I flew out to Oregon to attend my mother's funeral. This may possibly be the very last time I'm ever in Prineville Oregon, as I have no other reason to go there again. Following the service, my brother, my daughter, and a few other people decided to meet up for some food. What we chose was Bonito Feast, a Japanese food establishment right in the heart of town. Now, I've tried a lot of places in Prineville, some were really good, and others, not so much, but it all seems to follow the same theme, either pizza, Mexican, or basically a slice of Americana, such as burgers or barbecue. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised to see something that broke the mold. But the question in the back of my mind was "in a town like this, how good could this really be?" And you know, I have seafood allergies, so my experience with Japanese cuisine is limited to basically teriyaki and hibachi. Upon entering the establishment, it appeared to be semi traditional, with low lighting and Asian decor, nice and quiet, yet busy enough to be inviting. The servers were friendly, inviting and accommodating, immediately seating us and recommending the specials for the day without missing a beat. They took our drink order, and served us pretty quickly, demonstrating a high commitment to good customer service! After looking over the menu, I decided to go with the chicken teriyaki plate, which was fine with me, because I love good teriyaki, and I don't have it all that often, which kind of makes it a treat. After getting our entire group's order, we sat and conversed quietly, waiting for our food. Our servers were present, but not overly invasive the way servers can tend to be when filling the needs of a group. It wasn't long until the food arrived, and both the presentation and quality of the entrees were far beyond what I expected for Prineville. My chicken teriyaki was absolutely delicious, with a sauce that wasn't overly sweet, but balanced just right. The chicken had a slightly smoky taste, which is always appreciated, but wasn't charred at the ends. The rice was nice, honestly though, you have to be a pretty bad cook to screw up rice. And the steamed vegetables were very flavorful. This was overall a great experience, and a good way to wind down after the events earlier in the day. I found this place to be a bright spot in Prineville, one of the better places I've eaten there. If you find yourself in that town and are looking for something out of the ordinary, Bonito Feast does not disappoint.

The Captain and miso soup were the highlight of the meal. Wasn't thrilled with everything else and service also wasn't very warm (a gentleman served us). Was somewhat bright in there for my taste, but they had plenty of seating and did a good job seating patrons where they were spaced out nicely. May go back again, but not any time soon.

I read the reviews for Bonito Feast on yelp and decided to give it a try. I haven't been able to find my go to Sushi restaurant in Central Oregon yet. Super cute restaurant, clean, accent walls, beers on tap. Plenty of space. Our food was PERFECT! Presented well, lots of flavor and a bit different than what I have found a similar restaurants. Portion sizes were very fair. I couldn't finish all my order but my husband made sure there were no left overs. I high recommend Bonito Feast!

All I can say is WOW! Came from Portland to spend the weekend with mom. And she suggested this place for dinner. Now when I think eating out in Prineville, I think steak. But this was amazing. Very creative rolls and tasted so good. I would highly recommend a visit here

Food and service is always excellent. I am glad they are here. Prineville could do with some better places to dine.

Excellent service for lunch. I had a bento box rather than sushi. Salmon teriyaki and tempura veges. Very tasty and nicely cooked

I have enjoyed everything I've tried here except for the Chashu Ramen, which wasn't necessarily bad but not good enough that I would order it again. As someone who is new to the world of sushi and has never been much of a seafood eater I have enjoyed and the edamame and potstickers as appetizers and my favorite rolls are the Monster Roll and Dragon Roll. Also if you're not that big into seafood they even have a roll with katsu chicken called the Kelso Roll!

When I wanted sushi, there were about 50 top quality sushi places I could go to within five miles of my house. They all had exceptional quality. They all offered all you can eat, with everything freshly prepared to order, for about $30. That is what is referred to as "liquidity". At Sora Sushi, you wait half an hour for a few pieces of nigiri. Everything is wildly overpriced, mediocre quality. But you pay it. Because you're in Central Oregon and that's all there is. Two stars might be a tad harsh, they didn't poison me or anything. But just like everything else here, you pay a mountain tax in quality, price, and service. There are better sushi options around, but to be fair, they are even more overpriced. The problem isn't Sora. Sora is a symptom. Save your money and just eat at home.

We ordered family style I ordered the orange chicken which was good and flavorful. The Seafood tofu soup was very good and tasty with a lot of vegetables and seafood and tofu. The appetizer platter was good and gave a good selection of their appetizers, so if you enjoy an appetizer you could order more. The fried spring rolls came out hot and crispy and the sauce was good it was the type you can buy at the market, sweet chili sauce which is what most restaurants are using. The sushi rolls we had 5 different types of sushi's rolls, which was good, but for sushi you should order 1-2 rolls at a time and as it starts to get eaten, then order the next set. First if you order all at once hardly any room on the table and sushi should be eaten fresh right away and also there was so much left over and to eat it the next day is the worst way to eat sushi! Staff were friendly and service was good and restaurant and restrooms were clean and well maintained. Lots of parking
