I hired this company to change 2 locks at my Chicago office. A guy came out in a white mobile locksmith shop. He was lethargic and it grossed us out when he spoke to us because he had the worst dental hygiene my co-workers and I had ever seen. I used to work in a dental office and I thought I'd seen it all, but this guy had the worst plaque and tartar I have ever seen. The tartar completely surrounded each of his teeth. It was beyond gross. BUT this review is based on the fact that we had 2 door locks changed. When he was done, he handed me 7 keys. 6 for one lock and 1 for the other. He would have just handed these to me and been on his way, but my co-worker asked if we could get more copies of the second key and he said his machine was broken. WTF, so I had to waste my time to go get keys made after we spent a fortune on this guy coming to our office. No apology and he wouldn't have said anything if we hadn't asked. I needed a key fob made and Laredo did a great job. The had to special order it which took awhile then there were a few delays because of a piece of equipment they need to get the fob working. I called laredo lock while I was away on military orders to get my house locks changed. They said they would call me back and they didn't. My father recommended this company because he had a good experience. I called the company back and they asked for photos of the locks and they would get back to me. Again they didn't. So I finally called back irritated and said if you don't want my business recommend another locksmith company that will contact me back. Finally scheduled a date to change the locks and I was back home. Irritated from lack of communication they gave me an estimated time between 1-3pm to arrive. The person called said they were 15min away at 247 so I called and asked to cancel because the person coming was actually 30-45min away about 330 arrival time. I had plans to attend a wake so I said we had to reschedule. After rescheduling for a different day and time They were still 20 min late. I asked if I would receive a discount since they weren't on time the first time or the second time pushing my time back and they said no because it's an estimated time. I went to Laredo Lock Company with the intention of having them rekey a recently purchased lock. When I arrived I showed Oscar my key and he hesitantly told me they could rekey the lock. I could tell something was wrong so I asked him what was wrong. He explained that my key to my house was not secure and recommended I Google "bump key." I Googled the term on my phone and found an image of the key I just gave him. He proceeded to tell me that my key was the easiest key to obtain and that he and the locksmiths have them to try in case people are locked out. Apparently some builders just put these locks on homes and unsuspecting customers never confirm whether the key keeps them safe. Within four hours they were out to my house and rekeyed all the locks. Sergio was on time, respectful, and I do not hesitate to recommend his installations. I feel lucky to have come in contact with these guys and recommend all to use them. read more

Highly recommended by Glavin Security. Well constructed high rise downtown units use commercial Schlage locks (2 key grooves instead of 1). AVAILABILITY -- able to drop by within 1 hr with status call update. SERVICE CALL FEE -- near downtown is less than $100. Cheaper (about $65) outside downtown. Somehow, I think service fees should be reversed as there are more customers downtown. WORK QUALITY/EXPERTISE -- Satisfactory. Work was completed in less than 15 mins. They were incredibly speedy which was great since it was starting to rain and my house guests had a flight to catch (they were trapped on the roof with me) - the whole thing was incredibly embarrasing and the guy who came to let us in was quick and efficient. $95 later, and about 15 minutes we were back inside. I hired Laredo Lock to replace three knobs and two locks on my home along with adding a peephole to one of my doors. I felt that the price was fair and the overall service was great. Sergio had an exceptional knowledge about the domain of locks and home security. He provided honest and informed opinions on the best products that would fit my price range and for my home. He even fixed my door to make sure it latches correctly. The one problem I had with the overall experience was just nailing down a quote on the work to be done. I initially tried contacting them on the phone and the conversations went great, but getting the written quote took a while. Granted, I changed the requirements of the project after I received my first quote (specifically trying to get an exact knob design). I ended up having to go into their store to figure out the final logistics of my project. Once I worked with the team at Laredo in person, everything went smoothly - they brought out a large book of all the locks and designs they can acquire from their supplier and scheduled the project to be done a couple days later. I would gladly hire Laredo again in the future - they are knowledgable about home security, provide quality service, and want to give their customers the best value possible. If you plan on working with them for a project larger than getting locked out of your home (e.g. replacing a set of locks with a specific brand or design), I recommend making the trip to their store to plan it out. read more

Don't go there with your car. I bought 2 extra spare keys online for my ford f 150. I went there to have them programmed. They asked me for $ 50 ahead because he said it is his time and many keys bought online are not good. After 20 minutes he said that key is not good and he can't program it. Next day I went to different locksmith to check these keys . It took them less than 15 minutes . Both keys were good and they were working. I lost only my time and $ 50 with these guys. They don't know how to program the key. I think it's something wrong with computer they have and they don't have enough skills. Another locksmith works only with cars and ignitions . NEW IGNITION KEYS FOR MY MOPED A very hard task, hard to find keys, Not an easy job THE COST - New moped keys made form the ignition and outcall to my house was quoted at $155 and i paid $155... no surprises here, these guys are honest! THE NEGATIVE - I talked to Oscar when I called, he gave me very fair price that was 15 lower than the best price from 4 or 5 other places I had called. We scheduled a time of 11:30 to 12:30 for a guy to come by in which i moved a meeting to make sure i could be there. 1:20 comes around and not call! I call oscar and he says he will call me back in 20 min and let me know when he get someone. NOTHING! I finally get a call at 2:40. He said he would have someone out and i let him know i was un-happy, however instead of trying to fix it or make the situation worse he got defensive and argued with me about silly facts that i was not talking about. He was lacking COMMON COURTESY and COSTUMER SERVICE SKILLS. IF if was just oscar i would say avoid this place. Good thing it's not. THE PROS - The guy who came was AMAZING! He was a pro at his job and nice as could be. He came in and got the job done faster than anyone else and faster than oscar had quoted ( a couple days ) ended up taking him an hour. They said they could do it (which was awesome since other locksmiths I went to couldn't) and said they'd call me in a couple of hours to let me know when it would be done. This place seems to be rarely open at least the 3 times I stopped by, which was during their stated "open hours", the shop was locked up and no one was inside.) After calling them and talking with them in person they told me they expected to get a blank key to work with my vehicle in 2 weeks. So I called back in 2 weeks and was told the keys were delayed and they would have them in stock by the next week. Two weeks after this I went by the shop to see if they had received the blank keys finally only to find the shop locked up @ 10:30am on a Wednesday!!! I called the number and after 10 rings someone answered saying there was no one at the shop but they would return within 30 minutes. So I waited 25 minutes, went into the shop only to find out they still did not have the keys in..... I should have stopped trying to give them my business at that point in time but for some reason I decided to give them one last shot. I ordered a blank key myself and got it within 4 days. I went by their shop last Saturday around 11am and the shop was locked up with the security gates down. Clearly not open for business at all that day... Oh well, I went to another shop less than 5 minutes away from there and they cut the key within 2 two minutes! Laredo helped me with removing a broken key that was stuck inside the lock cylinder. They were very responsive and came to help the same day. However, I believe they are very expensive since I was charged $110 for less than 10 minutes of work. For comparison, I had a different locksmith stop by our building to re-key four locks for $175. I should have asked for an exact price quote before letting the locksmith touch the lock. read more

Had keys made here, walk-in. Had quick and efficient service, and all 6 keys cut worked well in the locks. To copy 6 keys cost about 14 dollars- a little bit more expensive than a larger store like Home Depot but I prefer to have a professional do the work and Laredo definitely fits the bill. I dropped in hoping Laredo could resolve my issue w/a frozen lock on my bike carrier mounted on exterior spare tire (preventing me from using my spare). Laredo's locksmith was very responsive and professional. He first tried solving my lock issue via lubricant and gentle pursuasion of the key.
