We place bets on how long it will take for our server to acknowledge us, whether we'll get a greeting or just a silent stare, if he will consider refilling or even giving us a drink, and what level of mild-to-moderate hostility we'll experience that evening. It's honestly become part of the charm. Dinner and a show. To his credit, this server is consistent. In the three years we've lived in Central Oregon, I'm fairly certain he is the only server we've ever seen there. Ever. And his attitude has been consistent. Which raises questions... but also a bit of admiration for his commitment to the bit. All jokes aside, if he hates being a server this much, it might be time for a career pivot.
