Las Caras is amazing! I am actually from Southern California (San Diego), which is basically as close to Mexico as you can get without actually BEING in Mexico, so I've grown up with some pretty outstanding Mexican food. Las Caras is the only casual dining Mexican restaurant that my boyfriend (who's from Long Beah, CA and also knows good Mexican food) and I will eat at in the Southeast Denver area. When the food came, she never came to ask us if we needed anything else - AND since she didn't come I had to get up to ask for a knife to cut my grandson's burrito. Not sure we will be going back. So yummy! Everything was hot and fresh. Delicious and so just perfect all around. I had a taco salad and it was amazing perfect steak and and seasoned right. The staff was very nice and made you feel at home and welcoming to you. It was very clean and you can see inside the kitchen and that was clean also. Had a craving for a burrito and decided to give this place a try. Burrito was fine tasting but definitely not a Mexican style burrito! The rice was bland and the refried beans were canned for sure. The handheld burrito was huge but for $10 the taste was not worth it. My boyfriend's dish was less than yummy. The taco was like a Taco Bell "taco" and the chile relleno was according to him a disappointment. The only thing he liked was the cheese enchilada and that is because you can't go wrong with just eating melted cheese anything hahaha. This place was not gross or anything but it is definitely not an authentic Mexican restaurant. The staff are persistently friendly and welcoming, and every time I bring a new person there, the service never changes. I used to go here pretty often. Unfortunately the last few times has brought me to the decision to stop eating here. The last handful of times I ordered a Stuffed Burrito there was no cheese (at least none to see or taste) and the amount of sour cream was laughable (Maybe a teaspoon). this place is pretty fantastic. the service is phenomenal. the servers are so friendly and welcoming. the food is so delicious it makes you wish you had an extra stomach. the decor is weird and it's small and those are my two reasons for knocking it off a star. be careful if you order a side of sour cream with your YUMMY smothered burrito - as it's like 1/2 cup of sour cream (more than enough to share). Service was good but food is just mediocre. Ordered one of the specials with grilled chicken and enchilada sauce, but the enchilada sauce is definitely not enchilada sauce. Was not impressed with it. The rice that is served with the meal is not Mexican rice, which is one of the things I look forward to with Mexican food. Wow! Don't let the strip mall vibe or boring (sorry...) interior fool you. This place is GREAT! The rellenos were perfectly crispy, the sauces (green chile and enchilada) were excellent, and the grilled chicken in the burrito was very flavorful. The only items we tried that weren't on par with these other things were the salsa (very tomato-y) and rice. I'm not a fan of Mexican rice anyway, but my husband tends to like it - although he didn't like this. Way too much tomato...and we both like tomatoes! Anyway, we'd definitely go back. Yum! read more

Not terrible, but you can easily find much better Mexican food without having to look very hard. The food was decent, but the menu is somewhat small and disappointing - no fajita plates, and no seafood on the menu, for example. There's not really any ambience to speak of; the place looks more like a smalltown diner on the inside. Prices are good though, and the food is quality enough to make it a good value. Overall, it's a good place to stop if you're starving at lunch and close by; but if you're going searching for great Mex, keep looking. read more

The only reason I'm rating 2 stars is because they do have good food.The service, however, is TERRIBLE. I live accross the street and get take out from the restaurants accross the street alot, including Las Caras. My boyfriend and I called an order in the other night, they said it'd be 20-30 minutes. Then when we said we'd be paying over the phone with a card they said our order would take an extra hour and a half! We then decided to pay cash. When I went to pick up the food the lady at the front desk told me it'd be another 10 minutes. I was ok with this since I needed to do some shopping at target. When I went back (15 minutes later) the lady said 5 more minutes. I say whatever and ask for the bill. She runs my card, hands me my bill and then comments "if you don't tip this time we won't give you your food." Now I'm furious!! I work in the restaurant industry and have never received nor given a tip on a to go order. What has this lady done to deserve a tip? Anyway, after her comment I ripped up the credit card receipt without signing it and went to the pizza place next door. I'd rather go to Taco Bell than give these people my service ever again. read more

We eat at Las Caras about twice a month, have always found it very friendly and accommodating -- they have no problem giving separate checks when we go with friends. It is family owned and feels like it. The only negative has been that sometimes there is a wait for a table because it is not a large place. But the wait is never more than ten minutes, and it appears that soon it will be taking extra space that has come available at the next door unit. It is a great place to meet friends for a low-key, unrushed dinner. The food is good, strictly Mexican and never disappointing. read more
