Chile Verde Pork, Rice and Beans
    Gen T.

My friend and I went on an adventure using the Metro and Metrolink system and ended up in DTLA. The very first sitdown restaurant we saw was Las Anitas at the entrance along Cesar E Chavez and Alameda. It gave cueva vibes with the low cieling and intimate indoor area. He ordered the Chile Verde and I had Costillas de Puerco and Nopales. The food hits. It was my first time having an authentic uncommon Mexican meal and I'm a fan. Since it's location is in the heart of DTLA, it is a bit pricey, but it's part of the Olvera St experience.

Decent looking restaurant that is clean and cute inside. Food was not good though. Guacamole and chips to start were very bland. It tasted almost like there wasn't any salt added. I ordered the crisp beef tacos (shredded beef) and it was the worst crispy taco I've ever had. The beef was so incredibly dry and bland that even adding salsa on top couldn't save it. Beans and rice were okay but I don't expect the restaurant to mess that up. My group also tried the enchiladas and taquitos, which were also disappointing. They came out very bland and all soooo dry. Safe to say I do not plan on returning.

Pozole and 2 Soft Tacos de Carne Asada

We ordered a small pozole and a soft taco plate and our total was around $36. It was quick and efficient service which I appreciated and our host checked our on multiple times. The pozole was amazing and it's hard to come by in the west side so I loved it, but seeing how someone previously mentioned some of the soups are not made fresh does make me a little wary.

My family and I went to El Paseo Inn Restaurant first but the server was very rude once we sit down. We stepped out immediately. Then we saw Las Anitas and the customer service was totally different. Our server Ricardo O was very professional, polite and friendly. The customer service was outstanding here. The food was good. I highly recommend this place when you visit Olvera Street.

Fast, attentive service. The food was solid. The avocado salsa was great with the chicken taquitos. Good choice if you're visiting Olvera Street and want to get something to eat right there.

I was here for Dia de Los muertos. Very busy day. Las Anitas had the shortest line. So why not. The service was excellent. It's really cool looking inside. Felt like I was someplace else. The food was ok. I really wanted a margarita but they only serve the wine kind. No thnx. I was glad they were open and had Dia De Los Muertos experience, but I don't think I would go back. Not till they could serve me a real margarita

This is my favorite part of Los Angeles Olvera Street, completely forgot our waiter's name I want to think it's Jose. They got us in quickly even though there was a group of 14 people of head of us! It's a small spot, the food was great, and nicely priced, I had a nice margarita. I actually thought Chile Riano, that hot chili I'm not sure I'm spelling it right, was top notch.

Day old menudo...and I asked for a large. This is small....

We were walking around Placita Olvera, and hadn't had breakfast yet. This place looked quaint and cozy, so we stopped by....Big mistake.... Short and sweet, I LOVE MENUDO!!! And I can tell when its bad...or not cooked correctly, and as you can see in the picture, it was disgusting....I asked the waitress if the Menudo was fresh, and she said "no, it was made yesterday, and pre-heated today." All bad... I returned it and got some Chilaquiles instead...$90 lesson learned...Won't come here ever again...

En realidad es un lugar turístico, pero la comida y el servicio fue tremendo. Los frijoles estaban deliciosos, gracias por un buen desayuno

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!

The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

The building is an original piece of the City's history, boasting a menu that features their famous burritos that vary in size from a regular to a huge party size beast that can feed several. I tried the Hollenbeck and the Okie burritos on two separate occasions via pick up, as aforementioned, the service was quick, convenient and the pick up window is seamless, parking is located next to the structure and I haven't had problems getting there. Hollenbeck was good but I definitely enjoyed the Okie burrito more, I ordered the "original" size once and didn't seem to learn my lesson the second time, these burritos can feed two in Original size. They offer a "Mini" version which would be satisfactory for one person. My favorite thing about these burritos is how "home-made" they are, the salsas and meats are fresh and taste like they came out of an abuelitas kitchen. I still need to try the crunchy tacos and nachos which look great, I recommend trying this classic establishment at least once if you're in the area.
