My girlfriend and I spent the day at apple hill. This was our second stop. We arrived around 11am on a Sunday. It wasn't that busy when we arrived. Each Farm has something they are known for and from a friend we heard that this place had the best apple dumplings covered in their special sauce. We came here specifically to try their apple dumplings. My girlfriend brought 6 to bake at home. The bake shop has a lot to offer. Not only does it have pies, cupcakes, cookies, dumplings, it also has lunch items like an apple salad. You can buy baked items freshly baked or frozen. I choose the hot apple dumplings so we can try it on the spot. The apple was smaller than anticipated. It turned out that there was just enough apple to go with all the pastry. I would eat another one. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Coming early paid off. There wasn't a long line at the bake shop. We were 2nd in line and there was a family sitting down waiting for their food. I look forward to coming back here next year. We went to there apple barn and they have some varieties of apples I've never heard of. I would like to given them a try, but they don't sell individual apples. It's only by the bag or box. We got a great parking spot right in-front of the apple barn. The bathrooms are plentiful and clean. read more

I've been to Apple Hill a good handful of times but never got a chance to stop at Larsen's. I've been missing out! The Apple barn and bake shop are separate buildings. When you step into the Apple barn the mixture of different types of apples smell SO good like you're holding a fresh apple right up to your nose. The bake shop also smells amazing of course. And the staff is so friendly and welcoming. Just past the bake shop is their museum of the Larsen family history. It was amazing to see the vehicles they had parked in there and all the old machinery. The two gentlemen inside the museum were amazingly welcoming and gave my partner and I a lesson in the history of everything we were looking at. They had all the current and old family photos hanging up near the entrance and an original map of Apple hill, it was really cool to see. We had a great time. I definitely recommend :) read more

Bought some apples and cider at a great price from Larsen's Apples and walked over to the Bake shop for some tasty fresh treats. Bought two listed items: fresh apple slices with caramel-I would avoid this as the "caramel" is actually dulce de leche from boiled sweetened condensed milk, which is not caramel. Was really disappointed in that item. Also bought a fresh sour cream berry apple pie that was incredibly delicious later at home. read more

This is a very nice ranch with plenty of seating and a great atmosphere. I only stopped by for their bakeshop this trip, as I've heard they have wonderful pies, and it wasn't wrong! I bought a couple frozen to bake at home, and am currently enjoying their cream cheese pumpkin pie with candied topping, and it's amazing. I wanted a little bit of a darker browning on the topping so I just low broiled it with foil tented over the crust and it was FANTASTIC! The lady at the bakeshop was also very kind and helpful! The people are SO friendly here- I just love it!! This farm has been in the family for several generations (we spoke to one of them- she was so kind)! The museum is open and the bakery is filled with delicious treats... but sadly, we're told that their crop had a bad night of freeze and was ruined. I'm hopeful that this cute farm (and Larsen family) will triumph next year- so please make sure to check them out!! The Larsen Apple Barn Bake shop is the home of the original Apple turnover on the hill. Or so at least that is what's printed in the Apple Hill Farm guide. So when I dropped on by, I ordered a turnover $3.95. They top it with apple syrup. It was served at room temp, which was fine with me. I'm not a big proponent of microwaving a fresh made turnover. But the turnover was yummy. Thick flaky substantial crust with chunks of apples inside. Not overly sweet even with the syrup. Yum. The staff was fabulous and they described all the different kinds of pastries. You would never know they answer the same questions everyday, all day constantly because they are so friendly and helpful to each and every customer. Oh boy, let me tell you they have an extensive baked good offerings (varieties of whole and slices of pie, turnover,dumpling, muffins, cupcakes...) and cafe items like salads and sandwiches. Still the best apple pie I've ever had!! Their family recipe is simply perfct. The pie isn't very sweet and the crust is so light! Delicious!! We had some apple pastries that were ok to pretty good but my main issue was with health and safety. Inside the very small store there was no enforcement of mask wearing. Additionally, I could see that most of the kitchen staff and even one of the people working the cash register were wearing their masks around their chins. read more

The reason I travel to Apple Hill is to have a good time, enjoy good food, and have a relaxed day. As I pulled into the Larsen shops I noticed a big truck with the Trump flags (no big deal customers have the right to express themselves); however, as we tried to go into the barn a guy dress from head to toe in Trump attire was standing on the door lecturing everyone about the devil. Questionable Covid 19 safety precautions for this bakery. The workers were wearing mouth shields. I was visualizing airborne particles floating in the air as they were talking and breathing. The staff weren't really helpful when I asked if the pies needed to be refrigerated or if they can be left out in room temperature overnight. Other than that,, they were friendly. I bought two pies: the traditional apple pie and pumpkin cheese. Both were tasty. The apple pie wasn't too sweet. The apples in the pie are cut in very thin layers. A few of us were meeting close by to go kayaking. I asked what time they opened and was told 8am. At 8:05 we were ready to purchase a few things. They could have cared less and seemed annoyed we were there. This was my second visit and after the bad attitudes and subpar apple pie, I won't be back. I tried the traditional Apple slice (good), pumpkin slice (eh, ok), berry Apple sour cream slice (didn't like but my parents did), and pumpkin cookie (awesome!!!!) If you've been to southern California's Julian (their version of Apple hill) then this place and pretty much any other place in Apple hill is a disappointment. We went on a weekend where there was a 5K event that morning. We were looking for a place we could walk around in Apple Hill with our Puppy and enjoy a fall day. The place WAS packed - but less packed than others, and we ended up waiting about 45 minutes to order some food and apple baked goodies. All in all - the food was okay - pretty over priced for what we got but it's Apple Hill - a tourist trap what do you expect? Our baked goods were okay too - not great, not what i was expecting, but they did the job. We ended up doing a salad, a sandwhich, a slice of pie (the best baked good of the three), 2 dumplings (I didn't like these, I would not recommend) and 2 turnovers (ehh they were okay) - and it cost us near $40. Not a great value - but we needed to eat at this point. Unfortuantely there's also really no place to sit and "picnic" here - there's 3 or 4 tables in front of the restaurant otherwise that's about it. I'm not a fan of Apple pie or any pie really but they had me hooked their sour cream Apple berry pie!!! It is the best pie I've ever had and especially with Gunthers Vanilla served on top!
