Forever grateful. Dr. Elena is a gentle soul who entered our home yesterday with peace, calmness, gentleness, and reassurance. This is the first time I've said goodbye to a pup in our home. Not having to drive Benny Boy to the vet in anticipation of what the appointment would be like - a white sterile room with cold floors..... made such a difference in saying goodbye. He sat on his blanket, in his favorite spot, and with his head resting on me the entire time. The kisses he gave me during the whole experience were so very special to me. He wasn't scared. He still felt love. Dr. Elena was squeezed into a small space, sat behind him (which wasn't done at the vet's office) and I don't think he knew she was even there, she was so gentle and non-intrusive. She was reassuring and gently would explain what she's doing and what Benny Boy was experiencing - and that his breathing and movements were all normal. All I had to do was look at her with a questioning face, and she knew what I was asking. Having my other pup, (Blue) there was also special. She doesn't really give kisses - and kissed Dr. Elena during the experience!!!! Blue felt safe with her too. I'd imagine her job may be emotionally challenging at times, but PLEASE know she MADE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR LIVES YESTERDAY IN SUCH A BEAUTIFUL WAY. Thank you. Such a wonderful and compassionate group of people. We called late on a Wednesday evening hoping to get scheduled for the following day as we knew 'it was time' for our 13 year old golden retriever. Expected to get voicemail, but a live person answered and scheduled us for late Thursday morning. What caring, compassionate people this group has. We had been struggling for a few months with making this decision. Vinny would do well for awhile then crash. It was obvious he was done fighting. Filling everthing out on line was easy. I quickly received a call from the office to confirm and schedule the time. The office person was kind and respectful. Dr. Danielle called shortly after. She was here on time and so gental and caring. She gave us some of his fur and made a paw print keepsake. There was also a memorial book given. My parents recently had to say goodbye to our family dog of 14 years, Pepe. They were absolutely devastated to see him go but knew it was best for him. Dr. Lexi Harvey was AMAZING! They were going to come in and fleece me for all sorts of things I didn't need at a time when I was vulnerable. Not the case with this place. I called and they were the most sympathetic people you could have talked to. They understood the gravity of the situation, scheduled a doctor to come out same day, charged me over the phone and walked me through what to expect. We had to make the difficult decision to euthanize my "baby" cat, Cameo, who would have turned 16 this summer. She started her life as a feral kitten in a large colony that had grown in the yard of a long-vacant house that we had just moved into. My pets always seem to decide the end is near over a holiday, you call all of the other home euthanasia services and they tell you on a Tuesday they can come on the weekend or they have no availability or just don't answer. Twice now Laps of Love has come to my rescue, once last Halloween weekend and this Memorial Day. They are kind, quick, prompt and very respectful. It's pricey - around $600 for community cremation - but worth every penny to not drag a sick and dying animal into the vet but to allow it to die at home, quietly and peacefully. My only regret is that we are too ignorant to offer this same kind of kindness for humans (have had to watch my best friend and Mom through end of life and a quick couple shots in the final hours would have been a blessing. Our family dog was heading downhill rapidly and we had called a few places. None of them were up to the lap of love service. Lap of love has exceptional service, from the first moment we called, I think they saved our number and our pups name because we called a few times after confirming we were doing the right thing and they always asked how she was doing and how we were doing. I can not express how wonderful this group of people are. We had to put our 9 year old Great Dane down due to cancer and they could not have made the process easier, kinder, or more loving. From the first phone call with a appointment setter. She was the kindest, calmest person I have ever spoken to in my life. So understanding and willing to work with me on picking the the particular day. They even took into account my dogs slight fear of strange men and made sure to book with a woman vet. So thoughtful. Our boy was very large but she had a person come to help her transport my boy away. They wrapped him in blankets and even had a pillow for his head. For some reason that really meant so much to me. Just when I thought they did the best possible job I got an email from the vet the next morning with condolences and resources like support groups, memorials, and things.
