Whenever we're in the area we make it a point to stop into Leash and Collar. Our dog loves this spot and it's so funny to see other pet parents getting pulled into the shop like we've been. The shop is always well stocked and they have seasonal items as well as a consistent supply of high quality treats, toys, accessories, and more. Of course there's a water bowl up front and they often offer our dog a treat while he's in store. We love the variety of toys and treats they offer. Our dog likes toys that have a ball inside the stuffed animal and they can be hard to find, but we've gotten some very cute ones here that have lasted a long time. We also love that they have some cute wearables for people too! We have been building a collection of sweatshirts and t-shirts that they offer and always love when a new design pops up. read more

Walking in, the store is cozy and covered all my bougie dog needs without having to look too hard. The lady at the counter, turns out was the owner and baker for Leash & Collar. She was kind, friendly, and you could tell she loves her store, what she does, and doggies of all breeds! This is my second year ordering my 2 year old pup a cake from Leash and Collar, and it's always been a smooth simple process via the ordering website. They also are super accommodating on days they do not make cakes. They always have made my pick up date work, so I appreciate that. My pup lovesss her cakes every year and the goodies. I will say the only frustrating thing is they sometimes aren't stocked with the bone marrow bones and it's clearly the most popular item and I wish they wouldn't run out of them. It is unfortunate that her version of events seems to change depending on the circumstances. The very first time I called her--the first interaction we had after I left the store--her immediate response was that she would NOT refund my money and that there was no other cake available to replace it. Those were her exact words. She then blamed me for how I transported the cake. What is even more disappointing is that the story continued to evolve afterward, rather than simply acknowledging what was actually said and taking responsibility. I was there, and I remember the conversation very clearly, so I find it quite surprising to now hear a completely different version of events. I stopped by Leash and Collar and saw the owner closing up got the evening. I wasn't looking for anything for my pup and was actually headed to meet up with friends for something else. I asked the owner if it was okay to go inside and she was completely welcoming. The shop is so cute and cozy. There are so many different kinds of dog treats, toys, clothing...etc. The best part for me is they have a little dog bakery area. There are cookies mini cakes and cupcakes. They also do custom order cakes for you pups as well. I ended up buying the last squirrel shaped cookies and a birthday bone cookie for my little Mav. The prices for the 2 cookies are reasonable for a local small business. I will definitely be back to shop when I have more time. We've driven past Leash and Collar so many times and finally stopped in during the Jingle Bell Pup Crawl in December -- and we're honestly mad we didn't go in sooner. It's such a cute little shop with really high-quality products and none of that random, overpriced fluff you see elsewhere. The store has a surprising variety of toys, treats, leashes, collars, freshly baked dog cookies and "pup cakes". On the day we visited, we saw 3 different types of pup cakes: peanut butter, pumpkin, or banana. Now I know where we can go for a birthday/"gotcha" cake! The young woman who helped us was friendly and offered our puppy a treat - which he loved and we ended up purchasing a bag. I LOVE this place! I should have reviewed it earlier, as my most recent trip was our 4th visit. Leash & Collar has a bunch of cute pet-themed human and animal apparel, but where this place really shines is in its treat selection. This is the only shop where I've been able to find whole rabbit head, rabbit paws, quail heads and feet, and very high-quality dehydrated beef liver. Our Cavalier absolutely destroyed all of what we bought, and we can feel good about giving these treats to her since they're essentially just a dehydrated version of fresh animal parts. Leash & Collar is also the only treat seller that I've seen keep both the animal skin and fur on the morsel - having the treats this way makes them all the more enticing for our doggie (who is VERY picky) and all the more nutritious/beneficial to her. On the corner of Q & 19th, it's in the most dog-friendly area of midtown... kitty corner from Truitt Bark Park and right next to Acheson Wine (where they welcome your dog to join you while you wine taste). Awesome. I first learned of Leash & Collar during their Tricks for Treats event last year during October and got to check them out, admiring that there were items front and center for the current season. I also saw that they offer baked goods for dogs like birthday pupcakes. Fast forward to now when I was in the area and decided to pop in and pick up a treat for my birthday boy, which he happily devoured. This shop is impeccably clean and very well-organized. I've been to several specialty dog stores in various cities and they usually fall into one or more of the typical boutique pitfalls: either grossly overpriced or packed full of generic things that you know you can find elsewhere. Leash & Collar, on the other hand, does a great job of stocking a variety of products that I don't mind paying a few extra bucks for given the quality. The pricing on most items seems actually quite reasonable. I have noticed that the sizes seem to be stocked more for small and medium dogs. I saw a few things I really liked but the sizing was questionable for my golden retriever, so I'll have to definitely bring him by next time to try things on in person. The staff here is always so incredibly friendly and welcoming! It's so refreshing these days to get treated like a valued customer. My dog has IBD and is on a prescription low-fat diet. I was able to order his birthday cake without peanut butter in the Greek-yogurt frosting. Their cakes come in three flavors. I ordered the banana for his birthday and was so impressed with the cake, I ordered the pumpkin for the dogs to share at Thanksgiving. Since it wasn't a birthday cake, I asked that they either write Happy Thanksgiving on it or pipe a turkey. They created this custom bone instead! I was so pleasantly surprised. Absolutely loved this place! I typically purchase my fur baby's annual bday cupcake from a doggy shop in Roseville. However, after 2 consecutive years of noticing the owners treated their POC customers different (as in downright rude/condescending) compared to the way they treat their Caucasian customers, I decided to move on. So happy I found this place on Yelp! As soon as we entered the establishment, we were kindly greeted by the shop keeper. She took her time to make helpful suggestions on the products we were looking for and gave us space to look around as well. This shop had the cutest toys, snacks, and doggy supplies! I ended up purchasing a cooling bandanna, doggy birthday bow tie, doggy "beer", and a cupcake for my fur Bebe's bday which included a little cupcake topper & a candle! So happy to find a great little shop full of all types of snacks, clothes, and goodies for our furry babies!! The best part - they make cakes for them, too! There is the option for custom or pre-made pupcakes and whole cakes, recommended to call the day before to have a pupcake put on hold just to ensure availability. The employee who helped us was so friendly and even gave us a free little treat for purchasing a treat. We also asked about behavioral training and she provided us the information of a local trainer who was amazing when we called, I couldn't ask for a better way to end the year than to finally have someone to turn to, to help my dog with some issues. This is a cute local store!! The store may seem small but it was fully stocked of the best items for our fur babies!! Loved seeing the chew collections along with all the treats and bandanas. I came in for the first time originally for their Halloween trick or treat event which we really enjoyed with our pup London the unicorn. I wanted to come back in with my husband and we brought our other pup Jasper. Jasper will be having a birthday coming up soon so we let him sniffed out a toy he wanted to take home. We also bought a couple of small mini cupcakes to share with all the pups at home. For later we purchased a box of Doggie safe cake mix to make treats at home for his upcoming birthday. We also purchased a bag of natural dog treats and a few bully sticks. All were approved by our dogs and they wanted more. Guess we need another trip to get more treats. Staff are friendly and want to help pamper your pet with special treats. Prices were competitive and they had a great variety of toys, freshly baked treats and bagged natural treats and pet clothes, collars and much more. Our dog LOVES going to this local business! He always tries to drag us in whenever we are in the area. The folks here are so welcoming and kind, and dog lovers through and through. They have such a great selection of bandanas, toys, and treats. We usually let our dog pick out a treat when we stop in- his favorite are the cod skins and the sweet potato cookies ($3 each or $5 for two on most of the small cookies). Love that they have so many yummy bakery items with ingredients that are great for your dog! Recently we came by to pick up some birthday goodies for our pup- we got him a medium sized pupcake ($5) that he absolutely loved, as well as a birthday cookie (decorated with yogurt frosting, so neat!) Patty, the owner, is so sweet! I love this store and wish they would expand to the Bay Area, haha. It's across the dog park and the perfect location! They carry anything and everything dog related. Even something for pet owners like crewnecks. They carry well known brands like Ripley & Rue, Miltons, Eat Play Wag. But they also carry other products from local small business which I love (and would have never found out had it not been for this store). Other speciality items she carries are dog beer (super cool and I couldn't find it for the longest time so I had to buy each flavor), birthday cakes/bandanas/toys, and bakery goods from Paw Patch Pastries (she drives down to SF to get them). All the items are reasonably well priced and I could spend hours shopping here. My only concern is that some of the hoodies, jackets that I wanted weren't available in my dog's size (30 lbs doodles and are XXL-XXXL). But Patty can place a custom order and ship it to you which I appreciate. Leash & Collar also host pop ups on the weekend. The past weekend they had @willowspoon (dog treats) and this weekend they hosted @myfurrpet (paw balms, cologne, pet soap, and leather collars). I love a small business that supports other small businesses! Community over competition, always. I can't wait to see all the new things they'll be carrying (heard name tags were in the works as well). If you're driving up to Tahoe or passing by Sacramento, make this a destination stop. This post is long overdue.. but I visited this place back in October of 2022 and they are fantastic! They are located in a little boutique and there's ton of street parking. I bought a couple of items for my dog for his birthday and got a pup cake! Their toy selection was superb and had very cool treats as well. Their customer service is what really had me. I stopped by my first time to get some treats and toys and placed an order for a pup cake. When I came home I realized one of the treats I had picked up was past the expiration date. It was totally my fault for not paying attention, but I figured maybe when I stop by to pick up the cake I can ask if they could exchange it. When I went back to pick up the cake I asked the employees who were working if I could exchange the item I had purchased a few days ago due to the expiration date passing. They were so kind to let me exchange it and went to check their inventory and got the expired products out of their shelves immediately! They were so quick to respond and so courteous. I have been looking for a cute dog boutique for my little one for so long (besides your usual Pet Smart, Petco, etc.) and Leash and Collar is absolutely perfect! I stopped by with my pup on his 3rd birthday to buy him some goodies since it's his 21st in human years. I was so pleased to find that they carried this "dog beer," perfect for the occasion (fyi, it's just bone broth, HA! this one happened to be the chicken one but there was also a pork based one). The boutique also had a little themed photo shoot corner which I thought was an absolute gem and HAD to take a few pictures of my birthday boy. I got to talk to the woman I presumed to own the boutique and found out that the boutique has been open for about a year now!
