Conveniently located at the Collection nearby Lazy Dog and soon-to-be Cheesecake Factory, Larsen's Grill has been a great addition for fine dining in Oxnard. My family and I have visited here for special occasions only (since each entree can be $30-50 each) and it has always been superb service and food. We ordered delicious entrees such as the Porterhouse house steak with broccolini, tri tip with baby back ribs combo with creamed spinach, and lobster tail with garlic mashed potatoes. I understand the wait of the food took a while but we were a party of hungry 5 people. Wine selection was good too. The one we chose were out of stock but our server provided the closest one to it and honored the price of the original one we chose which was nice. Fancy ambiance here but doesn't mean you have to get dressed up to the nines. Great place to take a date or celebrate your mom's 60th birthday :) lol read more

As you walked into the establishment it had a comforting ambiance. We were greeted immediately by the hostess. The waitress was wonderful very attentive. The bartender served amazing drinks. We order raw oysters they were delicious. As for our main course we had trip tip and beef ribs. We also had stuffed chicken and a 5 cheese macaroni. When the came out the only that was warm were the plates. The tri-tip was overcooked and some were dried out. The chef attempted to mask the burnt and dried out meat by over saucing the tri-tip. The beef ribs were over seasoned and weren't edible. As for the stuff chicken the chicken was over cooked and not fresh. The macaroni was extremely dry. When taking our first bite we both can taste salt that was grinded on the cheese. We wanted try something that wasn't so expensive but hoping that the food was going to be good. A true chef would want his customers love his least expensive entrees and want to come back again and pay for their most expensive meals. We will never go again to this establishment. read more

My husband and I sat at the bar we were only asked once what we would like to drink and after that the bartender never came back, we wanted to order food luckily the manager Jonathan passed by and took our food order if not for him we would have never ate. We received our food but still the bartenders never came over after feeling frustrated and using my butter knife to cut my filet mignon I asked for the manager, I expressed how we were ignored and felt uncomfortable. 2.5 stars overall. 3.5 stars for the food, 5 stars for the waitstaff. 1 star for the uncourteous and disrespectful hostess (I believe her name was Kiersten) nearly spoiling our first time dining experience at what's supposedly the best steakhouse in Oxnard. We arrived for a late 8:30pm dinner on a busy, but not full Saturday night. Our hostess glanced at us dismissively and led us to a table directly adjacent to a door exiting to the outside patio. When we inquired if we could move to one of the multiple unoccupied booths, she responded it would be at least a 15 minute wait. This was confusing since I counted at least 4 empty booths with several patrons finishing up, but we decided to stay put. After several minutes of cold wind blowing in our faces when the patio door opened, we noticed none of the booths had yet been taken, and several others were being cleaned. We asked our waitress if we could move to one, and she cheerfully accommodated our request, disappearing to bring back the hostess. The hostess then returned sulking. She silently collected our menus and without saying a word or even acknowledging us, started rudely walking away, expecting us to follow her. Definitely not what I would expect from someone working at a high-end steakhouse. When she sat us down in a booth, I asked why we couldn't have one earlier with so many open. She responded in an unapologetic tone that "these were being reserved, but [she] didn't want any problems", and then simply walked away. What kind of response is that? And reserved for who? For the rest of our meal, the two booths adjacent to ours went unoccupied, and many more became available throughout the night. Her demeanor was a stark contrast from our waitress, Chris (or Kris), who was absolutely fantastic and a breath of fresh air, saving our night quite frankly. She was attentive, hospitable, and was genuinely happy to serve us. Food was good. Very good crab cakes, which were nicely crisped and stuffed with lump crab. The tomato and burrata salad was equally delicious. Prime rib (ordered medium rare) was flavorful, but a bit on the tough side. Overall, it was a mixed experience, primarily due to the first 30 minutes of unpleasantness with the hostess. Would recommend that management place her in a training course or two on basic hospitality and courteousness. read more

I ate here for my birthday, and it was honestly one of the most amazing steaks I've ever had. I got the dry aged filet mignon, and it was amazing. I ate here with my family of eight and the service was amazing, the ambience was so sophisticated. My dad absolutely loved the way the bar looked and the whole decoration of the restaurant. I will absolutely cherish this dinner. It was the last dinner I had with my dad before he passed. And it was the most amazing dinner he had ever in his life. So I am thankful for that. read more

An order some garlic bread but not really what we expected. Little disappointed we ordered different prime steaks off the menu and unfortunately we weren't really impressed by the steaks and the sides (sweet potato fries kinda cold) My rib eye was cooked according to order but very stringy and chewy, for that price and cut I was expecting way more.. My brother's NY strip was ok not a hit nor a wow! The sweet potato fries were cold on the table.. We got dessert on the house (.. and still they were out of what we wanted) for the rib eye inconvenience but I don't think we'll give it another try. My family and I came here for lunch to celebrate our marriage. I ordered a peach martini and it was very tasty and strong. I felt a good buzz come in before my food arrived. I ordered the stuffed chicken, it was full of flavor with the added cheese. The chicken was moist and seasoned well. I am bummed the atmosphere was so serious and the staff didn't seem happy to be working. Our table was so wobbly! It was horrible. So honestly, at first, I was a little worried because we were 1 of the first ones there and didn't get the service as expected. She atold us about the deal of the day & we were sold. May have not been a deal for your pockets but definitely delicious & worth it! We order the Tomahawk Steak & the stuffed Lobster & OH MY GOSH! The steak; was sooooo amazing! It was cooked & seasoned perfectly! Same goes for the lobster! My boyfriend also got a glass of the Cab & I went with the Blood Orange Margarita. Both were great! Summary: Food is great, service was completely and utterly unacceptable I came here with a group of 7 guys last month on a Monday night (4/25/22, 6pm). After ordering our drinks - it took about 20 minutes for them to come out, which is ridiculous. It was a slow night and there was no reason for them to take this long. As a result, we didn't order a second round once they came because we knew it would also take the same amount of time (lost sales!). I ordered a prime NY strip with mac and cheese and asparagus - it was excellent, no complaints there. However, after dropping off our food, we did not see our server again once until the end of the meal. At one point, barely anyone had any water left. I was sitting there staring at my half eaten steak and couldn't take another bite because I needed water so badly to wash it down. I ended up getting out of my seat to flag someone down to get a refill, and they scurried over to another table to take their order. I sat back down and waited for them to be done, then got up again as soon as they left that table. Again, this waiter (literally the only one I could find) started talking to another guest so I sat back down again. Finally, I was totally fed up with being unable to get a refill that I got up one final time, walked over to the middle of the restaurant, and poured my own refill of water from the pitchers sitting by their kiosk. Seriously cannot believe it came to this after the price I was paying. Lazy Dog has much better service than this. Then, the absent waiter finally shows up to collect our dishes and brings the bill. He has us pay on this mobile Clover machine we put our card into. Here's how it went down: He hands me the machine, I put my card in, and then he says: "if you want to leave a tip, please hit one of these buttons" and stands directly next to me staring at me while I'm doing it. This guy deserved a zero percent tip, but I'm so nice I couldn't even bring myself to do that with him standing there. Pro tip: you should hand the machine to the customer and walk away to let them make a tipping decision in peace. I will not be back, ever. I paid the same price for Ruth's Chris a few months ago and the service was impeccable. The prices range from $8-$11 so a bit on the pricier side for food but the quality is top notch so I highly recommend it over your typical bar food. Avoid- truffle fries. Baby back ribs with Cole slaw - $11 this was surprisingly so good too! They sit on a bed of pineapple close slaw and they give u a healthy portion! 4. Crab cake - I think $10-$11 but it only comes with one but it is loaded with crab! So I didn't mind that it came with just one. I wonder if the appetizer comes with 2. If so then the regular price is a better deal but it was very gooooood too!! 5. Bbq tri tip sliders - they are a little sloppy with bbq, onions, and onion rings! I understand they sell flavor options separately (for a ridiculous additional cost), but do they understand salt and pepper before cooking? Our server was lame and unprofessional. She flirted shamelessly with two guys while ignoring her other tables. A guy from another table had to get up a walk over to her to get her attention. When it was time to pay, she screwed up our bill... twice. I don't mind paying top dollar for quality food. But the food they serve here is more akin to what you'd expect at a diner than a steakhouse. Ruths Chris has nothing to worry about. My husband and I dined here for a late valentines celebration last night. While our server was great and service could not have been better, we were really really let down at the quality of the food for the prices we were paying. I ordered the miso Chilean sea bass ($57) and my husband got the NY strip ($56), and at those prices the quality should have been top notch.... which it was far from. When we were first presented with our entrees, I immediately noticed how thin and flat the piece of fish was. It honestly looked like a frozen fish filet that had been microwaved. And when I bit into it I was even more surprised. It tasted very watery (seriously like a frozen filet you buy in packs at Costco), and the texture was chewy and dry. Looking at past pics of the miso Chilean sea bass now that other yelpers have posted, what I got was TOTALLY different..... very disappointing. As for my husband's steak, while it was cooked decently well and was medium rare like he requested, again the meat quality was poor. Chewy, tough meat. Overall, I give them two stars because I honestly can't believe that they'd serve that fish for $57. I've been to other fine dining restaurants that serve the best quality fish at HALF that price. Again, while the service was great, the quality of the food was really shocking. Maybe they're good for happy hour food but if you are looking for really good quality steak and fish, I would not recommend this place. read more
