I don't typically post reviews like this, but I felt this experience was worth sharing. A few friends and I recently visited Laredos today, and unfortunately our interaction with the floor manager, Luis (long hair in a ponytail), left us very disappointed and disrespected. One of my menu items simply didn't taste right to me. I politely sent it back and even offered to pay for a replacement because I never expect something for free. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager (Luis) returned to our table and told me that he had tasted the item I ordered and that it tasted fine to him. Everyone's taste buds are different, and whether he agreed with my opinion wasn't really the issue. Good customer service is about listening to your customers and treating them with respect, even when you don't agree with them. The entire interaction felt unnecessary and unprofessional, and it turned what should have been an enjoyable meal into a frustrating experience. My friends and I paid for what we had ordered...didn't eat...and left, never to return again. Thankfully, we have many excellent Mexican restaurants in the Auburn/Opelika area that value customer service, and that's where I'll be spending my business in the future. read more

This was my second time coming to this location. I know that it was cinco de mayo so of course I knew the restaurant was going to be packed and I expected an extensive wait time. Overall, the customer service was terrible and the food was terrible. We got on the waitlist and waited approximately 30-40 minutes for a table which was fine and to be expected. Upon being seated we got our menus right away and received our beverages. Upon putting our food orders in it took about 15 minutes to revive our food which was bad considering that it was cinco de mayo and the restaurant was packed. The quantity of the food is good for the price but the quality of the food is terrible. My friend ordered a steak and the first one was cooked so well to the point she could not cut it. When sending it back to the kitchen the waiter brought out another one and it was still raw. It is clear that the food is terrible the beans taste as if they were poured right out of the can. Overall the food was tasteless and I am surprised that this restaurant is still in business. After putting our margarita drink orders in they arrived to the table in a stirofoam cup meanwhile all the other tables had actual margarita glasses. The margaritas tasted like straight alcohol and crushed ice and could not even taste the mango or strawberry flavor. Our waiter was Luis and he rushed us with everything , our food order, drink order, and everything else that we asked for. Overall we received terrible customer service and a terrible experience. We were in Auburn and decided to have Mexican for a late lunch. We decided to give Laredo a try and we were not disappointed. We were seated immediately. I noticed that the restaurant was very clean. Our waiter was quick with our drinks and the chips. My husband ordered the spicy burrito and I ordered the fajita chicken rice bowl. Both dishes were hot, fresh, and delivered quickly. Our waiter was on top of refilling our drinks and clearing dirty dishes without being annoying. Overall we really enjoyed our meal. One of the really great things about this place was that the staff greeted all the patrons by name, so it was obvious this place is a part of their community. Came here to have dinner, and the food was not very good. We came into the restaurant and ordered it to go and as soon as we ordered, the person said will be ready in a few minutes. Not even five minutes later our quesadilla and burrito came out . The steak burrito to me didn't feel like it had real steak in it. Laredo is an Auburn institution, existing for somewhere between 2-3 decades. The old guard will remember its much cozier/tighter location a little down Opelika Road, closer to the mall. Their Tex-Mex grub is not a revelation but it's not bad and the prices are way reasonable. My standby is the burritos deluxe ($8.25), namely since you get a chicken and a beef burrito. Perfect for me who wants it all. The chicken can be a tad dry but the "gravy" and sour cream and cheese help remedy that issue. Frankly, I don't think you can go wrong with any entree that involves cheese in some manner. Speaking of, get the cheese dip for your table to accompany the complimentary chips and salsa. I am extremely pleased with our visit to Laredo. Fresh hot chips and amazing blended salsa (great for my family since they prefer the blended thin salsa versus the thick chunky salsa) were brought out to our table upon being sat. The salsa had tons of flavor, fresh cilantro, and it was perfect consistency for our taste. The cheese dip was the perfect thick creamy consistency that coated the chips amazingly. When you place your order, request the spicy/hot salsa. It is absolutely amazing. So spicy and absolutely perfect addition to anything on your plate. The meat served at Laredo is different but delicious, on the Texas Nachos the chicken was grilled fajita type chicken, however almost like it is cooked in some sauce, the steak was a great flavor and extremely tender, and the shrimp were fresh and had great flavor. The beans and rice are homemade, and the beans had great flavor and you can definitely tell they are homemade. This is possibly the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been In. I know I am accustomed to Southern California and Texas Mexican food BUT usually other places do okay. I had a late lunch with my family today, and a manager was yelling across the store embarrassing a poor server. That was very unprofessional and uncalled for. You are supposed to deal with that behind closed doors, not make a mockery of your employees. I have my own business and can never in a million years put my employees through that. I drove past this restaurant several times during my stay here and the parking lot was always packed.... That was my sign to stop in for a meal, especially since I love Mexican food... I didn't know that when my brother in law wanted us to take our families here. The meals here were awesome.... Especially the fajitas.. Extremely tender steak served with chicken. The margaritas were another winner here. 16oz, 24oz, and 32oz margaritas served here... Being a responsible drinker, I ordered a 24oz lime margarita on the rocks... Then ordered another...lol. I've been coming to Laredo's for years. The best thing about Laredo's is the customer service. The queso is my favorite thing to get & make sure that you get the jalapeños on the side because they take the seeds out of the jalapeños so they're not too spicy and it's a perfect combination with the queso. This time I got crazy and went for the Molcajete feast that comes in a stone bowl. Beware the large jalapeño in the middle. I took a small slice and wrapped it in a tortilla with other meats. It smoked me for 15 minutes. The ingredients remainder hit so it takes awhile to be edible without being a good challenge. But the broth is good and it is well done. Sis had the steak/shrimp/chicken fajita and enjoyed it. Seemed heavy on the onions and light on peppers. The Vidalia onions was a good touch. Also had a Texas Margarita that was great. Come on in. I ordered what they call a "chalupa" which in reality is a tostada and it was soggy, the beans had no flavor besides lard, and there was just a tiny sprinkling of iceberg lettuce. The burrito was so boring and flavorless. The guacamole barely resembled avocados and was oily...not something I have ever seen before. Very gross. Something was just off about it all, I could barely stomach any of it. I'm used to AUTHENTIC Mexican food, meaning, the kind you would eat in MEXICO. It is possible to find good authentic Mexican food, maybe just not in Auburn. I will say though that my best friend and I have voted this place to have the best cheese dip out of all the Mexican restaurants in Auburn, so don't shy away from it.
