Lao Sze Chuan has definitely added something special to the 901. Great food, great atmosphere, and a really nice ambiance overall. We visited about a month after their grand opening and they absolutely did not disappoint. The duck is a must-try. Crispy, flavorful, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The fried rice was another standout for us -- simple but packed with flavor and done right. One thing I also liked was the setup of their private party rooms. They have two separate rooms that can either be combined for larger gatherings or kept separate for smaller events, which is a really nice touch. Overall, a solid addition to the Memphis food scene and definitely worth checking out if you're craving good Chinese food in a nicer dining atmosphere. read more

I could have sworn I visited the SW Houston location of this Chicago-based chain, but I guess I didn't. Anyway, this Sichuan restaurant is located in several US states and cities now and is a pretty good place to go for semi-authentic Sichuan cuisine with an American flare and definite American music playing in the background. Inside this location is an upscale dark art deco theme with lots of blacks and gold. We ordered the Peking duck soup and Mongolian beef tenderloin (spicy). Not many items but we were in a hurry due to a full day of events planned. Overall, we had a pretty good experience with this quick meal before visiting several local tourist destinations. The crystal grotto is a short drive from here, which is why I even ended up on this side of town. The mongoloan beef was not spicy at all, even though I had asked for the chef to make it spicy. The duck soup really doesn't have that many pieces of duck in it either. Paying the check took quite some time, not sure why. The restaurant was not that busy but our server sort of disappeared on us for a while there. read more

Excellent food & great service! I love the lunch bento boxes. Such a great variety of options and nice serving sizes. Everything we ordered was delicious and perfectly prepared. The crispy lemon shrimp is my favorite! It reminds me of honey walnut shrimp but much better. The lemon flavor isn't too much. It's just right! I was really excited to try this new restaurant in the area and was sadly disappointed in the quality of the food. I wanted to try some basic options which always tells me the quality of the place. I placed a pick up order, the staff was friendly and walked me through their menu. And great interaction upon pick up. The space is beautifully decorated and it appears to be a great place to dine in for an experience. However for me the food was not that great. The orange chicken was tough to chew , the noodles did not have a lot of flavor a little bland for my taste and the fried rice was pretty good, the cook made it too spicy when I requested mild spice. read more

I always keep my expectations low for restaurants with a lot of hype. This is a new one but I have been hearing a lot about it in a short time. So a friend and I decided to meet here for lunch. I was kinda expecting a crowd but it was pretty normal. I ordered the crispy shrimp w/ lemon sauce and he got orange chicken. We both were instantly impressed with the flavor. Beautiful interior! Great place for a date night, girls night, business event, and more. The food hold ups to the hype. It's not just a place that looks great but also tastes even better! Nick was my sever and he was phenomenal! The Mongolian beef tenderloin, pork & duck fried rice, and the boiled sole fish in spicy szechuan sauce were amazing. We also got the egg drop soup, hot & sour soup, and wonton soup. All great too! Was more true to what thy should be (not the super yellow thick-egged egg drop soup for an example). Clean and new; super Authentic eatery that originated in Chicago Chinatown and is the new go to for spicy and authentic Szechuan cuisine. More choices, more value and soooo good. I wanted to love it but I didn't. I stopped by Friday evening just before dinner around 5p. I was greeted immediately walking in and was seated. The establishment is beautiful and inviting and was not crowded so I was surprised it took my server 16 whole minutes to come over. While reviewing the menu there were things I wanted to try but was really unsure what was included. My server was unable to clearly explain to me a couple of dishes so I stuck with what I knew. Egg drop soup was good but sweet and that was different. Pork dumplings were good and the combo fried rice that included pork, beef, shrimp, veggies and lamb I think. I asked for spicy but it was very bland. I didn't taste any of the bold spicy flavors promoted for these dishes. I added chili oil for a hint of flavor but otherwise this place was just ok but definitely check them out! read more

I went with some friends for dinner. We had the 1/2 Peking Duck that came with a duck broth soup that was delicious. Had steamed soup dumplings, bows, pea plant, and spicy tofu. Everything was good. The decor was nice but when it's crowded, it hard to hear your friends when you are talking. Love the motion Lazy Susan that ensures everyone can get reach the dishes. The service was fast and efficient. Smart concept to have the water carafe on the table so they don't have to wait for water refills. We will definitely dine again. read more

First off, ambience was great, and Tiffany was the first person to grab my attention at the door as she eagerly helped me secure a table for me and my family and friends. I appreciated her help and her kind demeanor. All the staff was very pleasant. Finally, if you like Americanized Chinese food, this is like that but the kind that you eat while holding up your pinky. Food was delicious... for context I got the General Tso's chicken with white rice and some egg rolls for the appetizer. The portions are fairly generous, and unless you are a bodybuilder, I would say that a meal and a single appetizer would fill most people up. Will definitely be going again.
