Ordered their lobster roll and they gave me a bean and cheese burrito with chunks of lobster in it. The lobster was so extremely chewy that I had mistaken it for octopus at first. I thought I could still salvage it and eat however it was inedible and such a disappointment, I had to throw it away. The biggest insult is that they charge $22 for this plus tip. I don't normally leave reviews but this was so egregious that I had to leave a warning for other customers. Their description does not clarify that is comes as a burrito when the menu item says "Lobster Roll" you would expect lobster in a buttery bread. I was very curious about the black at Aguachiles. So I decided to give them a try. Lily was the person taking my order. We talked a bit about what she recommended. Ultimately, I decided to stick with my initial choice of the black Aguachiles. They did not disappoint. The serving was very generous. Lots of large shrimp, Red onion and cucumber. The folks here are friendly and there is a good variety of items to select from, but still pretty streamlined. There's a general sense of hustle for sure, but when you are dining there, the vibe can still be chill. Another cool thing is that they have the items on display so you have a good idea of what you're ordering (at least when I went around lunch time) I got a couple of the gringos tacos with just shrimp. They were delicious and had a good amount of ingredients on it giving it a great texture and flavor profile. This place is definitely a great place to scratch that mariscos itch while being reasonably priced. I've been coming to La Tostaderia consistently for the past 3-4 years -- easily 30 to 40 times a year -- and their fish ceviche has historically been one of my absolute favorites. It's always been incredibly fresh, bright, and refreshing -- exactly what you want from a great ceviche. The customer service has also always been a highlight. The team is friendly, and the cashier even recognizes me at this point, which makes it feel like a neighborhood staple for me. That's why it's tough to write this. Over the past couple of weeks, I've come in twice, and both times the ceviche has been extremely salty -- to the point where it was honestly hard to eat. It's a noticeable shift from what I've come to expect over the years. I tried reaching out directly before leaving a review, but unfortunately none of the phone numbers listed online (website, Google, social media) seem to work. I'm leaving this here because I genuinely want this place to get back to what it does best. When it's right, the ceviche is top-tier. Tuesday 7/23/25 @ 5:30pm: Ordered the gobernador tacos, fried fish tacos, and an agua chile. Spent $50 and tipped 20% because I'm in the industry as well. I had no idea how much I would regret that. When I ordered, the cashier asked me to confirm my order on the screen and I specified that I wanted shrimp for the Gobernador tacos, because their menu literally says choice of "Shrimp or Tuna". Of course they gave me tuna tacos and, to make matters worse, it came with a literal PINCH of tuna. My cousin and I were splitting the tacos. They were so tiny that he ate his in 2 bites before I took my first bite, when I realized there was no shrimp. Disappointingly, I told the cashier about the mix-up and she tried to blame and gaslight me! She told me that their Gobernador tacos always come with tuna and that I had meant to order their Gringo tacos. I take a look at the menu again and said "but the Gobernador tacos literally say Shrimp or Tuna?" Also the Gringo tacos were nowhere to be found on their menu. She went on saying that I didn't specify what I wanted and how she's used to customers pointing out what they want from their plates on display. I told her I had definitely and specifically asked for shrimp when I ordered. She went to talk with the chef and when she came back she said they could only give me my correct order if I returned the tuna tacos. I decided to just go enjoy the last meal with my family before we had to leave to LAX. Once we were done, we took back the taco I never ate and she said nope, no refund. Just an ABSOLUTE JOKE of a place this is. I spent $60 including tip here, and you couldn't even fix my order? Any other place or service would simply apologize and just remake it. Why are you even asking for the food back? And when I do take it back you still deny a refund? I actually saw some reviews how they've re-made other people's food for being too spicy. So you can remake other customers' orders but not Latinos who are here to support and have a nice meal? It really be your own sometimes. Learn some professionalism and customer service. It's easily 16oz of octopus, whole shrimp, and bay scallops mixed with cut in half cherry tomatoes, diced cucumber, thin sliced red onions, radishes and cilantro. There is a ton of lime juice and really spicy. All of this and 2 tostadas shells. Glad I opted for the mix instead of just one fish. The dish had equal parts of each seafood item. The service was great, I modified my ceviche tostada to have soft corn tortillas vs the crunchy to ensure gluten freeness and they were very accommodating. The food itself was good but not mind-blowing. My ceviche was slightly more acidic than I am used to (maybe more lime juice?) but tasty regardless. I ordered the fish ceviche- yum. No complaints! My husband on the other hand ordered the sampler platter not realizing that 4 of the six items were spicy. He took one bite of the octopus taco and his mouth was on fire. - We are not spicy people. The chef offered to make him the Shrimp burger with no chipotle. Wow, thanks to The LA Times, I was able to find this glorious taco called Gringos. It's with grilled shrimp and octopus, wrapped in melted Oaxacan cheese, filled with grilled Fresno peppers and topped with chipotle aioli and radishes. The shrimp and octopus and were perfectly cooked while the cheese didn't overpower the flavors, nor was it greasy. Absolutely phenomeal I wish we got more. It was the avocado puree on the tacos for me. Or no better yet, it was the salsa roja on top.
