My husband and I enjoyed an authentic Mexican meal with attentive service. The salsa and guacamole were delicious and our main dishes were quite tasty. My husband enjoyed a carne asada burrito and I created a combo plate with a beef taco and cheese enchilada. We sat on the back patio and enjoyed the weather while sipping on coronas and munching away. This place is "OK". The staff is really friendly. The food mediocre. I experienced a LONG wait time to both place order & to get our food/drinks, so expect to wait a while if you decide to eat here. I suspect the place is still in business because Mexican food is scarce in the vicinity, and because they are open when many local spots are closed. They seem like they should hire more waitresses too - probably another formula why they are still in business. This is our go to spot in the area. We moved to Los osos 5 months ago. Came here before we moved when it was late summer. They still had the roasted corn on the cob with delicious saucy topping. My absolute favorite thing on the menu is friend avocados! Why no other mexican restaurant I have ever been to has not thought of this before is amazing!! Love them! We were on our way to Hearst Castle and the elephant seals at San Simeon when we stopped in Cambria for lunch. We tried the three mini enchilada and three mini tostada, with a side salad and sangria. Servers were friendly and attentive. But food was NOT good. Whatever you do, DO NOT order the chile relleno. It is NOT a relleno, but an omlette. After a great day at Hearst Castle and horseback riding with Work Family Ranch we hoped to enjoy some great family Mexican food and we found it! Totally disgusted with the service and awful service. The waitress threw the dish in front of my child. The other waitress put the dish pan down and it splashed on the person I was having dinner with and landed on her food and hair. The waitress also was ease dropping on conversation. Please note, very True a Gringo would not know good Mexican food. My girlfriends and I went here Presidents weekend and had a blast. Great customer service and because I waited so long to write this review. I can't remember our servers name. She is a very pretty girl, use to live in Long Beach and her boyfriend is the cook. If your not a person who likes shots I wood recommend the Eskimo shot. I did not try it, but my friends loved it, I prefer the real thing. We had a great meal, wonderful atmosphere, sociable and attractive server and the bill was reasonable. I love Cambria, but yes it is on the sleepy side. If you need a little pick me up and want to get a little loud. I suggest coming here and letting your hair down for just bit before going back to your room on moonstone, as we did ; ) read more

Went with our friends who come here once or twice a month. My first impression was great there is a live band and they sound like a lot of fun but as we approached the patio where they were playing I realized they were a good band but too loud for the area in which they were playing. In fact, normally I would have liked to have gotten a table on the patio and had a few drinks and listen to the music but it was so loud! And it wasn't just me but my husband and his friend who play in a band agreed and so we headed for a table inside. Unfortunately we had to go as far as the front of the restaurant as the band did overwhelm the back half of the restaurant with the music...it was that loud! Okay, back to the review....we sat down and ordered the top shelf margarita on the rocks no salt and they were delicious and nicely blended - not badly priced at $7.50 (in Orange County easily a 9 or 10 dollar drink)....our friend, he had a beer (Pacifica) and she had a house margarita which had too much sweet and sour for my taste. But she seemed to enjoy it. Then we tried their fried avocados which were recommended by our friends...they were good and different. I would never thought to fry an avocado but something to try once. We did love the Chipotle sauce that accommodated them. In fact we ordered a bowl of it to go with our meal. Also, the chips were fresh while not being greasy nor over salted and the salsa fresh and good with chunks of tomato and onions. So not understanding other reviews that state they were grocery store quality as they were not. My husband and I shared the carnitas plate which came with either flour or corn tortillas but we asked if we could get half and half and the waitress was very accommodating with our order. The carnitas was perfectly corked with a crusty outside and not greasy - it was delicious. The tortillas were also fresh along with the black beans - the Mexican rice well it was Mexican rice what can you say about rice! Our friends had the nachos and a chile relieno which they both seemed to enjoy and said they were very good. Since we did not share or taste can't say how they were cooked, etc. But they come here a lot so must enjoy their food. All and all we were very pleased with our food and the service was outstanding so not sure about some of the reviews that are posted. They must be doing something right as the place was busy on Sunday and filled with locals. read more

Went for lunch during a car repair on a road trip. Naureen couldn't have been more friendly and personable. She gave our dog treats and water soon as we sat down, took great care of us. Very good portion size. Food tastes fresh. We got the chicken fajitas, though the veggies weren't flame grilled , the dish was good. Rice and beans taste homemade. Chicken salad actually had a lot of chicken pieces, they were tender ,flavorful and not overcooked. We ordered a side of tortilla chips and got a huge bag full. We had a fine lunch here, and we were pleased with the draft beer selection - several good craft beers in addition to the standard stuff. Our food was tasty and the portions were big. A big plus is the wonderful seating area on the back deck. Shaded by umbrellas or you can sit in the sun if you want to. So nice to be off the street. It was very relaxing after a long hot bike trip, and we ended up chatting with some other cyclists who were seated near us. The server was friendly and did a fine job. Not super-fast service, but we were on vacation in a tourist town, we didn't need city speed. I would definitely go back to this place. read more

I used to like to eat here, but the other day I went and ordered a chile relleno and it was terrible. A piece of poblano pepper (not even a complete pepper) stuffed with a little cheese and covered with scrambled eggs--it was more like a poblano omelette than a chile relleno. I suppose they are trying to make it "healthier" but if I wanted health food, I wouldn't order this dish. I don't think I'll be back any time soon. read more
