We drove down to Larry's Lunchbox, airport pulling road from Fort Myers on Friday, March 20, 2026. The internet said the restaurant was open Monday -Friday 10-5pm, Saturday 10-2pm. We arrived at the restaurant at 2:30 pm and the restaurant was closed! The hours listed on the front door showed 10- . We were extremely disappointed. Awesome Jewish comfort food . 4-5 home made soups every day , a variety of salads for options and incredible sandwiches. The rye bread , that they source daily , is hand cut and wonderfully fresh and tasty. They must have 25-30 sandwich options that make your options difficult to choose . Wow! What a difference a year makes. My annual pilgrimage to Larry's. This time the one off Tamiami. The bread has been changed and it tastes like 'store bought' and not homemade from before. Sad!! Secondly, a proper pastrami deli sandwich should be piled so high that the top piece of bread should almost be falling off. Not the case whatsoever. I visited lunchbox Larry's today under the "new ownership ". The menu is exactly the same as in the past. Not much has changed other than the female soup nazi is no longer there. Very interesting place, been in this location for over 30 years providing great sandwiches, soups and knishes. I had an incredible grilled pastrami on rye with a knish. The servings are really big and oh so tasty. But the fun part is the service, yes the lady grumbles and is always busy, but to me that is all a part of the charm. Let's start with the positives: old school type deli, sandwiches are huge, rye bread seemed fresh baked and was excellent. Now some areas for improvement: I have never heard a supervisor berate employees like this, telling them they are stupid, cursing at them; also making rude comments about customers when they had issues with orders (regardless of who is at fault, sometimes it's best to just stay quiet). My sandwich was good but could have used longer on the griddle- the cheese wasn't melted at all or even warm. While the food was good, I definitely was uncomfortable listening to the supervisor (she may have been the owner) talk to her employees and even customers like she did. If I am down there and in need of lunch again, I'll likely give my business to someone else. read more

So today I called Larry's Lunchbox to place an order. The lady on the phone told me (with an attitude) to place the order soon because they run out of bread early. Ok fine. I put together the order for my family. My wife then calls back to place the order and the woman (the owner this time) tells her to order quickly because she had a line out the door. OK fine. My wife then QUICKLY places the order, asks a question about what's in the chicken soup (matzoh ball, noodles, veggies etc?), and is then promptly hung up on. So, is the food good at Larry's Lunchbox? Well Geez... I have no idea. But I'll never know because I would never support a business that is led by a NASTY, MEAN, MISERABLE human being. Guess what folks... It's not funny when you're abusive. It's not entertaining. It's not cute. It's not an "interesting experience" as other Yelpers have pointed out. Being mean to people who want to support your business is inexcusable. The lady who works there is always yelling and she gives customers a super hard time. But I look at it as a dinner and a show. Small restaurant with a loaded deli menu. Offers quite a bit. I was thinking about their chili dog but was hesitate about the chili. Don't like spicy chili on hot dogs. Waitress was very accommodating and brought me a sample. She kept saying they make everything there so chili tastes different every day. It was good, not spicy at all, but I chose the mustard and onion hot dog. Good choice. My friend wanted a chopped liver plate. Was not on menu, but waitress made one for her. Other friend ordered pastrami sandwich. He said it was the tenderest he'd ever. Hubby had corned beef. Neither guy could eat more than half their sandwich. Service was great. Food was excellent. A side of fries was $5.00. They were good but I feel that's a tad high. They should be no more than $3.00. End result? Chopped liver is better at TooJay's, but sandwiches are better at Larry's. read more

we were looking to try an old school kosher deli while on vacation and Larry's did not disappoint. the pastrami was perfectly seasoned and served on perfect old fashioned rye bread. I had mine with thousand island dressing and my husband enjoyed his with mustard. the matzoh ball soup was also very good and I couldn't resist a black cherry soda! though unassuming from the front door. A 30-minute wait for a simple order of one sandwich and soup is reasonable, but not when she tells you that she doesn't have record of the order and starts asking you questions to challenge if you called or not. I have been frequently ordering food at Larry's. His soups are the best in town. So are the huge deli sandwiches. Order your sandwiches on the Ryebread. It is delicious The salads are also awesome and huge. They have been open for about 30 years so the food must be good. There are specials every day. I've never had a bad meal there. We had 30 minutes to kill so we thought we'd find a little lunch. This place was nearby so we stopped in. Tiny little place, so we thought the timing would be perfect. Boy, were we wrong. We were only the second couple in line but stood there for 45 minutes waiting to order. The woman behind the counter doesn't even acknowledge the growing line in front of her and instead screams at the staff, threatens to walk out and never come back, swears at them and toward customers, handles cash and cards then touches food without washing her hands ever, the list goes on. I watched her for an hour, never once washed her hands. At first I thought it was funny, then when I realized this happens all day everyday, it was extremely uncomfortable. To top it all off, when we got to the counter she told us we should order online, it would have saved 45 minutes. Thanks for the tip lady, not everyone is a local. When you walk in you can already hear the owner muttering and grumbling. Shes doing her best to ensure business isn't booming. While visiting my mom we wanted to find a place with matzoh ball soup. It's kind of our thing. She relocated to Naples and hadn't found a new place yet. We went to Larry's and were disappointed by the soup, but impressed by the other food. The broth was good but the matzoh balls were bland, as though someone forgot to salt them. Mom felt the same, though she liked her corned beef. I sat outside awaiting my latkes and cookie, and eventually looked at my mom and said "they aren't coming, are they." She looked back and said "nope." I went in to check and the grumbling woman tells me "I never heard you say latkes." This I find offensive because: 1.) She had repeated back "an order of latkes" and I had said "yes" when we were ordering. She repeated it back. She heard it. 2.) She charged us for it. Our bill was $29 and change, which is not the cost for 2 soups and 1 sandwich. That would have been about $22. 3.) I feel as though she was implying I was asking for something for which I had not paid. You know, stealing. She handed my the cookie & I got the order of latkes without argument. I'm guessing she realized her error, but don't make your customers feel like garbage. Just a pro tip from someone who manages a service team that helps small businesses.
