I don't remember the last time I had authentic Lao food. I was so happy eating here. I was able to introduce foods to my husband that he's never tried before. It was pretty hot in the restaurant, and there wasn't too many people inside so it was still pretty quiet. There was plenty of parking outside. The service was great, and they were constantly refilling our waters. Thankfully because the food could get pretty spicy. The flavor of the food was ON POINT! We ended up finishing our leftovers that night. If you're hungover from drinking I highly recommend the Kao Piak w/ crispy pork. The Nam Kao was a great choice too if you don't mind a crunchy texture with your rice. Speaking of rice- the sticky rice is enough for ONE person. So order more! 10/10 recommend this place to anyone and everyone. This place is going to be a MUST everytime we visit. read more

This is one of the best food experiences I had during my Vegas visit. The restaurant is super casual and authentic. I never had khaopiek sen before, but I had always wanted to try it. The broth was very clean tasting, the noodles had the perfect chew, and the crispy pork was flavorful. I expected it to be a bit thicker but it still tasted really good. I also had to get the Lao papaya salad (medium hot) which had fresh, crisp green papaya and a good funky padaek. The beef jerky is a bit more fatty than I am used to but I loved every single bite of it. If I ever make it back to Vegas, I'll have to make my way back to Lao Kitchen. read more

Just discovered this little gem in Las Vegas. LAO KITCHEN is uber DELICIOUS!!! We had the butterfly tea to drink and ordered 4 dishes: Nam Khao, Larb Seen Dip, Thum Mak Hoong, and Fried Tilapia. My favorites were the Nam Khao - which is the crispy rice dish served with lettuce cups. It was full of flavor, I love the herbs and spices they use for this dish. Also loved the Fried Tilapia topped with fried garlic. We ate that with the sticky rice. Laos style papaya salad is darker and even SPICIER than Thai style, so don't underestimate their spice! The food as well as the service were excellent. I particularly liked the steamed salmon with loads of fresh dill (mok pa). The beef & trip salad ( beef larb) had tons of flavor as well as lots of fresh herbs which is how I like my larb. You can't go wrong with pork belly deep fried & dipped in lemon ginger sauce. My friends and I had came here for brunch one weekend after she had found this place recently. I had never knew of such a place to exist so close to my house so i was interested to try. Also because i've never had Laotian food either. Located west of Desert Breeze park, it sits in the corner of a complex with Zaytoon, Bomb Tacos, Other Mamas. We had came a bit earlier, around 11am so it wasn't THAT busy yet but it got busy quick soon after we arrived. We had looked at the menu before hand and wanted to try the "Kao Poon Nam Seen" that had Vermicelli, pork blood cube, sliced beef, carrot, cabbage, green onion, cilantro, bean sprout, bamboo BUT the waitress said it's the MOST POPULAR and sold out the night before... SAD FACE ! Wanted to try a "salad" but had NO idea which one to try.. they all looked like just a "pile" of stuff HAHA (sorry for the description) We ended up trying a few other things, one was tried by a mutual friend, who said this restaurants stuff is pretty "authentic". Seen Savanh - Lao beef jerky style served w/ soy sauce and sticky rice Wait.. soy sauce? where? Lol The beef jerky marinated in something probably along the lines of fish sauce, lemon grass served w/ sticky rice served in a sandwich bag, inside of a bamboo cup. Yep. beef jerky. LOL. Kao Piek Chicken - Homemade rice noodle, pork blood cube, fried garlic, morning glory, green onion, cilantro, chicken mmm fried garlic... hey pork blood ! This was pretty decent overall. Legit like a laotian version of chicken noodle soup. Not much of a fan of their homemade rice noodles, bit soft for my preference for the thickness. Thai red curry soup base. I tried a spoon of it and tasted pretty decent. Highly recommend this dish! PAD KA PAOW- our second favorite dish. Flavorful, refreshing and hearty. Can't go wrong with this one. STIR FRY CHINESE MORNING GLORY- the garlic flavor just takes this dish to another level. Wished that the pork was fried in this one instead of boiled but the vegetable was too delectable. A favorite for sure! CHICKEN SOUP - I'm not sure exactly what the name of the soup was but the chicken soup broth that was similar to Tom Yum was even better than expected and everyone in our group raved about how great it was. LAO PAPAYA SALAD - if you like the fermented taste, then this will be your go to. Otherwise, pass on this one. My husband and I decided to try this place after I seen reviews on yelp. When you walk into the restaurant it does seem small BUT if you turn to the right, you will see their actual dining area. We were greeted immediately when we walked in. We waited about a minute to be seated. When we were seated we waited a couple minutes to receive a menu. Everything looked good. We settled for the salmon amok, crab fried rice and sticky rice. Food was prepared pretty quick. We waited for about 15-20 minutes. The crab fried rice had a lot of crab and the flavor was amazing. We like to try different cuisines and although we've had Laotian food at another restaurant here in Las Vegas in the past, today was our first time to have lunch at Lao Kitchen. We brought our friend along because she had never had Laotian food... but we were all unhappy and turned off with the food and I will be apologizing for this bad big mistake of a recommendation for a very long time. The only good thing we had were the chicken potstickers. It was downhill after that. We had the No. 7 glass noodle soup (it was tasty but the meatballs were chewy, could only eat a third of the bowl), the Mok Pah Salmon (very spicy), and the Crying Tiger (couldn't eat the meat -- they were the worst cuts of beef.... ended up spitting out most of it and coudn't finish the rest). We had leftovers but the food was so bad, it wasn't worth taking home anything. Nothing special about the service. The restaurant looks like it definitely needs a makeover. The bathroom was also dirty, just gross. We ended up just hurrying to get out and have coffee and dessert somewhere else just to leave the unpleasantness behind. Sadly, this experience was a waste of time and $$ and made us give up on Laotian food forever. read more

We ordered Lao papaya salad, crispy rice with nem (nem khao), larb with chicken, and noodles with curry and coconut milk called "mee ga thi". Everything was spot on with Lao flavors and my wife who is Lao totally loved. We talked to 2 young ladies who were the waitstaff and they are Thai. We found out the place was opened a yr ago and the owners are Lao. On the way out, we stopped by the kitchen compliment them on how yummy all the entrees were. Such nice young people, I hope they will continue to do well and keep the place open because we would love to come back again in the future! We loved the food! The back hallway and bathroom seem a little disorganized like most asian restaurants where they don't really take the time out to make things look nice and organized and in terms of esthetics. Maybe if they spend some time fixing things up, turning things around to look better, it would help. No one wants to see a dirty, disorganized hallway or bathrooms in restaurants. read more
