Place is beautiful. The view is amazing and with the weather being nice and sunny, it was the perfect spot for brunch. They have a brunch menu for adults and it was a 4 course meal. One of the best brunches we've had in the last ten years. A main purpose for our trip to California was to see a great friend be hooded and graduate with a Masters degree. And we also came just in time to celebrate his birthday. The initial celebration took place at Las Brisas. On a beautiful, sunny and breezy day, we all met Las Brisas for what turned out to be a delightful time. Before proceeding any further - IMPORTANT - for all of Ok Laguna Beach: Unless you're arrive with enough luck to be able to use the valet parking, you need to use street parking. Laguna Beach has its own smartphone app. It is better to download it and set it up before arriving - some of the app reviews address the slow verification issues. I had little trouble with it other than a two to three minute verification, which I could have avoided if I had known to set it up beforehand Las Brisas is an expansive place with a large indoor restaurant and satellite outdoor seating that extends well over a city block and on both sides of a public walking trail to the state park. It's gigantic. Colorful umbrellas provide respite against the bright California sun There was a team of service people tending to us, not once did out water glasses go below half full, not once did our Mimosas get below half either. Saul was our main waiter wand he was a superb waitperson and also led his team superbly. One of the best I've seen, ever. Las Brisas model is heavy Mexican infusion to Southern California faire and it's delicious. We started our day with Bottomless Mimosas and an assortment of fresh fruit and pastries, each better than the previous one. We all decided on the four-course prix fixe dinner for a very reasonable price of $52 (not including the bottomless Mimosas/Bloody Mary's at $25 each. Well worth it. The appetizer course for me was the delicious smoked salmon tostadas, while a couple others ordered the pozole and these were a tasty melange of pulled chicken, tomatillos, poblano peppers and hominy. And my hubby had the Cesar Salad. Each was delicious. Main courses included the Suadero Eggs (really smooth pulled meat concoction with fingerling potatoes, crema, bechamel, salsa verde and cilantro). The portions were HUGE and I couldn't eat it all, despite it being so good. My other half had the Omelet Al Pastor, that included pork al pastor, salsa verde, crema, jack cheese, onion, cilantro, and crispy potato. The other couple had the Huevos Rancheros featuring eggs, chorizo, guajillo sauce, crispy tostada, black beans, and cotija cheese. Again, the portions were large enough for two, however delicious. Last course was the sorbet that we all had, although the menu also featured flan but we didn't have the room for it. Superb brunch!!! Definitely good view of the beach. Years ago, the patio had good vibes, servers were so much fun and we loved their appetizers and drinks. We haven't been back since the pandemic. Where so I even begin? Service - 2/5 : the service alone really could make a person walk out of this place! Our server came a total of 3 times. 1) to take our order 2) take our drinks and 3) the bill! Idk how many times I asked for a heater but i know it never came! I watched tables around me get heaters but not my table. I even watched them turn on a heater only to get it ready for the next person who needed one. I asked a bus guy to get a heater and he said okay AGAIN and it AGAIN never came. This is awful considering we had our baby with us! I didn't have to ask for the check twice though. This place is mostly about the view and the drinks. I think if it's great weather and you wanna catch a nice buzz with a beautiful view, perfect. I came on a very chill weekday, not that busy, maybe half full, if that. My main issue was with the hostess who left a very sour taste in my mouth. Just extremely low effort. I don't care about going into a long story but number one, their goal is to give you the absolute worst seat they can possibly get away with. If you don't open your mouth, they would seat you in the garbage can if possible. And then when I do, very politely ask "can we take this perfectly good seat here?" "Ok, I'll be right back to check, but if I can't work it out, you can sit there", as she points to the dingiest corner. Nice tactic, anyway she returns, and puts me in the second dingiest spot, whatever, I didn't feel like arguing that day. Came here for date night and let me tell you, this place is such a vibe and manages to be cozy yet classy at the same time. The restaurant is stunning for both indoor and outdoor seating but I would definitely recommend sitting outdoors so you can take in the beautiful ocean views and listen to the sounds of the waves! I sat outdoors at night and they even had the fireplace on which added to the vibe. Service here was also really good and our waiter would check in on us every so often. I would describe the food here as Americanized Mexican food. Although the food doesn't taste like authentic Mexican, it is still really good! We ordered the seared salmon and the steak and lobster enchiladas and both were delicious. The salmon came with a celery root purée which I didn't know if I'd like when I initially saw it on the menu but it was actually so good and made the dish! Both dishes that we ordered tasted light and fresh which I also appreciated and I'd recommend them! This a review for the weekend brunch. So the brunch is a set selection. You have to pay extra for items such as bottomless mimosas $25 per person and all of the eggs Benedict's. So the $50 per person quickly ramps up to $80 +. Of note. If one person orders the bottomless drinks they will charge both of you. I don't drink so i burned $25. The food was very mediocre at best. I had the chilaquiles which was cold and my wife had the chorizo omelette. Food wise there are much better places. Both dishes were bland however the portions were good. The brunch comes with coffee cake and fresh fruit as well. The fruit serving was sparse but the coffee cake was an acceptable size. At no time were we asked for a replenishment. The service I experienced was subpar as well. Granted it was very busy but at the price something had to be on point and it just wasn't. Yes the view is nice but that is about it. The interior is old and shabby. Overall I would recommend not going to Las Brisas. As a local there are better places very nearby. Leave Las Brisas for the tourists. They will always be here and so will Las Brisas. Not again. Improvements in the food and service would make this a better place for the money. As of now it just isn't there. On a good note the happy hours Monday through Friday from 3-6 are decent. Good crowd usually. read more

I came here with my wife's family last night to celebrate her grandmothers birthday and had one of the strangest dining experiences I've ever had, while receiving the worst service I've ever received at a restaurant. A few notes about the service: first appetizer (tuna poke) came out before the drinks and before the table was marked with share plates or silverware. Once brought out, we were short 1 share plate and one of the share plates still had what looked like guacamole on it from a prior table. It took about 15 minutes to get the plate replaced, which we got by flagging down a busser to assist. We ordered tableside guacamole that wasn't served tableside. Drink refills or additional beverages were not offered a single time to anyone at the table all evening. The server was frantic from start to finish, making us feel uncomfortable to ask him for anything throughout the evening. At one point we did ask for a heater for my wife's grandmother and the server responded with attitude, clearly frustrated by the request. The server did not check to see if we were enjoying our entrees except for asking after we had already finished, "what was the best dish on the table?" We all froze for a second after he asked as that was the first time he'd asked us anything about our meal during the evening, so before anyone responded he answered himself by saying, "the one in front of you right?" and immediately walked away. Despite mentioning grandmas birthday at the beginning of the meal, it was never acknowledged by the server while dining. By far the least attentive service I've received at a restaurant. I would like to note that my wife and I have come here before and were excited to come back as we love the views, the food, and have received great service in the past, which is the only reason I'm not giving a 1 star rating. But after last nights experience we will not be returning. The lack of general care, attentiveness, and attention to detail from our server was just awful. read more
