My goodness. The disorganization here is next level. I'll include a photo. 4 people working but only 1 person being helped. Go to finally order and they're out of most meats without any sign stating they don't have XYZ.
Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Co worker brought me to this taco spot in grand central market. When I walk in, I was overwhelmed by amount of people and all the restaurants. Without my co worker, I would have to walk around and look for this place. I ordered stomach taco. The flavor was ok but the portion was great. After we grabbed our food, we had to go around and look for empty table to sit on. I don't really like this type of setting. Parking could be hard if you come around peak time.
I genuinely cannot believe how big the portions are here. This is one of the biggest burritos I've ever seen. This was hands down the biggest torts I've ever seen (I only have a picture of half of the torta). The gentleman who makes these is so lovely. Such a hard worker! The line got long for this little shop in grand central market, but he kept working through it! I wish I had more salsa for my burrito, it was good, but needed a little more flavor. But my friend said her torta was amazing. I'm definitely going to try that next time! There are no seats outside of this food stall, but plenty of seating throughout grand central market. Service is relatively quick given that he makes your order right there on the spot. I'll definitely be back
My second time trying this spot. I was lucky enough to miss the crowed on a Wednesday night. I originally came for a quesadilla and taco but they were out of the chorizo meat and just got a quesadilla. The quantity of the food is good portions. Not cheap but not pricey $5-$15 depending on items. Not only is the quantity acceptable but the quality is good. The food is flavorful. Both the quesadilla and beans were delicious. The rice was good but nothing too crazy to rave over just enough flavor to pair with the plate. The service was great. I always lean more on my broken Spanish to order Mexican food anywhere I go This location is part of the grand central market in DTLA, fast paced, always busy, plus hard to find tables. Definitely worth stopping by to check out this place and the other goodies within the food court.
Never would I imagine myself enjoy a taco this much! I had one yesterday, for $6, and I am thinking of when I can go back and had another one again! Yup, that good. We were at the Grand Central Market looking for lunch. Walked by this place, and the protein looked good and I ordered a beef tongue taco thinking to eat one as snack. The gentleman who served me was super friendly. Saw me taking a picture and volunteered to hold the protein so I can get a better picture. Here are plenty of seating area in the food court area. One taco can fill two person up. The meat was so tender, so good that I decided to go back and get one to go for mom to try. But they sold out of beef tongue taco already! Oh well, Until next time!
We did a lap around the Market to look at our options but ended up at Tacos Tumbras a Tomas. There was a line so we figured that was a good sign. The portion sizes are HUGE. I ordered 2 tacos but he gave me extra tortillas so 2 tacos turned into 4 (which I could not finish). My husband ordered a burrito which was also huge and he wasn't able to finish. We both felt like the flavor was lacking. The "spicy" sauce wasn't very spicy, or maybe there just wasn't enough of it. It was good but I wouldn't go back because there were so many other good options.
This is my favorite carnitas taco spot!!! One taco is enough, they give you extra tortillas so you could get full with one and two if you're extra hungry.

Delicious tacos and huge portions! This is located in Grand Central Market and is located towards the middle. It's near Donut Man. We tried a range of meats, including lengua, carnitas, cabeza, and asada. There's different texture to each meat and I find it uncommon for places to have such a range of meats. Staff was super friendly and service was fast (so if you see a line, it's for good reason and don't despair!).
Tacos Tumbras a Tomas was the place my friend picked for a quick pick me up at Grand Central Market. There was quite a bit of wait, both to order and for the food. Once he got the food, the portions were large for the price! He also mentioned how they were really nice despite the busy atmosphere. The only complaint was probably the salsa, the flavor was a bit lack lustered.
Who doesn't love a big taco loaded with meat? For $5 you get to choose what meat choice you want for your big taco. It comes with onion and cilantro, and the server was very kind to ask if we'd like that understanding that we are tourists. Just note that the meat is very fatty and oily so it can get quite heavy.
4++ Located inside the Grand Central Market, this stand or space feels like it's been here for quite some time. It's one of the handful of taco spots located in the market. The folks here are friendly and the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the amount of food you get! I came in on the way home from work one night and wanted to get a chicken or pollo taco. The prices seem slightly high on the menu, but once you get it, you see why. This 'one' taco is basically the equivalent of like 4 tacos. The meat and toppings were piled high and you are given extra tortillas to mop up an straggling toppings that fall off your original taco. Best to be eaten with a fork (virtually impossible to pick up and eat with your hand). Another great piece in the Grand Central Market tapestry of yummy (and affordable) eats.

The asada and the pastor were absolutely disgusting. Low quality meat, poorly cooked, and poorly prepared. Although they load up your taco and burrito, its not good tasting food. The burrito fell apart when trying to eat it. Poor quality! read more

Came here to Grand Central with my partner and I got one asada taco! Food here is so good and the portions, ommgg, crazy and one fills me up. Each taco is $5 and that's a steal for the price and portion. I eat this everytime I come to grand central. My favorite taco place to go. The only taco place in grand central that has a line. It's in the middle right side. Workers are extremely quick and friendly! Love this place. read more

Solid tacos for a very good price here. Only reason I didn't give 5* is that I've had better tacos but these are still quite good. And they're open early so that's a plus for those that need a taco before lunch. While $5.00/taco may seem high, it's the equivalent of 3 soft tacos. Everything exceeded my expectations. I arrived Grand Central Market and saw a long line for this place so that's how I knew it was good. The man who took my order was cool man where he gestured everything to ensure that I get what I wanted. I got carnitas burrito that came with refried beans, Mexican rice, onions, cilantro, and their green mild salsa. The best carnitas burrito I have ever tasted! It's on the side of the market, you can't miss their sign. read more

huge street tacos for a cheap price in THIS economy?! I'm sold. Trust, you only need to order a minimum of two tacos and you'll be fulllll. They fill the tortillas to the BRIM with delicious, flavorful meat and their salsas and veggies are so fresh. Tummy wasn't too happy after but I don't regret it one bit. this is my favorite taco spot in LA so far. i was recently looking at my old reviews from when i lived in CT and saw i had previously said i don't like mexican food. well, that was clearly because the mexican food in CT is horrendous. this place is one of the best spots, period. the servings of meat are huge for a good price and it's some of the most tasty and tender i have had. they have jowl, snout, tongue... all my favorites! it's my favorite spot in grand central and worth waiting for! read more
Tacos Tumbras a Tomas is a staple of the Grand Central Market. They have been in business for 50 years. Many restaurants have come and gone out of the Grand Central Market, but Tomas has been a steady spot for many years now. I usually can house 3 or 4 tacos, depending on the size of the tacos. These tacos are hefty, and 2 tacos are like the size of 4 or 5 tacos in my opinion. I got the Carne Asada and the Carnitas tacos. They give you several extra tortillas to make more tacos from all the meat they give you. I don't like wasting food, but I didn't need so many extra tortillas. They asked me what spice-level hot sauce I wanted on the tacos, but I would have liked more sauce on the side as there wasn't enough hot sauce for me, as there was so much meat. I would have liked to add the sauce myself. I'm looking forward to coming back here in the future to try other tacos. read more

It had been a while since I last visited Grand Central Market, and I'm so glad I stopped by Tacos Tumbras a Tomas! From the moment I walked up, the customer service was great, and the place had a welcoming vibe. I ordered a carne asada burrito, and wow--it was delicious! Perfectly seasoned meat, generous portions, and every bite was packed with flavor. They have a full menu of amazing Mexican food, so there's plenty to choose from if you're craving something else. If you're in Downtown LA and looking for authentic, satisfying Mexican food, this spot is a must-visit. Highly recommend! read more

I've been meaning to try the famous goat tacos at Tacos Tumbras a Tomas, and I finally got to give them a go! I wasn't super hungry when I went, so I only ordered one goat for $5. However, the portions are HUGE: the goat meat is really loaded on there, and you get extra tortillas on the side. The quantity for "one" taco is actually enough for 3-4 tacos...an absolute STEAL. I admit, the goat meat had some inconsistent dry parts, but it had tender, gamey parts that I enjoyed. The workers were nice and efficient, despite the long lines. Overall, it's an incredible at $5 for one taco (technically, 3-4 tacos); you'll definitely be full in the end! read more

Food was good for what you get. One taco is big as your hand and come with two extra tortillas just because of how much meat you receive. The service was simple and easy. The line situation is a bit confusing but the line STARTS across form the register. You'll see the sign attached to the corner where the line starts. The whole atmosphere reminds me a street market with many other places all around and seating all spread throughout. Overall a good spot read more

You know a place is good when it has the longest line, luckily the line moved quickly. We ordered a carne asada burrito from Tacos Tumbras and it was so good and flavorful. A lot of places go heavy on the beans and rice and skimp on the protein, but not here. The burrito was large enough to share but you're going to want to eat it all. read more
