I'd post zero stars if I could. Good food, which is why we have eaten here. One of the quirks of this restaurant is Marci, the Soup Nazi. She's always been rude and short with customers, but today was beyond the unacceptable. One customer started to order and she yelled, "I'm not talking to you." The one that put it over the top was when a different customer told her that she had mistakenly charged him $580.00 instead of $58. He tried to show her the receipt but she screamed, "SIT DOWN. I don't have time to deal with that right now." He told her again that she overcharged him, but she ignored him. Finally, after about 15 minutes she did come out to the table and told him that she looked at her copy of the receipt and said, "I see what I did. I added an extra zero." But she hadn't processed his refund yet by the time we left. We will NEVER be back, and several other customers said the same thing. The Soup Nazi on Seinfeld was blunt but controlled. This woman is a nutcase, constantly cursing and losing control. If you do choose to eat here, make sure to get a copy of your receipt. read more

Larry's Lunchbox is an institution - I remember coming here 20 years ago - and it was over 10 years old then! This is a no-nonsense deli that stacks up with the best of them. All the usual suspects are on the menu and the plates are super-sized from the start. There was no Matzoh soup today (alas), but Paul's Popular Pursuit more than satisfied. For chopped liver enthusiasts, this one is a must (Pastrami, chopped liver, swiss, slaw & russian on rye). Kids had bowl of chili and a BLT. Wonderful! Larry's has the best rye bread ever and delicious authentic Jewish deli. Marcy (the owner) is lovely and cares that all enjoy the food. She is extremely busy but never forgets or messes up an order. She asks that people ponder what they want before stepping up to order which is very understandable and reasonable as Larry's is usually always busy. Any negative comments about her are confusing to me as I have always had the opposite experience. My bf and I once forgot a loaf of rye bread and she called his work (from seeing the company name on his shirt) to let us know. I 100% recommend Larry's. We have never had a bad meal or experience. Excellent food, best pastrami sandwiches I have ever had. BUT, horrible service. The owner is comparable to the soup nazi on Seinfeld. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. She was in a hurry to take our order and told us if we didn't know what an item on the menu was we wouldn't like it and not to order it. The door was also broken and wouldn't close all the way. She stated to another customer that it "fucking pisses her off" that she has to keep closing the door behind customers who enter. I'll preface this review by saying the food was really great. However, the service is really lousy. The Seinfeld 'Soup Nazi' comes to mind. We went up to the counter to order and were greeted by the co-owner frantically running around, telling us how behind she was. That's fine, I've worked food service, I get it. She told us this several more times before we were able to order. She then made a big deal when my mom ordered something off the posted boards on the wall. Apparently the menus aren't the same as the boards and the co-owner gets very upset when you can't intuit that automatically. She still served what my mom ordered but made it a point to passive aggressively comment on it at our table. She forgot part of our order, yelled at my mother for asking for more coffee, and continued to berate other customers in the background. All that said, I would go back for the food. Online menu says delivery available all day Saturday. I called and the rude woman said they were just at my location (hotel). I said not for me. She said fax your order and hung up. I called back, told her I'm at a hotel, I don't have a fax machine. She told me the delivery guy was done for the day. So I sent my husband to pick up. He said the lady was frazzled. Split pea soup was good. I wanted tuna on a bagel, they were out of bagels. What kind of bread do you want? It didn't matter, they only had pumpernickel left, probably my last choice. In fact, I like everything (with perhaps the exception of the chopped liver - not as good as my mother's). As to service, expect surly and unfriendly. The one star is solely based on service, as I have never tasted the food. I needed to send food to a relative in Naples after a death in the family. I found Larry's on Yelp, and called to have some food platters delivered. The woman who "helped" me was about as unhelpful and miserable as they come. An address wasn't good enough, she wanted the name of the development and directions. I explained to her that I live in California, and could not supply this info. I then went on Google maps and read her the cross streets. Not good enough! WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE COMMUNITY??!! For the 3rd time, I told her I did not have this information. I finally asked her if she could look it up on Google maps. She said no. All the while, she kept talking to other customers and/or putting me on hold. She was bothered and testy that she had to speak to me. I'm assuming she is an owner, because no business would put up with this quality of an employee. Called to cancel the order and request a refund but, the nasty mean bitch Marcy that's answers the phones, refused to issue a refund and started screaming at me. I was told by several coworkers about her before I even placed the order and wish I would have listened to them. I'll admit, a few years ago when calling to order food for the first time from here... I did have the same experience as others with a less-than-friendly lady on the phone. BUT, the food is phenomenal, and as soon as I alerted the younger lady to the issue, she apologized and sent me free soup with my delivery. I agree that I am normally a service snob, but in this case I will continue to come back because I ADORE the food and the owners kids who run the place now. They are super helpful and kind. There is no question regarding the food. THE BEST soup, salad and sandwiches in town. I sometimes drive back to Naples from Miami just for the day to grab lunch with my family here.
