coconut-curry peanut sauce. I subbed the rice for a side of thai noodles and it will be hard for me try anything else. The flavor was phenomenally unique and the portion size was perfect. I felt healthy and full when I left! I have heard a lot of great things about this place. This place has a lot going for it. It has great decor, atmosphere, and service. The food and price is not great. I had a red curry dish, it was overpowered by bamboo shoots, and the chicken was tough, dry, and over cooked. The lunch portion was perfect! The prices were very high if you compare them to other Thai restaurants in Tulsa. Most Thai restaurants are not fancy, but they they have great food at a great price. This place is the opposite, great atmosphere and decor, but just average food at a high price. All that said I really want to try the rest of the menu, and I will be back. One of my favorite Thai restaurant in Tulsa. The waiter/waitress is attentive and always came around to make sure we didn't need anything else and to clear off our empty dishes. They also make good suggestions on what to order if you're on the fence or don't know what to order. The food is great. I always order a curry dish every time i come here. When ordering the curry, you have the option to pick your spice level which range from 1-5. I always go with 5. I can take a lot of heat so a level 5 spice is not that spicy to me. All the other dishes that I've tried here are all great and flavorful. I have been here several times and didn't realize i never left a review. I picked up some Lanna Thai for a Saturday night dinner "out" (takeout), and it did not disappoint. Contrary to most spring rolls, Lanna's contains chicken not pork, along with the usual veggies and glass noodles. Fried crispy but never too oily, the rolls went along great with their sweet chili dipping sauce. Being a man of habit, I also ordered my usual chicken pad thai. It too was very solid: ideal amount of spice (a true medium), and rich flavors. The softness of the noodles are nicely balanced by the crunch beansprouts and peanuts.
