As a Salvadorian, I know I shouldn't be eating pupusas at a non- restaurant perse, it's always the same result not good. And I took a chance again bcs it says it's been established for a long time! ‍I kept it simple, ordered 2 bean and cheese, cheese was not oozing out, it was a bit thick and the bean and cheese mix didn't look like what I'm used to... I almost thought they gave me a revuelta. And it was not pipping hot as it should be since I waited for it. Taste was whatever, bland for a lack of a better description, curtido was way to spicy, couldn't enjoy it. And Pupusas are $6 pricey for a regular size.

So my journey at Grand Central Market continues and after trying out with much success Villas Tacos and For The Win smash burgers,we were still hungry and we walked past this amazing looking spot that was serving delicious pupusas-we decided to give em a try-Sarita's Pupuseria was the spot serving up these delicious looking pupusas. We were a party of 4 and these things are pretty small so we decided to go with 4 pupusas Revuelta($6.00) which are made with Pork-Beans & Cheese-they are topped with pickled cabbage and this sauce which is more like a juice-it's so good-it's probably just the juice from the pickled cabbage with a little hot sauce but man does it take the pupusa to the highest of levels. They served em stacked 2 to a plate which was a minor inconvenience since there were 4 of us but we just ended up cutting em in half before splitting em-wanted to make sure everyone got their share of the toppings. I'm not a pupusa expert by any means,it's a relatively new food for me,but I will say even though I was full,I recognized how tasty these things were and how perfect they were as something light to eat as well-relatively inexpensive as well which I liked. In closing-if you ever find yourself at the Grand Central Market and in the mood for a pupusa-I would for sure recommend this spot-they aren't too busy and aren't too expensive and the bang for your buck for this tasty item is pretty hard to beat. PS-Fun fact-This stand in Grand Central Mark was featured in the movie La-La Land with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone and I was watching the new Chris Hemsworth movie Crime 101 and there was a scene in that movie that was filmed at this stand as well.

Another great and reliable option at Grand Central Market! I recently tried Sarita's Pupuseria for the first time, and before even ordering, I had already noticed how long the line can get during peak hours which is always a good sign. Thankfully, I stopped by during a slower moment and was able to order without much of a wait. Even better, the food still came out hot and fresh pretty quickly. I ordered two pupusas de chicharrón (pork) with all the fixings. The flavors were absolutely on point and everything paired together perfectly. The red salsa did have a bit more heat than I'm personally used to, but it still complemented the dish really well. I was lucky enough to grab a seat right at the counter, which made the experience even better since I got to take in the lively atmosphere while enjoying my meal. Will I be back? Most definitely! The food was delicious, prices were very reasonable, and the service was quick and friendly. Plus, they offer way more than just pupusas, so it's definitely worth checking out if you haven't already.

Believe it or not, I'm 35, and this is the first time I have come to Grand Central Market. Sarita's Pupuseria, here is a fun fact; a shooting location of a scene from LALA Land. Being Salvadoran, obviously, I see a pupusa spot. I will gravitate towards that place. It looked promising, and they seemed to have plenty of people waiting for their orders. So I was genuinely excited to try them out. Obviously, since it was Grand Central Market, we have plenty of spots to go try out. My fiancée and I each got one pupusa. 1 pure cheese and 1 revuelta. $16 for 2 pupusas isn't crazy now in these days in LA. That being said, there's no reason why 2 pupusas should take 40 minutes. I'm sorry to say this, but that's a crazy wait. Yes, initially, they had a crowd waiting, but after 20-25 minutes, there were only 3-4 people waiting, and I even overheard the person next to me saying, "What's taking so long?" Mind you, they are cooking in front of you. So you can see what they are doing. Initially, there were 4 people working, and I guess since it had slowed down, they decided to go to their breaks or lunches, but there was only 1 person doing the cooking. Unfortunately, the pupusas weren't worth the wait. Half of my cheese pupusa was burnt, and it wasn't cheese at that. It was cheese with loroco, and I didn't ask for loroco. I personally hate the taste of loroco. The revuelta was decent. But it doesn't justify the 40-minute wait. If I come back to Grand Central Park I definitely won't be stopping by here. I loved the location even though it was extremely hot, and a huge ( + ) I was able to sit where Ryan Gosling sat when shooting LALA Land.

Sarita's Pupuseria is one of those places where you immediately know you made the right decision the second you take your first bite. Honestly, give me 20. No hesitation. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but the revuelta is the one. If there were such a thing as a perfect bite, it would be that pupusa with curtido and just a little drop of their salsa. It's warm, savory, slightly tangy, and hits every note exactly the way it should. Everything is made to order, so come with a little patience. But that's part of the experience. Watching them press, fill, and cook each pupusa is its own kind of show. These aren't rushed. They're crafted. And you can taste that in every bite. It's the kind of food that feels simple but is done so well it stays with you. Add in the fact that it has a little movie moment tied to it, and it just makes the whole experience even better. All worth the wait. Every single time.

My daughter absolutely loved the bean and cheese pupusa! From the first bite, she was hooked--the filling was HOT, cheesy, and perfectly balanced with the seasoned beans. The pupusa itself was cooked just right, with a nice golden exterior and soft, flavorful interior. What really stood out was how simple yet satisfying it was--no frills, just really good comfort food done well. It's always a win when you find something that kids genuinely enjoy, and this was definitely one of those moments. We'll absolutely be coming back for more!

If you want a taste of El Salvador, this is the place to go. Sarita's Pupuseria is famous for its soft handmade pupusas stuffed with fillings like queso, friolles, and chicharron, as well as other traditional dishes like platanos, yuca con chicharron, and stews. They're located inside the Grand Centra Market-DTLA. I came as a first time customer to get my favorite Platanos Fritos. And I liked it. Those PF (plantains) are soft, warm and naturally sweet. However, the serving is very small for $7.63 price. It's literally six plantains that I devoured in 1 minute. Anyways, their staff and service were nice and efficient. Atmosphere was hot. Overall, it's a good spot to get Platanos.

Puedo tener dos pupusas? At Sarita's Pupuseria. Mucho gusto y nos volvemos a encontrar! Kind of surreal three Februaries/Februaries ago I was almost exactly in the same spot, with the same wonderful man, enjoying good eats, conversation, flavor, laughs, bebidas and mas. My Spanish is mejor, pero I still second guess myself when ordering things. I had the Brocoli Pupusa sin queso and it was fire! Best one I've had and I've tried a few things over the years. I also had the papa pupusa which mi novio reminded me that it's basically potato with more potato. Still enjoyable, just nothing uniquely flavorful about it unless you're vegetarian or without foodie preferences. Vegan options are easy here... Los veganos... We've always had options aqui. Very accomodating Like the the Platanos. So good!! Had those last time, and babe had them all to himself with a shrimp pupusa this time. Service was smooth and they run a smooth ship. Unfortunately the ran out of hongos/mushrooms and I've had these types of pupusas twice here before. Hoping to return when they have them. Enjoy Sopas, Entres/Platillos, Tamales, Desayunos (Breakfast), Pupusas, and much more. Have the L.A. LA LA Land experience and then some! Mucho refrescos (soft drink) options. Easy azul and white decor with a hint of yellow... Movie worthy even. Very Salvadoran! Open 10AM - 6PM Monday through Thursday and until 9pm Friday through Sunday, and grateful too, since we ate dinner around 630pm today, but have enjoyed all times here.

If you're craving authentic salvi food, this is your place! The pupusas are perfectly salted , meaty and covered by a hot warm, perfect masa. The curtido is spicy and fresh. Don't let the long line intimidate you. It's a sign that they're that good! Tamales are tasty as well!!!!

3.5 stars and would certainly return if in mood for Salvadoran options. Pupusaria located at Grand central market in DTLA. Ordered 2 pupusas, the locoro (which is a flower, very mild) and the papas. Pupusas were around $6 each which is reasonable and they are fairly sizable. The pupusas did seem to take a while but they were fresh and hot and we ate at the small counter attached.

My friend and I each ate half of a tradicional with carne asada and a loroco con queso papusa. We really enjoyed both of them and the spicy cabbage slaw that came with it. Our papusas were fresh and super cheesy and delicious. However, it seems like there was very little carne asada and loroco in our papusas, which was a bit disappointing. Each one was around $6. The people working here were friendly when taking our order and were busy, so it took a little while until we got our food. Seating at the actual papusa stand is very limited, but there are tables and chairs around Grand Central Market. Of all the options here, this is a good one to check out!

*3.5* I ordered a freshly made pupusa with beans and a fried egg on top, slightly runny. They have their own homemade salsa that goes on top, which really made the dish shine. The pupusa took about 10-15 minutes to prepare, but since everything is made with fresh dough, I have no complaints about the wait. The flavor was great overall, and at around $10, the pricing felt reasonable. There's some seating available around the counter. Just be prepared to wait a bit for your food, but it's worth it for the freshness and quality. The salsa really elevates the whole experience.

My first Pupusa! I was a bit nervous, but have heard amazing things about pupusas so I stepped out of my comfort zone. The menu is pretty simple to navigate, but my favorite part was the warmth and customer service of the staff here. I used my limited Spanish to order and there was not a single time did I feel awkward ; the 2 staff members that helped me were laughing and seemed to be very genuine. I was surprised to find that this location was also featured in "La La Land". Great vibes, amazing service, and the food was excellent!

We came a couple of months ago and had their loaded yucca fries with carne asada as well as some pupusas. The meat on our fries felt really low quality-- the best way I could describe it was it tasting like frozen hamburger meat-- and gave us indigestion for the rest of the night, which was really disappointing to experience. Today we unfortunately experienced some really rude service. My bf ordered a plain water and we were given a fresco ensalada (no big deal, he likes it) We don't eat pork and ordered fried yucca on its own, just yucca frita. We were given a plate of yucca con chicharron :( I told the service we just ordered yucca frita and we were told that we did not specify that for her. I explained that we don't eat pork so we sent it back and were met with a displeasing look. I said we didn't want to yucca anymore since we had a lot of food already and she said "the kitchen already made it." So I said it was fine but just the yucca this time and she came back with the same exact plate just without the chicharron-- no visible plate change. Needless to say for the price, decline in food quality, and rude service, it's not worth coming back. At least not for a while.

I enjoyed it so much that I came back again today after work specifically because I was craving them. The food once again did not disappoint. The servers I interacted with were kind and pleasant. However, today's experience left a sour note. When I walked in, I was the only customer in the restaurant. Every table was empty. I asked if I could sit at the corner table with the couch, and the man I spoke to made a face and told me it was only for groups. To be clear -- there were no other customers. Zero. So the response felt unnecessary and dismissive. After asking the servers, I found out that the man I spoke to is actually the owner. That made it more disappointing. Owners set the tone for their establishment, and hospitality should start at the top. There's no reason for a paying customer to feel brushed off -- especially when the restaurant is empty. Good food can bring people in, but good service is what makes them come back. I'll likely return because the pupusas are honestly that good, but I do hope there's more awareness about how guests are treated. Without customers choosing to spend their money there, no business survives -- no matter how great the food is.

We started with the ensalada, which was refreshing and had just the right amount of sweetness. For pupusas, we ordered the revueltas, loroco con queso, and frijol con queso. We tried both corn and rice dough, and honestly, both were delicious. My personal favorite was the frijol con queso with the rice dough- so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The yuca frita was exactly how it should be: crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The chicharrón was cooked perfectly as well, and the homemade green salsa that the sweet lady helping us made was the perfect addition. She was so kind, welcoming, and always had a friendly smile, which made the experience even better. Another thing that really stood out was how clean the restaurant is. It's spacious, with plenty of seating whether you're coming with a large group, your family, or just stopping by for a meal on your own. We absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back. Next time we're bringing my Salvadoran in-laws- I have a feeling this place will get their authenticity approval too! Spanish!
