This review is from an experience I had 9 years ago with my Dad. The 32oz bone in porterhouse steak was cooked to perfection. Great sear on the exterior from the salt but not overwhelming taste of salt or butter. This was the biggest steak of my life (even to this day) and then I had my first experience with the gloriousness of that which is a bacon wrapped jalapeños...an absolute treat from Dad being a college intern for the summer from the SE and an experience I will never forget. read more

Everything is really good here, but the price is the only things that gets me. Lubbock doesn't really have a ton of super fancy restaurants, so it is good that Las Brisas is around for those special occasions. I haven't ever been disappointed or irritated by the food or service. Fine dining Lubbock style! Steaks are served on sizzling hot plates and are simply seasoned. They offer several options to dress your steak up if you so choose. My steak came out rare when I asked for medium rare and they were fast to fix it to my liking. Great service from our waiter. The steak tacos were a hit. We had the ribeye and filet mignon and both cuts were good. A big huh for serving our beers in glasses with ice cubes and a heavy salt rim. That was a first and we prefer our beer not watered down with ice cubes. Meals here are nice and the bar area sits on a manmade lake with waterfalls... which would be great on a sunny day. read more

We have eaten here as a family for years, but was disappointed in our experience today for Mother's Day. I made reservations for the morning to enjoy their Brunch. We were seated and given their regular lunch and dinner menu. We asked the waiter why brunch wasn't being served and was told that due the high amount of reservations for Mother's Day, it would be too difficult for the kitchen to have 2 meal services and it would be a nightmare. We were not prepared or expecting to eat a steak for our morning meal. This decision should have been communicated to their patrons that were making reservations. Almost every table was heard asking the same question. Deciding not to serve brunch on Mother's Day was a very poor decision by management. read more

I'd heard about Las Brisas for several years, so I decided to take my daughter there to celebrate her birthday. I am always happy to see new restaurants in Lubbock; there is so much more variety there then when I was in Lubbock during my college days. The wine list is adequate if not extensive; the by the glass list is a little more limited than I'd like to see, but there was an acceptable variety. The bottle list is much better. One of the reasons I wanted to go to Las Brisas was that I'd heard they served carpaccio, one of my favorite dishes. It was the only thing that was disappointing. The filet used in carpaccio should be served pounded very, very thin, almost like paper. They served it to me about 1/4" thick...waaaaay too thick. The meat quality was fine, but carpaccio that thick just isn't right. I had a bone-in ribeye, my daughter had the filet. Both cuts were prepared correctly. The quality of the steaks was good; not great, but pretty good. The sides were adequate but not outstanding. Not quite as big as you'd expect for steakhouse sides, but good enough. The bananas foster dessert was great. I highly recommend it. The waiter's service was adequate, if a little uninspired. Probably a Tech student with a hangover (which is redundant). A word about the decor: it's weird. I don't know how else to write it. It's just weird. It's a Southwestern/Native American/Polished Brass/Pine Furniture/Fern Bar/Shabby Chic-Mondo kind of thing. It's sort of as if Georgia O'Keeffe was abducted by aliens. However, the aliens were not from Mars, but instead, they were from a 1990 San Fernando Valley porn movie set. I don't know any other way to describe it. It didn't ruin the evening or anything: I just kept waiting for a guy to knock on the door and say he was there to deliver the pizza, with accompanying heavy bass line music. A good enough place. My bf brought me here on a Friday night for my birthday. It was a bit smelly in the main area because of the recent flood, but the staff was friendly. Our waiter took us to a small private room and he was very attentive and friendly and nice. The food was oh so very delicious (we ordered the mushroom and steak with shrimp - idk the menu name). Upon arriving I wasn't quite sure about the exterior of the venue as it just seemed out of place as other reviews had mentioned. On the other hand I also heard from locals how this place is fantastic. In interior on the other hand seemed like a fine steakhouse that you would find in NYC. So we were moving in the right direction. Anyways, I had the Chilean sea bass despite hearing about mixed reviews. It was very good. In fact between that, the creamy risotto and truffled mash I can confidently say the food here is superb. To top it off the wait staff was absolutely amazing. If I am not mistaken our waiter was named Mike, who was very accommodating and offered great insight regarding the menu. A very memorable meal, and not in a good way. We were hankering for some good local flavor, possibly Tex-Mex. Our hotel recommended Las Brisas. We should've known when we arrived at the restaurant. The nondescript building is totally out of place in this upscale McMansion neighborhood. The artificial lake and rock waterfall conjured up images of Vegas. Interior decor was bland 80s - even the muzak was bland and irritating. Entrees were absolutely horrible, with the exception of one of my companions who ordered steak. I ordered the chile relleno, which came smothered with cheese and stuffed with about a pound of dry, unseasoned ground beef. A salmon entree was equally bland and forgettable. Although the waiter was prompt, the check had to be questioned several times over mischarges. You've been warned! read more

The upscale restaurant space is all but non-existent in Lubbock and this fact was only reiterated this evening during my first experience at Las Brisas. Las Brisas has come highly recommended to me by several people as one of the nicer restaurants in Lubbock. When asked to join a friend for wine and dinner at Las Brisas this evening I was very excited to see if my expectations would be met..........They most certainly were not. From the moment I walked in I was underwhelmed by the "Fine Dining" area and the dingy lounge. We had previously decided we would seat ourselves at the bar in the lounge area as we were not dressed for fine dining, but I came to learn very quickly that at Las Brisas ANYONE is dressed for fine dining. We ordered a glass of wine and then both chose the Filet Mignon Street Tacos. We were asked how we would like our filet cooked for the tacos and we both stated medium rare. Apparently medium rare means beef jerky to Las Brisas. Our food arrived and we could only manage to swallow a few bites of these horrendous, dry, burned tacos. We had the bar tender come look at the "Filet" that was inside our tacos and asked if this was how it was supposed to come out. He said "We only cook the steak at one temperature for the tacos". What does that even mean? Why ask us how we would like our steaks cooked if this is the case, and how in the world can the kitchen think it is okay to serve such a horrible product? Our bar tender was mediocre and failed to professionally address our complaints until we requested a sample of our "Filet" be sent back to the kitchen for inspection. He stated our meals would be comped and we went on our way. I am unsure if Brisas is truly trying to be an upscale restaurant as indicated by their prices because every aspect of my experience was below par. The only reason Las Brisas is receiving 2 stars instead of 1 is because they comped our meals. read more

Hubby made reservations for anniversary dinner. At 6pm we were just in time, because the place was full by 7. The first thing we noticed is that we were sat at a nicely pre-set table with DIRTY wine glasses. We placed them on the dirty table next to us. Our server, Patrick, was bored waiting, I think, because he was at our table every 5 minutes. The good part is our drinks never went empty. The bad part ~ well, he asked twice if he could remove our appetizer plate. Ummmm? No? We're kinda still working on it. But like, his hand was on the plate both times when he asked, and Hubby commented that he was going to stab the guy's hand with his fork if he touched it again! So right there, we were feeling like we were being rushed. That appetizer? Calamari Diablo ~ fried calamari mixed with black beans, pico de gallo, and jarred jalapenos. The calamari was a little underdone, but whatever. We ate it to spite our server. Looking around the room...wrinkled uniforms & dirty tennis shoes on all the servers....hmmmmm....Hey! All these tables have a bread basket? Can we try one? Patrick brought one, but it seemed like he didn't want to....huh? Salad course ~ we kept it simple with Caesars. The crushed colored tortilla strips on top are nice to look at, but otherwise it was just...meh. On to the steaks, which is why we came. I got the 10 oz filet medium, and hubby the Prime NY rare. The temps were right. Food came out sizzling on hot plates, so that was a nice touch. Except when placed in front of us, the sizzling butter (I think) they top their steaks with was all over the place and turning brownish. It made the plate look like it was a dirty plate. I ordered the Chef's vegetable, which was explained to me as a medley, but was only green beans, and the truffled potatoes. There was SO much garlic in the potatoes that I couldn't eat them. I LOVE garlic, but, wow! They also looked like they had been sitting out and then microwaved...not good presentation at all. Hubby chose the sauteed shrooms and a loaded baked potato. The shrooms were good! The potato barely had any cheese or anything, and we didn't get the butter we asked for, so whatever. We're about half-way done with our entrees when here comes Patrick again...wanting to pick up our plates! ARGHHHH! We ended with dessert ~ creme brulee. It was ok. The Kahlua in the custard is a nice touch, but could have used a bit more sugar for the brulee. There was no "crunchy part" on it. When I asked Patrick if there was a liqueur in the dessert, he said, "No. But there is a little Kahlua in it." $175 for dinner for two. Seriously bad service. The steaks were tender, but in all honesty we've had better at other local spots. For the money, we'll have a better meal...and a movie...next time we go out. read more

Overpriced for LBK. Had the bone-in ribeye...it wasnt bad...cooked to my specification, medium rare, and had 2 tiny asparagus spears on the plate w some starch...but for $35 atleast serve some prime beef. I rather pay $10 more for some USDA prime dry aged beef. The porterhouse had the same problem, too much gristle and fat just like that ribeye. I guess it must be easy to be in food service in Lubbok since there's not much competition, or if ur competitor was double nickle. This place gets packed on the wknds and they have a nice patio over a fake pond. I guess I really should not complain, atleast LBK have 2 steakhouses with wine lists now. read more

It was graduation evening for TTU and we had a party of 9 celebrating our daughters graduation. The reservations were made 3 weeks in advance . The person I contacted was polite and professional and the reservations were seem less. They even called two days before to make sure we were a go. Upon arrival, they had our table ready to go. However, it being an extremely busy night, the table was set up in the bar , near an exit to the outside bar area, which at first was not a problem. As the evening progressed the bar became more and more crowded , so much in fact that the bar patrons we backing up into our seats during service. Very unpleasant. Also it was a cool evening and , being by the door of a busy bar, the door was open more than it was closed, causing an uncomfortable chill in the room. The waitress seemed nice and attentive at first. Drink orders were prompt and correct. After settling in, our dinner orders were made. Las Brisas does not have an extensive menu, but they do have a good selection of steaks, a few seafood dishes and one chicken dish. After our order was taken is when the problems started. Our party consisted of 9 diners. When our waitress brought out our bread, she only brought one loaf, consisiting of 5.slices. I had to request another loaf be brought out about 10 min later, thinking all the time, another one was surely on its way. Our entres arrived approximately one hour after ordering, a long time considering we were one of the first dinner tables to be served. Our food arrived one plate at a time , about 30 seconds apart. Mine was the first to arrive, and by the time the last person was served, mine had started to chill down considerably due to the close proximity to the outside door. My steak was just ok. At 42 dollars, I expected outstanding. I have had better steaks at more reasonable prices many times. It wasn't bad, just didn't wow me, the best thing on my plate was the sugar peas, which I didn't even order. The truffle mashed potatoes were cold and dry. My daughter even said the tasted like " tires". The best dish of the night was the Lobster Mac and cheese. It was worth the 16 dollars I paid for it, smooth, creamy , with a touch of heat. I have been to LB many times and have never been disappointed. This being a busy night, I can understand some flaws. read more

Our first time dining here. Great meal. Was a tad worried since the parking lot was full, and we found out that we needed reservations once we got inside. However, we were able to sit in the bar and able to do so without any wait. Our server, Meredith, was excellent. She explained our options, and was very patient with our decision making. Started with roasted jalapeños for an appetizer. Huge and tasty!!! I had the Prime New York strip, and my girlfriend had the Filet Mignon. Both steaks were tender and juicy. The southwest mashed potatoes were good as a side dish. For dessert, we had the cheesecake, and an apple turnover. The best steak I've ever had. It's tender and beautifully peppered. This restaurant is about to turn me over to steak! My lobster mac and cheese was perfect. Not only were there chunks of lobster but it was wholesome and creamy at the same time. They have a wonderful wine selection that you should make sure to peruse carefully. When ordering for the table, opt for the truffle mashed potatoes. I preferred them to the creamed spinach even though I'm usually a larger fan of spinach. read more

I hate to keep doggin' Lubbock's food scene but what is it about the places like Las Brisas that can be good one time and terrible the next? We took our son there to celebrate his birthday. In the past we were fairly pleased with our meals. This time the steaks were OK, not what you'd expect for the price that is equivalent to a truly fine steak house. My son ordered bearnaise sauce to accompany his steak and the waiter must have misunderstood him because it tasted like tartar sauce. We ordered au gratin potatoes that tasted like they were made with velveeta cheese, yuk! I take that back, velveeta cheese would have probably tasted better. The worse part was the price for such a lousy meal! The place looks like it had previously been an upscale El Chico and they moved in after the last fajita had been served. Next time we visit Lubbock we will not pick Las Brisas. read more

This is supposed to be "fine dining" and the only fine dining I saw was the price of the food. I did not like it at all. I had the chicken Marsala which was absolutely packed to the brim with garlic. The wait staff was rude and never brought out the bread. Also forgot several drinks and never brought them. Really poor service and not very good food. read more

The sides here are AMAZE Balls and big enough to share. We always end up having a lot of leftovers for the next day. The steak here is cooked to a T and probably the best thing on their menu. I tried the Penne pasta my last time here and it was real good. If you want to try something new when it comes to salad opt for the Las Brisa's salad that is a wonderful mix of walnuts, raisins, cream cheese, and a caramelized dressing. They get a five for the bread and butter that I couldn't stop munching on before dinner. If your in the Lubbock area stop by Las Brisas and ask for Jay. Being from San Antonio, my wife an I are used to Ruth Chris as our favorite steak house. Since we moved to Lubbock we are on the hunt for a substitute here. I was told about this place from a couple of friends so we thought we would give it a tried. It wasn't terrible but it certainly was not worth nearly what Ruth Chris charges for food, and this place charges as much, if not more for an inferior menu and quality of food. My wife and I both ordered lettuce wedges, her's with with blue cheese and mine with ranch. There was nothing special, no zest to the salads, very bland. We both order Filet Mignon, her's medium-well and mine medium. Both dishes were prepared incorrectly, her's was very well done and mine was prepared medium-rare and had to be sent back - at my waiter's suggestion!! I ended up order bernaise sauce because the steaks were bland and not seasoned properly. The decor was dated and "hick" style, not appealing, romantic, or comfortable. There was no candles on the tables and the seats were not the greatest, could use a good upgrade. If Ruth Chris every comes to Lubbock it will put this place out of business. I was hoping for more and I got mediocre food at a 5 star price. read more

We always enjoy this place. The steaks are good, as well as the sides. The staff is always friendly and the price is reasonable for what you get. They have a pretty good wine list. We have always sat in the main room, which has a good ambiance. This time we were put in a small side room, with no windows. Two of us were left to stare at a blank gray wall. After we went to the yacht club, a night of fine dining and cocktails sure did the trick. Buffy and Belvedere were at full force on the dance floor singing rock the casbah. Would have made it a five star, I mean the food is incredible, the service was impeccabl and they got me dinner reservation on a Saturday evening with only an hours notice. the problem was that the reservation was for a table in the bar instead of the main dining room. We go in to sit down and there is this group of load mouthed inconsiderate jerks standing in the way of everyone trying to get by. one of them was leaning on the chair I was trying to sit at and they just kept on and on with the noise and finally I had to go tell the wait staff to help these inconsiderate people to find their seats or we were leaving. so, they moved us to a table ten feet away from this group of people that were just flat obnoxious. they finally went outside and I thought we could eat in peace but within 30 minutes they were back inside and stood in front of the door and nobody could get by while they continue there cursing and ranting as loud as they could. It pretty much ruined our evening and not one manager said anything to them. so, if you like dining with loud mouthed, entitled, inconsiderate people, this is the place for you. read more

The food is amazing! I LOVE the rib-eye here. The asparagus was extremely fresh and prepared perfectly (grilled). The Caesar salad is not the typical white and creamy type of dressing Caesar. However, it was really good. While beautifully decorated, the location leaves a lot to be desired. It is in the middle of nowhere! Could you choose a more remote location, like say; North Dakota? You can possibly miss this place if you aren't careful, there is a small driveway for the country club right in the front. The decor of the place is great! Has a classic, lounge feel, dimmed lights and all. We came on a Saturday evening and it was packed and it was a bit loud! They said we had until 9:30 before the next party, but it was the service that made us go over time. Our waitress was very nice. We ordered some appetizers. My friend and I ordered the same thing and she didn't get hers. My two friends had nothing to eat for about 30-45 minutes while all of us had ours. FOOD: The could definitely use some Fried Zucchini on the menu! The prices weren't as bad as I expected, however, we did get stuck paying 20% gratuity even though the service was slow. I had the Filet Mignon - easily shared and to die for! Worth every penny. (Asparagus and potatoes $35) I had the Caesar salad on the side which was very good. Light and something you probably wouldn't want to share. My wife and I visited Las Brisas last night after receiving a gift card for Christmas. I ordered the 10 oz. filet with sautéed asparagus and truffle mashed potatoes. The steak and asparagus were served on a sizzling skillet. My steak was pepper-crusted, incredibly tender and was one the most flavorful I've ever eaten. The asparagus was little crispy for my taste and the potatoes, just lukewarm. My wife was pleased with her chicken penne she said was southwest style and slightly spicy. The small loaf of bread was warm and tasty. We had tea and a soft drink and shared an apple dumpling also served sizzling on a skillet ala mode. Service was excellent from Michael (?).
